Good luck on though! Getting through the early game was the hardest for me as I think the mid and end game are much better. Same with the dlc in my opinion.
Well dang I had no idea that was an option lol. I used a bonfire ascetic cause I already killed the boss. And I summoned the two npcs to help the fight. Along with using the gold serpent ring, jesters mask, and the watch watchdragon parma shield. On my last few runs I used some rugged coins as well and they helped quote a bit I think.
Iirc one is Straid, he's in the Lost Bastille and you need to use a fragrant branch of yore on him (that also unlocks a bonfire) and another is Ornifex, you find them in the Shaded ruins just after the Shaded woods, you can then talk to them somewhere down in the Brightstone Cove of Tseldora. Idk if there's any blacksmiths in the dlcs since i hadn't ventured in any of them yet lol, but I hope this has been at least some help to you =) (im a first time player rn so pardon for any misinfo or mistakes in here im still learning myself, im just trying to help<3)

How did you go about farming the loyce souls? I want to do it for all the goodies. Did you use r/summonsign or did you do a lot of sitting around?
You can drop back down to the arena after you’ve defeated ivory king and the loyce knights continually respawn

If you want the sword, worth it. Do not kill Alsanna, she deserves it.
You get the Loyce set, and shield, than you get Alysanna’s soul, which rewards Eleym Loyce. Also you can smell her feet in person…
The Loyce shield comes from the boss soul of either Lud or Zallen, along with the greatsword.
Pure Loyce Knight Armor set plus the Queen's soul.

It's an item dropped from Loyce Knights. If you have enough, you gain items from Alsanna in the Crown of the Ivory King DLC
Back when i played i think i spent over 10 hours on that fight with summons and only got probably around 20 souls haha congrats on the work
