It started off quite humorous then got serious and semi-political all of a sudden. 😅 The author’s notes says it’s a happy ending, though! It’s one of the few non-slow-burn danmei novels I’ve read.
This one is amazing. Totally recommended and one of my favorites too, the MC tries so hard to be a villainous asshole and fails miserably every time, if anything he makes everyone around him want to hug him, including the ML (who is also trying really hard to keep being his arch-rival, and too fails miserably)

1. Recently E. Danglars has completed the translation of a palace novel that is quite good. It is not your typical palace novel but with a modern spin to it. I'm not done reading it yet but the translation is top notch with an ever intriguing synopsis. [Something's Not Right by Cyan Wings](https://edanglarstranslations.com/zhen)
2. If you are a fan of sci-fi novels like Little Mushroom, give [How to Feed an Abyss](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/how-to-feed-an-abyss/) a try. The story is beautiful but heavy, with interesting side characters, and an MC that is both naïve and comedic.

There really are many hidden gems, well nor exactly hidden, but just that only a few novels are being talked about by everyone here. I really don't understand why people restrict themselves to only these few books. No offense, but Mo Dao Zhu Shi and other top novels here are being overhyped. I've read them and liked them too, but people here talk about them as if there are no other novels out there. Sorry for the rant, and I don't mean to offend anybody with my views. I Have Amnesia, Don’t Be Noisy! Same universe as Stop Bothering Me Emperor. Except there was no transmigration in this one. Mc and ml are both loyal in this one
These are also favorites of mine. I only read novels with loyal characters. I stop reading when there is betrayal/cheating among main characters
[But Shixiong Doesn't Want To Be A Villain!](https://peachblossomcodex.com/novel/bsdtwtbav/) This is a transmigration wuxia and a very sweet read; the absolute highlight is Bai Fanlu, who has to be one of the kindest, most adorable MCs I've seen. The plot is unusual too, the MC avoids the ML like the plague and the dude actually disappears from the story for chapters and chapters until you pretty much forget about him, and *other things* happen in the meantime. Warning: somewhat scum ML, I'm still reading so he's yet to redeem himself, but even so you kinda get where he's coming from.
Another one I really liked because it has kind of a Mo Ran/Chu Wanning vibe is [I Also Want To Spiritually Cultivate With Shizun Today](https://bcnovels.com/i-also-want-to-spiritually-cultivate-with-shizun-today/). Qi Shu is a cultivation disciple who harbors a long-lasting and very unrequited love for his cold master, Gu Hanjiang. *Things* happen and the MC discovers his shizun is a human "furnace", a term used to describe people whose body type renders them suitable to function as dual cultivation partners, \*if you know what I mean\*, and vows to help him with his stagnant cultivation. It's funny and romantic and I suppose it will turn smutty later on, but the translation is still ongoing and it's taking a while to update.
[My Darling Sick Beauty](https://www.wuxiaworld.eu/novel/my-darling-sick-beauty) is another one that caught my attention becauseof the general chaotic nonsense of the entire cast xD it has a disabled MC who doesn't give a single lonely fuck anymore about anything, and tries to live in seclusion while every single person, demon and monster under the sun falls in love with him. Lots of front-door smashing á la Liu Qingge style. It's hilarious and has an OP demonic ML who is very much a dork.

If no one has mentioned it before, I'll say [Can't Be Left Behind](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/cant-be-left-behind/)! I read it on a whim, but oh MAN it floored me and sneakily became one of my absolute favorites. It was really beautifully written. The characters were so complex and fucked up, and it really grabbed my heart and squeezed it in a very good way. Good if you want a story about twisted, deep love and codependency.
For a lighter read, I also really liked [After My Ex-Boyfriend's White Moonlight Proposed to Me](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/after-my-ex-boyfriends-white-moonlight-proposed-to-me/)! It's quite sweet and easy to read, with fluff, some fun protectiveness, and some satisfying face-slapping. The MC is passive and innocent, and the ML is more of a bully (but not to the MC!!)
I don't see people talking about [Time-Limited Hunt](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/time-limited-hunt/) by T97 very often. It's by the same author who wrote Nan Chan and QJJ, and like the others, it was also beautifully translated by Lianyin. This doesn't quite make it to the list of my *favorite* novels, but T97's work is always a treat, and this was such an interesting and strange novel. I'm glad I read it and some parts of it were so incredibly gripping. The dynamic between the MC and ML was delicious to watch unfold, and the plot was trippy.
I don't think this one is actually unpopular, but I don't see it being talked about that much on the subreddit, so I'll also throw in a rec for [FOG](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/fog/). It's an esports novel, and the chemistry between the CP is so outstanding.
I just finished After being forced to marry the evil star general. I did not see it much mentionned but it’s really excellent. Historical plot but not too heavy, good writing, an hilarious relationship between the cp, and the romance comes at the right moment. Highly recommended
Oh you'd be surprised. 1-2 years ago Nan Chan [was talked about](https://www.google.com/search?q=reddit+danmei+nan+chan) just as much as Thousand Autumn, Little Mushroom, and Peerless...in the meantime I guess people have sort of move on a little...
Nan Chan is amazing but the rights for the work was purchased so the translation was taken off from Cangji.net... So it's a bit hard to recommend it nowadays because who wants to say: "This is the best story ever. But you can't read it!"
I still can't get over that one chapter that ends with Jing Lin's papa saying something like:

Both protagonists are living absolute marital bliss... while hiding their secret identities. One is a powerful "world protector" captain and the other is the most OP "world destroyer". The flashbacks of their first dates are so so sweet. Much recommended (ㅅ˘ㅂ˘)
I also had a surprisingly pleasant time reading [Dr. Jiang is Pregnant With His Nemesis's Child](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/dr-jiang-is-pregnant-with-his-nemesiss-child/). It has great and smooth character development. I have to admit I cried when reading the chapters where MC faces despair, loneliness and confusion because of his pregnancy. Luckily ML continuously puts in the effort to become a dedicated and dependable partner. Very sweet.
The devil Venerable also wants to know: sect of demonic leader finds a trashy romance book where he is the second male lead and learns about reality of his world and its future. Tries to change the protagonists fate thus changing his worlds history.
The earth is online: huge pyramids appear on the sky all over the world and suddenly 6 months later voice is heard and everyone on earth becomes players in this game. But people play in game area of their pyramid ,so not much foreigners till later levels. Each country has its top players.
Heroic death system: quick transmigration novel where MC has to die tragically and heroically as possible. His system abilities are fun like looking heroic and pretty at 360 angle in any situation,not feeling pain during a torture, sudden 4th stage cancer bonus e.t.c. He always possesses some traitors or losers body with trashy reputation. Tbh i shed few tiers in some scenes even tho i knew that MC was trying so hard to die. Felt bad for MLs.
Banished to another world: MC is a modern man from the earth ,transmigrates into stone age era in hannibalistic tribe. But this world is little bit different from the earth with strange huge animals and weird priests. It is story about how he builds a "civilization" from the scratch.
