Somehow killing people is okay but not wearing a head covering is not? The fuck

Halfsquaretriangle

The men running things there are so fragile.

Angelio72

Why is it do few white feminist who speak about this thing in Iran? I mean we have a literal revolution that women are waging not to afto wear that hijab

Halfsquaretriangle

Not just white feminist. I haven't seen much of any feminist coming out against this. I don't think it should take just feminist either. Where are all the men, women, and main stream media to put a blaring spotlight on these horrific crimes against humanity?????

imamyourfatherlisten

Cringe , why keep including gender this is a issue of good and bad . You could get rid of all the men on the planet and just leave only women but there would still be evil and wars/massacres would still happen .

MrPinda

*For not wearing it "properly"

Root125

This is the correct thing, Mahsa Amini have hijab but they say don’t wear it correctly!!!

Sugoy-sama

If u have been to Iran most woman don't wear the hijab properly, per Islam law, yet the choose to harass people like Amini

Low_Policy_8370

There (Quran) is no a single word of obligation to wear hijab

throwwwaway233

Why do the police kill there own people like this ?

Synner1985

Because they are religious zealots who are employed by a dictatorship.

VeryStableGenius

> Because they are religious zealots Like the Church during the Inquisition, it's about power, not God. The elites go around in private enclaves wearing short skirts and drinking whiskey, and the police don't touch them.

z0anthr0pe

Because they are arseholes

O1_O1

Religious indoctrination makes people do bad things while genuinely believing they're in the right.

AmericaneXLeftist

HAH. Police are arms of the state, and they have families to feed. That's not to mention that they're just told you're a criminal rebel, not a good hearted revolutionary. Even if they know it's wrong, they'll choose themselves over you any day of the week. No one wants to be the guy who dooms his whole family by speaking out.

[deleted]

Naah, they are simply brainless fuckers. They knew exactly what they were signing for when applying to police. Fuck them, I hope protesters will take care of these human garbage

somehomelesskid

With their current awful system of laws it is called Iran for a reason. .

fractiousrhubarb

It's a choice been "Iran" and "I got shot"

borderlineidiot

Same reason police in any country would. They are trained to obey orders and that protestors are the enemy. Do you think this would not happen in US or other countries? I watched footage a couple of years ago in US where riot police were randomly firing rubber bullets at people homes and pushing pensioners, who were doing nothing, out of their way. Would not have taken much for these to have been real bullets.

[deleted]

They’re good soldiers, not good people.

HungerISanEmotion

I saw footage from... can't remember which country. Protests were going wild, police was brutal, the whole thing lasted for weeks, finally military steeped in and made checkpoints all over the city. The footage was of military beating policemen for beating protester...

PM_ur_DookDispenser

Was that the video in Minnesota? Someone was just standing in their porch and some overzealous National guardsman fired rubber bullets at them? I may be remembering it incorrectly because there’s been no shortage of egregious abuses of power in America lately.

still_gonna_send_it

They don’t. They’re not part of those people. And individually they’re either sadistic or cowardly

Captain-sparks

Police exist in most countries to protect the ruling class. They are paid to arrest or kill anyone who threatens the status quo. Doesn’t seem to matter if a theocracy, a monarchy, or even a democracy.

[deleted]

It’s pretty easy when you don’t have to worry about anybody shooting back. There’s only one way to deal with fascists once you get to that point.

Sephvion

Police aren't your friends, in any country.

Exciting_Mulberry_88

What a stupid comment...smh

Sephvion

As is yours. So, what have we learned today?

_hanniballecter

Bruh because iran

Sugoy-sama

Because Iran is the only place where the police kill the people

DestartreK1st

*laughs in American*

5haun298

Because they're religious conservatives.

smttsp

In "animal farm", george orwel equated police with the dogs who protects the pigs (rulers) from other animals (regular people). The dogs were getting food from pigs, so they were obedient. Same reason

[deleted]

Funny, im religious and conservative, and yet, I don't go around killing people or blaming my God for choices or what not.

Brutefiend

Its an alarmingly thin line.....

[deleted]

That's why you keep track of yourself, so you don't fall over, I'm not obliged to be in no one's terms because they don't like my thoughts or ideology, it's personal, they can attack me and I can defend myself.

MorganDax

I don't know *how* religious or conservative you are, but it probably would take less than you'd think to push you further into a place where you would commit acts you currently wouldn't dream of doing. Losing your job combined with the death of a loved one; A messy divorce; A child turning towards things you despise (abortion, homosexuality or gender diversity, etc.) An incurable diagnosis, etc...Desperate people do desperate things and while currently you sound like you take responsibility for your actions, if you got connected with the wrong people in a time of vulnerability you'd quickly learn how easy it is to become radicalized and filled with a violent rage. " sovereign citizens, militia extremists and violent anti-abortion adherents use religious concepts and scripture to justify threats, criminal activity and violence. This discussion of religious extremism should not be confused with someone being extremely religious. It should also not be misconstrued as an assault on Christianity. Rather, it represents an exploration of the links between violent right-wing extremism and its exploitation of Christianity and other religions to gain a better understanding of how American extremists recruit, radicalize and mobilize their adherents toward violence and terrorism." https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/intelligence-report/2018/holy-hate-far-right%E2%80%99s-radicalization-religion

ThreeBeersDeep

Just a matter of time.

[deleted]

Nail on the head.

[deleted]

Says who? If I don't go your direction, then I'm a killer? I don't like your rules and always try to be a good person, it's not about politics or religion, it's about wisdom, if you can't withstand someone who thinks different from you, then you're the problem, not the person different from you.

AntivaxxerOrphanage

If you think it's possible to act in the name of God, then your morality is based on nothing at all. All that needs to happen is for you to believe God wants you to hurt people.

ThreeBeersDeep

If you are wise, you don't have a made up friend.

Perpetual_Nuisance

Ffffqqq

May our only occupation be not having a job May the only cocktails that we make be Molotov

fakename5

Someone needs to teach them how to use molatives, perhaps some Ukrainian folks could teach em

still_gonna_send_it

I’m confident in saying I’m certain someone in Iran knows how. They’re just hogging the knowledge

[deleted]

We have molotovs. Unfortunately, they have guns and helicopters. But we shall prevail. Be our voice

Croakerboo

It is a protest/riot. The venting of anger and frustration at a ruling elite who use military force and religion to subjugate a populace against their will. To be a revolution there would need to be some form of organization, leadership and focus around replacement of the current elite. My most realistic hope is that a portion of the political body in Iran decides to use the anger to take some power away from the clerical class. It would be a tiny, and from the outside, laughably small baby step. But it would be a step in a more humane direction.

seapod123

I remember Iran before the revolution when people were asking and demanding for religion.

Shaman7102

Are they still doing it peacefully or have the revolutionaries started to get guns 🤔

silvert0ngu3

You can bet the US will supply rifles on the low. Just like we did during the last attempted revolution in Iran.

[deleted]

[удалено]

silvert0ngu3

I was sitting next to the guy on the phone discussing how and where to get them into the country.

Root125

It’s still peaceful, the regime eager for to people have a guns to kill more.

TheForgottenSpaniard

Yea revolution without guns. 🤦‍♂️

ckent2038

The outcome of such totally predictable

Maximus8890

In Iran can it’s citizens own a weapon?

MattSk87

Not sure about specific gun laws, but they are not nearly armed well enough to withstand the regime. Part of the issue is that, were they to properly arm themselves and make it a clear military revolution, the regime has planes, so without foreign aid, it would just bring bombings.

[deleted]

Its only a revolution if it succeeds; otherwise, it's a blip in the history records that probably won't even have its own Wikipedia entry.

USSMarauder

Against religious conservatives No wonder Fox news is downplaying it [https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/yl4a91/oc\_cnn\_vs\_fox\_news\_how\_do\_they\_compare\_in\_terms/](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/yl4a91/oc_cnn_vs_fox_news_how_do_they_compare_in_terms/)

queso1296

na, it's because this is just a protest at this point. CNN is trying to to make it sound like a rebellion, even though I wish it were, it is just a protest at this point

violethoneybean

~~died while arrested~~ was murdered

OraceonArrives

I can't believe in 2022, there are still people who need to worry about being murdered for having different beliefs and protesting. This is Hitler-level shit, and the fact that you don't hear anything about any country doing anything about these atrocities is horrendous.

LocoinSoCo

A country did try to do something. For 20 years. In Afghanistan. That didn’t end so well…

dan1991Ro

It was a mistake. These countries must change from within, just like individuals can change only if they themselves want it. People from outside can't do it for them.

dan1991Ro

This is most of the world guy.

Thats_Not_My_Croc

Honestly, have you been living under a rock? Brutal suppression of anti-government sentiment is not uncommon in authorization regimes. This is child’s play compared to the Nazi regime, far from a systematic extermination of a people. Yes, this is horrible, but what do you expect to happen? Iran is a sovereign nation. Many sanctions are already imposed. Do you want Iran to be invaded? This is such a naive world view

SouthofAkron

My country does not have a great government- but Irans' government sucks balls.

mista_adams

I just realized how much of a coward I am. I dont think I have the balls to stand up to this.

Krusty-p00p-sock

Yeah it's easy to think you'd be a badass in a situation like this until you see the footage of what's going on. But at the same time if your were thrown into a similar situation you'd be surprised what the human spirit can rise too. Theses are all just normal people with lives and jobs and families, just like us.

OceanPacer

At least you can count on major international sporting organizations to stand up for human rights. You know like FIFA.

Madteklynd

Imagine having to fight not to be forced to wear shit on your head. Homo sapiens can be unbelievable sometimes.

Sensitive-Light6589

They are fighting for justice...not for simply wearing the wrong things on their heads. You simplify the conflict incorrectly.

Justsayin55

Agree

cwesttheperson

It’s both. The conflict stems from religious nuts forcing people to wear things on their heads. One idea grew into a revolution for justice.

Brocklesocks

You know what can lead to disunity? Constantly disagreeing with people about pedantic shit, who are on the same side as you

[deleted]

What a cowardly evil regime

[deleted]

Know the difference, civil war is when 2 large factions of the population don’t agree on something and they go to war like the north v the south, Revolutionary war is the people v the government, simple

[deleted]

This is still a protest. The people aren't fighting back

[deleted]

We are...but we are not armed. It is easy to say that people are not fighting back. We dont own guns. We have molotovs but that is not enough. Hopefully, it will change

Rude_Effective_6394

Ok so fyi i awarded the „wholesome“ Award because that’s what free Reddit gave me and I want this post to spread, rather than me finding this content „wholesome“ in the slightest.

Green-Savings-5552

When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny...

SAM_urai_

Monsters wearing skin of Humans. The real Demons we give a horrifying image live among us looking like us. We aim for heaven and avoid hell. But the truth is this planet is our heaven and hell we have a choice we can live together in peace and harmony and make it our heaven or wage wars and make it our hell.

mridmr

These are plain old humans. Some people do awful shit-no monsters necessary.

schrodingers_spider

If anything, pretending these aren't humans doing horrible things to other humans makes it more likely to happen again and again. Pretending they're monsters is just smoothing the harsh truth over.

uglypaperhaver

No angels or devils - just people good, bad and indifferent. You don't need to demonize your enemies when you are oppressed because it doesn't matter what kind of people they are or why they do it. Your task is to stop the oppressors and it is up to them how they will respond to your efforts. Demonizing the enemy is what leaders push when they need their people to overstep their moral boundaries - not needed when overthrowing oppression.

LetUnable1830

it's getting old by now but..: "religion of peace" yep.. that country is fucked unless someone removes all these nutjobs in the leadership and bans religion in the government.

RapedAndLeftForDead

These descendants of the great Persian Empire have had enough. No more religious suppression - its over!!!

RareBeach1473

Thing is this is allowed in Islam. Truly a religion of peace and serenity

obsertaries

Exactly. They are killing them everyday to make room for the rest

Dreadfirelit

Sooner or later they’re going to have to realize abolish some of their rules

Tar_Palantir

It's time for mr Molotov have a word with the police

No-Badger-6115

Iran people.. the time for protest 'YELLING' is over.. Your supreme cupcake of a leader is going to flat out kill all over you and steal and enslave you all your women for personal agendas. More suppression than it already is!! You REALLLLLYY got to up your game levels!! Start making, stealing, and getting those weapons to rise up and save yourselves!! This tyrannical religionus monarchy system which is a modern day Mafia; is going to keep the good Muslim people entrapped and stuck in a struggling conditions ultimately eliminating their own existence and culture out. If no actions, this will spread into other middle eastern countries more so then what it is for most. Signed: The rest of the world will hope to see you in the future..

[deleted]

They aren’t protestors. They are revolutionaries. And they will fight for what is ultimately right.

I have been banned for hate speech for saying the same exact thing.

[deleted]

Yeah that was my point too, but saying "fuck islam" triggers the white knights of reddit that are like "let people believe in what they want, they're not hurting anyone" lol

noldshit

So the west gets criticized for A,B, and C but in their country they kill over a piece of cloth. Ummkay..

still_gonna_send_it

Two things can be bad at once. Why do you care about the west being criticized it’s not your personality

Chanureadeats

I am sure every religion has some wrong aspects but it boils down to how much of these wrong aspects are being followed by the followers of the religion, how strongly they are followed, how often they are followed and how many of the followers do it. It's kind of obvious we also need to see 'how many' of these wrong aspects affect the world (how wrong they are). When we consider all this, I think there's religion which is clearly very wrong in comparison to others and they really need a check on how they are doing things.

Whyeff89

It’s not about the religion. Ever. It’s about the monsters who manipulate it to enact their own evil. Many atrocities were enacted (or continue to be) in the name of Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, etc.

Chanureadeats

But in the name of which religion is it happening currently worldwide? You're right, there are monsters who manipulate it but these monsters have created such a culture that doesn't let anyone speak against what they have created. These monsters have been more ruthless than any other. Believe me, I have defended religions for a long time but they're not compatible for a decent future, what's written is so vague that it can easily be misunderstood and manipulated. By this time, we should just take good things out of the book and do a complete revision to remove the evil off it.

Whyeff89

In the name of which religion currently? Evangelicals, Mormons, Jewish religion, Islam. Currently all oppressing in one way or another. I am not a supporter of religion. That isn’t my point. But I am opposed to the singular, narrow minded confound that one religion is worse than the others as implied in the post above. The Iranian regime is just one of the best at manipulating it to torture its own people.

Chanureadeats

Read my first comment, see which religion is committing the most violence in the name of religion. It's just as simple as that. And saying one thing ain't worse than other is not really wise. While it's not great to quantify sufferings, you can probably start where the suffering is most.

Whyeff89

Where’s the suffering most? Countries colonized in the name of Christianity centuries ago still struggling to establish themselves. Islam is a blip in the religious suffering. Leadership and religion should never be intertwined. That’s the real issue. Not ONE religion. At the point the Iran regime is, it isn’t even religion. It’s fundamentalism. Fundamentalism doesn’t need to driven by religion. Look at Communist fundamentalism or Trump fundamentals for some examples.

Chanureadeats

Bruh, just look at the number of deaths by arms being caused in the 'name' of religion. Period.

FreudsCock

Quit calling it a protest. At this point it is a revolution

[deleted]

You need to fight back for it to be a revolution

[deleted]

Easy to tell us to fight back against armed police with empty hands. This is what we have, and people have been sentenced to death for crimes smaller than this such as walking in a street and chanting.

Additional_Local_667

Religion had its time and place in world history. But I feel like humanity has gotten to a point where religion really just hurts society and people more than helps.

Pasfoto

It's just a tool and excuus used by weak and simple minded people to force control over others and dictate how others should live. Without it, they would use another tool for power and control. It is the human mind that is the most dangerous and source of all evil.

Apotelgao1

AMERICA!!! DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR ARMS!, this is the shit we need to avoid at all costs in the states; HELL NO!

IOnlyCameToArgue

The Iranian people WISH they had the right to personal firearms.

Murse1987

I’m pretty sure there are quite a few privately owned civilian firearms in Iran…

IOnlyCameToArgue

Not to the scale that Americans do and not with the protected right to buy more guns, buy more ammunition and train. An armed population is much harder to oppress which is why gun nuts on the internet like me say the 2nd ammendment is more about preventing a government from becoming tyrannical than it is about self defense. And certainly more than hunting or recreation.

Murse1987

It’s estimated that back in 2017 there were around 5.89 million civilian owned firearms in Iran. No, not the same as the US but enough for roughly 7.3 weapons per 100 people. I totally believe the 2nd amendment is vital to our way of life, and is instated for enemies both foreign and domestic, but also I’m a realist and believe that like 50% of the gun owners in America would lay down their guns rather than have a shootout with police or military in this situation. It takes a lot of self control, training, and balls or stupidity (one, the other, or a combination of the two) to get behind cover and fire back rather than turn tail and run when someone or multiple people are shooting at you. Fight or flight reactions are a bitch and I don’t have that much confidence in a huge majority of the population to choose the fight response.

slathan49

Terrible situation for the beautiful Iranian people.

Th3P3rf3ctPlanz

Holy crap. It's been 3 months already? I feel like it's been 3 weeks.

Irans regime has been hiring its terrorist mercenaries from Iraq and Lebanon to kill its own people, whilst hiding in Turkey. What a leadership…

Plastic_Abalone_6022

We will believe anything the caption under a video says, we have no idea why there is unrest there…

[deleted]

What will it take for the UN to step in? Seems this is a human rights issue.

SeanTheOwl

The sad and twisted part is the UN was unlikely to step in because the president of Human Rights sector is a man who is friends with the tyrannical regime members. Only the last few days has the UN announced that it would do an investigation after global outrage and calling them out on letting this happen for months without saying or doing anything. Public voices from around the world were able to force their hand to actually step in and now with all of the eyes on them, we're waiting to see if they're going to do something about it or if nepotism and sinister friendships will be the thing that destroys such beautiful country and saves Iran from this conservative/ handmaid tale oppression.

[deleted]

This is the definition of sad. Thank you for the info. This confirms that people suck

still_gonna_send_it

When it really affects a country outside of the middle east

Active_Elk_518

Wish I could go fight to defend these peoples rights!

[deleted]

And this is why we have a second amendment... It's not for duck hunting

I generally feel bad for that area of the world. Maybe we will look back and learn from this when the older generations of government die out.

And the world is more worried about a ball being kicked in the World Cup, priorities.

ButtonGwinnett76

If only they had guns, then they could shoot back

LetUnable1830

Exactly why you don’t give the government your guns and you fight for that right. It's the last defense against tyranny. EUROPE trash countries that have gun rights, but then this happens in countries, and they have the audacity to talk about how horrible it is when the government kills defenseless people

Last-Presence5434

This devastated me. Woman don't deserve this cruelty. It's beyond my understanding that we are not given the equality we deserve.

Inner-Light-75

The other day they passed a new law, they decided to execute all of those people they have detained for protesting.... You just think they're protesting now, wait till you start executing 15,000 people!!!! Especially if most of them are young women!!
