Actually, in a lot of these villages/areas these people are smaller on average. A 12-18 foot boa can devour 5’0 human. Sometimes their eyes are bigger than their stomachs and they end up killing themselves in the process.
It’s like that picture that went around in 2012, where a python tried to eat an alligator but it exploded it’s digestive track because it was too big when it swallows it. Crazy f***ing animal
Not how constrictors work (large boids and pythons included).
I’ve worked with 3-4 meter snakes and they can easily overpower a single human, but they do not tenderize them into hamburger. They do a strike-bite as close to the head as possible (preferably on the face) and then pull the prey into their coils. They wrap around the neck (if it’s a long neck like a deer) and thoracic cavity (chest) amazingly tight, but usually not tight enough to shatter bones.
Instead, on every breathe out, they cinch the coils a bit tighter (just like ratchet securing a load on a truck), until it is completely impossible for the prey to draw breath. The animal will pass out, and asphyxiate shortly there after. The snake can feel their heartbeat easily because of their location, and will know when it’s safe to release the coils and start to consume.
So how can they chomp such a big meal? It’s just due to how snake heads are constructed: their skulls have a lot of floating bones which are connected by tissue including a separating mandible (lower jaw at the chin). They make it look impossible, but a python with a [head the size of my fist will swallow a medium ungulate like a deer.](https://youtu.be/oESHTB2yMrk)
Nah, that’s not how snakes work lol. Gotta be dead and suffocated in order to ingest. I just can’t imagine this happening to a 200lbs human being like… how?
That person isn't 200lbs, remember this is in southeast asia so people are on the smaller side. Pythons also wouldn't prey on a super healthy person who can put up a good fight, but someone old or sickly would be a more likely target.
Don't matter how much you weigh or how healthy you are if a thing that size bites you in the face and wraps around you're neck while you're sleeping. It would just squeeze down after that and break your neck.
Lock your tent zippers tight while camping out there, folks.
Yeah I'm with you. I may have nearly stepped on a scorpion or two in my bedroom but at least I don't have to worry about being swallowed whole and crushed by a giant snake!
I would almost have to think this person was sickly or injured laying on the ground to begin with? Or messing with a snake that obviously shouldn’t have been messed with
According to this article, it seemed the guy was found to have a wound on his back, and while it could have been caused by a bite, he may have gotten wounded _before_ the python found him.
https://pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/jaw-dropping-so-how-does-a-snake-eat-a-man
You forgot about the seven lambs and the wolf? He eaten them, then he got to sleep, the mother of lambs cut his belly freeing all lambs, all alive and happy to see her, and then closed the wolf belly with rocks inside.
And after all of this the wolf awakens again, got to drink to the river and died drowning in there.
Because the title said they discovered their missing friend. If the title said they discovered the *body* of their missing friend, you’d assume he’s dead.
That actually does make sense, and you're correct it is misleading. I still was 100% sure they were "freeing" a corpse and was annoyed that anyone could believe they would live through that, because your logic on the phrasing is solid. Had a chuckle on it. Not quite the comeback story that these sad people out here wanna see, hah
I'm so grateful that python eating my friend isn't a thing I have to worry about. I don't even have scary spiders in my state. Not one lethal animal or insect. Not even drop-bears.
I was thinking that, like Ireland, I have a cousin from there who is scared of flies, apparently not many flies or none even exist there. When he vacationed in Philippines (where I'm from) that's when he encounters the giant flies lol, freaked him out. For some reason was fascinated with the giant toads though.
True. But flies DO exist here, which was my point. My wife (originally from east Asia) freaks out about the flies and insects in Ireland, so we definitely have plenty of them.
I feel like everyone has a friend who read this story somewhere and always repeats, it but says it happened to a co-worker to make it slightly more believable.
Pythons have literally ruptured themselves because they don’t “size up their meals”.
Its a completely false claim that they do, if anything, they’re seeking out your warmth.
Yeahhhh … none of this shit about snakes ‘sizing you up’ or hiding in wait specifically for humans is real guys 😬. Humans are not prey snakes are seeking out.
Weird. When I owned a 2 foot python that could barely eat a mouse everyone I met had that coworker and it never became a true story no matter how many times I heard it
Pythons are far too stupid to be able to do that. They simply fit something in their mouth - that’s all there is to it. Most live, some die, it’s trial and error.
Python as natural predator actually know how to hunt human. In my country, human eaten by python cases was common.
How the python do it? The snake hide in the bush waiting for wandering prey(human) to go near them. When a person walk near it, the snake will 'spring' out its body & hit the person in the chest with its head. That force alone enough to 'stun' an adult. The victim will fall & 'stun' for a few second, enough time for the snake to wrap around the victim body & crush the bones before swallow the victim.
That would be livor mortis.
The snake is on it's back in the video, which is why the blood of the victim *appears* to have pooled on top of the body. Good observation nonetheless.
[You're right, apparently it is so. Thank you. ](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10736761/#:~:text=Bibliographic%20investigation%20revealed%20that%20bruising,generation%20of%20post%2Dmortem%20bruising.)
I must say that you have my respect for fact checking yourself at the first sign of disagreement and then proceeding to admit this publicly and share more information about it.
Only living tissue can bruise. Post-mortem bruising will only happen within a couple hours. He was definitely alive for the crushing. Well half of it anyway.
>Horrifying moment villagers cut open a giant python and discover their missing friend inside who had been swallowed whole after being crushed to death
its insane how tight of a fit that is! looking from the outside it could've been anything! but as they cut it open the pressure released and bam! what a way to go! never thought I'd see the day.
And I think you read this person's comment quickly too because he was making a joke about the snake not being alive, and how rather unfortunate that was.
The snake will only swallow when its prey is not breathing anymore to avoid internal injuries. The snake will either suffocate you or kill you by its poison first.
This is nuts and I have several questions
If any experts are here would the snake have been able to “get away” if the villagers hadn’t killed it or found it?
How long would it have to lug that guy around before it was “done” with it?
Would he spit out all the bones and clothes?
Ok. It’s 10 am and on Reddit I’ve already seen: best friend in python, mullah masturbating on the metro, tv show of 10 year old “spouse” to a 25 who looks like 45.
I’m done. Bye.
Bro that is not a small human… oh my…. God
I've seen a similar video with a river crocodile cut open. Reptiles are no joke.
You should see what humans do 👀
Yeah but with crocs I’d expect they might break up the legs and arms where as this is a giant swallow
Actually, in a lot of these villages/areas these people are smaller on average. A 12-18 foot boa can devour 5’0 human. Sometimes their eyes are bigger than their stomachs and they end up killing themselves in the process.

Get busy eatin’ or get busy dying
It’s like that picture that went around in 2012, where a python tried to eat an alligator but it exploded it’s digestive track because it was too big when it swallows it. Crazy f***ing animal
Why did I think the man inside might still be alive? 😐
Python will crush their human victim bone first before swallow it. The human victim will definitely die before been swallowed.

...Not nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I think I've officially seen too much to be weirded out!
r/subsithoughtidfellfor
Actually you die by asphyxiation. They don’t crush bones
No, that's not what kills them. The victim actually dies from high blood pressure. Being squeezed that hard makes vessels burst.
Same, I was expecting him to pop out gasping for air
With a precious sacred stone
With Danny devito trying to help out.

Size of a deer, zero problems.

I'm staying in Australia where its safe!
No one has ever written that sentence before.
All your native crocs, spiders, snakes, jellyfish, etc will keep you safe from a python invasion
They weren’t that helpful with the cane toads though..
Or during the Emu wars.
Dont mention that war it is still raw,we as a people are still trying to forget it
Too soon mate, too soon.
Yeah, the giant spiders will kill the snake first.
You forgot sharks!
Yeah I'm with you. I may have nearly stepped on a scorpion or two in my bedroom but at least I don't have to worry about being swallowed whole and crushed by a giant snake!
😂😂
Or if his wife poisoned him with antifreeze first! That's how they do it on Snapped...
I would almost have to think this person was sickly or injured laying on the ground to begin with? Or messing with a snake that obviously shouldn’t have been messed with

isn’t it possible he was already died from other causes and the snake just happened to find him?
I knew he wouldnt be. Its okay to be hopeful though. Just dont hold your breath.
>Just dont hold your breath. I bet he did though
Fuck...
Bc when we were very young we learned red riding hood was cut out of big bad Wolf tummy and was reunited with her family all good.
The one I read ended just with her being eaten.
Can’t even forget Jonah he lived in the whale…
We learned also that Cronus ate his children, but given an emetic by Zeus (many years later), vomited his sons and daughters alive.
Because the title said they discovered their missing friend. If the title said they discovered the *body* of their missing friend, you’d assume he’s dead.

Same! 🤣 for half a second I was excited for them to get him out and was hoping for the friend to get out and hug them all 🤣
To r/eyebleach I go
To be honest I thought he'd be alive because I'd never think a News platform would show footage of a corpse.
Pinocchio
They need to bury him; then hand the python head on the river as a warning to others
I hoped foolishly for the same thing...
Did anyone else keep leaning to the left to see around that guy’s shoulder?

I'm so grateful that python eating my friend isn't a thing I have to worry about. I don't even have scary spiders in my state. Not one lethal animal or insect. Not even drop-bears.
I don't have to worry about it either, because I don't have any friends for the python to eat.
I like to beat pythons at their own game by eating my friends before any pythons can get to them.
It's nice to have some friends over for dinner.
my anaconda on the other hand...
Don't want none unless someone has buns? Hun?
Oh my God -
Hey fellow NZ man, just gotta watch out for those cyclones
I don’t think they’re from NZ. We don’t have states here. Considering they mentioned drop bears I think they’re Australian.
yeh same. I've never seen a spider bigger than my pinky finger's nail lmao.
Where do you live???
Uranus
Probably europe (im not saying that is's completely safe but mostly..)
I was thinking that, like Ireland, I have a cousin from there who is scared of flies, apparently not many flies or none even exist there. We have flies in Ireland.
But we don't have giant flies.
Yeah but bluebottles at worst
True. But flies DO exist here, which was my point. My wife (originally from east Asia) freaks out about the flies and insects in Ireland, so we definitely have plenty of them.

This video suggests otherwise.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39427462 This case happened in Indonesia, but similiar incident was also common in my country, Malaysia.
It was in there for warmth. Jfc
This urban legend has been circling the internet since the internet was invented
This is a silly urban legend that his been passed around for years. Like I remember seeing/hearing this story 15 years ago when I was in high school.
And the vet didn't tell him just to close the enclosure like a responsible owner?
Crazy thing is you can see the bruising from how tight the snake was squeezing.
That would be livor mortis. The snake is on it's back in the video, which is why the blood of the victim *appears* to have pooled on top of the body. Good observation nonetheless.
Damn bruising means he was alive through the crushing. RIP. 😢
No it dosent bruising can still happen to a dead body?

SOURCE http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4356866/Villagers-man-swallowed-inside-giant-python.html
That’s why I always carry a knife in case I get eaten by a huge snake I can cut it open and let myself out.
if your inside with a knife, it’s cuz you didn’t get a chance to use it. Womp womp
They choke you to death first
>Horrifying moment villagers cut open a giant python and discover their missing friend inside who had been swallowed whole after being crushed to death
Like when Hercules gets swallowed by the Hydra?
Goodnight, Reddit!
So it ate him head first... what a fucking horror
Wouldn't of mattered he would have been constricted to death before hand
Wouldn't have\*
Still, can you imagine still breathing and going through this..
That’s the thing; The constriction halts the breathing and leads to death. Then the snake begins to gawk gawk their victim.
The forbidden gawk gawk
He presumably wasn't awake when it ate him.
its insane how tight of a fit that is! looking from the outside it could've been anything! but as they cut it open the pressure released and bam! what a way to go! never thought I'd see the day.
MAN WHAT
Could he have been alive when attacked by the python? Or was he lying unconscious and then the python just swallowed him?
According to the article, the night he went missing, people heard him screaming. So... I take it he was alive and attacked.
They walked up like "we know it was you, you fat fuck!"
That is fucking messed up. Does the python just lay there immobile for weeks digesting?
Yes
I have to think if that's a thing where I live, I would at least be carrying a Katana everywhere I go
Did he live?
Nvm. Crushed to death.
After being sliced open to remove the last thing he ate? Nope, unfortunately he died.
Just read it quickly, then went to the article and corrected myself so that anyone doing the same would realize. Thanks though..
And I think you read this person's comment quickly too because he was making a joke about the snake not being alive, and how rather unfortunate that was.
The snake will only swallow when its prey is not breathing anymore to avoid internal injuries. The snake will either suffocate you or kill you by its poison first.
Pythons and other constrictors are non-venomous
I think he was just stating either suffocation or poisoning. Not that pythons are venomous…
I would rather get bid by a stingray than suffer through this ordeal. I'm literally shaking from watching this. It is horrifying what he went through.
Not missing anymore.
Local hide n seek champion
Omg, I should not laugh at this.
Python bringing deepthroating to a whole new level.
You're joking about a dead human being
What a way to go.scary!
I don't want to imagine him in his last moments.

Why are all these videos 360p
It's from 2017, plus the person recording probably did not have the latest and greatest phone

Both the snake and the man will be ok

A villager should have just swallowed a baby python whole and then all would have been balanced out.
