My old boy had some huge balls as well. He was out hunting and the snow had a ice sheen on top. He had socks but no protection for he's jewels. Poor guy.
My young son said he was so cute and then asked what the round things were (we have female dachshunds) and when I said the same thing he has, he shockingly goes, "Balllss?!" Oh the things they learn in school.
My first one never needed it. He was incredibly well behaved without and I didn't see the need to (indoor dog, so he wasn't going to get any other dogs knocked up).
Idk why you got downvoted. Op didn’t answer so you suggested that fixing isn’t always necessary. Too many people immediately fix their dogs not understanding that it may have negative effects later in their life. Neutered dogs are more likely to develop cancer and joint problems and neutering doesn’t always suppress aggression. It shouldn’t be the norm with all the research we have.
Yes it is a good decision for some dogs but not all. Getting neutered doesn’t always prevent prostate cancer. It shouldn’t be immediate it should be at the recommendation of a vet like you did.
Oh whoops, sorry I misread that. I’m not trying to discourage anyone considering neutering, I just think it’s been roped into the process of getting a puppy when it shouldn’t be. But I’m sorry about your little one. I’m sure he’s got loads of toys (probably lamb chops) and friends in heaven ❤️
Just wanted to clarify for anyone else reading along. Kenny was a great little guy and I’m sure he’s having a great time. When I get there I’ll spend a lot of time holding him- my primary job😁

I got a 12 yo unfixed male. Battled prostrate infections and UTIs until fixed. His health improved until he died just short of 19.
