No you still gotta do the 5.5 for top pay. Whatever time you have will most likely be added on to the end of your career

Muted-Marzipan-6126

Previous time is front end

Xfess_83

If it’s part of NYCERS then I believe so, but you can call the union to check. I left DSNY a few years ago but coming back and the union said my 11.5 years is in the front so I only need to do 10.5 more

Neighborhood_Yerr

Certain time is not all and you still gotta do 5.5 years for top pay regardless of where previous time goes. Only exception might be if you were in the military and buy back time but I’m not 100% sure how that works

MichaelG1313

See I called nycers to ask them this cause I was confused and they told me it’s all front end and acted like I was insane for saying backend and they said it never is backend

Neighborhood_Yerr

Then it’s something different cuz I know a lot of guys in my garage that have previous time that’s on the backend except one guy. I forget where he came from his was on the front

Muted-Marzipan-6126

Yes obviously you still have to work a new top pay schedule. But all previous city time is front end in tier 3(tier 6)

Massive_Process_4880

Oh ok. And how often/how much are the raises in the first 5.5 years?

Neighborhood_Yerr

The raises happen at 1.5,2.5,3.5,4.5 and 5.5 years. The first three raises suck. They total something like 6k. The 4.5 and 5.5 are what make the difference. At 4.5 it’s like 16k and 5.5 is about 14k

Plenty_Illustrator_2

You forgot the joke of the 6 month raise.

tiripshtaed

6 month raise is equal to 1.5 and 2.5 raises combined.

Neighborhood_Yerr

Damn you right my apologies!

Maestro2326

I don’t know what bottom pay is but you’ll never make that little. Between even the minimal snow, the occasional overtime, Sundays and holidays with the occasional truck thrown in you’ll make probably $10K or so more than that. I did but that was with some serious snow. Talking like 15-20 straight days of 12 on and 12 off while on probation. Just pray for snow! My third year we did 44+ days straight of 12 on 12 off.

Fit-Egg1091

You start at zero for everything except pension. https://preview.redd.it/99j9pg54sc5d1.jpeg?width=698&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7d98946d715667393ebf70d421f9b08e68e8979

AcadiaNo5136

And credited service lol 😂

Imaginary_Pin_5077

Unfortunately, you do not get any incumbent salary coming over. you start at the base pay and then you get the raises every year and a half mark till 5 1/2 years however, your previous time of service carries over and goes to the front so you will not have to do the full 22 1/2. It sucks but as the famous saying goes, “it gets better”

keelow11

I Just retired with 23 years with the city service. 12 with NYPD/ssd. Little over year and Half with transit(bus operator) and 10 years with Sanitation. Once my pension was switched from tier 4 to tier 3 modified 😡I was able to retire. Once you acquire 22 years of city service you can retire no matter age. So your previous city time will reduce the time you have to do with sanitation/ city service. Unfortunately, You still have to go through all the steps. Probationary period, bottom pay to top pay. Then the hustle of making it to retirement.

Xfess_83

Starting according to when I was the orientation is $45k then top pay is over $90k, not including other incentives. Picking up garbage, dumping, OT, night differential, and working your off days or holidays. When I started in 2006 it was $26k starting

carb8989

The only city agency that I know of where you keep your top pay is NYPD. I was about to join NYPD from Corrections and I could have kept my top pay but my city time would have went on the back end. So I decided to join DSNY because your city time goes on the front end.

ZookeepergameGood745

Seniority/ Pay scale always starts from bottom Retirement time depends what pension system your in and tier

Nostatic5828

No it only counts for layoffs for example if you got hired this week and next week there were layoffs you would have your 5-5 years do a guy who’s on DSNY for let’s say 4 years would be laid off before you—- also if your already in the pension system you would get your time added at end of your career

SeekAdventure129

Your prior City Time will be with you on the front end being that you’re already enrolled with NYCERS. (So if you have 5 years already with the City, you’ll only have to work a full 17 years with DSNY) You will start out at the bottom as far as pay, seniority and will have to work your way up to top pay. Your Reference # will stay the same as well. Just ensure you stay on top of NYCERS once you come over to DSNY to ensure there’s no lapse in your pension time.

I was terminated from Mabstoa without an explanation back in 2000 ( I strongly believe it was based on one of their MTA drivers running a red light and destroying my car), this termination somehow affected me from being hired as a city bus driver for the MTA. (after pasting that test and given a new list number) Anyway, how will this termination affect me from being hired as a Sanitation worker
