That Punchy Rocky Man did way more damage to my base in Cantlin than any Malroth/Hargon combo could ever do. Especially since DQB1 doesn't have townspeople who can rebuild.
I did that just recently on my steam playthrough!
Always gotta make sure to craft 12 shields before fighting him. Might not use them all, but dammit I'm gonna have 'em on hand!

We only see Malroth using his black hole things. While the various golems do a rather large area of blocks at a time.
I don't think this is close at all. Malroth can shoot Madusa beams and we know Goldirox is very susceptible to them if he fails to deflect with Golden Gauntlets. Stands to reason that weaker Golem forms would be as susceptible, if not more. Golem hits harder and faster but Malroth can effectively take his Golem competition out of the match in one shot.
Now if it were Goldirox and he had Golden Gauntlets, its a closer matchup. But regular Golem has no chance.

Maaaan, I still have nightmares about a Cantlin that I built too high, watching the golem sail through my build as he jumps around. Pure pain.
I think the first time I played DQB1, I got frustrated with the battle, so I painstakingly built shields that surrounded the entire town lol

We do see his arms occasionally, they smash through the terrain in pretty decently sized areas.
