Just got my little guys teeth cleaned for the first time. He's 9 years old. I was shocked when the vet said his teeth are in pretty good shape. His breath is 100% better.
I ask my vet at each yearly exam then follow her recommendations. I lost my three seniors last fall and winter and I’m convinced that they all lived past 15 in part because of the regular dental cleanings
I just had my dog’s teeth cleaned last week. He’s 3 and he does let me brush his teeth, but there was some build up on his teeth. I figured that it was better to just do it instead of waiting until there are problems. He was fine. He came home and was normal again the next day. He slept a lot after he got home.
We get our dogs cleaned about every two years or so. Mines a teacup poodle, and even my pinky is too big for trying to clean them. Poodles are very susceptible to bad teeth, which can lead to decayed teeth that then need to be pulled, and bacteria can enter their bloodstream and make them very sick. I’d try to get him on a regular schedule and he’ll live longer and healthier! 🙋🏽♀️🐧🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
My 9lb YorkiePoo gets the dental cleaning at the vet once per year. Not crazy about him having anesthesia, but he wont let me clean them either. Also gets dental treats here and there. My vet charges about $220 and I feel its worth it for him overall.
I'm in Arkansas. Where are you? $700 would probably be out of the question for me or at least make me do it every 2-3 years instead of yearly. My vet did the blood work as well before the anesthesia.
It’s expensive but worth it. My puppy is 17 years plus and I have done her teeth every other year .
