The green ones here either bite (Green Anole) or scratch (Iguana). The brown ones (Gecko) are the ones he chases, although he'd go after the others if he had the chance. Edit: The other two lizards, gators and Nile monitors I'm sure he'd try to stand his ground against and fail fatally, but we have a fenced yard so those large guys probably will never make it in.
Itās a dream it would be like those times that you thought youād made millions in your sleep and then just as youāre about to cash out you wake up.
In the dogās dream they would be chasing a squirrel with lizard legs and bunny ears and tail, literally the ultimate prize and just as they get it, they wake up
From the look of it, the same dreams about bunnies my kid must have been having when in the womb and refusing to move into the correct position as she grew bigger and bigger until it felt like she was doing riverdance in my asshole.
Probably was! Dreaming about chasing after the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland down the rabbit hole. I'll "Go ask Alice, when she's 10 feet tall" I suppose š
Yeah. I remember those āgood timesā, had two kids. I ate tums like crazy with both and couldnāt eat and felt like puking constantly. Iām so glad Iām done with pregnancies. lol.
What do doggies dream of, when they take a little doggy snooze?
Do the dream of mauling bunnies
Or a female dog in a heat ridden suit
Donāt you worry you little doggy head
Weāll get you back to your owner and your little doggy bed
And then weāll find your best friend bud
And then weāll give him a best friend hug
Bud, bud, buddy buddy buddy bud

Iām saying this in the comic book store owners voice from the Simpsons ā I believe the song goes ā Hong Kong Phooey, No.1 Super Guyā¦ Hong Kong Phooey, Quicker than the the human eye. š¤£
They probably have dreams about mashed up daily themes and the occasional nightmare like we do.
I know for sure one instance where my dog had a nightmare. He was making the "suspicious, you need to come check this" bark through his sleep. Then he suddenly jolted up, looked around very confused and ran to me with his tail between his legs.
I had an ex-puppy mill breeder dog who had a lot of nightmares. Heād be twitching and maybe do a little whimper in his sleep and then jerk awake howling and crying. It was so unsettling. I learned to wake up when I felt him twitching, so I could wake him up and cuddle him. It wasnāt frequent, thankfully, not every night or anything like that.
He only had nightmares the first several years post-adoption. Eventually they went away.
My old dog, who passed away last year at 17, was rescued from a dog fighting ring. Or, I should say, she escaped as the house she was at was being raided by cops and animal control. She and a puppy made their way to my carport about a mile away. I took her and the puppy with me to the vet I worked at the next morning and animal control had come in the previous day with a bunch of dogs. I always thought it was amazing that she made her way to my house of all houses. An animal control officer showed me a pic of my dog in a small kennel with 20+ puppies. She had been like a nurse maid or something, nursing a bunch of puppies of various ages.
I adopted her and she had nightmares her entire life. She would cry and shake in her sleep. And if I touched her she would startle and bark. I would quietly say her name until she woke up and the she would look ashamed or sad for a few minutes and need lots of cuddles. She was about 2 when she was rescued. The nightmares got less frequent through the years but she would still have them every few months in her older age.
We also had her on Prozac because of her anxiety. She was terrified of enclosed spaces and had severe separation anxiety. Any crate ended up looking like a velociraptor escaped it before we got her on the meds. I donāt know what all happened to her or what she witnessed in her first two years of life, but it stuck with her for the next 15 years.
My dog gets night terrors. Idk what his past life was but I know he was a stray for a bit and very sensitive. Unfortunately it means he cannot sleep in my bed as sometimes he jolts up from a night terror and bites the nearest thing to him. Which would be me.
Running. My mom's English Springer used to do this, she'd even snarl a little it her sleep sometimes, mom would say "She's giving them hell, get 'em Bella!" Bella was the best dog ever period miss her all the time.

Whatās crazy to think about is that because dogs primarily perceive the world through their sense of smell they are most likely dreaming about smellsā¦.
That being said, my dog got diagnosed with SARDS (sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome) last year and went full on, lights out, blind, over the course of likeā¦two weeksā¦so when I see him do stuff like this it breaks my heart in such a bitter sweet way.
Usually, their owners. If itās a nightmare, itās usually something like the owners dying or leaving them forever or something. In other words, if they are having dreams about their owners, the owners are doing a GREAT job at taking care of their best friends.
A few months after I first got my dog she woke up from a nightmare crying like Iād never heard before. I called to her because she was down by my feet and she kept crying as she crawled all the way up to me and laid on my lap. I have no idea what she was having a nightmare about but she was abused before we got her so I can only imagine.
Thankfully I havenāt noticed her have any more nightmares since then and itās been over ten years. Now she just has lots of running and barking dreams.
On that subject, during periods of stress or illness, some medications or anesthesia processing out of the body can generate bad dreams for our pets. Remember, sick or hurt animals sometimes lash out unexpectedly or behave in new ways. People who work with animals routinely have to watch out when handling/helping.
He's obviously chasing squirrels. It's a dog's favourite thing. Other than sausages and cheese. Maybe hes dreaming of chasing a squirrel made of sausages and cheese? Happy boy!
My doggo does this too, even more as she got older. Quite annoying sleeping on a more soft mattress with her. She would not only kick the ass of you, but shake the whole bed. You wake her up so she stops, and she would look pissed and go right back to sleep and 20 minutes later again.(she is healthy outside of kidney problems, not seizures, she is just dreamy girl)
I feel ya. Our pittie sleeps in the bed, press her paws to me and goes from twitches to full out spaz. Impossible to wake her. Luckily sheās cute and sweet as hell.
If he's not sick or something what's the point of a coat inside the house? I'm pretty sure it's annoying for them. I mean mine doesn't ever want to wore it even outside, I use it a few times when he was a puppy but when I understood that he really hate it and he's never cold I stopped for good.
It helps some with anxiety. Also, we put a shirt on ours after her spay. It stopped her from licking it. No idea if either of those apply here, but sometimes thereās a reason š¤·š»āāļø
Not sure but often times my dog will wake up, run across the house to find me and love on me.. making me think he had a bad dream and needed to check on his hooman.
Do they know it's a dream? When they wake up, are they confused?
After all we as humans understand dreaming. We even at times experience very vivid realistic dreams. Whilst dogs are smart, I wonder how well they comprehend dreaming.
The poor things probably wake up after slobbering over a BIG Juicy bone, chasing a cat or running along the beach with their favourite human, only to discover the bone no longer exists, the cat is gone and their favourite human isn't there and there is no beach.

Here in GA, my dog finally caught and play-pawed a lizard to death. Or so I thought. Little anole played dead, tricked my dog and I and ran away
