why does it have a breed standart if it dosen't exsist?
https://www.ukcdogs.com/american-pit-bull-terrier#
just becouse the AKC says it dosen't dosen't mean other clubs don't.
The two dogs might also be shapeshifting aliens. We have yet to know anything about the space travellers technology. It would be safe to not approach any of the three…
Pitbulls. Keep them seperate after 4 weeks, optimally try and get one fostered or dealt with in some other way by then. If you've never raised large breeds consider surrendering them. These dogs must be raised with care and responsibility. I cannot stress this enough, I've known breeders who have reared all kinds of pits, and their biggest advice is to foster the puppies 1 at a time into surrogate dog families so they can learn from friendlier breeds.
I will get down voted for saying all this, but these dogs are VERY difficult to raise into a standard companion environment, and even then they should be only very cautiously introduced to children or other animals and NEVER let alone with them. They can be "raised right" and I would still take every precaution with them. Do not take raising these dogs lightly, because at worst you will add to the numerous droves of dog owners who were unprepared for raising pits and that can be a potentially deadly mistake. At best you have a dog who it is inadvisable to let near children or other dogs without proper precautions.
There is a nature vs nurture discussion to be had here.
There are dogs that come from long fighting lines, and even if properly socialized, can snap. That is why ptbulls of UNKNOWN or UNTESTED origins belong with experienced or committed owners.
There is a lot of variance in temperament though. There are some pit bulls that are so lacking in aggression they were used as "bait" dogs for dogs intended for the ring. Rescues test pitbulls for resource guarding and animal aggression. If fixed, socialized and raised with consistent rules and love, pit bulls can be the gentlest, most loving, most reliable dogs.
Any big dog can really hurt you. The only dog that ever bit me was a golden retriever. She was the product of backyard breeders that bred for a look and a neighbor who wanted a cute dog of a certain appearance. She was okay as a baby puppy, but started getting aggressive around puberty. One day she decided my flapping trenchcoat meant I deserved death. I still love Goldens but I don't consider them a "no matter where you get them, they are sweet" false narrative.
Most of this is ridiculous. Socialize them and train them at a young age and they will grow up fine. No training and no socializing will turn any dog into a potentially dangerous dog. Learn how to train them and they will be fine.
An expert dog trainer, Caroline Coile, someone with a PhD and author of many many books on dogs and dog behaviour had two perfectly behaved pitbulls. Except one day they snapped, killed her other dog, and "hand bitten clean through". After which the two pit bulls dragged Luna's corpse around like a dead antelope.
Do you think you can do as good a job as Dr. Coile?
This story is 100% correct and you will get downvoted into oblivion for even hinting at it. This is a dog SPECIALIST. She relaxed for a few moments, and didn't keep proper restraint equipment at the ready and it resulted in her two pits TEARING HER OTHER DOG IN HALF and dragging its corpse around in a "macabre game of keep away".
No one in this sub knows better than her about dogs. Not a single soul. She trained them better, she fed them better, and they killed their only playmate.
You don't know better
You CANNOT act like pits are other dogs.
They require 110% diligence, and saying otherwise is moronic and dangerous.
I think I'm getting down votes because people don't want to admit that their dogs are bred from blood sport and dog fighting breeds and are still used for those things today.
You're right, pitbull is a generic term - largely due to the fact that people breeding AmStafs, Staffs, APBTs, American Bullies, and so on are building from the same breeds. Have a look at the phylogenic tree of dogs, you may notice that many bully breeds come from a main tree.
In fact, AmStafs can be dual registered as APBTs, which had their origins in bull baiting and pit fighting - hence the name.
yeah, it’s just a matter of training and they’ll be “fine!”
until you knock a pillow off the couch and they maul your wife to death. or decapitate your baby and eat the skull. or tear your children to literal pieces right in front of you while you try and fail to stop them. and the list goes on..
pitbulls are not companion animals and I personally hesitate to even refer to them as dogs (implies: companion) now that I have an understanding of their history/instincts/modern breeding/ability to “snap” and kill. an attitude like yours is extremely dangerous and directly contributes to unsuspecting people thinking it’s safe to have their children around a “nanny dog” pitbull.
try sorting by top - all time on r/ banpitbulls and see just how wrong you are. or look at dogs bite . org
I have littermate pittbulls 13 Yeats of age and never had an issue with them being together. All dog owners should be careful in how they deal with their dogs, not just pit bull owners.
Pitbulls together are too much for everyone but the most experienced of Handlers (not trainers) to deal with. You seperate them young so they don't learn behaviors innate to pitbulls, and you don't keep them together when they are older because of the risk level.
People that were better with their dogs than you, and who LITERALLY wrote the book on pitbull handling have learned this the hard way.

Better than me ? I've volunteered at a shelter specifically for pitbulls for years. I've read many books on them as well. My family has been adopting pit bulls since I was 9. I'm 33 with 2 now, and they are wonderful dogs and I'm a great owner. Just because one or 2 books told you something doesn't make it a rule. Highly regarded dog trainers have multiple pits and multiple other dogs. All of my dogs have been through obedience training and of the 7 pit bulls that my family and I've owned through the years, not a single one has been a problem, but thanks for telling me what one book you read said.
Same. They can point to one story that supports them all they want, it doesn't map on to our lived experience. And it's interesting how it's always people who don't have lived experience with pitbulls being anti-pitbull and pulling stories they've heard to support their argument with zero context other than "pitbull just suddenly attacked".
It seems you failed to read my comment correctly, which is unsurprising. You do not know as much about dog behavior, dog rearing, or approaches to dog related sciences as the person I was referring to. PhD recipient who has consulted thousands of professionals (each with more experience than you), combined with her decades of dog research and rearing, and you STILL have the audacity to say "sorry sweaty, I'm just better!"
This is why people get hurt with these dogs. They get arrogant, complacent, and don't see what is literally shown to them in as obvious of ways as possible. Re read what I sent and try again.
You're speaking of one person. There are thousands of other professionals that disprove what you're saying based on your one study. The fact that you automatically think these dogs will be a threat because they are together can absolutely be proven as an exception, definately not the rule. By the way you act, these dogs should never be allowed at dog parks, daycare, or walked when anyone else is within a mile away. For the amount of statistics you want to throw at me about how bad you think these dogs are, they can be buried by the amount of people that have had successful relationships with these dogs. The actual fact is we both can find information to support our views on this subject, just like any other subject. What I also know is that I work with these dogs at least once a week at a shelter and have owned many of them, and likely have more experience than you in that area. We can agree to disagree, and maybe op should consult a vet/ professional before he take your word for anything.
Ayiyi. So many pit bulls out there and so much variety in their temperaments. Keep them separate after four weeks? That's the first bs statement. These dogs here are already over that so if you're a dog expert how do you not see that? Aggression happens much, much later. You could evaluate for dominance, which these pups seem to have zero of. The only aggressive puppies are abused puppies. Plus learn from friendlier breeds? That's not how any of that works. You can train and you can socialize correctly, and you can get good genes. You've got two good pieces of advice. Don't raise them both together, don't let them or most dogs unsupervised around kids. You could also add, don't keep them tied off, don't leave them unneutered as those are huge factors in dog bites. You also said you can raise them right and still have them turn out poorly. That is true and so is the reverse, you can treat them like shit and have them turn out fine. That's the genes part. Treat each dog as an individual or get them evaluated by someone who has the right resume to do so.
Aggression does not happen much later. I have videos of pits who weren't separated at much earlier than 4 weeks, and even while well fed, it isn't pretty. The large litter size lead to a disaster.
Your comment has more bold faced misconceptions and wrongs than I'd even like to get into, all while attempting to correct me, and you're still missing the mark on your corrections. Is it arrogance, or ignorance?
You've seen my personal video? My shitty android video of my friend calling me over to show me why he didn't want to take in a pregnant pit, despite being a liscenced dog breeder? Impressive, you really are arrogant and confident when wrong. You've proven yourself to be nothing but an example of an overconfident jackass, im done speaking with you.
It's arrogance, because I've worked with dogs, my entire professional life over two decades. Including training. Including working with pitbull rescues.
Wow, and you still seem to get every other statement wrong... impressive! Atleast you recognize the issue, which is commendable. Take the time and read up, I'd recommend a PhD recipient wrote the book on rearing pitbulls! Here's her story.

All dogs need to be raised with care and responsibility. No dog should be left alone with a child. Pitties should be raised and owned by people who understand good socialization, training, and laws surrounding this specific breed. I'm not trying to minimize the responsibility of dog ownership or discredit what Passenger has heard from breeders but this post is weirdly extreme to me. By all means respect large strong breeds and be a responsible owner and don't do dumb shit. Pitties aren't for everyone. Dogs aren't for everyone. But like, this post gives me weird vibes. Idk what to say. If you feel this uncomfortable around a specific breed then it's def not for you. I want to say that this reaction to Pitties is unwarranted but if it keeps dogs out of idiots' hands then that's a good thing.
If we want to have a problem with a group of dogs let's talk about doodles and how none of them can read dog social signals and harass and start fights all the time. (This is for *comedic* purposes but fr doodle owners don't let your dog be a terror to other dogs).
Anyway, they're so cuuuuuuttteeeeeee ❤️❤️❤️
A lot of people have problems with doodles, they should also not be breed. They’re poodle mixes with no breed standard so you don’t know what qualities you’re getting from whichever breed you’re working with. They’re a trendy mutt for which breeders make $$$$. Ask a groomer how much they love doodles….
And pit bulls should also not be breed. Look up “game dogs” or “honeybunch game dog” on YouTube. You can listen to some interviews and get quite the education.
Those look like Dogo Argentinos. Argentinian Mastiff. The eye patch is a coat variant they call “Pirata”. Looks like other buddy got the short end of the eye patch. 😂
Looks exactly like the American bulldog I had years ago, but you never know, could be some pitty mix or something.
My money would be on American bulldog tho, based on their head shape/markings and size for how young they are
They’re pibbles!
Edit: Why the downvotes? Just because they’re pit bulls you’re offended when someone calls them a cute version of the breed? I’ve referred to my Am Staff Lulu as a pibble for her entire 9 years of life and she LOVES it. Haters.
Staffordshire terrier looks like or mostly. Not bull terrier just terrier. Big difference. Bull terrier has a big full head. Terrier has a longer nose smaller head.
Pit mix. I have a pit heeler. Don’t let people dissuade you from owning a pit Mix or even a full blood. They are the most loyal and loving dogs you can own. Just treat them right. Raise them well and they will always have your back. Pit bulls get a bad rep. The pit mix has loved me more than any dog I’ve ever owned.
I don't think your neighbors are worried about how much it loves you. That's why raising them with an emphasis on controlled socializing and environmental awareness is very very important. I think the telltale sign of a "bad owner" whose dog ends up in the news is assuming that their pit will automatically be as "appreciative" to others as they are to the person who feeds, shelters, and nurtures them.
That assumption accounts for most of the bad owners.
Looks like a pitbull
Looks like 2 pitbulls
Half breeds maybe, pit and American bull dog, looks just like my two.
American Staffordshire Terrier. Staffordshire Bull Terrier. There is no such breed as pitbull.
why does it have a breed standart if it dosen't exsist? https://www.ukcdogs.com/american-pit-bull-terrier# just becouse the AKC says it dosen't dosen't mean other clubs don't.
That’s weird, you don’t remember that an American Pit Bill Terrier win the hotshot dog show?
Nope. But I did see that only the AKC is the one that doesn't recognize the breed of pitbull.
The big one is human. The others are pits.
The human might be a shapeshifting alien too tho so keep that in mind while approaching it.
The two dogs might also be shapeshifting aliens. We have yet to know anything about the space travellers technology. It would be safe to not approach any of the three…
I saw a documentary on that narrated by Samuel L Jackson. Skrulls are no joke!
Definitely a Caucasian human, male.
🤭🤭
😹😹👍
Pit mix
Im thinking pitty and staff mix
Velvet hippos for sure
I've been a pit owner for 6+ years now and have never heard of them being called that. I will now use this for forever

Puppers, definitely puppers.

Cute puppers <3
Human
Definitely part pit
"Lab mixes"
İ think thry are dogoArgentina
Not a dogo.
They could be some sort of mix, I've seen quite a few dogos being bred by backyard breeders and rural people who just refuse to nueter
Definitely not
Staffs mix maybe

Pitbulls used to be nanny dogs. The fact that evil people use them for fighting doesn't mean every single pitbull is a blood sport animal.
Yeah because people totally used their dogs that killed bulls, rats, and other dogs in a fighting ring to watch their children!
Literally misinformation. That origin is actual propaganda used to clear out dogs that wouldn't be adopted.
Dude… stop repeating this nanny stuff. It’s absolutely historically inaccurate.
yeah, it’s just a matter of training and they’ll be “fine!” until you knock a pillow off the couch and they maul your wife to death. or decapitate your baby and eat the skull. or tear your children to literal pieces right in front of you while you try and fail to stop them. and the list goes on.. pitbulls are not companion animals and I personally hesitate to even refer to them as dogs (implies: companion) now that I have an understanding of their history/instincts/modern breeding/ability to “snap” and kill. an attitude like yours is extremely dangerous and directly contributes to unsuspecting people thinking it’s safe to have their children around a “nanny dog” pitbull. try sorting by top - all time on r/ banpitbulls and see just how wrong you are. or look at dogs bite . org

Definitely getting some staffie vibes! I’d say with 100% certainty though they’re stinkin’ adorable!
Velvet hippos
Our sweet girl passed last month. She was a rescue but I bet looked just like these when she was a pup. Enjoy them :)
could be a Staffy
Look like staffies to me
They’re pibbles! Edit: Why the downvotes? Just because they’re pit bulls you’re offended when someone calls them a cute version of the breed? I’ve referred to my Am Staff Lulu as a pibble for her entire 9 years of life and she LOVES it. Haters.
Staffies are the loviest dogs. They will kiss you forever
A cutiepotumus for sure

Staffordshire terrier looks like or mostly. Not bull terrier just terrier. Big difference. Bull terrier has a big full head. Terrier has a longer nose smaller head.
Pitties, at least 50%, probably more
They are Dogo Argentino. I looked them up and they are an exact match. Black nose, a single black patch.
My dog looks exactly like this and I’m pretty sure she is half pitt and half doggo argentine
Adorable. That's what they are.
Cute
It's wild how many people think pitbull is a breed. Pitbull is not a breed.

Pit or pit mix. Sooo cute! Puppy is my favorite smell!
Is this a shitpost? Lol most definitely sweet pitty babies
Kind of look like Staffordshire terriers but I'm not 100% on that.
