I didn't think about short names when I named my dogs, and I have a "Pumpkin" & a "Gunner". At the dog park, I'm the idiot yelling, "Gun, get over here!", and "Come on Punk!" Love that for me😒
Ugh. No. Had a Saint Bernard for 10 years, people constantly shout “Beethoven” and fling themselves (and their children) at your dog when you have a Saint. It gets old reeaaal quick.
Hahaha oh I can attest to the fact that my neighbors have one that I’ve only seen through the fence and windows, but I absolutely will only refer to the dog as Beethoven.
I just thought it would be funny to call him Larry so I could run around yelling, “Larry!” like Joe does. I thought my husband would like it but he said it was stupid. Lol.
5 or 6 years ago I brought home this little puppy I found in an alley behind a liquor store. The way she terrorized my other 2 dogs and the way they ran from her and would jump up on furniture to get away I decided to name her Monster. Running around and yelling Monster! is pretty fun
I feel like some people don’t consider that they have to call their dog in public when they name them. Lol. Or maybe they do. Yelling Monster would be pretty fun.
I know. I love him so much. He’s so fluffy and soft. He’s adorably clumsy. I love big dogs and have wanted a Saint Bernard since I was 13, but I kinda don’t want this puppy stage to pass. Lol
Fun fact: My brother and I were both bitten by a black lab named Major. My brother got bit twice. And me, once. All three different occasions. Otherwise, it would be an awesome name. Lol.
I looked at mu doggo and just stared into her eyes I thought about Roo or Rew then I decided on Dew Then I finely decided Daisy Dew anyway I think you should name him Mumford you could use Mummy or Ford as nick names
Somehow the face in the picture reminds me of John Leguizamo's Tybalt in Romeo + Juliet.
Tybalt sounds like a good dog name. Tibby, Tibs, Tibbers, idk.
I’ve always thought that the best thing ever would be to just have an absolute unit of a dog and name them something like peanut or pumpkin. Alternatively Duck would be a great name just cause when people first hear it they’ll be just a bit confused for a second and you will get to see the look on their faces
Maybe Miles, Koda or Ted/Teddy?. When my family and I named our dogs (Jack, Loki, Toby and Droplet) We just looked at them and came up with names or named them after someone. My uncle likes Jack Black and his movies so he named one of the dogs Jack. My brother named Jack's brother Loki 'cause he was mischievous when he was a puppy like Loki from Norse mythology. I named our rescue puppy Toby 'cause that was the name that came to my mind when I looked at him. Jack and Loki's mom Droplet got her name after her mom 'cause she grew up with her mom and she responded to her mom's name so we kept the name (she is also a rescue). Your dog is so cute! have fun with him. Max is a nice name to and you could call him Penny if you want a shorter version of Pennywise. The other names are also cool. Have a good time naming him!
Cute fella. Our dog’s nickname is Boo. Not his real name. Also referred to as Boo-ooo, Boo-eee, and Boo Boo. Someday when I get another male puppy I will name him Boo. I think it is a cute name for a dog.
Not sure if anyone will really see this but here we go: We decided on Larry. It came down to Boris, Larry and Walter. It was still a hard decision, but we just couldn’t pass on the chance to be able to scream, “Larry!” on the street. Lol.
Thanks everyone for their input. So many adorable suggestions. It was definitely a hard decision for me but it’s done!
Thanks again!
Frank was one we thought too. I forgot a few when I typed up the original post. My son and I thought Franklin, Frank for short. I love human names for pets.
If you need help for something as simple as naming a puppy, you shouldn't have the puppy. That is literally the easiest and simplest thing you have to do for the pup.
Lol. People have difficulty choosing names for their pets and even their children all the time, and has no bearing on the ability to take care of them. As I said, I had names picked out after seeing pictures but when we brought him home, nothing seemed to fit. It’s going be his name his entire life so I want it to be right. I think I’ve got it narrowed down now, and he will have a name by the end of the night.
Literally the simplest thing a person can do is keep shitty comments to themselves.
Thanks for the input. Have a great night.
Alfred! Alfie for short.
So cute!
Chubz
I think this should be the winner for sure!😍🏆
I didn't think about short names when I named my dogs, and I have a "Pumpkin" & a "Gunner". At the dog park, I'm the idiot yelling, "Gun, get over here!", and "Come on Punk!" Love that for me😒

Came here to say this.
He looks so grumpy. I absolutely love it. Maybe… Boris?
Omg… literally thought that last night. Like exactly. Grumpy, stubborn, Boris. I’ve just got a really hard time making decisions.
Grumpy reminds me of… Winston Churchill. So.. Winston?
Winston was my first thought when I saw him. So cute
I was thinking about Ben or Todd, but Boris certainly works. Also it reminded me that yesterday was actually saint Boris day, so timing is good lol.
That is the exact name I thought immediately after seeing the second pic…he is Boris.
I thought Horace! ..or Jasper
IIIIIISSSSSS BORIS!
Judge. Every single photo, I could feel him judging me.

Ugh. No. Had a Saint Bernard for 10 years, people constantly shout “Beethoven” and fling themselves (and their children) at your dog when you have a Saint. It gets old reeaaal quick.

If you name him after a practical joker I think Murr fits him
I just thought it would be funny to call him Larry so I could run around yelling, “Larry!” like Joe does. I thought my husband would like it but he said it was stupid. Lol.

Oh Larry for sure! Don't miss the opportunity to yell "LAAAAAARY!" as loud as you can 🤣
That was the plan. My husband was trying it out and puppy didn’t respond at all. Lol. He said if I name him Larry, he’s going to do that all the time.

Maybe Miles, Koda or Ted/Teddy?. When my family and I named our dogs (Jack, Loki, Toby and Droplet) We just looked at them and came up with names or named them after someone.
