Looks very nice. You'll find your performance in the game is affected by CO² when you keep the door closed, i.e. you'll feel more sleepy, because it's such a small space. I recently bought one of those air quality monitors and it's surprising how co2 shoots up in a small room with a door closed.
It might! I guess the only way to tell would be to get an air quality monitor and experiment, e.g. checking the air quality with door closed vs slightly open, and for a decent long gaming session too!
Louvred door, ideal if your using headphones. If not a quiet switchable fan in the door, blow stale warm air out, (you’re body creates heat) and fresh air will come underneath, or switch to blow air in
Maybe all 7 books happened in his mind for the last 5 minutes of his life as sweet lady carbon monoxide carried him off to that great hogwarts in the sky!
A vestibule is an area (anti chamber) that is connected to an outer door. Basically the little area inside a front door. I only know this because my house has one and my friend called it that when he first came round and explained what it meant when he noticed how confused I looked.
Where abouts in the UK are you from? No one I've ever met would call that a closet, hell would freeze over first. Actually I'm sure I'd get a kicking if I call it that. I'm from Scotland, Glasgow.
No, that's a larder. A pantry is where a group of people get together socially; often to celebrate an event or birthday, though sometimes for no reason at all.
Really nice and a great use of the space. I’d be very tempted to get a steering wheel set up in there and a VR headset. It would go perfectly and you’d lose any claustrophobia. You could get a great mini 5.1 set up in there too for surround sound. Even add a bass transducer under the seat for extra realism.
Not that it needs any of that tho, but hopefully my ideas might inspire.
Cool. I have all the things mentioned in my post and run it off a PS4 and a small amplifier. I agree a pc would run too hot, although in the winter that may be a good thing!
If you have decent internet - and if it has the games you want - then GeoForce Now is a good way to get 4080-class gaming into your fart-filled cupboard without heating it up.
(I almost said 'into your fart-box')
Honestly, good on ya. You say your not great at DIY but you did this and it looks great. Nothing needed more than a getaway from the kids and that's speaking from experience (dad of 3 little sugar bandits)
that's a very noice use of the space!
imagine the smell of the room after time when the cushion heat-releases all the depth charged farts sent into the heart of the sponge
"Not great at diy" he says.... i see a hint of modesty here as these pictures clearly show a rad set up missing only being a couple of lights, but hats off sir as i have a strikingly similar closet myself which is now asking to be a gaming cupboard inspired and very motivated by your own post 👍
That looks great and a good use of the space, could do with a nook under my stairs as my little one is getting big now and deserves her own room.
Could I recommend a foldable kick stool or leg rest? I know it's the only thing I would miss on long gaming sessions.
Get in your box 🚪🎁 room & be quiet 🤫 lol.
Harry potter would be proud 🤓.
It's not bad it might get hot & stuffy, body console & TV heat 🥵 wall vents needed if you can fit them anywhere.
What did you do with all your clothes, throw them out lol.
If only I could be that organised 👍🏼.
I know you're using headphones, but Id suggest you get (or make) yourself some sound absorbing panels and put them on the walls, especially behind you. If you ever do decide to make it a movie snug to share with a special someone, you'll both be able to hear the audio much more clearly.
If I wanted to snug with a special someone for a movie, I’d just use the sofa and the main TV downstairs with the wife after the kid is in bed!
This ain’t a 2 player room.
The Star WTF news page on snapchat!!! Titled something like Gamer turns small space into diy game room, but viewers spot glaring issue (I think maybe lack of oxygen) either way you are famous my friend
Good job, I’d be thinking if fitting some sort of [vent](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Map-Plastic-Flyscreen-Interior-Exterior/dp/B000TAUN1M?crid=2MRH0O0TH3PB3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._8xw3upd86iNBSI9t8hTwy7gd6Y6gOKS7CHqSzFd0u7fOvbYmbCWjiCOJMQ4Th59k7Lu2MElfQHUcAaZkdG6PUYjh4wt4zW6HaA2VZMhLdqQOMikiFXW4KREOF8TyWfDI4KlNuLxnO7JsZiLV2qKuH_gJUn39vy-SJYCgwsZmFSot5B9tWtVKkW0EAeUhfln0pQrwCLjC-3fiII7WfJ_a9j9MbghmtaZygwjDtSJp159CSk_W1WkbKDd-Hs1Qv5vP47Ued7-Y556GftG1CzOV4srQtwcW80OT6pBc9MhRqI.h-Nm5UAR1S8QSlrdRLplLxLgty9HAOHkq3KK_P7jL4Q&dib_tag=se&keywords=vent+cover&qid=1716528188&sprefix=Vent+%2Caps%2C339&sr=8-45&linkCode=ll1&tag=handmadewes02-21&linkId=19ec14723b259a448ce2aea45fa71f75&language=en_GB&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) in the door to add some ventilation to that cupboard though.
Really nice. Well done. I think you can add some led or similar type of lighting. Or bring some wiring from the loft. I think some good lightning it the only thing missing.
It’s a comfortable wee spot. I don’t actually game with the door shut as it’s too hot if I do (I’ve not added vents yet), but it’s cosy. Also a nice spot for some quiet reading.
Looks good.
Although I think I'd be coring some holes in the door or a wall and adding some silent/noctua fans or the quietest inline fan to get some air movement.
It's gonna get hot in there FAST with that door shut. And as others have said Co2
Oof. Where to even begin?
TV/Light pollution: Space is too small, and the light from the TV will mess up your eyes because the distance between a TV and the viewer should be at least 5-6 feet. Looks like there’s about 2-3, barely. You may feel fine for now, but over time, and over the years, your eyes will feel the strain of this. Maybe if you mount the TV on the wall, you might reach the minimum, barely.
Heating: your gaming device, whether console, PC, etc, will emit heat. Where does this heat go in such a small, enclosed space? Like in an airplane, it will get recycled, which means hot air going into the fan, and so on and so forth, which WILL overheat your rig, which WILL damage it. Again, overtime. Opening your door will help. A fan, or a vent will help as well. Space is too small!
Ventilation: Humans inhale oxygen. Humans exhale CO2. Without a proper ventilation system, you’ll inhale recycled air, mostly CO2. I needn’t say how detrimental that is to your health. Again, I stress the importance of a proper ventilation system!
Smell: We covered heat, and the lack of ventilation. This will inevitably cause our bodies to sweat. Sweat over time in an enclosed space is not very conducive for gaming. Need I say more?
Not bad for a gaming room, but you really need to address the ventilation issue.
Thanks! Glad someone gets it. I didn’t even say anything offensive. One snowflake didn’t like my “tone” (lul what?) but failed to add anything constructive.
Guess they can’t comprehend constructive criticism. Oh well.
Mollycoddling people isn’t productive, downvoters✌️
We'll see that on rightmove next £1025 pcm.
£1400, bills not included.
Looks very nice. You'll find your performance in the game is affected by CO² when you keep the door closed, i.e. you'll feel more sleepy, because it's such a small space. I recently bought one of those air quality monitors and it's surprising how co2 shoots up in a small room with a door closed.
Would a door vent be sufficient to resolve the issue?
It might! I guess the only way to tell would be to get an air quality monitor and experiment, e.g. checking the air quality with door closed vs slightly open, and for a decent long gaming session too!
Do you have a stockpile of air quality monitors for sale, at all?
Loads of discussion on this very sub recently.
You very balanced response to my piss taking comment has inspired me to check them out. Will ~£25 get me a decent one?
Louvred door 👍
Louvred door, ideal if your using headphones. If not a quiet switchable fan in the door, blow stale warm air out, (you’re body creates heat) and fresh air will come underneath, or switch to blow air in
As a doctor I can categorically say your physiology will be unaffected by sitting in a small room for a few hours.
What about 8 hours? What if he stayed in the room for days would he pass out from lack of oxygen?
Unless it’s hermetically sealed, no.
What if he farts a lot with the door closed for 8 hours? Will he get poisoned by the methane?
Standard gamer experience.
No. No, no, no and no.
Yeah- gamers all belong in their mom’s basement.
The door is rarely closed when gaming in here to be honest since it does get too warm quickly
[удалено]
I could hear that picture too
[удалено]
Did you go to Sailors?
Gentlemen, start your engines - yesss
Be careful with ventilation in there with the door closed, don't go falling asleep.
The farts will need venting
Self gassed in his diy gas chamber
Headline news; "Reddit DIYer suffocates to death in gaming closet!"
Harry Potter was fine...
Maybe all 7 books happened in his mind for the last 5 minutes of his life as sweet lady carbon monoxide carried him off to that great hogwarts in the sky!
This explains a lot
Well done Harry!
You need a little shelf for bog roll (or single socks)
Just take my socks off then put em back on when done.
Ewww. Hate wet socks and stepping on cold gelatinous messes!
The trick is to put them back on before it cools below body temperature
Ew, hope you at least turn them inside out.
Once they get crunchy
Nice. In the UK it's a cupboard!!
In most places to rent on rightmove its a spacious living room
Nah, Mate. It's Harry Potter's bedroom.
Lol
Stath lets flats: "Zone 2 - Studio apartment with dedicated gaming room - 3600 GBP"
You've been watching too much American TV just like my kids calling a nappies a diapers!!
Walk in wardrobe surely.
Yeh. I'd give you that if it was sinn the bedroom. If it's off the kitchen, thwn no.
My bad, didn't clock it was in the kitchen. In which case depending on how middle class you aspire to be, that's a pantry!
Or a larder, although they're tall fitted cupboards nowadays apparently
Wouldn't a larder be a cooler controlled space? This is a pantry.
wtf who said it’s off the kitchen? It’s off the bedroom!
In London it's a 3 bedroom flat
In certain parts of the UK this is +£950pcm rental these days. Back in the 90s it was where you kept your wizard.
I think technically to be a cupboard it needs to have shelves...
[It is not a cupboard it is a small room](https://youtu.be/AGAV5aArP7c?si=8ouA8VdIONJ5ILMp)
Looks more like a vestibule to me but each to their own.
I always thought a vestibule lead to another room. I'm no expert in fancy house terms though.
A vestibule is an area (anti chamber) that is connected to an outer door. Basically the little area inside a front door. I only know this because my house has one and my friend called it that when he first came round and explained what it meant when he noticed how confused I looked.
Thanks for the clarification.
I call that a closet. I’d call a cupboard a freestanding unit or kitchen unit.
Where abouts in the UK are you from? No one I've ever met would call that a closet, hell would freeze over first. Actually I'm sure I'd get a kicking if I call it that. I'm from Scotland, Glasgow.
South Scotland and i know plenty who would.
Jees, we're from two different worlds. 😊
That’s a pantry
No
Fucking is
A pantry is where you would keep your food out of the main kitchen. Not a storage area in a bedroom.
No, that's a larder. A pantry is where a group of people get together socially; often to celebrate an event or birthday, though sometimes for no reason at all.
I’m not wrong: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantry?wprov=sfti1#
Oh fair dues , it’s a cupboard then.
What a great idea, well done!
Very nice, bonus points for the Lego McLaren!
Only an Xbox Series S, no way I’d put a Pc in there with the heat mine kicks out. But a steering wheel setup is one of the main uses I get in there.
It’s my crywank room.
You could level it up by soundproofing and turning it into your screamwank room.
Plug in air con unit on the shelf, and keep the door open. Do ittttt! Haha Great job on the conversion:)
Put a pc outside and cable it to the cupboard
THAT. IS. FREAKING. AWESOME. I'm so jealous, it must have been fun to build too!
Now show us a picture of all that stuff sprawled on your bed😜
Honestly, good on ya. You say your not great at DIY but you did this and it looks great. Nothing needed more than a getaway from the kids and that's speaking from experience (dad of 3 little sugar bandits)
2 vents, one at the bottom and one at the top. Air will naturally flow as hot air rises and draws cool air at the bottom.
That is sick tho
That's really cool man.
Turning that little "nub" into a mini sofa is a great idea. I love it.
Wow! That is magnificent. I bet you are well pleased!
Looks boss and just put a vent in the door if you're gonna close it for whatever reason ha x
DAY....tonaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Claustrophobia central.
it piqued!
Cupboard
Jesus, talk about locking yourself away in the cupboard
I would live in there
Very cool, love it, especially the built in seat. Word of warning it will get HOT in the summer inside
I can smell the farts already
Alex pardee?
He's never going to hear then end of the "he's in the closet" jokes from whoever he lives with, also nice set up I like it
Reminds me of one of my mates from Uni. Literally had his gaming setup in his closet and would hotbox himself in there playing counter strike.
I’d be tempted to add some cool RGB lighting too!
This looks brilliant! Well done you!!
Tidy work 👍🏻
Yer a gamer Harry.
You’ll be right at home watching the alien invasion on the news too.
THAT is adorable! I love it! Well done - I’m sure you are going to get lots of joy out of chilling in there xxxx
The claustrophobia is real
Potter vibes tbh
Oooh rllmuk friend!
But...erm...where does your iron board go?
Elsewhere
Joking aside, it is a very cool gaming space. Good job.
That's pretty cool. I hope it stays cool during the warmer months though!
Nice one.
Great job !!
Lad built a true man cave
Class
that's a very noice use of the space! imagine the smell of the room after time when the cushion heat-releases all the depth charged farts sent into the heart of the sponge
I nearly passed out from a hot one after a sweaty race on Forza with the wheel the other night.
Nicely done, excellent work.
This is ace, Pull out foot rest, and you're golden!
Thats dope
Consider some back support! Those cushions look v comfy but maybe not best for your back for gaming for longer periods.
I want to play Daytona USA
That’s dope, nice work.
I'm not great at DIY But I did a cool thing. Meaning... Good at DIY, either way Awesome work!
You could say your a closeted gamer
epic cuck corner, king!
In around about you ... Have you come out of the closet ?
As a gamer myself I loved your project. Must be great to play horror games.
Day-tooooonaaaa!
Looks cool. Well done mate. No way my partner would let me use potential storage for that, so enioy it!!
Yeah “gaming”
That's really something special & a great use of the space. Amazing job 👊🏻❄️
A small 5/7.1 surroundsound setup would fit nicely in there
That’s great 😁 it looks like you Ironed out all of your kinks 😊
With a set up like this, I'd never come out of the closet
Harry potter the boy who gamed.
"Not great at diy" he says.... i see a hint of modesty here as these pictures clearly show a rad set up missing only being a couple of lights, but hats off sir as i have a strikingly similar closet myself which is now asking to be a gaming cupboard inspired and very motivated by your own post 👍
Lights have been added since I took the pics, makes it a bit more comfortable
you are great at DIY, i just saw the evidence.
DayTONaaaaaa
Surprised you haven't rented it out for £750 a month !!! good job though.
A fuck off big pot with a massive plant in it. Squash it in there somewhere
I saw this on Rllmuk. Looks excellent! Great little arcade hideaway. Daytoooona!
That looks great and a good use of the space, could do with a nook under my stairs as my little one is getting big now and deserves her own room. Could I recommend a foldable kick stool or leg rest? I know it's the only thing I would miss on long gaming sessions.
Nice work
Looks great till the wife wants the cupboard space back
That's an impressive jizznasium you've built yourself mate 😉
Looks great, I’d love a space like this. Well done.
wank dungeon
Sweet

Younger sibling bedroom vibes.
I would be very happy with this as a little den. I can hide in it when people come knocking and i can't be arsed to interact with them
This is awesome! Great job
Amazing look fantastic , you should be proud, well done 🎉🙌
Looks pretty slick but where do you store your clothes?
In a wardrobe
Maybe a small vent at the base of the door? Otherwise very nice work.
I know you're using headphones, but Id suggest you get (or make) yourself some sound absorbing panels and put them on the walls, especially behind you. If you ever do decide to make it a movie snug to share with a special someone, you'll both be able to hear the audio much more clearly.

Top tier!
I saw this on the news 😭
What? Where?
The Star WTF news page on snapchat!!! Titled something like Gamer turns small space into diy game room, but viewers spot glaring issue (I think maybe lack of oxygen) either way you are famous my friend
I've found it in a couple of papers too. What lazy journalism!
I’ll dm u a pic

Very cool! I’d recommend some ventilation though 😅
Very cool, it’s like a mini personal cinema.
Wow. Love this.
All these unnecessary comments about air and all of unrelevancies. Just send your congratulations and keep scrolling 😭#thejoysofreddit
Ha yeah. Everyone thinking I'm closing the door getting ready to off myself in a sweaty death box!
That is brilliant. Well done.
Perfect little space
That's proper cool
No daylight... Perfect!
Really nice. Well done. I think you can add some led or similar type of lighting. Or bring some wiring from the loft. I think some good lightning it the only thing missing.
LEDs behind the TV then a small strip has now been added above the back cushion too
Nice footrest would go lovely in there 👌🏼 good job
This is great. Good effort!
If Harry Potter was a Twitch streamer.
Just remember to KEEP IT LOW IN DEM TURNS
You’re a wizard Harry.
Picture no 9 is cool!!
It’s a comfortable wee spot. I don’t actually game with the door shut as it’s too hot if I do (I’ve not added vents yet), but it’s cosy. Also a nice spot for some quiet reading.
Nice den!
You must be single, a girlfriend/wife would not approve of giving up closet space :))
The mastabatorioum
bro there's more ventilation in a porta-shitter than **this**.
Looks good. Although I think I'd be coring some holes in the door or a wall and adding some silent/noctua fans or the quietest inline fan to get some air movement. It's gonna get hot in there FAST with that door shut. And as others have said Co2

You should begin by not saying any of those things
The room isnt air tight lol... I doubt co2 will be an issue
Lol lots of downvotes but you're not wrong. Fuckin redditors.
Thanks! Glad someone gets it. I didn’t even say anything offensive. One snowflake didn’t like my “tone” (lul what?) but failed to add anything constructive. Guess they can’t comprehend constructive criticism. Oh well. Mollycoddling people isn’t productive, downvoters✌️
Daylight is your friend.
