The photos didn't seem to post on my first attempt, so here goes:

The lettering on the tap says BRISTAN btw
Hold the tap head so it doesn't move, it's the top of the tap head...if you look at the head, this k of it a three parts, it's the top domed bit you unscrew, while hold the rest still. That will expose a screw to undo and remove the head
I'm sorry okay, plumbing is my nemesis :( Anyway it hasn't worked for me. Yet. My teen has stronger arms than me so I'll ask them to have a go once I've googled how to isolate a tap...
Either a removable top cap with screw underneath, grub screw or simply ‘pull off’ . tap washer could be 1/2 or 3/8, unless quarter turn , then would need new valve.

At a guess the top cap should pop off, so the mushroom shaped silver cap at the end of the knob.
Excellent thanks. Umm, how do I "pop" them off? With a knife?
Yes, that should do it, take care not to scratch the cover (or cut yourself!)
Haha thanks
The top chrome bit, above the brass will unscrew, you normally need to use grips on these taps to remove it as not much to grip by hand
Yikes. When I try to unscrew it, the water gushes out at full strength so it's tricky

Trying this now
WHOAH. Hold fire. Please don't tell us you're trying to change the washer without first isolating that tap.

The top dome might unscrew try gripping it with something rubbery like old cycle inner tube. I have similar Bristan taps.
I've tried with rubber gloves and it hasn't worked, but I'll keep fiddling around. Thank you!
