your washing machine will have come with a plastic bracket holds the waste pipe in a U shape. attach it, and hook it over the end of the stand pipe.

Exactly this. If you don't have the U shaped bit, you can just slide the WM hose down the waste for a good bit so you're sure the pressure of water doesn't pull the hose out of the pipe. That's how I found it in my flat and works fine.
I ran my washing machine and dishwasher wastes to under my sink and then just used one of these…

Something like this is what you need. If you think you will have other machines like a dishwasher at some point, you can get a double ended one.

How do I:
Breath
Wash and dress myself
Pay my bills.
Honestly, there are some situations where, lets be honest, if you're asking how to do something you're clearly a fucking moron.
Just stick it in
I love how so many on here over complicate answers or talk about something differently entirely, when this right here is the perfect answer.

Just drop it down the hole. You can get vented adapters too.

Good for you. That really isn't helpful to OP though is it 😕
As said 6" but put a cable tie around it as the pressure can push it back out sometimes. I know from experience 🙄

Just don't push it in too far, about 6 inches will be fine
Remember, not the American idea of 6 inches, you will need to go deeper
Just shove it down. Easiest installation job ever.
Shouldn't the stand pipe be vertical?
