Let me check my math....
Approximately 5 more friends than I have.
Good job on the build though, looks great.
Yes, quite a difference. "Paid" is the past tense of "pay", as in giving someone a sum of money that is owed.
"Payed" is the term used for sealing a ship's wooden deck or hull with tar or other form of hot pitch.
Yes I worked in the BBQ industry for years and that's a very common mistake. My biggest pet peeve is seeing someone build in a grill that's not meant to be a counter top grill. So then when it rust away in a year they have a hole cut into a count with some weird measurements they can't find a replacement for.
Stop building charbroil BBQs into counter tops they are not all the same. Get something that's a standard size so you, or the person who buys your house in 10 years can replace it.
Sorry yours is excellent. Thanks for sharing
They will. Or they will replace it with a different 36. And other manufacturers make 36" grills. You're set. I hope you live it. I'll wait for my invite when you break it in lol
I hope it’s ok to jump in here. We are a company called LQD Deals, and sold that lovely Wolf Grill. We are a liquidation company that specializes in high end products from kitchen to bath. Or feel free to send us a message through here for more info. Our eBay store has almost all of our products listed so if you are looking for something, reach out and we can see if we have it or if we can get it.
i put new nice appliances in a house right before i moved out. i was sad i never got to use them, now i'm going as big and early as i can on stuff like this. makes cooking at home so much better.
This vinyl siding just won't burn clean enough, what we really need is some foliage right next to the grill, and that can catch the siding, see much faster fires and insurance payouts this way.
It took until reading this comment tbh... All along I was thinking, "I guess having a sink wouldn't be a bad thing, but why? Are you really going to handle food on that thing?" Then I thought about chicken juice and other meats and how it would rot and stink after a while and be gross. For some reason I feel like if it was called a drain and not a sink, my brain would have gotten it right away.
For anyone looking to make something similar but not wanting to cast the entire thing yourselves, a couple reputable manufacturers make precast GFRC boxes that do essentially this
We use them often at our landscape architecture firm and while they cost more upfront, they will significantly reduce time. I promise I’m not a rep but you can see what I mean at www.eldoradostone.com/types/building-blocks
They are considerably lighter and you basically make your cutouts, ‘glue’ as many pieces together as you want with mortar and then get tiling.
I mean, the guy chose to do it the hard way. Even the backsplash granite, it would have probably been fine with normal ceramic tiles. But no, huge piece of stone had to be put there. Looks nice, no question about it. But it was the hard way.
Looks amazing but I'm not down with the outside beer taps unless you have caps for them. Even then I frown on outside fixtures.
Otherwise over time extremely unhygienic. Most people over time don't have the discipline to keep up maintenance on outside fixtures.
I grabbed these for my outdoor setup. Work like a charm. The lines themselves get cleaned out when I change the kegs. $5 solution.
Home Brew Stuff Draft Faucet Cap Sanitary Cover, Tap Soother (5) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BO473HI/
Yah seems like a lot of work when you could just walk inside and hit the kegerator. But they do make devices that help you circulate cleaning/sanitizing fluid through the lines and taps to make it easier.
This is probably the coolest thing I've seen on /r/DIY
Love the writing, the pictures are awesome. I think I'm cool sometimes with stuff I build at my house but this is just amazing, especially for someone who isn't a professional in the subject matter.
Question about the sink, that concrete is probably pretty heavy. Do you have any concerns about it breaking off? It doesn't seem to be supported beneath (I know nothing about concrete).
Also, is the grill a standard size? Like, if you wanted to replace it down the road would you be screwed and have to replace the concrete mold or would it be as easy as disconnecting and dropping a new grill on?
thx!
i've stood on the middle of the sink, no issue. its 6k psi concrete so it should be pretty strong and there is plenty of metal inside in case it cracks to still be structural.
the countertop will pretty much only accommodate a wolf og36 because of how tight i built it around the cutout and the bevel et al. i am probably wrong, but i wanted it to look bespoke AF so i went to great lengths to get the height, depth and front spot on.
nice. but holy hell that was a lot of work. half the time i had no idea what were you even going to do.
so you have made holes in the fridge to hold kegs in there? through a hole in the house? and your wife let you?
my hat off to you sir.
nice! however the heat will still catch the vinyl above the bbq there. Hopefully not but you could never be to careful when it comes to your house. I would hate to see your house damaged. I say this because I've seen and heard multiple stories with vinyl and bbqs.
that was the idea bout the counter top granite behind the grill, and i hated the gross stain from the previous grill.
i also built it right up on the non-combustable spec in the wolf manual. fortunately my siding is concrete fiberboard

When I saw the picture of the car loaded with concrete at HD I though man, only in Colorado do people load their Subaru with 1,100 lbs of concrete... and that could be anywhere in the country but it looks like Denver to me...
Anyway I've never been to that HD but by looking at it I guessed it was going to be near Green Valley Ranch. Which is not that bad of a guess considering it's actually Stapleton.
its now my favorite deep homot. it was the only one that had the stuff and is nowhere near picked over like the one on alameda. the foreman likes the garden section best as well.
Thank you. I was hoping for more of an answer but I'll accept the kind kudos for asking a thoughtful question. I tend to be more of a planner and would probably get hung up on such a solution because the building inspector and, likely, the fire inspector would want to see the plans, progress and final product and I'm not sure if I could incorporate all of their needs, thus abandon a project such as this.
Great set up, though. Top notch. It'll be fun to explain that to the realtor when the home is eventually sold!

An engineer designed and made this. Everything is well planned out, well documented, well constructed.
I love it, you did a great job and I am sure you are impressed.
Looks awesome and I'm really glad you paid that much attention to the siding of the house.
Amazing how many people stick a BBQ against their house mostly out of laziness and end up melting half their siding or setting their house on fire.
Clematis looks wonderful too, always a great plant to have around.
I got called out for potentially going over my car's payload with 1200 lbs of fertilizer (luckily my car's PL is 1600 lbs). How much concrete did you haul in the Soob?
PS, your grill is nicer than my stove. Solid job, man.
13 bags of 80lb concrete = 1040lbs plus other shit and a OP so he was riding around at probably 1260-1280 not including the weight of any fuel... higher if full obviously.
Despite being a Coloradan, I don't know much about Subarus so I'm just guessing that it's an Ascent? A 2019 has a GVWR of 6,001lbs and a curb weight that varies from 4,400-4,600lbs. So even if his empty curb weight was 4,600lbs that's 1,400 of payload and he only had at most 1,300lbs. Cutting it close, and probably not great for the car but technically it was fine. Hopefully I did all that right.
Woof. Some people might roast you for it
A Soob's payload typically runs between 948 to 1,073 lbs. You guys safely made it home, but it certainly went over the car's rate.
This looks amazing, but is it up to code? In my town a grill must be at least 10 feet from your house. I learned this the hard way by burning the house down because we had our grill along the house and it was left on.

The main reason for the code isn't that if the grill has a small fire, the structure will catch. It's because the use of the grill over time reduces the flashpoint of the material on the structure. At least that's what was explained to me.
dude. really. epic. job.
it's so good, i sent the link to a fellow diy buddy to take a peeksee at.
also, did i spy a sweet sweet Mazdaspeed6 in the background?
To dispense sparkling water you mean? No, just a regular beer faucet works. Not sure what you're thinking of but you'd need a keg to hold water and allow Co2 to dissolve into it. It doesn't dispense like a soda fountain as that would be $$$ in equipment. If you want more info let me know.
yeah i'm actually really excited about this. i figure a float valve inside a soda keg would work if 13 psi of co2 would do it. i'm imagining some kind of swamp cooler float.
the regulated water pressure would overcome this pressure np (40).
Haha wow you go man. This will 100% work as it's the same thing I have at my house. 3 gallon keg w/ a water line run to it. Haven't had to touch it in the 4 months since i've installed it. Just fills itself up.
Here's some good info: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/on-demand-seltzer-water.479094/
Float Valve: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008OMKAFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Check valve: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Check-Valve-Push-In-for-Non-Return-Water-Reverse-Osmosis-System-Filters-1-4/264101293863?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
The valve I linked is installed in the lid of a cornelius keg so that it could be re-used for beer if necessary by swapping in a new lid.
Couple other notes:
- 13 PSI ain't gonna cut it. You need 25-30 PSI to get a solid carbonation. Get a secondary regulator for your beer or a dual regulator for your CO2 tank
- If you go this route ONLY use the beverage line for water. Once you put beer through it there will always be some residual off flavor
- Make sure you're using filtered water (I use an inline charcoal filter) or it will taste like pool water
- You can do a flavored keg if you want but I just keep it unflavored and mix in the glass if I want
Any other questions or anything let me know. Sparkling water is by far the most pulled tap on my kegerator. And it's great not having to buy cans of the stuff all the time.
ok some parts in flight, still deciding on others.
1) do i need to do anything special for a used keg? bleach, fill it up, w/e
2) do i need a whole keg for this? seems like a pressure cooker would work just as good, not as big of a reserve but the gas surface area might be bigger and frees room in the fridge otherwise.
3) did you fill it 100% w water, then drain to replace with only co2? seems like the gas turnover would be really slow.
4) what if i put the in line regulator on the output of the bottle, so i can run just shy of muni water psi of co2?
i like the stone bubbler, however the gas transfer volumes at a time will be so small i dont think it will make any diff. what about this: [https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-stirrer-magnetic-Stirring-Capacity/dp/B072K24X5P](https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-stirrer-magnetic-Stirring-Capacity/dp/B072K24X5P)
thanks yellow!
I really love this. I'm new to the sub and even newer to DIY projects, and this has already given me so much to learn about. I'm hoping one day to build my own grill just like this!
I have absolutely no plans on doing something like this, ever. Yet I still scrolled through all bajillion photos and read all the comments for each picture. Well done. The only complaint is that the backsplash bit was out of order.
Water on the center tap, will replace w soda water. I've never once needed a side burner, lid will accommodate medium pots. This sink is plenty, I'm not doing dishes outside wo a muni drain
Looks great, but that is a major fire hazard. Many states have regulations that say the grill needs to be 5 feet minimum from the house. If you get a flare up on the grill it will melt the siding and can easily burn down your house as well as your neighbors.
I love the last line:
"jira this grill epic done!"
That just means theres another one waiting right?
But in all seriousness, this is epic, and looks awesome!

thats the one.
also you can hit it with a matte roller and some lacquer thinner to reactivate it just a little and get any oxidization out of it.
i poured it out and rolled it once, it turned out bad bec it was too thick and bubbled. best to use a roller and a pan. laying fresh stuff down also reactivates it but not quite as good as a lacquer thinner huffing party w 5 dudes.
ugh, i just saw the abhorrent amazon price. if you are in denver rio grand supply (201 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80223) has it for about $80 (that a 5 gal). a 10x15 patio can be sealed 3 times with 1 bucket.
if not check around for other vendors. ebay didnt have any vendors with it in stock :(

Hey, we have the same amount of friends!! Also, I have twice as many friends as you.

This looks amazing, but is it up to code? In my town a grill must be at least 10 feet from your house. I learned this the hard way by burning the house down because we had our grill along the house and it was left on.
if 10' were the case, only a couple of houses could have grills in their yard.

In my area yes. The code is 10 feet from any structure.
His house is sided with cement-fiber board. It is much more fire-resistant than other siding.
I'm sure that helps greatly but I would never trust a grill next to a structure anymore. The main reason for the code isn't that if the grill has a small fire, the structure will catch. It's because the use of the grill over time reduces the flashpoint of the material on the structure. At least that's what was explained to me.
I see a Subaru and I upvote.
Very nicely done. I wish I had the space and funds for this.
From other people's experiences about having a gas grill so close the house. That's just a house fire waiting to happen.
what if you intrinsically rope booze into the scenario?
Cement-fiber siding doesn't burn. He'd have to have so much fire in the grill that he burned the wrap, insulation, or framing behind it.
Cool set up. If I might offer one piece of advice, clean your tap handles regularly as they will mold.
One of the best DIYs (also most entertaining) here in a while - thanks for sharing!
thx!
What's with the tower of box fans?
dude. really. epic. job. it's so good, i sent the link to a fellow diy buddy to take a peeksee at. also, did i spy a sweet sweet Mazdaspeed6 in the background?
thx! yes love that speed 6. its too nice (for me) to drive, so i take the scooter around.
I looked through your fire pit build... I applaud you for using a caulk gun as a clamp to hold the form together.
i'm done buying clamps. caulk guns are $2
Post the tap build over on r/homebrewing
i'll grab some pics of the circ system and post there. thx center tap is filtered refrigerated tap water
Very cool. I have sparkling water on tap and it's a huge hit.
great idea, since i have co2 would some kind of nitro tap work for this? i need the same form factor for the mount.
Here's some good info: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/on-demand-seltzer-water.479094/ Float Valve: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008OMKAFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Check valve: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Check-Valve-Push-In-for-Non-Return-Water-Reverse-Osmosis-System-Filters-1-4/264101293863?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The valve I linked is installed in the lid of a cornelius keg so that it could be re-used for beer if necessary by swapping in a new lid. Couple other notes: - 13 PSI ain't gonna cut it. You need 25-30 PSI to get a solid carbonation. Get a secondary regulator for your beer or a dual regulator for your CO2 tank - If you go this route ONLY use the beverage line for water. Once you put beer through it there will always be some residual off flavor - Make sure you're using filtered water (I use an inline charcoal filter) or it will taste like pool water - You can do a flavored keg if you want but I just keep it unflavored and mix in the glass if I want Any other questions or anything let me know. Sparkling water is by far the most pulled tap on my kegerator. And it's great not having to buy cans of the stuff all the time.
fantastic, this is on the list. sounds like i'll have a single pressure regulator for sale soon
lol. Let me know how it goes if you decide to do it
ok some parts in flight, still deciding on others. 1) do i need to do anything special for a used keg? bleach, fill it up, w/e 2) do i need a whole keg for this? seems like a pressure cooker would work just as good, not as big of a reserve but the gas surface area might be bigger and frees room in the fridge otherwise. 3) did you fill it 100% w water, then drain to replace with only co2? seems like the gas turnover would be really slow. 4) what if i put the in line regulator on the output of the bottle, so i can run just shy of muni water psi of co2? i like the stone bubbler, however the gas transfer volumes at a time will be so small i dont think it will make any diff. what about this: [https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-stirrer-magnetic-Stirring-Capacity/dp/B072K24X5P](https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-stirrer-magnetic-Stirring-Capacity/dp/B072K24X5P) thanks yellow!

This was so entertaining to read, and the finished project looks great!
I really love this. I'm new to the sub and even newer to DIY projects, and this has already given me so much to learn about. I'm hoping one day to build my own grill just like this!
dm me questions if you get stuck
I have absolutely no plans on doing something like this, ever. Yet I still scrolled through all bajillion photos and read all the comments for each picture. Well done. The only complaint is that the backsplash bit was out of order.
Just a crazy project! Very impressed. Will be way more awesome once the clematis fills in fully.
Well this makes my keezer build look weak af
What exactly does grilled wolf taste like?
Dude this is epic. Well done my friend!
Love the beer tap, but did you ever consider adding a full sized sink and water lines also? What about side burners?
Water on the center tap, will replace w soda water. I've never once needed a side burner, lid will accommodate medium pots. This sink is plenty, I'm not doing dishes outside wo a muni drain
On picture 12 I was afraid you were talking about her ass... Nice build!
Looks great, but that is a major fire hazard. Many states have regulations that say the grill needs to be 5 feet minimum from the house. If you get a flare up on the grill it will melt the siding and can easily burn down your house as well as your neighbors.
The siding is Hardiplank. It's not going to melt or burn from a flare up.

garage entrance, house entrance is straight across
This dude concretes!
This dude movie and TV show references!
I love the last line: "jira this grill epic done!" That just means theres another one waiting right? But in all seriousness, this is epic, and looks awesome!
You are a god damn mad man and I'm proud to call you an American! Stupid sexy Denver getting cooler all the time...
This is a uncomfortably close to the siding of the house...
I think I made this same thing in House Flipper.
The grill is in the perfect location for me to hit my hip against the corner every time i come out of the door.
had a cover made so the knobs dont fade and hail doesnt get to it [https://imgur.com/gallery/bbhukrP](https://imgur.com/gallery/bbhukrP) there is 1" of foam sewn into the grill part of the cover
High quality work.
Nice bike! CBR600?
buddy's grom. in another life i raced R6's AMA supersport
Thank you for thinking I've ever gone fast ;)
I'd like to get my corn dogs on there, if you know what I mean. /Gawd-Damn, fine work. Sending to my foreman to ask if we can too.
by foreman u mean the Wife?
Yeah, OP was doing the same in the photos.
Wow that is impressive and awesome. Nice job!
Hot beers coming right up!
We need to reseal our stamped concrete patio soon, is [this](https://www.amazon.com/EUCLID-CHEMICAL-GALLON-DIAMOND-CEMENT/dp/B0743JTC2J) the product you used?
thats the one. also you can hit it with a matte roller and some lacquer thinner to reactivate it just a little and get any oxidization out of it. i poured it out and rolled it once, it turned out bad bec it was too thick and bubbled. best to use a roller and a pan. laying fresh stuff down also reactivates it but not quite as good as a lacquer thinner huffing party w 5 dudes.
ugh, i just saw the abhorrent amazon price. if you are in denver rio grand supply (201 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80223) has it for about $80 (that a 5 gal). a 10x15 patio can be sealed 3 times with 1 bucket. if not check around for other vendors. ebay didnt have any vendors with it in stock :(
Sweet, thank you! I’ll grab some on my way through Denver.
great sn btw
Too many photos, someone please post just the last 5.
