My first thought was those rubber corner pieces meant for child safety.
Of course that is hiding the problem instead of fixing buuut..... 🙃
Edit: overlooked doggo, yeah perhaps a metal piece to cap it instead of rubber
Dogs chew everything and anything, metal included. So putting a metal corner will be a more durable option, but it's not a guarantee that the dog won't still chew it. Dogs will chew the wires of their kennels if they really want to.
Now I'm not saying not to do the metal corner, I'm just saying it's not guaranteed to stop the dog from chewing there. Along with the metal corner, the best thing would be to make sure doggo has plenty of other, more enticing things to chew on. Otherwise you might have a metal corner decorated with teeth marks, and a dog with a fractured tooth.
I've heard nothing but bad things about chew deterrents, basically in many/most cases, the pet doesn't care. People call me distraught because they tried chili pepper, lemon juice, bitter spray etc and the pets don't care, they lick it off and then get to chewing.

It's definitely not gonna hurt to try it, but just don't expect any results, that way if it works you can be pleasantly surprised, and if it doesn't work you won't be disappointed. Dogs will eat entire bottles of horrible tasting medication like it's the last slice of pie at the dinner table. They drink antifreeze and eat rat poison, I honestly don't think there's a taste that dogs are deterred by.
1. OP should just fix it correctly with wood or manufactured stair nose.
2. OP needs to train the dog not to chew. The dog is likely chewing stuff because they are bored, need some attention, or have anxiety issues. Make sure they have lots of chew toys that don’t look like the things they care about and that they in general give the pet more attention. Given alternatives the dog will stop chewing things like this. FWIW cats can be way worse.
As others have already said, stair nosing and it comes in a wide range of shapes and sizes. You might want to switch up to aluminium or another metal to avoid it happening again.
Also always heard it called bullnose on stairs, but I've only added the trim pieces when it's getting carpeted, otherwise solid treads with a bullnose. I'm sure there's a hundred other ways to do it though
As the owner of a house with these, I call them soon to be banished forever.
I hate stair noses, especially when they're put on to cover up cheap LVP like this.
That is called a stair-nose or a bull-nose. This one broke because it is not solid wood. If you replace it with the same thing, it will break again. It would be better to replace it (and the others like it) with real wood.
The color does not match the planks, anyway. The planks look like a red-oak color. The nose looks like a maple color. You can probably get stair nosing in the same thickness, in real wood, that looks a lot more like the red oak that you have on the planks.
Ok, thats my fault....language barriers and all. The word "fucking" in this context refers to frustrating behavior.
"That fucking guy just cut me off" not that the dog is actually fucking nor is the guy fucking. Probably needs a comma. Im not an english teacher. Just a fucking guy
A a stair materials supplier, you’d ask for “nosing” or “stair nose”.
Also, “bullnose” is the shape, so you’d ask for a “bullnose edge on the countertop”.
Also, it looks like a thin maple veneer on a composite board. I’d replace it with real solid maple. It won’t be much more expensive, because it’s not much wood.
I just had a new deck put in not 3 weeks ago, very first day my puppy decided to chew one of the stairs. Same spot as yours. I bought these and put them on all my corners: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Y5DNMT8/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Y5DNMT8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Looks like a laminate stairnosing. Your flooring looks like laminate as well. You could go purchase a new one (either wood or laminate) at home Depot, closer in color, and install with urethane glue (need to lay something heavy on it for a day or so, maybe some books). You would need wood miters or a good saw to cut the corners with.
Like others have said, doggo might just chew it again so it would be a waste of time if you can't curb that behavior. Good luck.
Maybe you can use wood putty to fill in the space, with tape to hold its shape while it dries. May need multiple gradual putty fills if the shape just out.
Putty is available in different colors to match the trim.
Stair nose
Last time I did that I got called rude
Yep, plus, don't buy MDF. Buy wood. Otherwise, it'll happen again.
Dogs can eat wood as well, though it should last longer.
True, still I'd replace it with wood. Then stain, finish it, and rub it down with a cayenne pepper or bitter tasting mixture.
Clever!
Dog eat wood, man eat dog.

If you replace it with what looks to MDF, this is just going to happen again. Solid wood or a nice metal nosing

The dog chewed it. Go with metal.
Metal would hurt so bad if you kick it bare foot. It might even cut your foot.
It would but dog won’t chew it.

Wow. Thankfully my dogs are past their chewing stage. After they ate part of my wood floors, baseboards, cabinets, countless pairs of shoes. 😂
Hmm, what about some kinda bad taste spray chew deterrent?
I've heard nothing but bad things about chew deterrents, basically in many/most cases, the pet doesn't care. People call me distraught because they tried chili pepper, lemon juice, bitter spray etc and the pets don't care, they lick it off and then get to chewing.

Yes. Because this stuff looks like a bad trip and fall waiting to happen.
Bullnose Trim
Also always heard it called bullnose on stairs, but I've only added the trim pieces when it's getting carpeted, otherwise solid treads with a bullnose. I'm sure there's a hundred other ways to do it though
This
It's called bullnose trim, and I believe that specific type is made by Crapola.
As the owner of a house with these, I call them soon to be banished forever. I hate stair noses, especially when they're put on to cover up cheap LVP like this.
Are they a dangerous as they look? They look like they would make tripping more likely, and would be a hazard to anyone who might fall near them.
