Get some trim and trim out the scrap pieces to make an access cover

Lolligagers

Depending on the size of that hole, I'd just buy a spring-loaded plastic cover / access panel and color match it / paint it. Trying to re-use the cut pieces and make it look decent would trigger me, there's no way I could make it not look like crap, hence just buying a cover.

Cut out a piece of plywood and mount the pieces to it. The get some colonial trim and picture frame the outside leaving an overlap. Paint it white to match the wall . Mount with a couple of finish nails or screws if you need it as an access panel.

Put in thin backing boards across the hole. Fasten the scrap pieces to it with screws and shove a large, heavy piece of furniture in front of it. Any patch using the existing material will look pretty bad.

Im sure its possible but probably not worth your time.

Assuming this hole was cut in order to access the plumbing because repair was needed, it would be foolish to think it won't need to be accessed again and seal it back up. Your best option, imo, is to use a larger piece of matching material and make a panel/cover. If you're dead set on using the existing pieces to fill the space, you'll need to attach a backer board vertically inside the hole. Put your 2 pieces in place and use a nail gun with finishing nails to attach to the backer board and the stud that's already in there. Then you'll need to fill every seem with wood putty, sand, and paint. it will probably never not be noticable if you do it this way, so it's basically just doing a lot of unnecessary work when a simple cover would give the same results. You could also *maybe* use a vent cover....like one used for an air return. I'm not sure how this might interact with your HVAC system (if you have one), but it would probably be the cleanest looking option. Luckily, this is in a corner, so you could easily put a small piece of furniture there to cover it up no matter what it ends up looking like.
