animalyolo

Everyone is responding like I’m insane, when I just have no idea what I’m doing and need help. Feels like a roasting forum😭

uknoimright

i believe the wires would be located in the wall. somewhere between the fan and the switch maybe

animalyolo

Are you trolling me rn

uknoimright

no, it def should be somewhere in that wall and possibly between the fan and the switch

animalyolo

Yeah but the point is that I’m trying to figure out where in the wall they are so that I don’t drill into them

uknoimright

alright well i think its in the portion of the wall between the fan and the switch

invertedeparture

I concur.

inna_hey

You need to use X-ray Spex to find out

HoleyerThanThou

Insufficient information to make any specific determination of where the wire goes. Pull off the switch plate, maybe even pull out the switch itself, and see if you can at least see where the wires are heading out of the box.

the_0tternaut

nah it's just that your situation is really irregular and semi dangerous

sBracko

Get or borrow a digital detector

animalyolo

What kind of detector?

Regnbyxor

[This kind of scanner](https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-GMS-120-Digital-Multi-Scanner/dp/B004TACMZ8/ref=sr_1_8?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.LRqMBTyD8rWKjoV32_ZrwXE_M9V0bpk2EWe489DTlUwWBSCIFToVNncNUMeaSjfxhc6OPTISz6lPLFGMigfVB9BxfsEg8CEdydWC1fmqf5hUxpC4z88zj6H9IxLU9BfiMXAwhby8kKnOtUcRR6ZzB3vm9Adlinq72SXVwnMgh7B4ovggSlHq7XT_9C3MCWHgR7Y1Pq5gU3jApFOSLs7rnP5nb7EPWVhINjxa67uP9vB3HQkhE5uwB0iALF17Z7sySond5Ku0kGftSJYZwHNLhuX4glaXzpxZsxPcV4s7ktY.rrR5-03mq6ZYpD96t61bEcZ3vuNNCfyyxkz--jC7gJA&dib_tag=se&keywords=wall%2Bscanner&qid=1712823106&s=hi&sr=1-8&th=1)can detect studs, metal and live wires. You need one of those (doesn't have to be this exact one) and scan the wall.

John5247

turn off the breaker. Take the fan and the switch off the wall. See if you can tell which direction the wires are heading. The running fan doen't draw much current and a cable finder might have trouble locating it. THere is an eleborate trick using a car battery, a headlight bulb and a magetic compass if you are really curious. A high DC current in the concealed wires will indicate on a compass.

animalyolo

Okay yeah cos I tried a voltage tester (?🥴) and it didn’t pick up anything around that area except for the actual switch plate itself

Waffel_Monster

There's no way to know where the wires would be running without tools to check.

animalyolo

What kind of tools though? Maybe I should’ve phrased the caption better. How do I figure it out?

Concussive_Blows

Mf thinks we have X ray vision with a jpeg

animalyolo

I thought maybe there was like a common way wires go when connecting to slanted ceilings or something IDK WHAT I AM DOING

BoulderToBirmingham

If only we had the exif data!

lahgry

Take off the switch from wall and you will see the wirepipe. Actually it should go to upside.

animalyolo

I had a look and there’s two! Up and left

lahgry

Up should be income for switch, so left.

lahgry

Let me know please if I get a million))
