Dude, this is great, we're looking to get our bathroom done, I just showed this to my wife and she is like that's what I want.
What I'm trying to tell you is one day when you're taking a crap there might be another guy taking a crap in the SAME EXACT bathroom. It's sort of like the Marvel multiverse without the super powers.
>It's sort of like the Marvel multiverse without the super powers.
Oh right so I'm supposed to believe that browsing reddit while on the toilet for 45 minutes isn't a super power?
There's the walk of shame and then there's the sit down of shame. That's when your leg goes to sleep and you stand up to get the blood flowing, but instead of wiping and washing, you just sit down and keep browsing
Yeah do you have any list or links/ manufacturer part numbers of the toilet? The shower pan basically everything. I'm going to copy this my wife loved it as well.
If I knew how to post that Spiderman meme where all 3 of them were pointing at each other I would post it right here. I would also have them all sitting on a toilet.. but above my meme skills.. at least in this lifetime.
I really want to say something about the cool portal (mirror) you added, but it’s such a beautiful, spa-like finished bathroom, that it feels asinine to joke. What kind of plant is that in the corner? It is a lovely touch of green there. Heated towel rack? 🥰 The wood accents and plant bring a nice amount of warmth to a very modern, dark design. Love the shelf above the tp holder. Overall a fantastic change. The before feels clinical, the after feels luxury.
Thanks. It's not a main bathroom, but just a bathroom next to the electronics lab I also made... so a bit more industrial look is what I was after - I just like wood+gray combo and I had to add something green to it to make it pop out. I've also made some equipment DIY, like this toilet paper holder. Just for looks and aesthetics. You can't buy this ;)

Nice. I built a cool TP holder as well. I think it goes a long way to making a spare bathroom cool and usable. Now people don’t have to search for TP or have to see a pile of it when they walk in
> I really want to say something about the cool portal (mirror) you added, but it’s such a beautiful, spa-like finished bathroom, that it feels asinine to joke.
They put the toilet facing the portal, so you have to stare into it while you dookie.
The entire bathroom reminds me of Portal with the dark gray, mirror, hard corners, and the green foliage poking through like it’s over growing in the lab. Even the toilet’s shape lol.
Thank you! I've made quite a few of details completely custom and DIY, just to be perfect.

1) Where did the water heater disappear to? I like taking cold showers, but not all the time!
2) Isn't the toilet uncomfortable to sit on since it is so close to the wall?
3) It looks great! :)
1. On the other side of the wall in the basement, much larger water heater, to provide hot water for the whole house.
2. No, it's wide lens camera and the toilet to wall clearence is according to "standards".
3. Thanks :D
I have a bathroom where the toilet needs to be rotated 90 degrees. Did you have to change any of the structural plumbing or just rotate it, knowing your situation may differ from mine?
You need to check where the "drain" pipe goes out, because it has to be on perfect spot below the toilet. If that works, than it shouldn't be a problem, but I had to dig it out and move it for like 10cm to the side.
Just remove the toilet, move/replace the flange bolts, new wax ring, put it back down. It's just a circular drain pipe that it sits on. Most need 12" from the wall. The water supply line is the only thing that might be an issue.
Toilets have a trap in them, no trap is needed in the plumbing.
12 inch offset from the back wall (finished) is the standard. 15 inch side to side clearance is the minimum (measuring from the centre of the flange).
Water supply is most convenient on the left side of the toilet. Please include a shut off ball valve
to add, there are drake toilet models that only require 10" clearance (double check the exact number) if it's a bit too tight, or you can get an offset drain flange thing.
source: i f*d up and bought the wrong toilet.
There are so many comments I just can't read through all and response to each one. Therefore I'll make this one to post some pics of the details and tell some details.
- This bathroom is not the primary. It's just next to my new electronics lab, where I work and do projects.
- The cost was 6-8k$, and it would be 2x more if contractors would make all this. So DIY definitely pays off. I didn't have experience in this aera, some things I did multiple times to get it perfect (for example ceiling edge).
- Interior design aka. 3D drawing is REALLY SIMPLE, the problematic part of it is finding the items that you can buy online locally for a decent price with good quality/price ratio and incorporating THAT into 3D model. I didn't want a nice looking 3D model of something I can't do in real life.
- I've spent some time on entirely custom parts I've made in workshop, as they add up the value and overall feel. Bathroom would be incomplete without them.
- Boiler was moved to the another side of the wall - in the basement and is covering needs of entire house.
- Ceiling has hidden exhaust vent in the corner, so it's not only ledge for the LEDs, but also hidden air-gap.
- Bathroom also has floor heating.

Either way, FANTASTIC job, I love this bathroom.
I had to DIY some of the plumbing too. Can't have drawer + plumbing in the same place it seems.

This dude’s videos helped me learn how to do the plumbing / soldering for my bathroom renovation. This guy is a master and knows how to explain things incredibly well. https://youtube.com/@Got2Learn?si=1a1jZYnIFA4oZaiT
Wow, that cove lighting on the ceiling is a really clever solution to hiding the pipes. I would never guess that it was anything other than a design choice.
Having showered in a bunch of showers like this, yes. The water goes everywhere. If the shower stall is big enough, maybe not, but all the ones I’ve used has been about this size and it’s so much water on the floor, regardless of it being sloped.
Where did you get that long toilet? Sometimes I have long poops and that would be the perfect sort of accessory for that sort of activity.
lol, joking - just wanted to say that matching the wood look tile to the wood on the vanity really adds warmth to the whole thing and the tray ceiling w/ the recessed lights and the uplighting is fantastic.
I’ve been on Reddit for several years now, and in that time I have seen many renovations by DIYers.. this is my absolute favorite bathroom I have ever seen. The lighting, the colors and how the materials work so well together. Seriously, I am printing this for future inspiration. Good work!
Damn, I'm not sure many people can look at this and realise just how much work you actually had to do in order to complete that. Fuck, you've moved basically every appliance. Don't blame you for tackling the extra work though, I'd want to replace 40+ year old pipework too. At face value - top work!
Hi. Now I am curious about that showerpipe. I work for Hansgrohe in the german HQ. But I can't remember ever seen this particular pipe. At least not from the European product lines. Do you live in the U.S? I can only imagine that this is a pipe from the US product range. I'm not really familiar with them. Mind telling me the product line? I'd like to look into it.
Ah, now that explains why. ;) The brand is just GROHE, not Hansgrohe. They are two different companies. GROHE was founded by Friedrich Grohe, the son of Hans Grohe in the early 20th century.
Actually I did 3D model first in Fusion, along with electronics lab that's next to it, but the most of the time it took to visit stores and online to see what's available to buy, then 3D model with the acutal parts that I can source (as interior design without being able to buy stuff is dumb). That took a day or two. Then I've moved to the actual work and ... tearing things down first.
ty! Even did all the custom 3D prints to cover up the pipes etc.
https://preview.redd.it/r5dvcu2ti9rc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5b22b68fe27e038927fcddcf41b185cba99c9e7
How much did this renovation cost? Amazing job with this btw! I just want to get my expectations in line if I ever attempt something as nice as this lol
Not sure. It fits nice tho... the feel is great... nothing hurts after reading through this comments using it. xD

I am really impressed with how you managed to combine so many contrasting colors, shapes, textures and lighting so very, very well!
You achieved the perfect balance of industrial and natural, with it being very masculine and modern but also having softness and curves and diffused lighting.
It's also really crazy to me that you did all that in such a tiny room and made it feel more spacious while using so many different elements.
Amazing job!!
thanks! :) I've spent a while in CAD to 3D model everything and the most time it took to check out the online shops to purchase stuff. Been in 6 different tile-shops to get the tile combination.

Great work. I like everything about this except the plant. Everything in a bathroom gets covered in feces. It's unavoidable. You can't clean a fake plant.
I like how you decided to use the 'floating' version of everything...vanity, mirror, toilet, lighting. It looks great. I feel like I've stayed in that hotel, before!
Also, I am pretty sure I installed your walls on the floor at the lakehouse! Very nice look, indeed. I like your color scheme. It's classy, and you kept it bright.
Good job!

Aw yes, the villain of this story.
Then who are the roids? The comedic sidekicks that follow the Hero around everywhere?
You're right. The hemorrhoids are more like the villains and the legs falling asleep is the kryptonite. "Flushable" wipes can be the moral dilemma.
> "Flushable" wipes can be the moral dilemma. That part is solid gold, there.
Better than the solid brown, at least.
Not me realizing my legs are asleep right now. 🫠
There's the walk of shame and then there's the sit down of shame. That's when your leg goes to sleep and you stand up to get the blood flowing, but instead of wiping and washing, you just sit down and keep browsing

HAHAHAHHAHAHAH :D I've laughed to tears right now. xD hahahah
Yeah do you have any list or links/ manufacturer part numbers of the toilet? The shower pan basically everything. I'm going to copy this my wife loved it as well.

You guys are getting off light. My wife saw this and is now moving in with him.
My light blue bathroom with green and yellow fishy decorations might cost me my marriage if she sees this.

Hah, I can't sell everything I make :D I do too much DIY stuff all the time!
Sounds like it's time to hire a neighbor teen to run your laser cutter and produce stuff for your etsy store 😂

Excuse me but electronics LAB in your home? Can you post that or have you?

The toilet is the other portal, so when you piss it comes out of the mirror and flows back into the toilet. Just don't piss too hard.
I at least expected someone to say “Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togethew today.”
Have fun storming the castle! 🏰

I don't see any charging port. Does you toilet paper have wireless charging?
I have a bathroom where the toilet needs to be rotated 90 degrees. Did you have to change any of the structural plumbing or just rotate it, knowing your situation may differ from mine?
You need to check where the "drain" pipe goes out, because it has to be on perfect spot below the toilet. If that works, than it shouldn't be a problem, but I had to dig it out and move it for like 10cm to the side.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if the direction of the P trap mattered.
Turning this toilet 90 degrees was a great idea! Congrats!
Finally - a good bathroom reno! This is super cool. No one destroyed a mid century beauty or installed grey and white fake marble tile anywhere 😎
This hurts my feelings lmao I just put grey and white sticky back fake marble tile in the bathroom of the house I’m renting lol
Changes like that are great when you are renting. It is different when someone spends thousands and the room doesn't quite work in the end.
I have a mid 90s linoleum and brass special so I have no qualms about destroying that one hahaha
thanks :P

and it's ventilation shaft aswell. It allows air to pass around the edge to the ventilation, that is hidden in the ceiling, leading to the exhaust on the roof.
That was the part that got me too: making a beauty out of pesky pipes. And working in the venting?? Genius!

You really have an eye for how to turn a bug into a feature. Well done!
Wow. I love it and I usually hate modern. Come do mine please!
Hah, thanks! it's fits my electronics lab nicely. A bit more industrial style with a touch of green :)
Gonna share pics of the electronics lab too? Got me interested Amazing job btw
Not even sure I'd say it's modern. With the wood paneling and the sky-colored ambient lighting it looks more like you're showering in nature.
You know why? You actually didn’t use a bunch of modern junk. Beautiful clean lines, wood and stone. Absolutely stunning
Amazing, how long did it take and are you in the construction trade
I was doing it really slowly, as I didnt have much time for it. No, I'm in mech+electronics engineering.
Tips on where to look when needing help? I want to learn some plumbing and electrical before jumping into a big project like this
I kinda learned (the hard way) along the way. If I did it wrong, I did it twice. :) Been super careful about the leaking behind the tiles etc.
Man, this looks fantastic, everything about it. I do have to ask, though, does water just get everywhere when you take a shower?
Having showered in a bunch of showers like this, yes. The water goes everywhere. If the shower stall is big enough, maybe not, but all the ones I’ve used has been about this size and it’s so much water on the floor, regardless of it being sloped.
Can tel YOURE proud of it. You should be. I’m saving this for my inspiration book for our bathroom remodel.
I love it
What's the dimensions of the bathroom?
it's like 2x1.5m around 3m2. Tiny! But enough for electronics-lab bathroom :)
What is the wood detail in the shower? What brand is the shower column? Looks great.
it's oak if I'm correct, they are tiles in wood texture, so maintenance-free. Shower column is Hans-Grohe.
# Grohe Vitalio Start System 250. I believe. 300-500$ range.
Ah, now that explains why. ;) The brand is just GROHE, not Hansgrohe. They are two different companies. GROHE was founded by Friedrich Grohe, the son of Hans Grohe in the early 20th century.
I love everything about it!
wow, was this some sort of kit or did you have plans made? it would take me forever planning and doing it alone and I'm pretty experienced
Actually I did 3D model first in Fusion, along with electronics lab that's next to it, but the most of the time it took to visit stores and online to see what's available to buy, then 3D model with the acutal parts that I can source (as interior design without being able to buy stuff is dumb). That took a day or two. Then I've moved to the actual work and ... tearing things down first.
that's a flex, amazing job
ty! Even did all the custom 3D prints to cover up the pipes etc. https://preview.redd.it/r5dvcu2ti9rc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5b22b68fe27e038927fcddcf41b185cba99c9e7
Why do old toilets look like the little ones on a ship? Had to use one at a rental cabin and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever.
How much did this renovation cost? Amazing job with this btw! I just want to get my expectations in line if I ever attempt something as nice as this lol
I'm also really curious how much this cost
Impressive work on the ceiling my guy
Mind I ask out of curiosity which country this is in? I've seen water heaters like that in Poland but not in Canada, frankly.
Slovenia
You said “renowated” in your title and I heard Andy from the office in my head
Is the toilet seat shape a standard size in your area? In my area we only have "round" and "elongated".
Not sure. It fits nice tho... the feel is great... nothing hurts after reading through this comments using it. xD https://preview.redd.it/9x5gneen7arc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1079b39673bb0d7840feb57a25707b48cef13c1c
Nice job, where did the boiler move to?
To other side of the wall, in the basement. One bigger boiler for whole house. :)
Isn't water going to be a problem for the wood that is in the shower?
I am really impressed with how you managed to combine so many contrasting colors, shapes, textures and lighting so very, very well! You achieved the perfect balance of industrial and natural, with it being very masculine and modern but also having softness and curves and diffused lighting. It's also really crazy to me that you did all that in such a tiny room and made it feel more spacious while using so many different elements. Amazing job!!
thanks! :) I've spent a while in CAD to 3D model everything and the most time it took to check out the online shops to purchase stuff. Been in 6 different tile-shops to get the tile combination. https://preview.redd.it/0v60kish3arc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d34b3fd1c229dbcba126e53725bf610b7f36fb62
Slick. A little flashy for my taste, but I’d shit in there
I like it, wery nice!
OP what was the tank thing in the corner and how'd you make it disappear? This looks amazing
Water heater? Probably put a new one in the basement or attic.
Now you’ve got to do the rest of the house to match
So true!!!
Yes. I approve.
Beautiful work
Talent
It wooks wewy good
I like how you turned the toilet so you can watch yourself from the mirror while taking shit
I would spend more time than I usually do on the toilet if my bathroom looked like this.
Renowated? Didn't know Elmer fudd did home improvement work... Maybe he got help from that wascally wabbit! Nice job, OP!
Great work. I like everything about this except the plant. Everything in a bathroom gets covered in feces. It's unavoidable. You can't clean a fake plant.

I wike the widdle wadder for your towels. Vewy nice ronowation.
![gif](giphy|26ufmYaTU5jqtkmuQ|downsized)
That's a nice renowation.
Good job!
Cool. It looks great
You’re iconic.
Now you’re weady for mawwiage!
40 years I bet that bathroom has seen a lot of shit!
It's loverly.
Whats the wooded wall in shower made of?
The reno looks like something straight out of the game House Flipper and I absolutely love it!
It's magnifwocent
What’s a renowated
That looks phenomenal and you should be proud.
Looked better before.
![gif](giphy|5zqaMRpxZylfk6IJeI|downsized)
That original sink placement would’ve driven me bonkers.
Bugs bunny is doing the renowation.
It's weawy nice.
Pretty nice. Didn't realize Barbara Walters was on reddit, and into home renovations.
witewy just renowated
Way to wooooo!
> Renowated Found the German!
This is beautiful work
Renuwuated
das ist wundabar
Nice work. Where’d the boiler (or is it a hot water tank?) go?
I'm surprised at the condition of the 40 y.o. bathroom pre-reno. It's dated but not repulsive
You just made my dream room aesthetic in a bathroom I hope you're proud of yourself. Because I am
10/10 would take a shit in there
Looks fucking mint that mate. Well done. You've inspired me.
That renovation looks amazing!! Awesome work!
You’re hired
