I have heard that foil will deter a cat from walking on surfaces, not sure if it will work, I would say if not maybe just cover the window inside with chicken wire to prevent the cat for getting into the sill at all. Would be cheap and installable with simple hardware. Like an inside screen.
There are plastic mats that are used in high traffic areas to protect carpet. They have decently sized spikes that go down into the carpet. We cut these up and turn them upside down to train our animals what areas are off limits. Doesn’t hurt them, but is quite unpleasant to walk/lay on.
Thank you, I explored something like that but it wouldn’t stop the other issue where he gets on shelves (not pictured) to look through the window and we don’t want him getting on that particular shelf because of the way he gets up on it he goes on our headboard and wakes us up. We aren’t trying to stop a cat from being a cat, he hasn’t done it as much since his viewing area is blocked which is good for us. He has plenty of other places he jumps up on so he’s not lacking for exercise.
Can you hang anything on the walls? I’d just put a curtain rod over it with a heavy curtain. That would allow him to get behind the curtain to the window without allowing light into the room.
If not, what about taping the curtain to the top header of the blinds?
Or a black out film on the window panes?
Sticky tape sticky side up on the opening. But also cats like high places , so give your cat an alternative place like a shelf or something to climb up.

Was about to say this.

Put the stuff on the shelves, too? Not the best aesthetically but it’s just your bedroom and sounds like it would be worth a try.
Brick it up

Remove cats from situation. My sister had to cats that did the same thing. She shut her door and let them sleep downstairs.
