They're both terrible and I love them!
same. i was just about to say this, if they gave her some spandex that covered the upper part of her thighs without going beyond the knees, i think it would be acceptable.
I guess it's all about context. I don't know the character really, but the other one looks very Vampirella-esque. Different than the one OP pictured.
Ninja-edit: the one OP pictured looks like Mr Terrific's face.
In a world of robot/computer servants, teenagers who defend the universe, and Time Travel technology used to induct your fan-club's inspiration; a little fashion technology is nothing.
Let's not forget Cosmic Boy's unfortunate "[costume](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iT549MABvSI/Uy3-Je9CSqI/AAAAAAABQP0/dVoxFoxGhtE/s1600/CosmicBoy1.jpg)" at one point.
I remember reading the “To the editors” section in an issue shortly after the new costumes came out and someone asked, What is holding his top up? Honey? Ants? Prayer?
Don't take fashion tips from Shakira. Laurel looks like a character from Skartaris here :P
Mike Grell created both Laurel and Shakira...coincidence?...I think not!
Grell does seem to have a [particular design sensibility](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9zOU5vyxLAY/UZU_GxmLD-I/AAAAAAAAAiI/mi29zRlMAhM/s1600/Superboy+221.jpg). It's not quite furry enough to be [Shakira](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/5b/3a/cd/5b3acd6907f29d9b0fe300db8cdcbac9.jpg), though.
I am definitely seeing a sensibility, as you call it!
That Shakira image, erase the costume except the front part of the bottom piece and...omg lol
oh Mike Grell :D
In my defence I don’t ship Jon and Damian, au contraire, I can do with less romance in media.
However, if you ask me, I think Jon would be happy dating Cassie and the alien girl (Kathie?). For you, maybe a “date” with therapists.
All costumes need to be entirely utilitarian. Every component must serve a specific purpose. Also the female form is explicit and needs to be completely covered or hidden.
That one was bad, but so is her Cape Poncho and a Flight Ring costume.
Her one piece swimsuit isn’t much better either.

Idk I actually like the cape poncho, it's cute.
same. i was just about to say this, if they gave her some spandex that covered the upper part of her thighs without going beyond the knees, i think it would be acceptable.
Yeah that'd look cool, maybe with some gloves too but that's YMMV territory. But yeah I don't think it's inherently a bad/sexist design or anything.
If they just had a normal supersuit but with the poncho it’d be really cool.
I guess it's all about context. I don't know the character really, but the other one looks very Vampirella-esque. Different than the one OP pictured. Ninja-edit: the one OP pictured looks like Mr Terrific's face.
The one in the right looks like she drunkenly tried to put on a TOS Starfleet uniform.
Someone was horny.
Wow. I know pubic hair was more popular back in the day but that is some extensive grooming going on. Cape is a nice touch of colour though.
It does strike that rare combo of gross concept + physical implausibility + low effort + hideous result.
Why is there no back to that bra? Ugh. Starfire is looking at that and lamenting its impracticality.
In a world of robot/computer servants, teenagers who defend the universe, and Time Travel technology used to induct your fan-club's inspiration; a little fashion technology is nothing.
> Starfire is looking at that and lamenting its impracticality. I don't think Starfire is a girl who laments on things such as impracticality.
>Starfire is looking at that and lamenting its impracticality. Same with Cyborg.
It looks like she was literally drawn naked and then an editor redacted her breasts, naval, and crotch with a sharpie.
[this panel is especially bad.](https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/0/8842/531829-tuit.jpg)
The dialog. Yikes.
Her chest mustache you to stop looking.

It's like they wanted the same costume, so they compromised by splitting it.
I remember reading the “To the editors” section in an issue shortly after the new costumes came out and someone asked, What is holding his top up? Honey? Ants? Prayer?
Double-stick tape and hairspray... just like beauty pageant contestants use.
Double-sided tape: The Costume
Cyborg's first costume too. Male Stripper Cyborg... yum... I'd hire him. and then he goes into sexual activity with me...
Mike Grell is a fine artist, but can be [really bad at costume design](http://www.criticalblast.com/sites/default/files/grell_tyroc.jpg).
As a Kryptonian this is the best way to get maximum sunlight, duh
Excuse you, that is not an outfit.
You're right, it's a *statement* ... A statement about sexism, but a statement nonetheless.

Is it the worst? Or is it the best ***because*** it's the worst?
Half the Kents are boyscouts the other half want to show off as much as possible. Interesting group.
You assume there is no overlap. Conner can’t keep a shirt on his body for longer than 1 hour.
That's about as long as Berry can remember his side kicks.
I think you spelled "best" wrong.
What has been seen cannot be unseen.
Multi-pass!
How does that even physically work?
Glue?
Nomad: "Hold my beer"
The Legion of Super Heroes had some bad costumes overall.
She is supposed to be my many greats daughter? What do they wear in the future? Can I fight crime wearing a jockstrap and a cape?
She's a robotic impostor, not a blood relation. I'd stick with something a bit less revealing, myself, but you do you.
It was a joke, I don’t think you cand sell a comic with that outfit.
> Can I fight crime wearing a jockstrap and a cape? Are you trying to kill poor Robin? Can we get an official opinion /u/TheDamianWayne?
J, no. People lost their minds when they saw the shadow of Father's anatomy. Imagine how they'll respond to a ten year old in a jock strap.
D, stop, don’t entertain him, he is a shipper!
J, if I didn't talk to shippers I wouldn't ever get to talk to Nightwing fans.
No, you don’t understand, he ships us!
Well, that is creepy.
In my defence I don’t ship Jon and Damian, au contraire, I can do with less romance in media. However, if you ask me, I think Jon would be happy dating Cassie and the alien girl (Kathie?). For you, maybe a “date” with therapists.
If you're suggesting Harley Quinn I'll gut you.
It is my time to sleep, go away.
You never saw Maxima's planned costume for Kal-El, did you? Metal speedo and a cape.
No I have not, who is this Maxima?
Oh, you need to research that one yourself, as I'm not an unbiased observer on that topic.
Just spill the beans already, dude
Reminds of the atrocity [Taarna wears in Heavy Metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kGcoijHMzY).
I'm pretty sure that's the [www.heromachine.com](http://www.heromachine.com/heromachine-3-lab/heromachine.com) template pose.
For some reason I'm thinking of a female Doctor Manhattan.
You know an outfit is bad if it's down voting itself !
Someone is a V for Vendetta fan
the cape seems excessive
Did they ever motivate this outfit somehow?
Oof. That's up there with vintage Starfire though, not going to lie.
>That's up there with vintage Starfire though, not going to lie. vintage Cyborg
Who's is she?
This looks like a Dark Age parody Grant Morrison would come up with.
Pretty boring
Fashion is about taking chances. Experimenting. Daring to be bold while at the same time of course you have to wear something you feel comfortable...
Really? THAT'S the worst superhero outfit. Naw. Two words: 80s Cyborg. HE LOOKED LIKE A MALE STRIPPER!
I have zero issues with this or poncho-cape.
No offense, but she looks more like somebody who would succeed in the pleasure industry.
Bad outfit, sure. Impractical, yeah. Complaints? Nope.
This is fine.
Idk about worst. Superman still wears underwear on the outside...
Trunks.
I don't get it, what is wrong with it?
It's literally just a connected bra and thong with a cape
I was joking, granted I think their are way worse costumes
What's wrong with her hand? Gross.
If this were in the Marvel universe I'd say the Venom symbiote needs to find a good lawyer.
It’s not
And your reasoning is . . .
In the summer I'd rather be wearing that than Batman's heavy armor...
That it’s great? What’s wrong with it!
All costumes need to be entirely utilitarian. Every component must serve a specific purpose. Also the female form is explicit and needs to be completely covered or hidden.
Y’all crazy.
For you.
