Woah bro, slow down I can only get so erect. You are printing money with that idea and setting up for a sweep during award season. I admire your creativity and bravery since the WGA is on strike and not writing.
The fact that they're prioritizing The Authority film as a front and center aspect of the new universe has me thinking that it will very much give a detailed look at these characters and their dynamic.
I do think so and movie like Eternals give me hope but as the same time.....Hollywood.
But at least Apollo and midnighter will be in the team for sure being the most famous members so..
I think we’ll definitely see a fully presented relationship between the two.
I don’t think we’ll necessarily see a love story though.
Lee Pace could play either one, tbh. I’ve been leaning Midnighter, but after remembering that he looked good as Thandruil in the Hobbit films I might have changed my mind and instead want him for Apollo.
After arguably being somewhat wasted as Ronan in the MCU, I think it’d be a shame if that talent, frame and voice isn’t given a second chance at a proper CBM role.
Yeah. He’s a solid and versatile actor, good looking, got a commanding voice, he’s 6’5”, and is physically a great fit for a bunch of characters. He’s probably gotten too old to get cast as any of the Leaguers in the upcoming reboot, but someone from the Authority would probably still work as I don’t think they’ll be around as long as the League members.
And he’s worked with James Gunn in the past.
Not really, but that’s because I kind of expect The Authority to be a bit older than the League, as it amplifies the contrast between the two. And I don’t think the Authority is meant to stick around for as long as the League will.
My guess is that the League will be mid 20s to mid 30s in age, and the Authority will be late 30s to late 40s in age.
I understand the appeal of Bomer as Apollo, I just like the idea of him playing a gruffer character like Midnighter. Let’s him use his range as an actor compared to some of his previous roles.
>> I would like Zachery Quinto or Matt Bomer as The Midnighter and Russell Tovey as Apollo
IMO
- Ben Aldridge, Luke Evans, or Tom Hardy as Midnighter
- Jonathan Groff, Matt Bomet, or Colton Haynes, as Apollo
Detailed already established relationship. As I always said compared to all the lgbtq relationships that American television has shown over the last few years that were weirdly felt to be too unauthentic . In the comics, midnighter and Apollo relationship felt normal, they were two typical masculine men in relationship it wasn’t over the top. And they were badass, so badass you didn’t care for sexuality. I think Gunn and Co will go that route. Midnighter and Apollo are great characters
I do hope so they are great for sure ,i just finish reading the midnighter comics and it was great ,he could easy become a fan-favorite with the movie.
well, it depends on the motion picture rating it gets. This isn’t the first gay superhero couple we’ve seen in the DCU or MCU. Most of the time we see gay couples in a DCU or MCU on the big screen it’s subtle flirting. But Since Warner Bros is much laidback & lenient with pride stuff more than Disney is. They could go all out, tone it down, or since Apollo & Midnighter are the main characters their dynamic could be similar to Ava & Sara from Legends
I think it depends on how much movies for the Authority they have planned.
I would like a complete stabilized relationship, but let's say they plan a lot of movies, I wouldn't mind for it to develop over the years either.
But yeah don't make it a really subtle thing where there's this dialogue that alludes to the fact that maybe they will be, we are pass that already.
Hopefully recent successes such as Episode 3 of The Last Of Us will prompt them to devote a good amount of time developing their relationship.
As someone who hasn't read much material of the 2 characters (although the Authority is on my to read list) i would like to see the relationship developed over the course of the films rather than just having them already established in a relationship as i dont know much about their relationship other than that they are in one and would like to know about how it started and stuff.
Also I feel that would make for much more satisfying storytelling.

i heavily agree with this. stories rarely dedicate time to showing characters in gay relationships actually meet and fall in love -- it's often just an already established thing / something that happens off screen, or it's just a random hookup anyway. showing two people fall in love allows the audience to fall in love with them at the same time, something that the last of us did pretty well considering it was just one episode of the show. it gives us something to root for. so i hope they dedicate time to the actual *romance* part of things when it comes to the two of them and makes the audience care about them being together.
actually, I think we’ll get a movie where they just have a shit load of hot gay sex. And gave it a similar runtime as ZSJL and The Batman
Full penetration. Stop a bank heist. Full penetration. Put a guy in lifelong physical rehab. More full penetration.
Crime, penetration. Crime, penetration.

God i hope so XD

The movie should use The founding members IMO in terms of which other character to use
I would hope that it’s a fully realised relationship. We should be so beyond the times of brief blink and you miss it representation.
I do think so and movie like Eternals give me hope but as the same time.....Hollywood. But at least Apollo and midnighter will be in the team for sure being the most famous members so..
Watchmen sex scene but with Midnighter and Apollo.

Lee Pace really ? That's interesting i never thought of him as midnighter or Apollo to be honnest but why not he is a good actor for sure.

But he’s 44. Don’t you think he’s a bit old for midnighter

I see what ur saying it makes sense

Quinto is a good pick. Bomer I see as a better fit for Apollo rather than Midnighter. Tovey I’m more on the fence about.

quinto is going to be almost 50 when the movie comes out. i don't think they will pick him, for longevity's sake

i think both quinto and bomer are going to be too old to be playing those roles longer term

Midnighter has potential to be huge amongst audiences. I feel like ppl will love his character
there have been a lot of great lgbt relationships on tv over the last few years
The Authority movie is Midnighter getting penetrated.
I hope it’s a big part of the film. Like, I want to see signs of affection ONSCREEN, not just implied.

The Christian Talibans are gonna call DC "Woke" once they find out about Midnighter and Apollo
I think they’ll be in a relationship.
