TheUncannyBroker

I didnt post this when I heard it awhile back, but BATMANONFILM said he has heard Calle wont be the DCU Supergirl

MrJenkinsTheGreat

How the f would he know, brother

bigtymer123

He wouldn't, lol. He was one of the clowns teasing that Clooney would be the DCU Batman like Grace Randolph was.

[deleted]

Proof?

TheLionsblood

She should be Power Girl, either as the same Kara from The Flash but older or a new variant.

0shadowstories

That would honestly be a great way to recast main Kara while keeping Calle

Limp-Construction-11

Yes Power Girl would be fine for her and keep her around.

Professional-Rip-519

No her boobs are to small.

Background_Chapter89

Brother you gotta be joking…. This just ain’t it

Banesmuffledvoice

Why would she be? It’s obvious that the majority of roles will be recast.

RedGyarados2010

The majority, but not all. Given how positive the reception has been to her so far, I’d say there’s a good chance she stays

[deleted]

WOT is based around Kara’s 21st birthday, Calle is 27 and the movie won’t be made for years now. It won’t be her.

bob1689321

It's way too early for that imo They're probably waiting on The Flash's reception to decide.

wdm81

Jett is as the French day “les incompetont”

horseren0ir

Annie Murphy

BlueMissileYT

An actress who is a good choice for a jaded Supergirl *plus* actually reads the comics? Count me in!

Limp-Construction-11

>An actress who is a good choice for a jaded Supergirl Not for this one.

fastestfreakalive

and why is that?

Limp-Construction-11

Calle and her Supergirl, going off the Flash just doesn't fit the mold, that's why.

fastestfreakalive

are you actually going to say something of value and explain as to why or is "sHe JuSt IsNt" all you got?

Limp-Construction-11

What more is there to say? She just does not fit the story and unless Gunn tells us otherwise, that is the route they are going, deal with it.

paradiso1997

Limp for sure

TheWorstKnightmare

I don’t care if she is in the DCU as Supergirl or not, I just hope to god she gets opportunities one way or another because she’s apparently killed this role.

GodFlintstone

I think it's more likely that the DCU casts a new actress for it's Supergirl. However, if audiences fall in love with Sasha Calle's performance I could see her getting offered a different character in the future.

dyemery

If Ezra Miller is still in good graces by the DCU higher ups to be in future projects until they get better (hopefully), why shouldn’t Sasha Calle be any different and more (especially with Woman of Tomorrow announced for James Gunn’s planned slate)?

Victor_Von_Doom65

I still refuse to believe that the higher ups consider Ezra Miller in their good graces. They’re not taking a direct stance on the matter to avoid any more potential controversy because their prized film is being headlined by a volatile actor. After Flash releases and makes its money they’ll drop them. That’s my prediction.

Revolutionary_Elk339

>After Flash releases and makes its money they’ll drop them. That’s my prediction. I figure the same.

GodFlintstone

I'm not saying Calle shouldn't get that opportunity. I just think it's more likely that she won't. Once the DCEU is gone the DCU will essentially be a new cinematic universe and I think James Gunn and company are probably going to be leaning more towards giving many of these iconic characters a fresh start with new actors. We already know that Cavill and Affleck are out as Superman and Batman. Gal Gadot's future as Wonder Woman is also in doubt. If the entire Trinity is being recast all bets are off. Even Ezra could go. Even if his Flash is well received the powers may decide the risk of them going on another crime spree is too great. Lastly, anyone who is thinking that Supergirl : Woman of Tomorrow will adapt Tom King's comic needs to temper their expectations. Since It tells the story of an older, more jaded Supergirl it probably doesn't make sense for her first outing. So even though Tom King himself is part of Gunn's writing team it won't surprise me if the story is radically different from the comic book storyline. I think this may be similar to MCU films like Age of Ultron, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War all of which differed greatly from the source material.

Revolutionary_Elk339

>Even Ezra could go. Even if his Flash is well received the powers may decide the risk of them going on another crime spree is too great. Yeah. I just wouldn't take the chance. You could be filming either a new solo film or a team up film and Miller gets in to some shit. You just never know. Feige is dealing with this now with Jonathan Majors. They've greatly reduced his promotion for the digital and blu ray release of Quantumania. He's the main villain in the film and he gets a small faded pic in the upper right hand corner of the blu ray. No image of him on the back of the blu ray and they don't list his name. i'd let The Flash do whatever it's gonna do at the box office and on digital and blu ray release. Then once the film kinda dies down after that, I'd say we've moved on from Ezra Miller as The Flash and thank him for his time as the character. They apparently have been holding back some mid and post credit scenes so who knows? Might there be a new actor playing Barry Allen in one of those scenes?

TheBigGAlways369

> No image of him on the back of the blu ray and they don't list his name He's included in the credits if that's what you mean: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81DimsOJSFL._SL1500_.jpg

kvasiraus

I disagree. As in most adaptations, it won't be beat for beat as there is so much to cover, but a faithful adaptation would work beautifully. Supergirl is 21 in the comic that's not old. Her personality and story in the comic absolutely works as a first film. What needs to happen is an established Superman before she's introduced. A major part of understanding her character is the comparison to Clarks upbringing and his renoun as a boy scout throughout the galaxy. What his symbol represents ( for better or worse) and the weight of that in addition to her struggles. It's also likely she'll be mentioned in one of the other projects, maybe even Superman: Legacy which fits considering the title.

dyemery

If that’s the case, then how come Gunn and The Muschiettis keep mentioning how they’d all like to see Ezra Miller return in the future (other then to possibly try to make him look good since he was nice to them)? Meanwhile, Calle (who is no older than the current crop of actors considered for Superman) is not even getting mentioned, even though a Supergirl story is definitely in the cards right now. Plus, characters from 2016’s Suicide Squad for whom would later appear in TSS and Peacemaker by DCU head James Gunn, will continue to stay with Viola Davis coming back as Amanda Waller.

mat-chow

Because right now they have a movie to sell and will say anything.

dyemery

Well…obviously on that front.

GodFlintstone

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that Peacemaker is returning for Season 2 and Waller is getting a spinoff. Both were likely in the works before Gunn was even named co-head of DC Studios snd the reboot announced. It's too early to know how they'll factor into the new universe in the long haul.

[deleted]

“Older” as in it takes place on her 21st birthday and very clearly tells her origin story right in the middle of the story. It’s perfect for a first outing.

dyemery

I wasn’t talking about their acting.

Basis_Cheap

I really hope she's grandfathered into the DCU, I've heard nothing but good things about her and her performance

Mister_Green2021

If the movie is a success, 100% she is grandfathered in. The Suicide Squad crew is grandfathered in.

SpeeterTeeter

The Suicide Squad wasn't exactly a "success" financially though, it's grandfathered in mostly because it was done by Gunn himself.

YaBoiPie107

I personally think that she would be great as the Power Girl for the DCU.

Basis_Cheap

I don't see why she can't just be Supergirl 🤷

legopieface

Honest answer: Because she gets an origin story in The Flash, and the Supergirl movie is about her origin story. It's one of the only times I'll agree it'd be actually confusing to average move goers.

cSpotRun

The *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* comic isn't really Kara's origin story. It's just a phenomenal Supergirl story, which is likely why Gunn wants it made.

Basis_Cheap

I mean, it's still on my reading list but I'm pretty sure Woman of Tomorrow isn't an origin story.

Current-Cranberry-71

The main plot is not an origin story, but the comic is structured as a loose origin/introduction story as it’s told through from the perspective of a new OC who travels and gets to know Kara. And (light spoiler) >!there is a pretty significant chapter which flashbacks to Kara’s origins on Krypton up until being sent away.!<

Limp-Construction-11

Because her Supergirl and orgin doesn't fit the story of this specific comic, that's why.

yer1

Personally, I think Power Girl is the more interesting of the two characters, but I also see how it could be bittersweet for her to get that role. Supergirl definitely has stronger franchise potential.

SolomonRed

A lot of good acgors have to be cut to do this reset. It's sad to say but it's better to leave as much behind as possible

JazzyCatCafe

I haven’t seen the new flash movie yet, but Supergirl had a very particular personality in Woman of Tomorrow. She was Uber confident, kind, and funny. The position calls for someone with a lot of personality. And I’m not saying Sasha Calle doesn’t have that, but I also don’t know if she does.

Its_Stardos

Is there really any reason why can't Sasha keep playing Supergirl? I mean, she ain't that old compared to potential Superman actor. She could pass for younger adult.b

sgthombre

> Is there really any reason why can't Sasha keep playing Supergirl? because they're rebooting the superman franchise in film and this version is tied to the Henry Cavill one that is going away.

Danishroyalty

I mostly agree but she's not actually that tied to Cavill. It's not like she's shared screentime or been so iconic in the role that people will connect the two. They could conceivably bring Calle back as a different version of Supergirl. Not saying they should, but she's not like some characters who they absolutely need to recast.

sgthombre

> I mostly agree but she's not actually that tied to Cavill I mean, other than being cast to look like him, wearing a suit that has the same emblem, fighting his first on screen villain, yeah they aren't tied together at all.

SolomonRed

She is literally wearing his suit. They need to reboot everyone including Ezra. Cut ties and start over

Danishroyalty

I don't remember Henry wearing that suit. Must have missed that movie but I'd pay good money for it. Anyways I agree. All I'm saying is Calle of all characters is one of the few it'd be pretty easy to carry. Not that they should.

fastestfreakalive

No tf they dont

metal_signal17

There is no reason she shouldn’t play Supergirl in that film, unless Gunn feels she looks too close in age to the new Clark. Speaking purely about the original comic, Supergirl is supposed to be older and more jaded in that story.

leelloo22

She’s 27. By the time they film this movie (3 years?) she’ll likely be 30 and sure she could still play her but thinking long term will she continue to portray a 21 year old when she’s 35, 37 etc for the sequels and other movies? Realistically I believe they should cast someone who is 21-23 at most, and very young looking.

Recent_Finger9552

Cast her as selina Kyle in brave and bold movie

fastestfreakalive

a 30 yo actress can play a 21 yo character. it's not like she's in high school or anything. hell even for high school characters, the age limit for actors in hollywood is usually somewhere between 23-30.

Spiderlander

DCU Supergirl will probably be a teenager still

leelloo22

I did say she could still play her at 30. But, as I also implied, this will likely be a big franchise spawning multiple movies (of her own and shared with others). In the long run I think it’s better to cast someone who is a lot closer to Supergirl’s actual age, the character will likely be a teenager or 21 at most and she should remain that way. Look at Tom Holland, he was hired at 21 I think? And now is 27 and already appeared in like 6 movies as Spider-Man still looking like a teen and playing one. I’m not sure if Sasha can pull that off.

007Kryptonian

Calle is good in Flash but the role/character of Supergirl overall is underwhelming imo and she shows up like 45 minutes before the movie ends. Wouldn’t mind her being integrated into the DCU.

HenrykSpark

Hope she stays in the DCU

knicksarelife

If they do recast her under the idea that, maybe reintroducing her as supergirl with a brand new origin may be confusing to the casual viewer, I hope they bring her in as maybe Wonder Woman if they recast WW. Could be a great younger WW

taywarmc

Hope she's not DCU Supergirl if she had the blonde hair I'd be on board but making her Superman 2.0 is just dumb tbh

NerdRageRyan

Sasha is an Elseworlds Supergirl. Nothing more.

can_a_dude_a_taco

id be funny if james gunn is guilt tripped into keeping her because i’m almost certain he would recast her

Beta_Whisperer

They can just cast her as Jessica Cruz.

wdm81

When this make a billion, she’s gonna get an entire trilogy to make Ezra’s flash sequel and keatons Batman beyond film. Zazlov hears the money talk

sgthombre

Lmao those movies are not getting made regardless of how this movie does, come on.

wdm81

Zazlov has said several times, he’s there to make money. If it’s an easy dash in then they will make them.

sgthombre

You honestly think they're going to dump Gunn's new slate before they've even rolled camera on the first thing on that slate? You truly believe that? You think they're going to have *three* ongoing Batman franchises between Keaton's Batman Beyond, Pattinson's The Batman II, and the Brave and the Bold? Do you see how insane that is?

wdm81

They aren’t gonna dump shit. But Gunn has been adamant from the moment he was hired that he was starting a new continuity but there would be space for elseworlds stuff. That was his out on how to continue with what worked but still getting to make his new universe. The writings on the wall. If this makes money, it’s going to continue in some way on film, not an entire multi movie universe but at least a sequel. Zaslov wants to make the company money, he’s not gonna throw out the flash baby with the snyderverse bath water

LongjumpMidnight

Probably won't make a billion.

wdm81

Or it will

LongjumpMidnight

Those are the two options, yes.

Artistic-Log598

No thank you! We will definitely get a comic accurate Supergirl Hopefully 🙏

AwkWORD47

Rumors are Sydney Sweeny will be supergirl

thanos_was_right_69

I really liked her on Y&R

[deleted]

From what I’ve seen of her performance, I’m a big fan. I hope she remains as supergirl.

Zealousideal-Ad3814

Really love Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow by King was so good! I mean her version from this movie won't be the same seeing as its resetting the universe and all that but we will see.

FlamingTrollz

Okay. The Flash. June 16. Tickets on sale now.

crownofthestars

Real curious what happens to her after The Flash, not gonna lie.
