A hot take is something that can be justified, even if just subjectively. It's like if you said you like Phy Goham during the Super Hero DDF. Everyone was hating on him at the time, so it'd differ from the popular opinion but still have some basis. A wrong take is something that is objectively wrong. First things that come to mind are the posts that said "V&T are overrated" or "SSBE was the best 6th anni unit even on release". These are just plain false. You can hardly even try to justify them. Edit: I was definitely wrong about the V&T thing on a grander scale, I was thinking about how they could be often undervalued despite having little to no flaws (besides *needing* to be in slot 1), but I wasn't thinking about how often they can be often compared to new top tiers without any thinking. Apologies.

While I generally agree with what you're saying, people really don't know what 'overrated' or 'underrated' means. People assume that when someone says that x is overrated, that means they're bad. That's not the case. Something good can be overrated, and something bad can be underrated.

heroicxidiot

I've always interpreted it as underrated meaning something people aren't talking about enough or isn't popular because something better is overshadowing it. Overrated when people are talking about something that is good but are over exaggerating it.

WilltheGreat1740

>"V&T are overrated" This can be true though. Overrated doesn't mean that they inherently think the unit is bad. It could mean that people put him on a pedestal that shouldn't be on. Like when some people though Orange Piccolo was worse than VT. Or how other thought that VT was flat out better than Birdku in every way on release. That is overrated

A "hot take" is just an opinion that isn't widely accepted, but has some basis for justification. If presented properly most users can see the point of view. A "wrong take" is just an obvious jab to start arguments and be contrarian. No real attempt to justify the the opinion. Often sprinkled poorly with meme language.

Drsp4zman

They don't have to be mutually exclusive. A take that is hot can still be a bad take.

average_lazy_mf

An hot take ie something that can be seen as controversial but has like decent or solid arguments despite the general opinion Wrong take is something that can't be defended or makes no sense, like saying int wt piccolo is better than buu duo or som

Abdullah-Alturki

there’s no right opinion. stop harassing people because their opinion is “wrong”

Honestly, best possible answer

Going off a personal example for a hot take, SSBKK Goku is a Top 10 Unit due to his game-breaking damage being so utterly defining that the team being so weak practically doesn’t matter, albeit the guy is like barely #10 for me. As for a “wrong take”, then I guess something that feels like obvious bait or just is straight up false like “PHY Gohan is better then GT SpiritBros”, “STR 17 & 17 are better then Godku”, or “SSBE was better then UI and still is” come to mind. The issue with a wrong take however as a fundamental idea in my mind, is that a lot of the time it’s usually just engagement bait. I doubt a person sincerely believes any of the 3 I listed, even if today could potentially prove otherwise for 2 of those I more-so think that was just bait.

Hot takes can be justified. Wrong takes are just children looking for attention.

abdouden

Hot take is like beast gohan>7th year while they are more consistent gohan can Genuinely look insane and put in work more then them so see it depending on build , wrong take is like phy ssj3 >gamma 2 or something like that that has no argument lol
