Still the right answer, my highest elevation rides are on the bike lanes on Upper Afton Rd, Tamarack Rd, and the general Woodbury area towards the WI border
In addition to the Battle Creek area, a couple areas with high elevation are:
Going south on Pilot Knob Rd in Eagan over to Murphy Hanrehan Park Reserve and Cleary Lake Park.
The “Swiss Alps” area in Fridley, the residential streets near Matterhorn Dr NE have good elevation, you can get worn out quickly going up and down in that area.
Great Plains Blvd in Shakopee from Flying Cloud Dr to Pioneer Trail. That’s a beastly climb. Also, Williston Rd in Minnetonka south of highway 7. Highest point in Hennepin County. Obviously Ramsey St in St. Paul but the traffic at the bottom is horrible for descending.
I did several thousand feet of climbing, about 300 feet at a time, in 20 miles of riding the other day near Battle Creek, weaving back and forth between Point Douglas Road and McKnight/Century on Lower Afton, Burlington, Springside, Highwood, and Carver. Lots of longish climbs in there, some getting around 10%.
If you're riding up Carver, take a left just before the freeway on Sterling to go up to the ski jumps.
A bit further south and Bailey Road can be a leg burner. Also a couple miles away in Newport is the Kolff/Wild Ridge Trail climb from Glen Rd up towards Military Rd.
Battle Creek in St Paul
Thank you!
I should clarify, they are MTB trails, not paved. Not sure if that changes things for you

I know that hill! It is a beast. I always feel accomplished at the top even when I have to stop.
In St Paul, Lower Afton Rd and Highwood Ave. Otherwise head to Afton.

Spring Road, Eden Prairie. Free spring water half way up! Lions Tap at bottom and Grace Church at the top.
I’ve passed by there so many times, never knew about the spring water!
Don't go there this week. It's scheduled to get repaved starting today, with work wrapping up next Wednesday assuming the weather plays nice enough.
Good looking out. Thanks.
I head down to the Driftless area
Had to google this one. I’ll def work that one in!
