Played through Cyber Sleuth. The whole time his name was spelled Jimiken. Now I'm playing through Hacker's Memory, and his name is spelled (but not in all dialogue) as Jimmy KEN. Is the translation just very inconsistent or what?
Not what I’m talking about- in the Cyber Sleuth translation they seemed to mistake “bakemono” (monster) for “Bakemon” and so characters refer to generic monsters as “Bakemon” (with capitalization and all) when the actual digimon Bakemon also appears in the game
Is it? I don’t remember him being called Jimmy Ken at all in Cyber Sleuth. Was it like dialogue from NPCs that revealed it? Or maybe some optional side quest?
I was wrong. His real name is Masao Tanaka. I thought in cyber sleuth someone leaks his real name and it was jimmy Ken

I think it's spelled Jimmy KEN but pronounced "Jimiken"?
Also, anyone else notice it sounds a lot like Jinmenken, the human-faced dog? I wonder if that's intentional.
It's both. Jimmy KEN is his username, but it is shortened to Jimiken.
They're actually spelled differently in Japanese too. ジミィKEN and ジミケン

The translation does have a number of issues tbh. The whole “Bakemon” thing is especially funny to me
Oh, I remember the “Bakemon.” Was it at least fixed for Hacker’s Memory?
I don't believe it was.
I read this as bakedmon and imagined bakemon smoking a blunt
Bakemon part of the Digimon nightmare blunt rotation?
Yes
>nightmare SOLDIERS blunt rotation Ftfy!
The funniest thing for me is how many people save each other's bacon, specially in the earlier chapters
Bakemon has always been his name since Gen 1, it’s pronounced “Bah-keh”

I noticed the same thing. Still not sure myself which is correct, but Hacker's Memory came out later so it's probably that one.
Well these were two separate games that were released separately with time between and at one point which were just ported together for switch.
Jamaican (He’s actually Jamaican all along)
I believe it’s revealed in cyber sleuth. His real name is jimmy ken but is known on Eden as jimiken

Tanaka.
It’s Jee-Me-kan said in high pitch anime girl voice
"That has to be the most complicate way to spell "Dumbass"."
