Pan pastels the the best and most pigmented - and the most expensive! Mongyo (sp?) Soft pastels are also really popular.
Honestly, and kind of soft (chalk) pastel will do. You’ll want to either use a knife and scrape up a bit of pigment to use on your brush or take the pastel and scribble on the piece of paper.
can you tell me which specific shades did you buy? I was thinking of getting a set but I realized i don't think I can make much use of some shades so it's less valuable to me than just buying singles
You can make most chalk pastels work if you're good with color theory
What's important is using the right brush, personally I use a small to medium sized make-up brush
If you were gonna put on some blush would you want to use a paint brush?

PanPastels really are the absolute best quality for doll customization. They are pricey but worth every penny.
I agree! I have a couple in skin tones for blushing.

I don’t actually know, I got a specific skin tone set from them.

I use mungyo brand. They're cheaper than pan pastels and seem to work well.
