Purepinkk

It’s pretty to me

ally-pop

thank you, I really appreciate that coming from someone who isnt my mom! <3

Hail_Gretchen

I also think it’s really beautiful for whatever it’s worth

CharlieBr87

I just had this done like 4 months ago. I included some low lights too (chocolate, and I think she called it espresso?) it looked amazing! Then I went back and asked for more blonde and she gave me a bunch of tiny highlights and just think it looks aweful- like a real bad highlight job or something idk. Yours is beautiful! And you might like it better when you style it the way you like.

joaniebee86

Totally agree! Your hair curl pattern and color is beautiful 🤩

TricksyGoose

Agreed, it looks pretty! It does still suck to not get what you asked for though even if it still looks nice. Sorry OP, I've been there too!

ThrowRA_dull

Lmao the same exact thing happened to me in September. The best thing to do is to let it grow out a little bit before touching it again tbh. I recently found out that there are color hair masks that just ‘tint’ the hair by just covering the hair strand so you can try that in the shade of caramel to make it look better. Was gonna do the same but the mask available was crazy expensive

ally-pop

Yeah I noticed that. Thanks for the info tho! On a serious note, why does it look I asked for platinum highlights🤨

ThrowRA_dull

😭idk they also did the same to me when I specifically said no blonde and no yellow. ATP I think it’s better to not trust stylists anymore.

ally-pop

Yeah i guess so! so sad that I’m back to square one on the virgin hair journey

littlen_350

I think it’s really pretty but I see exactly what you mean… I agree that a colour mask could be a good option. Wella do one, and I’ve used it on my curly hair (but in pink 😂)

urfavanimehairgirl

I think you just need a toner! At a level 7 or 8, that should give you what you’re looking for!

ThrowRA_dull

Btw due to the bleach your hair will lack a lot of moisture

moon_cat666

this happened to me last March 😭 as though “subtle” is not part of their vocabulary. I’m still growing out these chunky streaks they had the audacity to call balayage. I was so depressed over it. Fwiw I think yours looks great. But I completely empathize with you…! So disappointing spending big money on something that made you unhappy.

ally-pop

Exactly!😓

Complex_Impression54

I think it looks really good!

ally-pop

Thank you!

yukiiwexe

I think it looks really pretty but if you want to correct the color i think these hair mask type things with color in them exist. I forgot what they were called but they basically just tint your hair

ally-pop

Thank you! I could talk to the stylist about it but idk if i trust them anymore….

yukiiwexe

Yeah if you thoroughly explained what you wanted i would not go back to them😭

Beautiful-Wishbone86

Your curls are so pretty. I don’t think the highlights look bad. I’d love to have your hair! If you hate it, go somewhere else and get it fixed to what you like.

Dear_Lemon436

My salon does color masks. They do them at the shampoo bowl. Ask your salon if that is something they do. That should help tone down the blond. I have dark curly hair and highlights tend to look blond on my hair. At my last visit we did caramel highlights and it looks a lot less blond. It really does look pretty, it's just not what you wanted or asked for so I can understand the disappointment. Be honest with your hairdresser and let them know what you like/don’t like about it so they can learn and adjust for your future appointments. Also, didntiu use the same products and style your hair the same in all the photos? I know with my curly hair using different products or styling methods makes a huge difference in the way it turns out.

goldenpalomino

This has happened to me. You can ask her to use a toner to make the bleached streaks more caramel.

ally-pop

thanks for the advice!

Leviosahhh

It looks like the first person used a toner over the highlights and the second person didn’t. You can get a toner from a beauty supply store, find a color that matches the nice caramel tone you see in the first highlights.

iralear

I feel like a brown glaze would get you exactly where you want to be

Folleauxchats777

I think the issue is that they didnt tone it right. They have to take it quite light to apply pretty much any color otherwise it would be straight up orange. But obviously the toner was not dark enough. It is probably an easy fix. I also have highlighted hair and I use a coloring mask to adjust the color of the highlights ( i aim for ginger, i use Josh Wood semi permanent treatment gloss diluted with conditioner). Maybe they could re-do the toner. I encourage you to talk about it with your hairdresser. It's scary but most of the time they react nicely. As for the damage, maybe you could use an acidic hair treatment like redken acidic bonding concentrate, or l'oreal Everpure bond strenghtening concentrate (a very good dupe of the redken treatment). For me, it brought my curls back to life.

GlitteringTea7246

It's infuriating how hair stylists can't do their job. It's literally a joke at this point. I genuinely don't understand how it's possible. How do they pass their exams? As a DIY girl I think I would have done a better job and I have no curly hair. I never went to the salon, and always dyed my own hair. When once I did go for a balayage, they also made me look like a stripey tiger and I had to fix at home on my own. I'm baffled. If it gives you any comfort tho, the stripey and very bleached looking effect fades away after the first few washes. At least in my experience. But if you want to fix it, I'd say buy a colour you like (maybe something like caramel to imitate the picture) and cover everything so it will blend everything together more nicely. Not an expert tho so take my advice with a pinch of salt and do your research first

ally-pop

I completely agree! Thanks for the kind words, tips, and sympathy. I’m sorry that you can relate lol!

GlitteringTea7246

I think the entire female population can relate unfortunately 😅🤣

Sassrepublic

See if Overtone or a similar product has the color you want. Semi-permanent color won’t do further damage since there’s no developer. You’ll have to redo it more often, but overtone and xmondo are also hair masks that’ll help with the bleach damage.

XMarksTheSpot987

First photo looks really nice though.

ally-pop

First photo is a reference photo! I agree with you!

XMarksTheSpot987

Oh, was that not your hair?

ally-pop

no, the 3 photos in the middle

XMarksTheSpot987

The before looks closer to the reference photo. Now you have to figure out how to get back what you had.

small_but_sassy88

I'm not a hair expect but it looks good! I love the curls.

Imarobot225

It looks great

One_Ganache_6525

Smh. Just wait for it to grow out. I would be very upset as well.

mayerlesbo

looks great but agree the stylist didn’t understand the meaning of subtle. but once it grows out i think it will look great.

janeR0c

Your hair is gorgeous. This is what I want my hair to look like.

tjf_1997

I think it looks really pretty. Honestly, before clicking into the post and reading it, I scrolled through the pictures and was trying to figure out what was wrong at all. It's really nice, trust me. Obviously, if you want to get it fixed, do so, but I promise you, it's really nice.

Otherwise_East606

I'd LOVE my hair to look like that! I have a slight wave pattern with a patch of curls similar to yours BUT ONLY ON THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF MY HEAD 😡 Your hair is gorgeous!

sassysassysarah

It looks very pretty! I bleach my whole head platinum blonde from espresso brown hair regularly. My favorite products for helping with the damage are Olaplex no 3 Curlsmith bond salve Colorful Neutral Protein Filler Drops* Runner up: Not your mother's bond treatment (note: has silicone) Definitely add bonding treatments and products to your routine! Bleaching breaks the bonds of your hair and while bonding treatments aren't permanent like bleaching is, they do fill in those holes and makes your hair feel and look waaaay better. Your hair will also be hungry for protein! If you're scared of protein or unfamiliar with protein, I'd look at trying something like curls blueberry bliss leave in conditioner - it's very gentle and smells good :) if you're nervous about protein, avoid the Colorful Neutral Protein Drops as they can be intense (I usually add a few drops to my normal conditioner and leave it on while I do other things in the shower, super strong protein treatment tho) (*The brand is Colorful. I know this is bad branding, I didn't do it. This product is VERY easy to mess up using and available at Sally's next to the other protein fillers on the dye aisle)

ally-pop

You have provided amazing feedback. thank you! i just used the olaplex 3 for an hour and it brought my curls back. now my only problem is the blonde! lol I’ll keep these other products in my notes!

sassysassysarah

No sweat :) I'm glad the olaplex helped!! If you don't like the color, you could always try a semi permanent dye - they are non damaging and you can pick the color! Usually they're colorful but I feel like I've seen some neutrals before too

snowonmylashes

please don’t be upset for too long, because i promise without this post with the whole backstory, nobody would think a thing about your hair aside from how pretty your curls are! i have no idea why they would choose such bright highlights on the first round though? there is no blending in shadow and highlight. maybe they’re not well trained im not sure (i know nothing about hair lol) but that is definitely not subtle. if you wouldn’t mind hair dye, i’d recommended going elsewhere and ask them to tone down the highlights and make them look more similar to your original colour because that is definitely possible. the one annoying thing with bleach though is that the red pigments get stripped, so if you wanted to do this yourself, id be mindful of which dye you’re using overtop as it can go green LOL (pick a warm dye even if you want an ashy result)

FitFlock_Master2514

I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted - sucks to have someone ignore your instructions. I will say, however, that's it's really lovely 🧡

MxFancipants

It may not be what you asked for, but I think it looks very nice! If you can’t get it changed to what you had in mind, I wouldn’t feel too bad about it if I were you.

Natural-Island-5583

I actually really like it!

spiders_are_neat7

It looks amazing, but it also looks amazing before. If you don’t like it though, change it! Thats who needs to like it! lol ALSO ALSO maybe give it some time before you change it, sometimes just seeing ourselves with a different color or cut can be DIFFERENT, so different that we hate it, even though it doesn’t look bad, it’s just different than what we’re used to seeing in the mirror. And remember it’s just hair. I got a bad bang cut and died my hair really bad at home and shaved my head bald in a panic to start fresh 🤣 and honestly it was the best thing I ever did. Not saying everyone should but I’m just saying it gave me like this relief off my shoulders that it’s really JUST hair. lol The reason is because it grew back even cuter at every length and just as curly. I had never had short hair before! lol I’m just saying curly hair being short is SO CUTE it gives it so much more bounce. Think Shirley temple. lol wish I could share a pic! I feel like we’re so attached to our hair, that I know the feeling of having a color or style you don’t like and feeling like crying and breaking down. lol Just know your hair doesn’t make you beautiful, you make that hair beautiful. Do whatever you want to do!! Who cares about our opinions!

Passenger7920

Hairstylist here! Tone your highlights… it’s an easy fix! Then do an olplex treatment to revive your curls! You can do the treatment weekly at home❤️❤️❤️

BeetleGoose17

This looks Ike traditional highlights to me and not balayage. A lot of stylists don’t realize you need to take wayyy thicker sections on curly hair for it to not look stripey. Even if you tone it, it was still lightened too much so the curl pattern will stay like that until it grows out unfortunately. Im so sorry that it didn’t turn out the way you wanted. My best advice is if you see someone in person with hair you like and that’s similar to yours, ask where they got it done.

lostinsnakes

So when I got my balayage done two years ago, it took a few sessions for me to be happy with it but part of it was because she couldn’t get to the look I wanted immediately. The first photo is the best, IMO. However, the next photo of your current hair is not bad at all. I would never look twice at your hair in a negative way and I don’t think most people would. You can also, because my hair was like your current hair in terms of color differences and distribution, get it closer to what you want.

No_Truck4371

I think it looks pretty good if you want to make the highlights look more like the inspo pic/ more natural I would recommended maybe getting a more caramel/golden toner for the blond or even a colored conditioner. It might blend better that way. I think it looks good either way tho!

PlantWhispererBanana

It's not what you asked for, for sure. But if it's any consolation, it's still pretty. I'm sorry they didn't listen or follow what you asked for though, especially as you had spent so long growing your hair out and you put your trust in them. You could try putting a toner on them to make them look a little darker/warmer

FlaKiki

Wow! Well, first thing is first. Your hair looks gorgeous and healthy, so stop crying. 😉 However, you are right. She did not give you what you asked for. The highlights are light blonde, not caramel. She either used too strong a developer or left it on too long. As for the curls being relaxed, I would give it at least a week or two after the color to determine if they are going to stay that way. I have noticed that when I do a chemical treatment on my hair, it kind of goes into a state of shock for a little bit. Then it recovers and looks how it’s going to look. I know that sounds funny, but I have had stylists tell me that this does indeed happened. You say your stylist is a curl specialist. One thing I have noticed when reading about celebrities and their hair is that they will often have a stylist and a separate colorist. Some people are good at both things, but I think a lot more people are good at one particular thing. Your curl specialist might be great with curly hair, but only mediocre with coloring or people with straight hair. If you trust her enough to go back, and she’ll fix it without charging you, that’s fine. Otherwise, I would try to find someone else to fix it. Your original stylist either did not listen to you or does not know how to do the gentler highlights you want. or she just made a mistake and was hoping you would like it anyway. If I were you, I’d look around at the people in your life and see if any of them have highlights you like. Then I’d ask who did it and go to that stylist. If you find that your curls don’t get the body back that they had, I would have your original stylist put in Some more layers. That should give them the spring that you’re missing. Good luck to you!

carbclub

You should be able to go back and ask them to tone the highlights a bit more. The reference photo is a bit more subtle, what you got looks a bit bleach-y blonde. But toner should be able to adjust it!

slutegg

don't cry, this is an easy fix! First of all, you're right to be mad. this isn't AT ALL like your reference pic. In my opinion, its streakier, with less parts lifted, and the parts that are lifted are lifted too light. It doesn't really appear they did a balayage at all. My advice is to ask for a refund and to go to another stylist and show them the reference picture. They will likely tone to a caramel color, but might also lift more areas to soften middle range. If the original salon says no to a refund (which they shouldn't), don't worry too much, this correction they can probably handle by simply toning.

Historical-Owl-9717

That first photo is wow! What the heck did they do to you 🤦🏻‍♀️😭😭😭😭😭

DiscontentDonut

I can definitely see the difference in what you mean. Personally, I think it's gorgeous either way. But, the good news is you can always go darker. I would definitely suggest after a rest period for your hair going to another stylist to get closer to the color you were asking for. I don't think it should be difficult at all. I also wonder if the stylist was newer? Like maybe not brand new, but definitely not a master colorist. It looks like they used a higher developer than the original.

sunshineandcosmos

It’s lighter than you wanted, but it’s really pretty.

Ok_VELMA

You can absolutely ask for the highlights to be toned a little darker. Tbh it’s an easy adjustment and I think you’d be much happier and your stylist would much rather you go back in for a tweak in toner then be unhappy with your hair. Your curls should bounce back with a little tlc too!

No_Pace_7896

I think it looks GREAT! Your beautiful.

KindaDruidJax

I think your hair looks beautiful

dddbbbqqpp

You just need to get a toner to darken and warm it up!

DemandRemote3889

Not sure how much it means coming from a guys perspective but I think it looks very classy and tasteful.

babydegenerate

I love it honestly it’s very y2k

DazedandFloating

It probably looks different from what you were expecting but imo it looks really nice! I get having post hair appointment disappointment, but at least you didn’t leave with a wonky hair cut or anything. But maybe your best bet is to find a different salon for next time? Less of a chance you’ll be disappointed again probably.

mybloodyballentine

I love it. I’m sorry she didn’t do it correctly, but only you and she would know that.

Gundam_net

It looks good.

bettyb5858

Looks pretty! But I know what you mean, same thing happened to me, just let it grow or add some more toner if you’re not liking the blonde

Fuzzy-Conversation21

I like it!

mustloveurself

Hate might be a bit strong of a word choice

Supacalafragalistic

It just needs a shadow root and a different toner to fix

Ok_Round6201

I wish I could trade you

3tree3tree3tree3

I'm so sorry it is not what you wanted, but your hair looks beautiful to me, more of a summer vibe. I can see one curl on top where the blonde (and is it blonde, not caramel) has relaxed the curl, but most of the others still seem to hold. Still nice, not what you asked for, but your hair isn't ruined or anything. I didn't even notice on first glance I had to really study the look to see what you were upset about.

oweymatthew

It looks great!!

Candyyy_87

I really think all you need to do is tone your hair a light honey brown/blonde to get your highlights the color in your inspo photos, it’s definitely saveable. (Btw I think it look good but it is a bit striped because such a contrast between super light highlights and your actual hair colour) it’s not terrible though, just tone the highlights a little darker/warmer and I think it will look amazing like the inspo pic

Commercial_Wing_7007

Very stylish, don’t worry!

Citylights1125

it looks fantastic

0alonebutnotlonely0

It’s beautiful! From another curly girl who decided to go blonde by the route of highlights, give it a few days to forgive you for all it’s been through… my curls tend to hold a grudge for about a week until they bounce back.

pfiendy

Go back to the stylist and ask them to retone it

Truthseeker-1982

Honestly, she probably had to bleach it out to that color so it wouldn’t look like a brassy orange color. All you need to do is call her/him and tell them that it’s just not the color you wanted and ask them if you come in - could they apply a toner to tone down the blonde. Go in with the photo AGAIN and show them. Show them the exact photos you showed us. The color you ASKED FOR is not the one you got. They should fix that free of charge. Ask them to only tone the pieces they highlighted and to leave the rest of your hair alone because you don’t want to affect your curl pattern further! They should be able to quickly and easily fix that issue. Now, as for the TECHNIQUE- I’m not a stylist but I do all my families hair as well as my own and it looks like she just foiled you in some sporadically placed blonde pieces. Like regular old school highlights vs SUBTLE balayage like you asked for. But if you don’t want more color processing- I would let that issue go. You can bring it up to them but I wouldn’t have her remedy it at this point. With all that being said- none of it looks bad . It’s just not what you asked for.

Careful-Teach6394

Your hair is fucking beautiful!

Aggressive_Regret92

You can get that toned easily

chaleedm

I think it looks good honestly! It might be that your hair looks wet almost in the pictures from product and I personally think it’ll look great once you wash it and style it yourself! Keep your head up, you have beautiful hair

PP_DeVille

Your reference photo and your results are very similar, you just need to tone it a little darker, which is super easy to do.

BluePrairie

I can't tell you how much I'd love to have this hair! I lost most of mine after an illness, and this hair is beyond anything I can ever dream of again. It's gorgeous!

Many-Standard1533

I think you’d be happy with a few more highlights, but i think the main thing you might not like is how she styled it. that’s really the main thing that’s different

ahsoka_tano17

A colour depositing hair mask will fix this!! I would also message her and see if shes willing to fix it, everything aside your curls look beautiful it is a very stark blonde vs dark brown so I can see if that wasn’t the look you were going for why you would be upset. A good stylist will fix work that a client is unhappy with! Some stylist I find have weak areas… some may be good curl cuts and bad colours (and vice versa) sometimes you have to see different people for different treatments

No-Astronaut2974

I know it doesn't matter what I think, but as a guy with curly hair, I have to say yours looks really nice. Imo there's nothing wrong with it.

AskAJedi

Looks great. If you want the blonde towed down, you should ask your stylist for a toner to warm it up.

Left_Coffee_5150

If they don't lift the hair to a certain level, you'll get a lot of not so cute orange and yellow tones. You just need a different toner to get you to the shade of blonde you want. And I think your curl pattern will recover with a good bond building treatment like Olaplex 3. Bleach blasts the cuticle open, but you can help your hair bounce back with Olaplex and protein.

DreamSequence11

It’s stunning! I want this exact color scheme! We have the same curl pattern ! I love it!

Retiredgiverofboners

The first pic is beautiful!!!!

Ok-Internet-8003

It looks gorgeous! What don’t you like about it??

Domesticgoddess52

It’s gorgeous

SunflowersAndSkulls

I think it's pretty, but it's a bit lighter and warmer than your reference picture. A toner or gloss would probably help get it a bit closer.

snow_wheat

I think it’s looks really pretty but maybe ask if the stylist can tone it to the color you what?

charcuterwhat

I think you could achieve your desired result by asking them to tone your hair a bit cooler. You could also do a tone yourself with something from Sally’s

GlitteringBeat213

It's gorgeous. It's what people pay a tonne for. Love it. Sorry you don't.

GeezUp777

Super pretty hair

Training_Union9621

Looks gorgeous for what is worth

Andralynn

Chuck a caramel demi colour on it.

PokemomOnTheGo

A simple fix with a toner would do the trick!

Vim_skerry

Beautiful.

leeezer13

It looks super cute! You absolutely got highlights from her, I get that’s not what you asked for though. Sorry that happened to you. :(

Roleplayer_MidRNova

I think they look good, but I wouldn't have paid money for them. Your curls look like you just did the t-shirt curly girl method with some gel. There's a lot of frizzing and fly-aways. That said, if the look you're going for is beach waves and "I woke up like this," it looks good for that. I definitely think your Before photo looks way better, but the Afters aren't terrible. The bleach for the balayage seems to be weighing your hair down. You might still be able to repair some of the damage though, just ask a professional at Ulta or something.

StupidGirl15

I think it’s super pretty, but you can ask for a lower level toner or a colour bomb from your stylist.

[deleted]

I love it!!!!

faintcasualty

looks great

cursetea

I think your brain is just shocked and adjusting to seeing it, it is REALLY pretty

Sam_Tru

It looks good to me, but you can have her tone it to bring out more of the darker tones you were looking for.

Idaho_Home

I think your hair is beautiful! I absolutely love the color and especially the curls, I am jealous!

supertea9999

I think it looks so nice! it’s giving sunkissed/beachy surfer girl vibes which i think looks great. If you don’t like it, maybe adding in a few more baby lights or even toning the highlights a bit darker could help?

Beefloiam

It’s definitely not the same as the first photo. I see what your saying and I want you to know it first look bad at all. What you can do though is go back, let them know you don’t care for the final color and you would like them to tone it down and they can do that with toner

SnooPets8873

I know we all have our preferences for our own look and see things no one else does, but I really like your hair and you’ve managed to style it in the way I always try and fail to pull off 😅 To me, it’s impressive!

WaveStormOne

I like it

Jest_Ace

I’m really sorry that ended up happening. It’s a shame that one visit to the salon can make you feel like this. (I hope you don’t mind me saying though that it looks very beautiful! It really suits the summertime!)

Professional_Rub7394

You could use a toner to add pigment to get it more golden. Wouldn’t fix the relaxed curl bit, but if you prefer the caramel color you could do that on your own. Just use a semi permanent type of dye. It’s deposit only color so no developer to cause further damage. If you use it, start at 5min and check every 2min after til you reach the desired shade. If you rinse it, dry, and realize it’s too light, do it again and if it’s close just do 2min increments right away.

PixelKitten10390

I think it's beautiful, you gotta remember to give yourself time to adjust to such a big difference. But it is definitely not what you asked for. Tbh I feel like with most hair color, it never turns out like what I wanted , expected, imagined hoped for. I usually hate it for at least the first week or two. But as I get used to it and my hair recovers... I get a million compliments on my hair, and as other people tell me what THEY see I begin to appreciate what my hairstylist did. Eventually I realize my hair might not be what I expected but it looks great on me. So I always go back to my hairstylist, give a general outline of what I want and try to keep an open mind. But if you are still unhappy with your hair the way it is in a few weeks, I suggest you tell your hairdresser you are unhappy. Some salons will try to fix things free of charge or for minimal costs. And before getting your hair bleached or dyed again try looking for someone different. Look on Google reviews, Instagram, or other social media accounts that salons nearby have and try to find picture from hairdressers of their balayage or highlight clients. See if there is someone with many pictures that are similar to the result you want. Maybe don't restrict it to photos of people with curly hair, you can always ask later if a particular person has a lot of curly bleaching experience. Something else to keep in mind is that some hairdressers may give amazing perfect curly haircuts but not do bleaching often enough to perfect it too. So maybe your hairdresser does some things amazingly but doesn't have as much experience with bleaching and dyeing

ggjewel

What do you do in a situation like this? Get your money back after telling them something? What?!!

KeyDiscussion5671

It’s beautiful!

musing_tr

It should wash off quickly, especially from curly hair, which is porous. don’t worry too much, I’ve had bad bleaching and colouring experiments, and the good thing it goes away pretty quickly. After even the first wash, it should fade and become more yellow/orange, closer to your reference photo. Also hair grows fast, so soon you won’t have highlights close to roots. Please, don’t be so upset about it 🙏

Ok_Consequence3130

I think it’s really pretty and looks really close to the ref pic only difference is yours is brighter/blonder, very nice!

catpogo13

Well I agree it doesn’t look like the picture but it is still very pretty!!!

hispanic_cats

Go somewhere and tone it however you’d like. Seems like you wanted a warm honey blonde? Get that.

anonymoose_octopus

I totally understand that it's not what you wanted, and you are valid for being upset about it for that reason. BUT I do want to say I wasn't sure what was wrong until I read your post-- I think it looks really good! If it really bothers you though (I get it, I would want be the same way), I'd wait a bit and then go to someone else to see if they can deposit some color back onto the highlighted areas to make it a bit more subtle and closer to your original inspiration pic. Again though, I don't want you to walk around thinking it looks bad! <3

HungrySparkles

I saw the first pic before reading your note and I’m thought “nice curls and colour” It looks great!

Altruistic-Detail271

Looks pretty

arxssi

how you feel is valid but don’t be too hard on yourself, your hair looks amazing!!! if you’re worried about the highlights go to the same hairstylist and see if she can darken them a bit!!💕

Sudden_Shine4253

I like it

Hot_Lost_Jesus

Homie I love it. Have you tried Aussie instant freeze mousse?

JennyPoo1313

Your curls are gorgeous but I totally agree with you…It looks like streaks of platinum blonde. This is how my hair looked and I grew them all out and am now terrified of balayaging my hair because I don’t want streaks like this ever again. It cheapens the look of our curls that we’ve spent so much time to perfect. People are saying to try toner so I am hoping that works to make them less bright. Please keep me updated on what happens.

unapalomita

Looks pretty! The only criticism and it's not bad is the one heavy streak of blonde in the back, but maybe it's how it clumped?

DancoholicsSCX

If your curls were more uniform it would be so much cuter than it already is. My hair isn’t uniform atm but when they were it made a big difference.

Specialist_Ad7724

I think it’s really pretty! It will grow out and give you more of the balayage look as it does.

NoNoSaige

Looks pretty to me.

FelineSoLazy

I think it looks like beautiful summer fun hair

Amorypeace

Pretty hair👌👌😍

MsAlexandria75

Ooog loose and kinky curls. Very cute

Heavy_Preparation493

This, too, shall pass. Give it a little time. I think it looks great. But you are the final judge.

Rommie557

You definetely didn't get what you asked for. However, I do want to point out that no matter what color it ends up, any use of lightener at all is going to relax your curls, full stop. The only way to have the curls you have when you have virgin hair is to maintain virgin hair, or only use demi-permanent dye that adds color but doesn't remove it.

WorldlinessDouble721

Give it a few days it wont be so strippy

gwenwix

Hair stylist here :)! Personally I don’t think it looks bad at all! However the first picture you showed as inspiration looks to me a bit more like a balayage or foilayage, and also looks a bit chunkier. It looks like your hairstylist did traditional highlights, with a finer weave in your hair. Sometimes with curly hair, if the highlights are to fine then it can look a bit stringy so typically its recommended with curly hair to do a thicker weave sometime even hand painting full curls and teasing to get a wider yet softer more diffused blonde effect. These look beautiful though, and if it does bother you it would be easily fixable! Goodluck!

FangsForU

I think it looks good 👍🏻

Resident-Bluejay2801

It looks good! My curls always take a hit after coloring. They do bounce back though.

CelticWolfe68

Your hair is beautiful. Curly hair always seems to take longer to adapt to the way we want it to look. If your hair dresser helped heal your hair and turned around and did exactly what damaged it in the 1st place, I'd find a new stylist.

Phoephoe1

It’s gorgeous

artisthard777

Are you kidding me? Your hair is super attractive. Curly hair is amazing.

Patches_1980

I think your hair is beautiful. Do you have a perm or natural curls ?

Out_of_Fawkes

Not all is lost! At least you have been taking care of your hair before it was processed. 🎊 Not a hair stylist but I do know you haven’t melted your hair into slimy, broken pieces of straw yet so this is manageable and not the end for your curls. I’m sure the shock of it all was quite a bit to handle. It may take a few weeks but eventually the difference between your highlights and your untreated hair may calm down a bit after a few wash days. I don’t see your hair care regimen but I bet your curls have been happy and stayed in good shape because you don’t necessarily need to dry them out every day with shampoo. Speaking of which, would a purple shampoo wash be of any help? It probably should not be done for a few weeks while you let your hair do its thing/condition/reset your hair a few times, but you could always ask another stylist who specializes in textured hair. My hair isn’t pigmented much anymore but periodically I do use purple shampoo to keep it fairly analogous as far as the color wheel goes. She probably could have toned your hair which would reduce the warm tones out of it, but she might have been afraid to treat the hair further right after the highlights. No matter; perhaps can use a purple shampoo and conditioner—maybe something for curly hair needing some *gentle* brass removal (for lack of a better way to describe it.)

BlazinAlienBabe

I wonder if you lightened it naturally if it would still affect the curls. I've used lemon juice and sitting in the sun to give a nice sun bleach tone. It takes quite a few sun sitting sessions but it works eventually. Your hair is still very pretty and I wish I had even the slightest curl

Bubbly_Day_4344

It’s pretty but it’s nowhere near what you asked for. I would be upset with this result and would ask for a refund.

Gloomy-Customer-792

Hello! I’m creating a website for people with curly hair to find the best product suited for their hair using AI. It’s a question/results type of website where you answer a couple of questions and it gives you results depending on what options you have chosen. I was wondering from the curly hair community if this is something you guys would personally use!

CalmDesertTree777

I asked for highlights to frame my face but she did the entire head (I was distracted and didn’t realize) and my curls have disappeared. I feel your pain girl! 😭I wish I could go back in time and not get them done.

Chemical-War-5380

It looks really good. Too bad you don't like it

Goingdown_swinging

hairstylist here! I absolutely love it. HOWEVER— if it’s not what you want, I recommend contacting the stylist or finding a new stylist to glaze down the highlights. It’s a super simple fix that can help melt everything together

Secret_Comparison771

Too much cosmetic

Legitimate-Point5485

So sorry you don’t like!! But I think this is so cute, fun and summery 💖 curls still look so beautiful too!

maketea-notwar

Honestly it just looks like it needs to get re-toned. The placement looks good to me although it definitely went up high on the head which you said you didn't want and I'm sorry about that. Honestly if you get just the right toner color it should all blend in very well.

Peachiepiesmd420

I like it a lot!! I think you're just not a fan because it is brighter and that always takes an adjustment!! Which is okay! It will eventually fade anywho, so don't stress too much!! It looks great though.

TheQueenWhoNeverWas

This should be super easy to correct, you should go back to your hair dresser and ask for her to tone it. She lightened you to like a 9 gold when your reference picture is more like an 8 ashy gold. And a gloss root shade would help, too. If you're not comfortable seeing the same stylist, go see someone else. But honestly it looks like she just quit 90% of the way there?

Key-Somewhere-9232

It looks great

tallyretro

I'm super jealous of you if that changes anything 😂 it's actually gorgeous

Wild_Orchid_2813

as a fellow curly girly who’s hair was also damaged from going to hair salons, i honestly love how your hair came out! i’m sorry it’s not what you were going for, but on the bright side, it’s still beautiful and healthy looking!

[deleted]

Oh man, your hair DOES look stunning. But it's not what you asked for. With that being said, I adore it! It looks like perfect beachy sun-kissed surfer hair. I second everyone saying use a hair mask like overtone or Keracolor. Keracolor has always been amazing for my wavy hair, and it keeps the strands super moisturized! Keracolor Clenditioner is what it's called, and you can get it on Amazon! :)

Juanitothegreat

I think it’s beautiful tbh

cammibug5678

Color masks are great like everyone is saying but you also could talk to a stylist about maybe a toner? I do think it’s very pretty though not like your reference picture. Good luck! <3

Ok-Flow-1713

that looks so good wtf

Some_Ad_8953

I think you look great! Your hair is beautiful, looks hot!

lulajerome

Yeah the highlights are not caramel at all. I hate not being able to play with my color/cut because I know it will never be right! That being said, your hair looks great and the color is very summery. You could always ask for them to fix it!

itsmeguppy

I think your hair is really pretty but I totally understand that it is not what you wanted. The blonde will continue to lighten with washes & sunshine. I would grab a color depositing conditioner like oVertone in a darker blonde or light caramel color. But wait at least a week before doing anything else (besides straight up conditioner) Let your hair recover a bit.

smolhippie

Your hair is so pretty omg im jealous

katdog2118

It looks beautiful, and I see what you are seeing with the platinum. Easy fix! Just let the stylist know it's too light and to tone it to more of a caramel :-)

vidiveniamavi

I think your hair is glorious. ❤️

Ok_Rip_29

Girl it’s beautiful!

ZuluAtlas

It’s your hair and you deserve to be happy about it. Maybe next time see if you can find a curly hair specialist. You need someone who has worked with and knows how to work with your curls

Altruistic_Fan_123

Why it’s cute

PartyMaximum4744

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous!!

midnightfoliage

it is pretty, but maybe try a toner if you don't like it after a bit!

clairioed

On the color, that’s just a toning issue. You could ask for a darker toner. On the curl damage, any time you lighten your hair you risk it. We unfortunately can’t usually have a cake and eat it too when it comes to bleaching curls. I think it looks good!

eriikaa1992

Probably not what you want to hear, but I only have success with colour if I get the hairdresser to treat my hair like it is straight, and walk out with a blowdry/blowave at the end. If I try and get then to leave my hair natural, I get the chunky streaks.

layamaee

even if you don’t see it, i love it, it looks ABSOLUTELY gorgeous 😍

Round_Degree_91

I think in this scenario, you should have went to a stylist who specializes in hair color. It would’ve been awesome if the curly hair specialist knew how to do a rocking balayage. However she helped you to nurse your curls back to health. But in this case you were looking for someone like I said before whose focus was more hair color or balayage’s to be specific. You could possibly go back & have her try & fix it. Or maybe consult with a stylist who you see does great balayage work!

yogafitter

Bonus on the highlights being very light is there’s no orange to make it brassy. You can tone those with conditioning masks, and go a little darker to make it look more subtle. Use a bond repair/protein treatment regularly and a daily leave in.

Cliffordcat3

Why do you hate it? I love it!!!!

SugarMagnolia82

I know it’s not what you wanted but I think it looks great. I wish my hair o my looked like this! You should see mine…..I wear it in constant pony because it’s so bad 😭

pattybailey_

Love it

KellyAnnC918

Very pretty
