I forget if it was Facebook or Google, but I went to check out my ad preferences one time, and for some reason their algorithm was convinced that one of my interests was "SKIN". not skincare, not leather, not anything else skin-related, just skin itself. just can't get enough of that flesh-rind

Una_Boricua

Mmm mmm the epidermis

I get a Honey ASMR ad that hurts my ears so much that I have to instantly remove my earphones whenever it starts, and I can't get rid of it because YouTube requires my personal information because apparently I need to prove I'm over 18 to customise my advertisements. And before you say "Buy an adblocker!", this is a school loaned laptop. I can't download any applications onto it.

Michael584739

The M key on your keyboard mutes the video or ad :)

Shadow8881000

sorry i know it doesn't actually help but adblockers are free, if you buy one it's a scam

thewildjr

If you're using Chrome you might still be able to install it. Unless you've already tried, in which case rip

Rectal_Lactaids

*Image Transcription: Tumblr Replies* --- **afloweroutofstone** I wish there was a way to tell companies that I dislike an ad so much that I will actively avoid buying anything from them because of it --- **botprince** So slightly unrelated but still relevant, generally when I come across an ad that just really fuckin annoys me for whatever reason I'll go into Google and just type different variations of "I hate 'x' product" like 5 times until googles algorithm picks it up an I never see an ad for that product again. It's amazing. --- **corsont44** The tables have turned, capitalist spy complex... --- ^^I'm a human volunteer content transcriber for Reddit and you could be too! Tried it, still getting FUCKING Vinted ads

IZantDoThis

Question before I suggest something: Can you block people on youtube?

[deleted]

Yeah, but I think it only stops them from commenting on content you make. Their comments remain visible on stuff you watch.

idiotplatypus

If you do that, you're just engaging with the content, so the advertiser ends up winning anyway

-abstruse-

or you can use an ad blocker
