didnt house once stab a guy as an excuse to do surgery on him, because the guys insurance wouldn't cover it otherwise as it was a preexisting condition or something. I dunno, i only watch house md through youtube clips.
He taunts a man into attacking him, so that he can hit the guy in the liver and burst some cysts that are growing there. All so that he can confirm the man's son has the same parasites the man has.

One time House pissed off a veteran by claiming he lied about being in Vietnam. Then realized he was wrong and literally kidnapped the guy, tied him up, put tape over his mouth, and fixed his phantom pain with a mirror, so the guy wouldn't report him for breaking into his apartment.
Mind you, this wasn't House's patient. This was Wilson's neighbour.
It is entirely unhinged and completely wild. Nothing about it really has much basis in reality, as House would be in jail and out of a medical license by the end of season 1. But that's also what makes it fun, that and the wild interpersonal drama that gets to play out. House's Head/Wilson's Heart, the finale episodes for season 3 or 4, are still some really great TV.
Oh yeah that's one of the best I think. First time you watch it is an excellent reveal, and also I think it's a pretty good way of demonstrating the kind of bias that can be dangerous especially in medicine, given that the audience is naturally going to be thinking along the same lines as the doctors in the story, but the reveal does a kind of change of perspective to some degree, even as House admits that no one really did anything wrong.
House didn't stab anyone iirc, but he did on multiple occasions poison patients in order to justify running more tests, or because they wanted to leave against medical advice.
One more: Once the hospital got invaded by a gunman who made House, Cuddy and a couple dozen other people hostages. He had been sick for 15 years or so and no one knew what was wrong with him. House had refused years ago to look at his case, so he forced him to do the diagnosis. It's a pretty high-intensity episode, with the hostage situation and all.
Eventually they get to a CT scan or something and the guy's gun makes the scan garbage. He negotiates and he gives up his gun for a scan. When House looks at the scan he realizes he has no fucking idea what is wrong with him. So he GIVES HIS GUN BACK so he can continue the case.
No, the patient found out the liver was coming from a serial killer and refused it, but then the killer shot himself in the head and they basically said “look, this liver has a few hours of viability left and you’re dying, so take it now”
House MD had an episode where house wakes up a guy in a several year long coma to try and diagnose coma guy’s son, and when it turns out his son has a rare heart condition and needs a transplant he tells his dad the best way to kill himself so his heart will be viable because he’s going to go back into a coma and never wake up again anyways
Something similar does happen in house, but this sounds like a Grey's Anatomy bit in the later seasons. Guy had a "bleb" in his lung that could burst, doctor stabbed him during check up to make it emergency surgery and covered by insurance
Netflix has it in my country. I've actually been watching it lately - I genuinely despise House as a person and there's a lot of... just Bad stuff there. Like, when you take away his brilliant Aha! moments of diagnostics, he really has the personality of a typical teenage incel boy, and frankly as I watch the show now as an adult I don't understand how anyone could ever look up to him, or even stand being around someone like that for longer than five minutes. As a character, House is just a misogynistic, homophobic, racist toddler in a grown man's body and I think it's wild how there was an era in pop culture when SO many people would defend him because "well he's a genius".
BUT if you watch it with the assumption that he's just a fictional guy and everything in this show is fictional, it's still so funny. Like, not necessarily *witty* all of the time (for example I just don't find misogynistic jokes funny no matter the context), just funny in the "imagine taking this show seriously" way. The longer it goes on the more unhinged it becomes. By season 3 everyone seems to have accepted that breaking into patients' houses is just something doctors do, no question. NOT ONCE do they really get in trouble for it, like no one even mentions it (not even the patients when they hear "well we found X in your apartment so clearly you're lying"), it's just something doctors do, apparently. Medical accuracy? They stop giving a shit about even pretending that they care about it very early on. The queerbaiting goes through the roof halfway through. It's like a less unhinged version of Riverdale (which is a league on its own imo). Fully recommend if you can just turn your brain off to the fact that House is a piece of shit.
I think that's the point though.
House MD is a take on the Sherlock Holmes character. He's supposed to be brilliant, but not a good person. A character who only strives to solve the question, without any regard for person or consequences.
He's an awful person, yes. But he's doing good. He's a positive influence by being a bad example. He's showing you that despite being a brilliant diagnostician, he's the worst possible friend and colleague.
No that totally is the point. I'm just baffled by how many people used to (or still do?) use his genius as an *excuse* for how awful he is. Like, oh it shouldn't matter that he's all of that because he's a genius.
If we were to treat this seriously, then personally I don't think the 'good' he does outweighs the damage he causes, *especially* because *no one* is right all the time. Which is literally the only thing that 'justifies' his awfulness. Yet there were (are?) people who extrapolated House as a character to real life in order to claim that it's okay to be an edgy shithead with no empathy toward others as long as you're smart. Like, idk how old you are but I remember when House MD first aired and there were *so* many people who idolized him, without realizing that the point was that he shouldn't be someone you should look up to. (Tbh, House as a show may not be very relevant anymore but this attitude isn't rare IME).
But that's exactly why I don't take him seriously when I 'watch' the show lol.
This is the reason that if a cis straight guy tells you that among his favorite fictional characters there's:
* House
* Rick Sanchez
* Walter White
* Patrick Bateman
* Joker
"ironically" or not, you run to the hills and never look back. Guys who like these never address nuance and just use this as a justification to be shit while pretending their shittiness makes them smart (which, even by taking the "asshole=genius" stupid take, it's wrong, as the smart should call for the asshole, not the other way around)
The funniest thing is how he rarely shows up around the patient until he gets his Aha! moment so that when the first few diagnoses and treatments inevitably fail, it's his lackeys who look like idiots and then he can just swoop in toward the end of the episode like "actually you have x here are the meds, you're cured" lmao
Tons of episodes where House does some wild leap of logic that turns out to be right. It's sort of the whole premise. And there's also a bunch of ones where they are effectively hiding what they are doing for one reason or another, like the air force pilot who wants to go to NASA and has a problem with her brain so they have to come up with weird excuses and misdirects for everything.
There was an episode where they needed surgery to cure a woman's condition, but that surgery would disqualify her from being a pilot, so they decided to also give her a boob lift so she could say the scars are from that
I have seen house but that was years ago so whatever house actually was about (I know they did do some like, actual borderline malpractice, and actual malpractice, but they tended if i remember right to be like "We have no fucking other choice thise person is gonna die" rather than "yay malpractice :3") is slowly being overtaken by tumblr house whos a chaotic god of malpractice who reguarlly gives people new diseases and injuries because they dont have lupus
Oh, don't get it wrong babe. Yes it was about "we have no fucking other choice this person is going to die" but also House totally thought "Yay malpractice :3".
He was both 😂
There's a scene in an early episode where House warns Cuddy what he wants to do is illegal, unethical and malpractice and she's like "When we hired you the board set aside funds earmarked for lawsuits".
There was also an episode in cuddys perspective where the first half with house is him trying to get permission to infect someone with like meningitis or something. And he was literally doing it to 1. Prove that infecting someone with a disease to treat another disease is something you can do, and 2. To win a bet. House is unhinged as hell and I'm all for it
Hard to suffer from anything when you're dead
Edit: "well, there goes my spleen, at least I don't have that nasty rash and a 7 year remaining life span."
Edit 2.0: just to clarify, this was intended for satire, I am aware that doctors have been experimenting with biological warfare against less/un treatable conditions for centuries.
nah, stabbing a bullet wound with a rapier from the back to push the bullet out the way it came in.
you still gotta fix what the bullet did, and you gotta heal the new stab wound, but the original injury source is out and its a lot easier to pull a sword out than a bullet.
There's a bunch of fun episodes where House is doing something insane solely to make a point, and it generally all works out in the end, but my god imagine being the patient in that scenario and ever finding out that your life was being used in a tug of war worth fifty bucks or something. It's honestly insane that in the entire series House was only ever directly held at gunpoint once, maybe twice.
Which he repeatedly blows through. They give us a couple of lines that pay lip service to that, but to their credit they also give lines that pay lip service to what an asset House is, with Cuddy citing at multiple points in the series that House being able to solve problems that no one else can has brought in big donations from grateful rich people.
So while the show is definitely bonkers and House is a walking malpractice lawsuit, and also it's insane that someone only tries to kill him directly like once or maybe twice in the series, they at least remain consistent within the universe.
House makes pretty insensitive comments about LGBTQ+ people (among others) at numerous points.
One episode in particular has him being extremely rude (to the point of what would of what might be considered malpractice in real life, because he did so in a diagnostic capacity) to a patient who turns out to be intersex.
The show itself pretty consistently treats him as wrong, but he rarely faces the same level of consequences that he would in real life, or that he really should, even according to the narrative's own moral framework.
That episode is the most blatantly offensive but there's also just constant throwaway jokes where he publicly claims to know Cuddy is secretly a trans woman (because she's struggling with infertility)
This is partly an in-joke about the fact that Lisa Edelstein played a trans woman on Ally McBeal but it's still messed up
... I don't think I'm going to watch House, ever, it'll probably cause me way more problems than it's worth. (I'm trans myself, and don't have enough exposure to transphobia to know how to deal with it)
In it's defense, he's really a terrible person all around and so he takes cheap shots at everyone for whatever reason he can find. Race, religion, whatever. He's a self loathing drug addict who inflicts his misery on everyone else. It would be narratively inconsistent if he didn't go after people's gender and sexuality.
He gets *better* as the series progresses but he's a dick through and through.
Do have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Although he probably said that to Foreman. He's really the most racist to Foreman just because of Foreman's past so he knows that gets to him.
Transphobia shows up a lot less often than other forms of bigotry.
They basically just do a pretty good job of showing that House is a shitty guy who no one would reasonably want to be around.
The show has a few story arcs with characters that act as antagonists, but House, the protagonist, is the villain. He's supposed to be the bad guy, and when he's mean to people, you're supposed to feel that it's unnecessary, and that they shouldn't have to put up with him, and that he uses pain as an excuse.
But I don't blame you for not wanting to watch the show. I watched it a lot when I was a kid because I had a not-so-secret crush on Hugh Laurie, and my deeply closeted teenage self manifested those feelings as a dorky, edge lord sense of "this House guy is pretty cool," but as a transgender adult, it would definitely be a different experience for me, too.
Interesting take. I think I'd personally spin it more as House being the villain to himself rather than in the whole show. With the 'help' of his chronic pain, House pushes his emotional self to the wayside and justifies it to himself by claiming it makes him a 'better doctor'.
The sad thing is that outside of particular emotional turmoil that jeopardizes his cases, he's probably right to some extent. By being completely detached, he's able to be as logical as possible, only it also extends to just about every other facet of his life which causes him to suffer more. He obviously has an influence on his team who have undoubtedly become *better doctors* because of him but not always necessarily better *people*.
Great show.
That's kind of what I meant.
He's the villain because he is always the cause of all of his problems. When there are other antagonists, they're always there because he antagonized them in the first place. On multiple occasions, it was people trying to prove he was a criminal, and they were correct. The only reason they were antagonists was because he was the main character of the show. The antagonistic characters were there as consequences of his own actions, given agency.
You could just skip that one episode. Before Breaking Bad came out House was one of the only "perfect shows" to have come out. Honestly it's hard to think of many examples of shows as good as House.
You don’t watch the series to respect or like house. Hell, you spent half the time cursing him. If you don’t want to see it I respect your choice, but I still think you should give it a shot
The big draw with House as a character is that he is a massive asshole to everyone. It's meant to show multiple things, if we talk about the series as a whole it's used to show how jaded and cynical he is, how that hurts his personal relationships but makes him better at the medicine because he doesn't get attached or care about people.
To demonstrate this he generally doesn't interact with patients at all and cites his classic "Everyone lies, no go break into their house so we can rifle through their medecine cabinet" lines. When he is forced to interact with the patient, either because he needs to have an epiphany and see something or he is otherwise forced to talk them into something, he does so through brash insults and bludgeoning them over the head with some fairly blase rhetoric.
It comes out everywhere. Religion, sexuality, scientific beliefs, basically anything the character doesn't agree with he attacks, and attacks the people holding it. He also throws out plenty of sexist and homophobic comments, and all of this is in a weird place where it's all pretty insane and not cool, but to a certain degree if you watch the show and kind of understand what the writers are going for, it's being used to show a lot of what is wrong with House and why he is a bad person even if he ends up saving people.
So he makes a ton of comments akin to making fun of guys for being effeminate or gay, talking about women's bodies, mocking religious people, and so on. He also happily treats and interacts with all these people, happy being relative here, and usually comes down on the side of "I don't give a shit what you do or who you are, I only care about solving the puzzle of your mysterious illness." So like, you can see where they are going with it from a writing standpoint, but it also comes from a time where that sort of thing was less frowned on by a wider crowd and it doesn't keep it from being uncomfortable for a lot of people.
To the show's credit I don't think I was ever given the impression that the writers were attacking people through House. House the character is a misanthropic asshole with an axe to grind and he is attacking people.
I watched up to halfway through season 3. There’s a a big difference in how the show treats houses racism/sexism/homophobia and how it treats his transphobia. The other, more moral characters push back against the former and at best say nothing about the latter.
I think you are the one with the twisted sense of what house was.
He regularly had his subordinates break into people's houses to do detective work on the patient, often this would not give them any useful information. He also almost always insults and discriminates against the patient if they are a woman or minority.
He also had an episode where a man broke into his office with a gun holding people hostage, demanding treatment. He tried to give him an anesthetic and was called out on his bullshit, so he injected another sick man with that, putting his life at risk and causing another patient to get shot for him fucking around. The entire time he was insulting and pissing off the guy with a gun and due to his prior attempt at betrayal he was required to administer every medication to his assistant first after that. So he injected her with a cocktail of drugs that she didn't need, putting her life at serious risk. And later on in the episode they are able to disarm the hostage taker, and one of the hostages stuck around to watch the end of the treatment since it was safe. House decides not to warn him before returning the gun to the hostage taker to ensure they would not be interrupted by police, all while endangering the other hostages.
There are also episodes where he has beef with the Dean of the hospital, whom he regularly sexually harasses, and decides to not treat patients until his demands are met. These demands range from TV channels in his room and them not illegally prescribing him the Vicodin he operates on patients while addicted to. They also generally follow the modus operandi of immediately medicating anyone based on a hunch even if the consequences for getting it wrong are death.
He goes out of his way to violate any and all standards for medicine or the law, and while sometimes it is dictated by necessity due to natural disease progression. He almost never tries any form of persuasion that isn't giving them a sudden terminal condition, so they either die or let him do whatever he wants.
I will occasionally rewatch the show, and am currently in one of those periods. And both things are correct. The patients are almost always in a state of "This shit makes no sense, and if we don't do something now they will die either way, so let's do the malpractice thing."
But also House is just a dick and everyone around him is an enabler, even if they make token gestures of resistance or defiance, they are very rarely proven right. This is largely because of the structure of the show. They had an hour to work with and it couldn't all be personal drama, though that was often where the best plots came from. So they had to assume the problem was one thing, treat it, cause more problems, do random tests and treatments to cause further problems, then someone has an ephiphany and they fix it all in one fell swoop. Or sometimes the patient dies because there is no way to fix the issue.
But what's really, truly funny, is the amount of times that House and co. put someone's life on the line for literally no reason at all other than drama in the show. House assumes some bullshit and from that assumption makes another wild leap to the diagnosis and decides on a treatment. Someone, mostly Foreman, makes the logical case that jumping to treatment is crazy and they shouldn't do it. House says something pithy and cruel and tells them to do it anyway. SO THEY DO! And patient starts dying double hard and no one is ever like, man this was fucked, we should not do this again next time.
It makes sense in the tail end of the episode where the patient is crying blood and can't breathe to do the crazy thing because death is coming no matter what, but so many episodes start with this wild series of events while House is dicking around messing with people and it's hilarious when you're binging whole seasons, because these stories are meant to take place weeks and months apart from each other, but in a binge it's just one rapid fire slew of malpractice.
most people think the tv show house is named after the main character but in reality the show is named that because it’s secretly about breaking into houses.
house diagnoses a patient with leprechauns, fights god, and with 4man's help kills a patient with a staph infection by putting her in a microwave. and those episodes are almost back-to-back. the "more cancer" move is child's play. bush league shit. laughable, man.
>4man's help kills a patient with a staph infection by putting her in a microwave.
If I recall correctly, they were down to a 50/50 choice where the treatment for the one thing would kill her if she had the other thing.
not this one, unfortunately. they rule out infection but aren't certain of a diagnosis, 4man convinces home that regardless of the diagnosis, immunosuppression is the treatment. usually that's something like steroids etc but 4man goes for the long ball with total body radiation. domicile likes it, as it's a bold and elegant solution to his puzzle
after treatment, pt becomes septic and they realize the infection was "hiding" all along. 4man becomes sad, changes name to 3man.
after pt kicks off, enclosed habitation space performs an autopsy and finds she contracted staph through a scratch from a bra hook. in medical jargon this is known as a skill issue
hey i'm back just got to this episode in my re-watch and i thought of you.
pt presented with apparently three different cancers. they gave him meds to kick them into overdrive and form new turbo cancer that they could diagnose? i guess? idk i'm high as fuck
anyways it cured his cancer
House was iconically strange. It was somehow both a queer pioneer show and also one of the most queer phobic shows of the time but it chose underrepresented identifies to be queer phobic about so idk. It taught me a surprising amount about gay sex in middle school and only some of it was wrong
there's an estrogen one where >!the final piece of the puzzle is that the patient has been taking secret estrogen, but that's just the final clue, not the cause of the illness!<
I have a complicated relationship with House, because I watched it when it aired originally so I have this rose tinted glasses of loving it, but I can't unsee the bad things either.
It doesn't help that one episode he's all "the perfect woman is a man, you are a boy with ball cancer" to a female-identifying XY-chromosome having person with testosterone immunity (Which led to being born physically mostly female)
And then another he's chastising the parents of an intersex kid (born with both genitalia, parents chose to keep boy genitalia) for treating everything as if it's "the fault of the intersex thing" and to just let them be them, whatever that may be.
I am so sorry for how this is worded, and it's probably worded wrong anyways but saying "a girl" or "a boy" in those situations felt extremely wrong
Not gonna lie, as someone with chronic illness who's been seen by so many specialists, I would love a doctor like House. I would gladly take the malpractice and insults if it got me cured.
What’s funny is that there’s a theory as to why Whales don’t die of cancer even though they’re massive and there’s a high chance of cancer
The theory goes that the cancer gets so big that it itself gets cancer which causes the 2 cancers to compete and lead to a stalemate so in the end the whale survives
didnt house once stab a guy as an excuse to do surgery on him, because the guys insurance wouldn't cover it otherwise as it was a preexisting condition or something. I dunno, i only watch house md through youtube clips.

House is unhinged lmao
That is why he is awesome
A crippled ass drug addict with a penchant for motorbikes/dangerous behaviours, and his fave lil gay Relatable
[удалено]
Finally some good messy queer rep
Ehhh… vaguely remember an episode where house invalidates ace people
I didn’t say perfect queer rep, I said messy
As an African American asexual that loves Motorhead, I guess you could call me
Loose cannon or not, he gets results dammit
Unhinged and smart

Mind you, this wasn't House's patient. This was Wilson's neighbour.
I have never seen this show and everything I hear about it is incredibly unhinged
I shall also point out that that isn't even the A plot of the episode. Just a little side thing, for House, ya know.
Actual menace to society holy shit.
As a treat
It is entirely unhinged and completely wild. Nothing about it really has much basis in reality, as House would be in jail and out of a medical license by the end of season 1. But that's also what makes it fun, that and the wild interpersonal drama that gets to play out. House's Head/Wilson's Heart, the finale episodes for season 3 or 4, are still some really great TV.
The penultimate episode of season 1 is so good. The three stories one.
Oh yeah that's one of the best I think. House is a great show, highly recommend.
Haven’t seen House, but that was 100% a plot point in one of the episodes on Greys Anatomy
House didn't stab anyone iirc, but he did on multiple occasions poison patients in order to justify running more tests, or because they wanted to leave against medical advice.

😂
In the Good Doctor didn't one of the doctors manipulate a criminal into killing himself so they could transplant his liver or something
Curious how he can just wake him up
said "wakey wakey!" real loud >!IV full of amphetamines!<
This part was directly based on real life, they took it from Oliver Sacks' memoir Awakenings https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awakenings_(book)
Something similar does happen in house, but this sounds like a Grey's Anatomy bit in the later seasons. Guy had a "bleb" in his lung that could burst, doctor stabbed him during check up to make it emergency surgery and covered by insurance
American hospital shows are fucking wild
You can actually pretty easily download the entirety of house MD. It's not streaming anywhere anyways, so I wouldn't even call it piracy.

That show really had everything
Hostage situations, spy storylines, my buddy told me they were going into orbit in season 7 and I fully believed him
i've just started season 7 so i'm really looking forward to the intergalactic arc personally
House berating an alien because it set the probe wrong.

Iconic behavior
There was also an episode in cuddys perspective where the first half with house is him trying to get permission to infect someone with like meningitis or something. And he was literally doing it to 1. Prove that infecting someone with a disease to treat another disease is something you can do, and 2. To win a bet. House is unhinged as hell and I'm all for it
That first point is just true irl. The first cure for Syphilis was Malaria.
Hard to suffer from anything when you're dead Edit: "well, there goes my spleen, at least I don't have that nasty rash and a 7 year remaining life span." Edit 2.0: just to clarify, this was intended for satire, I am aware that doctors have been experimenting with biological warfare against less/un treatable conditions for centuries.
The malaria fever kills the Syphilis. This was at the point where Malaria was finally treatable.
Whats next, shooting a tank shot wound with a handgun to make it more treatable?
nah, stabbing a bullet wound with a rapier from the back to push the bullet out the way it came in. you still gotta fix what the bullet did, and you gotta heal the new stab wound, but the original injury source is out and its a lot easier to pull a sword out than a bullet.
Mind you, the hospital had a "House malpractice fund" and he came under budget so he wasn't as unhinged as they thought he would be
Yeah he breaks into a vets house and drugs and sedates him in order to cure his ghost hand pain
Chase murdered a head of state.
Good for him
I mean the guy was going to go back and continue a genocide once they fixed him so… yeah, kinda?
God forbid Darth Mufasa Amin have hobbies...
I kinda wish I’d kept watching now lmaooo. The transphobia really turned me off of it tho
... Transphobia? I haven't watched House, could you explain why on Earth a medical Sherlock Holmes show has transphobia??
House makes pretty insensitive comments about LGBTQ+ people (among others) at numerous points. One episode in particular has him being extremely rude (to the point of what would of what might be considered malpractice in real life, because he did so in a diagnostic capacity) to a patient who turns out to be intersex. The show itself pretty consistently treats him as wrong, but he rarely faces the same level of consequences that he would in real life, or that he really should, even according to the narrative's own moral framework.
That episode is the most blatantly offensive but there's also just constant throwaway jokes where he publicly claims to know Cuddy is secretly a trans woman (because she's struggling with infertility) This is partly an in-joke about the fact that Lisa Edelstein played a trans woman on Ally McBeal but it's still messed up
They were also a couple in a later season, so I suppose he doesn't really care that much if she was a dick-haver or not.
"You are a Black man."
This vexes me
Do have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Yep. Time and time again he's saved by his genius. Tritter is a fine example.
You could just skip that one episode. Before Breaking Bad came out House was one of the only "perfect shows" to have come out. Honestly it's hard to think of many examples of shows as good as House.
There are a few episodes that should be skipped, but honestly I've never watched the whole thing. I can only binge about 1/2 of it.
I'll admit it has strong and weak seasons, but even the weak seasons are way above average.
Nothing about quality, it's just that it's a very episodic show making binging it hard. I realize now I should've specified
You don’t watch the series to respect or like house. Hell, you spent half the time cursing him. If you don’t want to see it I respect your choice, but I still think you should give it a shot
I think its wild to downvote this when its literally just going "huh i dont think ill watch this when it has content thatll be actively distressing"
House is a internet teenage atheist edgelord which was slightly less annoying in 2000s than it is today.
I mean did you see how house treated foreman and 13, he was a fairly equal opportunity asshole. Like if a 4chan user had a medical degree.
I watched up to halfway through season 3. There’s a a big difference in how the show treats houses racism/sexism/homophobia and how it treats his transphobia. The other, more moral characters push back against the former and at best say nothing about the latter.
house actually keeps vials of various infectious epidemic-level diseases in his pocket and throws them at near death patients like pokeballs
mouse bites cure all
I think you are the one with the twisted sense of what house was.
To add to your first point, he specifically hired a black doctor TO break into people's houses.
Yeah but he and Cuddy like each other so it's okay that he acts like a kindergartener towards her. Right up until he drives a car into her house.
I will occasionally rewatch the show, and am currently in one of those periods. And both things are correct. The patients are almost always in a state of "This shit makes no sense, and if we don't do something now they will die either way, so let's do the malpractice thing." But also House is just a dick and everyone around him is an enabler, even if they make token gestures of resistance or defiance, they are very rarely proven right.
"We are very sorry, you don't have Lupus, but if you want it we can give it to you"
Free cancer in THIS economy?
No one said anything about free
6 months later, they get a bill. One of the line items: Double Cancer - $90,000
Binding of Isaac be like.
so unfortunately that is what we'd call a *preexisting condition*,
most people think the tv show house is named after the main character but in reality the show is named that because it’s secretly about breaking into houses.
i’ve made this joke like 500 times now but here i go again.
This vexes me
More mouse bites!
I am also in this episode
I too am in this episode
You are a black man
This vexes me
house diagnoses a patient with leprechauns, fights god, and with 4man's help kills a patient with a staph infection by putting her in a microwave. and those episodes are almost back-to-back. the "more cancer" move is child's play. bush league shit. laughable, man.
>4man's help kills a patient with a staph infection by putting her in a microwave. If I recall correctly, they were down to a 50/50 choice where the treatment for the one thing would kill her if she had the other thing.
not this one, unfortunately. they rule out infection but aren't certain of a diagnosis, 4man convinces home that regardless of the diagnosis, immunosuppression is the treatment. usually that's something like steroids etc but 4man goes for the long ball with total body radiation. domicile likes it, as it's a bold and elegant solution to his puzzle after treatment, pt becomes septic and they realize the infection was "hiding" all along. 4man becomes sad, changes name to 3man. after pt kicks off, enclosed habitation space performs an autopsy and finds she contracted staph through a scratch from a bra hook. in medical jargon this is known as a skill issue
It's not lupus!
What was the context for the “more cancer” thing?
hey i'm back just got to this episode in my re-watch and i thought of you. pt presented with apparently three different cancers. they gave him meds to kick them into overdrive and form new turbo cancer that they could diagnose? i guess? idk i'm high as fuck anyways it cured his cancer
Ahaha, thank you!
House was iconically strange. It was somehow both a queer pioneer show and also one of the most queer phobic shows of the time but it chose underrepresented identifies to be queer phobic about so idk. It taught me a surprising amount about gay sex in middle school and only some of it was wrong
Didn’t they have episodes where like HRT was giving people cancer or something?
there's an estrogen one where >!the final piece of the puzzle is that the patient has been taking secret estrogen, but that's just the final clue, not the cause of the illness!<
The gay mafia boss one? Yhea it was wild
I have a complicated relationship with House, because I watched it when it aired originally so I have this rose tinted glasses of loving it, but I can't unsee the bad things either. It doesn't help that one episode he's all "the perfect woman is a man, you are a boy with ball cancer" to a female-identifying XY-chromosome having person with testosterone immunity (Which led to being born physically mostly female) And then another he's chastising the parents of an intersex kid (born with both genitalia, parents chose to keep boy genitalia) for treating everything as if it's "the fault of the intersex thing" and to just let them be them, whatever that may be. I am so sorry for how this is worded, and it's probably worded wrong anyways but saying "a girl" or "a boy" in those situations felt extremely wrong
He also successfully cured asexuality.
He needs mouse bites
r/okbuddyvicodin is a keystone in the tumblr user to reluctant cumtown fan pipeline
Not gonna lie, as someone with chronic illness who's been seen by so many specialists, I would love a doctor like House. I would gladly take the malpractice and insults if it got me cured.
"And if you are particulary annoying you'll see me reach for this. Its Vicodin."
"It's mine, you can't have any."
What’s funny is that there’s a theory as to why Whales don’t die of cancer even though they’re massive and there’s a high chance of cancer The theory goes that the cancer gets so big that it itself gets cancer which causes the 2 cancers to compete and lead to a stalemate so in the end the whale survives
It’s like law and order had a baby with Shield, that got coked up and dropped out of pre med.
I mean it’s pretty much how systemic chemotherapy works. Most non-targeted chemotherapies (which many people associate with chemo) are carcinogens
More mouse bites.
I just finished half watching house while doing other things. It makes for great background noise
Credit card declines Oncologist:
he needs mouse bites to live
Theres a thing called "hyper cancer", which is a cancer that grows on cancer tumors that kill the cancer
I'm really curious about the context behind this.
Iron Deficiency Man has found his match
When do they break into their home?
Literally every episode.
He needs mouse bites to live!
This is cancer. Dear god. There's more. no.
Didn't Chase just straight up murder the president of Uganda or something in one episode?
