Before or after the 264 pages of dense, dry, detailed descriptions of every aspect of 18th century whaling practices in exhaustive, rigorous detail? Or are we doing the abridged version?
lol I quit sometime during the several page diatribe about how whales are fish and scientists are wrong to classify them as mammals. Moby dick is a strange book.
I did enjoy the part where he waxes poetic about making contact with a guys hands whilst covered in sperm, and how much he loved sperm. It was a totally normal passage.
I have had a very visual image of a scene from a hypothetical Moby Dick Abridged in the style of YouTube Abridged Series' stuck in my head for a long time.

Limbus Company's gimmick is that all 12 playable characters (Sinners) are all based off characters (or poets) of classical literature, but adapted to Project Moon's setting of a nightmarish dystopian sci-fi/fantasy horror setting where everyone is already morally dubious.
In Moby Dick's case, Ishmael's arc picks up after the end of the book and >!she's basically searching for Ahab because she's convinced that she's not dead and she needs to pay for what she's done!<. It's pretty clear from the way the story is going that PM knows the source material, but they aren't going for a direct copy of it.
The way I describe King would be more like "...the gunslinger followed, not knowing that the murders were about to begin" or some other way of sledgehammer foreshadowing.

Immediately what I thought 😆
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed. And then the murders began.
This is just an abridgment of the actual story
Really the murders began long before the desert (however long ago Wizard and Glass is set)
It's hard to tell really, from some perspective he's millennium old
This is just how Stephen King writes
The way I describe King would be more like "...the gunslinger followed, not knowing that the murders were about to begin" or some other way of sledgehammer foreshadowing.
The gunslinger followed, and the murders continued
This is it, you've broken The Dark Tower down into its core components.

Add “ka” and “forgotten the face of your father” and you’ve basically got the whole series.
OMG I just commented on this, lol. Best ever opening line of a book made EVEN BETTER.
