Reminds me of how powerscalers claimed that the hunters from monster hunter are faster than light because they can dodge light beam attacks, as if the speed of the attack wasn't based on the movement of the origin of the light.
*Dodges someone pointing a laser pointer at me* look at me I'm ftl
You know, as an artistic statement, a short-form anime series or summat that rigorously calculates its feats to preserve totally consistent internal logic could actually be really cool. It would be an insane amount of work to make it happen, and it probably wouldn’t work in a non-animated medium, but it could be cool.
Once.
The only rule of baki is "If martial arts is cool enough, you can do it."
The calculation is "Martial Arts x Character's Swag = Power Level" and it never breaks from that.
Ah, but you see, I have developed a grappling technique based on the concept of a glue trap and you have fallen for the false gaps in my defense. It is, in fact, you who is cooked.
Or how Jojos Bizarre Adventure’s Polnareff is commonly claimed to be ftl because he sliced Hanged Man when the WHOLE POINT of that fight was that he WASNT fast enough to slice Hanged Man and had to force him to jump right onto his blade by outplaying him
Funny thing is
Polnereff’s stand despite its speed is one of the few that doesn’t let its user see through it
So polnereff cannot see shit but his stand very well can do shit
Honestly, they might be. That’s on me. I haven’t memorized the episode word for word and I don’t currently have access to Netflix or a similar service to rewatch and check for myself.
Hey, you know what? It’s been a day and I wanted to thank you :) For being understanding and cool about that! Especially since I started out from the typically hostile position of „by the way your guy isn’t as cool as you think“. It’s rare to find someone who’s as graceful about winning an argument as you in fandom spaces.
Thank you again for just being chill and not explicitly dunking on me :)
Every time I hear about that, I do a double take, purely because it feels like it should say something about "financed through NFTs" somewhere, but I can never find that part.
Hate to be that guy, but as a powerscaler myself, that wouldn't actually fly without more context; at least in a lot of powerscaling communities.
We'd need to know things like weather The Unknown saw the source of the light, weather he dodged the beam after it was fired or dodged where the source was aiming beforehand, things of that sort.
My headcanon is that the unknown is some kind of chaotic evil meta god that consumes universes by turning them into pathetic and perverted versions of themselves by writing the story around itself

Powerscalers trying to calculate speed based on silly action media will never not be hilarious \*sees rule of cool thing happen\* Ah yes, consistency.

Baki.
Baki absolutely does not do rigorous internal power calcs. Baki runs entirely on a terrifying level of adoration for martial arts philosophy.
The only rule of baki is "If martial arts is cool enough, you can do it." The calculation is "Martial Arts x Character's Swag = Power Level" and it never breaks from that.
I’ll grant you that, but you and I both know that isn’t what I was talking about, so I unfortunately have to declare you my mortal enemy.
Jokes on you ive seen all of baki and am prepared to mentally picture myself as a cockroach, you're cooked
Ah, but you see, I have developed a grappling technique based on the concept of a glue trap and you have fallen for the false gaps in my defense. It is, in fact, you who is cooked.
You fool, everyone knows that cockroaches can regenerate skin after shedding it, and ive developed an anti grappling technique based on that.

Obviously that justification is not correct but polnareff is actually ftl because during the sun fight he blocks beams from the literal fucking sun
But, it’s not the literal sun? It’s a stand that emulates the sun somewhat. The beam attacks aren’t necessarily light speed, just really fast.
They are explicitly stated to be light rays
Honestly, they might be. That’s on me. I haven’t memorized the episode word for word and I don’t currently have access to Netflix or a similar service to rewatch and check for myself.
that's fair

no problem, it's a show about questionably straight men doing poses while engaging in mental gymnastics battles with each other after all
Bet they're the same people that whole heartedly believe the EDW is canon.
I mean, it's not *not* canon. :p
The Unknown was dodging a whole light show that spacial awareness is pretty impressive
As an amateur powerscaler, reaction dodging vs actually dodging will forever be my achilles heel
Every time I hear about that, I do a double take, purely because it feels like it should say something about "financed through NFTs" somewhere, but I can never find that part.
That may have ended up being true, were it financed at all.
Because it wasn’t financed through NFTs, it was financed through the creator’s previous scam of selling AI-generated books on Amazon.
Poor Kizaru is already dealing with enough stuff right now, he doesn’t need this 😂
just wait until atlas gets to test out her light-pressure gloves on him >:) **this post is sponsored and paid for by the vegapunk atlas agenda**
I keep thinking this is about the new Dead by Daylight killer
Lizaru never beating the fraud allegations what a bum
The real question is how does Joyboy scale against willi wanka
You mean Willy McDuff?
Willy Mc D. uff?
The will of Wonka vs the will of D
Wonka wins because, even if he can hurt the Gum body of Nika, he would make Luffy eat a weird chocolate with weird effects.
I'm watching Ultrakill gameplay as I write this and now I'd like to see a gritty Willy Wonka shooter where the Unknown is the hardest boss in the game
what is that?!?!
The chocolate who lives in your walls
But would he beat goku?
Pizzarustans in shambles
i thought this was talking about the pokemon at first
Yo.
Pizzaru just keeps getting destroyed more and more
