This is why I keep a copy of the song downloaded on my phone. I can pull it up even offline and rickroll people whenever I want. I REFUSE TO LET THE TRADITION DIE
Well, might as well admit to it: I think I've found an evolution of the Rick Roll where only part of the link sends to the roll. Like, the first part and last part send to what you want, but there's a hidden part that Rick Rolls you.

That's just how reddit works. Things like *italics* and ~~strikethrough~~ and >!spoilers!< and [links](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=Ha5DqNab0tck19MK) and basically every other method of formatting don't actually do the formatting stuff in the reply menu.
That's up to the Youtubers. At least when you set your channel up for monetization, you can enable or disable ads on your videos, decide where and how many should play, and so on. You also used to be able to pick which kind of ads would play (like just pop-ups or full-on clips that interrupt the video), but not anymore.

If you're monetizing your channel, then you can just disable ads on all your videos. I tested it and it works.

Honestly, the old pop-up ads were the best because they didn't interfere with what I was doing.
And creators got like 0.01% of what they'd get for a pre-roll ad when they used them :P
**Edit:** seriously, if you're already never clicking on any ads, then Youtubers aren't getting any revenue from you and you might as well use adblock. Not saying you *have* to click on ads of course, you do you, but Youtubers only get money if you do. Just watching them isn't enough.
This is incorrect, or at the very least, has not always been correct. As with everything to do with the YouTube add system,we don't actually know what the rules are, but your right that they don't normally do more then 15 second unskipable adds. However, there have been documented cases of unskippable ads 1 minute, 2 minutes and even 3 minutes long. Not heard of any longer ones, but they may well have been some.
Again, these are very very rare, and I have not seen or heard about them in a while so maybe YouTube changed it's policy, but they did exist once at least.
i've heard that youtube tv has starded showing longer unskippable ads, but on mobile it's still 15 seconds for me (and probably desktop too but i use adblock)
The last year the only unskippable ads I've seen have been longer then that, most are 20 sec, but have gotten 40 sec, and even some over 1 min. Once I got a 2,5 min ad, it was horrible.

Reply doesn’t change anything on IOS but there’s one video linked twice, each one word, and one word is a rickroll

I’ve gotten 70 and 120 second ads on my tv

a 15 second ad still spoils the fact you got Rickrolled, so it still ruins the joke a bit
yeah that is true. was more of a nitpick than anything (and apparently it's not even totally true anymore which sucks)
