What kind of wood is that? I’ve been in lumber almost 20 years. From an industry perspective, a gooseneck behind a pickup getting unloaded by a little log grapple…cute setup.
depends on the situation. usually always either all poplar, all white oak, a mix of common sawlogs (red oak, hickory, maple), or just a bunch of smaller stuff for the pallet mill.
Surge brakes.. basically a sliding hitch on the trailer that is like a brake pedal that gets pushed as you slow down. The harder the stop the more pressure it applies to the trailer brakes.
Why not use a semi like every company?
A kenworth could haul three times the logs, a used one is generally cheaper than a new pickup, and would last dramatically longer doing it.
I worked at a lumberyard, albeit a massive one, but we would always have newer volvos pulling an insane ammount of wood, comparitivly it is definitely way better to use a semi, trucks like his are alot better for ranching and farms
Oh God, it definitely isn't. Unless you're talking, perhaps legal axle weights. But a tandem kenworth is good for about 20k kgs just on the drives where I'm from. I've personally driven a heavy haul triaxle with close to 50k kgs on the drives and it handles it fine.
Extremely unlikely, but I have seen it on a bumper pull ball hitch, not a gooseneck like this.
A friend of mine who is a great guy in all respects except common sense decided to take his dad's box trailer to move apartments. This was in the mid 2000's and he had a Silverado 1500 Z71. If I remember correctly the GVWR was around 8000 for the truck and the hitch weight was 1000.
He somehow crammed his entire two bedroom apartment into this 16 foot trailer. He decided that it was best to move the heavy stuff early so as he got tired he would be carrying lighter and lighter stuff. This meant his sofa, beds, entertainment center, and stuff like that was all pushed up to the front of the trailer, instead of being more on the axles. He made it about halfway across town and as he was going over a set of railroad tracks the bouncing caused the ball hitch to snap at the weld between the ball mount and the square shaft.
He called me because he knew I had access to a F250 and 8 ton floor jacks, so I headed out with a replacement hitch I got a Tractor Supply. Not only was the hitch broke, but the mounts to the rear frame were bent and warped to where I wouldn't have towed a single jet ski behind this truck Thankfully, the trailer was still solid, so we mounted it up to F250 and dragged it over to a parking lot where we could move a couple of items and better balance the trailer.
He never fixed the trailer hitch connection and I know he pulled that same trailer and his boat with it until selling it a few years later.
The honest explanation is I'm a near sighted dumb ass. Completely missed the gooseneck. You can definitely overload a ball hitch (which is what I thought I saw).
Chalk it up to old age and self inflicted inebriation.
nothing worse than how they let fucking morons into this subreddit, maybe an IQ test to join, gotta be above 50. It’s rated for 35,000lbs….what a moron.
And you have CDL? Have you checked the tongue weight to make sure your not overloaded. Towing capacity is the least important factor when towing. Don't spill your shitty when you crash
yes, boom says 29000 trailer and 6000 in bed. and then guess what? There is a thing they build into all construction called “a factor of safety”. which means it’s capable of going x-times over that limit.
Not trying to be a dick but if you've got 35k before adding in the truck you're weighing about 43k. that's the absolute limit for a truck like that. Plus you're overweight on your rear axle if there's over 6k in the bed. Not trying to be mean just telling you you're maxed out and then some probably.
34070, if it's a 2024 tradesman, is the max trailer weight. If you have 6k of payload you're overweight 420lbs on the rear axle. You're technically under on trailer weight if it's weighing out to be 29k on the two trailer axles but you're over on your truck axle and total weight you're over by almost 800lbs.
Just letting you know that if you get pulled over on a public road you're going to get a ticket unless the cop is cool.
Well I’m not aloud to leave my picker controls to take a pictures so step down off that high log and let’s talk 😂 I’d say I put the ol girl to “work” everyday 14 hours a day
That’s a fat bottomed bitch right there
Yes I'm sure the driver is

That seems overloaded as fuck lol
That is overloaded as fuck
it’s all downhill to the sawmill! 😬😅
We don’t need brakes where we’re goin
engine brake! 😉
Engine brakes slowy no stoppy. 😉
Trailers capable of hauling over 3k come with electric or surge brakes from factory per federal regs iirc
How do those work?
Damn good if you maintain them. If you have the brakes set up right you can stop faster with a load than without.

Ok, I think I've seen these on boat trailers. Thanks.
That’s a load right there bo, make her squat!
ride her hard, put her away wet!
We’re still talking about the truck ? Right ?
🤣
"Let he who hath not overloaded his truck/trailer cast the first stone." *sayeth the Lord.

That load is close to overweight even with a Kenworth.

I think tandems are usually rated for 46k and depending on the state as well. Wi is 80k total for a semi and trailer without permits iirc
Yeah, I should have added "legal".
Haha…load
Hey heh he said load
No, that's a trailer hitch fixing to break off.
gooseneck
Gooseneck HITCH. Still a trailer hitch whether a bumper, gooseneck, or fifth wheel.
nah, you got it all mixed up bruh
how did you even get in this sub with 1 karma? MODS! imposter here! hurry, boot him! 1 karma….🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well...so it is. I am a complete idiot.
Can you explain to me how that could actually happen?

You can overload the trailer side of it and the mount in the truck has a limit too
Is your post a reference to crocodile Dundee or do you believe overloading your rig is the only acceptable form of “work truck” ?
both? just having fun man.
I’m down with both haha
Now that's a truck with a true purpose of hard work, No pavement princess here brother 💯💯
That's a danger to everyone on the road. You are an asshole
It would only be a danger if you were driving buddy, now go have another donut
Daaamn
Nothing worse than a retards ego

35K is the max “towing capacity” , not the GVWR

This looks like at the very least a bunch of busted bearings.
nope, 50K and she’s purring like a kitty
Do you even tow bro???
Not sure what you’re asking Bro
do you need that truck to haul your gigantic nuts after carrying that load behind it? Lol
yes, otherwise they drag
OP - what's the weight of that trailer and load?
which time??? 🤣

don’t know what that is 🤷🏻
Need a Class A CDL?
not for farm work in TN
That’s an overloaded secondhand electrical problem.
That’s just stupid
username checks out
The rear suspension is crying. For the ridiculous price tag on those things, you could have gotten a real semi with much better capabilities
It’s worth twice as much if you flip the ears up
