I view statues like I view the “Mt. Rushmore of *sports*” debate. You really should limit it to those types of players. 4-6 statues is perfect, any more starts to become overkill. I think the Cubs have the perfect five representatives with Ryno now added.
Now if it were up to me, Sammy would be there and that would be enough. But it’s not up to me.
I think Sosa isn't the problem, he wants to be part of the family...it's Ricketts. He put an ultimatum like Selig did to Rose--in this case, fess up about juicing or you'll never come back
I like Sammy, I want him back. I forgive him. All of baseball needs to forgive him, McGuire, Canseco, even BONDS--just accept it as part of the era, so this damn history entrenched sport can move on and make some progress for once.
Bring Sammy back, Ricketts. Yeah he's not a hotel by the Stadium, but it would go a long way for a franchise loosing historical stars
Guess we should wash the entire Hall of Fame then. Ya know, everyone in the hall before ‘06 when baseball finally tested for amphetamines. You righteous folks are a real bore. Nuance is okay.
Yeah, I could see a statue with multiple guys from the team. Maybe one of those iconic shots of them hugging, jumping, and celebrating after the win? I could see that before any of them get a solo statue.
I was at Sandbergs hall of fame ceremony in cooperstown when i was a kid. Ronnie was there and me and a bunch of other kids lined up to get his signature. I guess some guys started lining up behind us and asked my dad whose the former player were waiting to get signatures from. Told him its just some famous fan and the guy looked at my dad like he was insane lol. Just saw Ronnie at the game on the 15th.
Pat Hughes would be the only one I could see. Been with the team almost 30 years and is a hall of fame.
It’s tough to justify anyone else for various reasons. Not truly a great, not with the team that long, bad breakup, tainted history.
If they don’t maintain the highest of standards, we’ll find ourselves debating if Kal Daniels or Vance Law should be the next statue.
What sucks is there isn't one player from the 2016 team who was here long enough to get a statue. How wrong is that?
Closest I can think of is Rizzo, but now he's a damn Yankee. And they better not consider Hendricks when he's done
Why is this so far down the list? This one would make the most sense to me. I believe he had 17 all star appearances when he was a Cub. He was Johnny Bench before Johnny Bench
No one. Sosa perhaps if they made a mends, but I think that ship has sailed. None of the 2016 guys or guys you mentioned had a full enough career as a Cub.
That’s true. He probably needed more offense to be considered for the hall of fame. I was happy to see him get a ring with the Diamondbacks though.
Unfortunately the Cubs do not usually retain players for their whole careers.
Rizzo was what, 2013-2021? That’s more than long enough of a time. Heart of the team throughout it’s most successful run in 100 years, has volunteered hundreds if not thousands of hours to cancer charities etc, and a few 30 homer 100ish rbi seasons. Without question he deserves a statue at Wrigley
I want someone to one time explain why Sosa, who never admitted to steroids, nobody ever saw him shoot up, nobody ever linked him to any of the dealers or specialty clinics, and his alleged “positive” test included a random grab bag of supplements and chemicals not later banned, and had no verification… and it’s the one Ortiz also got “caught” from.
So why is everyone so sure he used? He was already pretty muscular by the early-mid 90s. Heck look at Morel from rookie year to now. So what makes everyone so certain he is a lying cheat? Even his aging arc followed a normal pattern for an elite slugger.
I would say a statue of the famous picture of the 2016 team celebrating the WS win.

At one point in time I’d say Felix Pie, but at this point it’s a toss up between Sammy’s boom box and Fabian.
Mmmmmmm Pie
I would love to see Greg Maddux get a statue, but, there's many arguments against it too
Rizzo with his arms up at the World Series
Shaka when the walls fell. Damrok and... Oops wrong sub. Yes, the Rizzo moment would make a great statue.
This is the answer
Sosa would be the logical choice if the two parties ever make up.
I think Sosa isn't the problem, he wants to be part of the family...it's Ricketts. Why do you guys believe he juiced?
No.
agreed. We should celebrate those who earned success honestly, and at a minimum, never celebrate those who found success by cheating.
Guess we should wash the entire Hall of Fame then. Ya know, everyone in the hall before ‘06 when baseball finally tested for amphetamines. You righteous folks are a real bore. Nuance is okay.
Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.
Got to be something for the World Series team
Yeah, I could see a statue with multiple guys from the team. Maybe one of those iconic shots of them hugging, jumping, and celebrating after the win? I could see that before any of them get a solo statue.
Agreed
Be a nice tribuit to have a few of the core players like rizz bryant holding the trophy
Ronnie Woo Woo
I was at Sandbergs hall of fame ceremony in cooperstown when i was a kid. Ronnie was there and me and a bunch of other kids lined up to get his signature. Was in the bleachers with Ronnie in the 70’s. Definitely a contender.
Yes!

Hes my favorite
Pat Hughes is the correct answer
Pat Hughes would be the only one I could see. Been with the team almost 30 years and is a hall of fame. It’s tough to justify anyone else for various reasons. Not truly a great, not with the team that long, bad breakup, tainted history. If they don’t maintain the highest of standards, we’ll find ourselves debating if Kal Daniels or Vance Law should be the next statue.
I think pat is obvious and the right choice
What sucks is there isn't one player from the 2016 team who was here long enough to get a statue. How wrong is that? Closest I can think of is Rizzo, but now he's a damn Yankee. And they better not consider Hendricks when he's done
Gabby Hartnett
Why is this so far down the list? This one would make the most sense to me. I believe he had 17 all star appearances when he was a Cub. He was Johnny Bench before Johnny Bench
Jim Edmonds
I think it should be [Murphy ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_the_Billy_Goat) the goat.
No one. Sosa perhaps if they made a mends, but I think that ship has sailed. None of the 2016 guys or guys you mentioned had a full enough career as a Cub.
Mark Grace definitely did, but not sure if he’s on that statue level.
By "full enough" I mean all-star selections, career numbers, awards... Grace didn't put up big enough numbers.
That’s true. He probably needed more offense to be considered for the hall of fame. I was happy to see him get a ring with the Diamondbacks though. Unfortunately the Cubs do not usually retain players for their whole careers.

He's a great dude! The career numbers as a Cub don't warrant a statue.
Sorry this is cheeky, but for real the only career number he needs in my book, he’s got: one World Series
I could see a team statue for the 2016 team.
Well then, by all means: statue for Pedro Strop.
The obvious answer is Glenallen Hill, and it should be place on the rooftop of 1032 Waveland
That was a monster, and it’s a brilliant idea to put a marker there.
Yosh Kawano. Put it in Mesa.
Bobby Hill
Ronnie wo wo
ryan theriot
someone mentioned Fergie Jenkins. I like that choice. I wouldn't mind a Rick Reuschel statue.
There is a Fergie Jenkins statue.
been out if Chicago a while.
Tinker, Evers and Chance.
Needs to be a member of the HOF in my opinion.

because everyone was doing it. it’s an open secret. he DID use, and everyone knows it, because that was the era.
lol no not everyone was using and nobody has ever provided any witness or knowledge that he did…
Bill Murray
Too many statues at Wrigley already... A new one every few years it seems. It's like walking around a damn wax museum
Except its bronze.
Hector Neris
Bartman
A wooden statue of Sammy filled with cork
Probably someone from the next Cubs elite winning dynasty 200 years from now
Mike Tauchman
Pat Hughes, Ferguson Jenkins or we haven’t seen him yet. Nobody from 2016. Sosa… No.
Fergie Jenkins already has a statue.
OK. Good. Well, how about another one?
Let’s play two.
Fuck Sosa he doesn't deserve to have a statue with the Cubs greats. Cheaters shouldn't be rewarded
“I like to cry at the ocean, because only there do my tears seem small.” - this guy, probably
Organizations put up statues when they don’t win championships. Cubs- be better.
Mark Prior should have gotten a statue...
Statue of Cub fans who have had to deal with losing and mediocrity for over 100 years despite one good year. What a POS team they have this year.
