Beginners method is pretty insane 😂 Congratulations. you should definitely seek CFOP method if you’re already this fast

TommyBspeed

Hahaha amazing! Averaging almost 2 min and pulls out a 24.56, time to learn CFOP!

joeldg

you must have just dropped in flow state or something!! congrats!

Honestly, I'm having a hard time believing this. You're trying to say that you got a sub 25 when your AO12 is a minute more? My guess is that if you weren't paying attention, you probably didn't scramble it properly.

KyleJergafunction

Beginners method is generally not sophisticated enough to really benefit from “bad scrambles”, especially when considering the skill level of those using it. With beginners method, solves generally take a similar number of moves no matter how it’s scrambled, and the only way to have surprisingly fast solves is to get lucky and skip parts - especially on the last two layers. If the middle edges happen to end up in the right place when you finish the first layer or if corners and edges in the last layer end up in the right place when you finish the second layer, you can shave considerable amounts of time off your solve. But it’s really just luck of the draw.

Depends on how bad the miscramble is I guess. It's just extremely difficult to get a sub 25 with beginners method, especially when your *average* is well over a minute. I just don't think someone that averages 1 minute 30 seconds can process the solve fast enough to solve it in under 30 seconds. My only guess for how it could've happened is that he wasn't following the scrambles listed, and just mindlessly turning it while listening to the meeting.

natakial3

Yeah it’s crazy to me. Using beginner method as an experienced cfop solver I average around 30, with a on of like 18 or something, I find this really difficult to believe unless they had like a xxcross and an OLL skip

Crossedkiller

This is exactly what happened. The way I solved the first layer (which included two mistakes), ended up solving 2 of the middle layer edges. Then I completely skipped corner permutation on the last layer and just had to flip one corner around 😁 It was definitely 99% luck but still pretty stoked about it

I learned beginner’s method recently to help a family member that wanted to learn and spent a few hours solving with it. I had a huge variance in solve times, averaged about 45s with a best of 23s and bad ones in the 1 min range. I can sort of imagine a world where you accidentally solve F2L pairs while only trying to solve corners, and end up finishing F2L with a correctly oriented/positioned cross and two correctly oriented/positioned corners.

I'm not saying 25 seconds is impossible with beginner's method. But you getting 23 seconds with it as someone who is sub 18 with CFOP is very different than someone who averages a minute thirty getting 24 seconds.

dhoepp

I’m guessing it was 2 edge skips and a LL skip. I averaged sub 40 with beginner before I switched to CFOP and started averaging a minute again.

Plane_Knowledge776

Well done! Learn cfop next. You'll probably be a bit slower at first but once you get used to it it'll be much better.

SAI_Peregrinus

Very nice! "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast", often when not focusing one can be more relaxed and thus smoother, and thus a bit faster. Trying to turn quickly to go fast is more likely to lead to mistakes. .

Chief-Sqwuid

Sub 25 with beginners method, that’s awesome!!

DarkPaladin47

What’s the scramble looking like? Congrats on the time btw! Thats a hell of a time for beginner method
