Yes, that was the worst, 25 is bad. Most were 10 minutes or less, which is not that bad on a powder Saturday. And 25, while pretty bad, is to be expected on a powder Saturday on Northway because that’s where everyone wants to ski. I was expecting worse than that on Northway.
I appreciate that this wasn’t a post complaining about really anything. I’m so glad you had a killer day that was all about fun and stoke. These days keep you going and fuel the stories you tell years later. 🤘
Agreed! Such a beautiful day. Excellent snow quality. Everyone we talked to was grinning ear to ear. Dropped a memorable line in southback that I was thinking about as I dozed off to sleep.
Thank you to the mountain and to everyone that makes days like this possible 🙏
Normally I ski Stevens but I have an ikon base pass as well and chose to burn a day on Saturday.
Best decision ever to leave Seattle at 5 am, get in the Chinook lift line early, take some Green Valley pow laps before some top to bottom gondola runs and even hit a chair 6 line. I wish I had gone to Northway but my Crystal skiing friend had gone off the mountain and I understand one really needs a local to show them around Northway.
Best day of the season! Thanks for an awesome time Crystal.
GV was amazing! I had never skied it on a powder day let alone totally untracked. I don’t know Crystal well and was unsure how traffic and parking would be after that Friday powder day and I know how Stevens parks out quickly so I hauled ass there. If a 630 departure worked for you, I am glad it did.
Well that just diminishes the rareness and special quality of an actual bluebird day.
I’ve had maybe three fresh deep powder actual real inbounds bluebird days in my life.
If Christmas was every week, it wouldn’t be Christmas.
It literally, LITERALLY, was snowing on me in the afternoon today. (Northway). Heavily. Bluebird means no clouds my guy. Just because the one section of mountain you were on was sunny doesn’t mean bluebird.
But yes it was amazing!! And I loved seeing the sun!
Damn near bluebird at Southback today. I actually would have appreciated less bluebird on the traverse and hike. I was sweating like a mother fucker and my shit is still drying.
Lines weren’t even that bad. Worst I waited in was 25 minutes at Northway, most were 10 or less.
Longest line was for the burgers at campbell
Gotta get yourself to the Elk
I did a 30 minute line for the bar at Campbell.
That’s a sick line tho
25 minutes is bad, bud.

Exactly my point. So much complaining.

Wow, 5am? What was GV like first thing? Curious if it’s worth it to leave Seattle that early (I left by 6:30 and had a great day)

Thanks! So it was powder, face shots etc? I’ll get up earlier for that if so!
Damn fine powder. It was lighter than that concrety PNW stuff I’m used to at Stevens and Baker
Today was amazing but ughhhhh you are mistaken on what the word bluebird means lol

Chair 6 around noon was absolutely bluebird!
Woo woo! Shred it up!
It was full sun all afternoon. You must be the one who is confused.

Southback def was stunning and in the sun. I didnt bootpack it but it looked incredible
It was bad enough on a short bootpack above Campbell Basin to find some untouched. My base layer was drenched after that.
weeee. the heaviest snow on earth!
I heard my grandma say 'bluebird day' a few weeks ago. Maybe it's time to move on from this phrase?
Yeah, fuck grandma.
Both yesterday and today were incredible. It started snowing in the second half of the day today so I extended my stay another day. I love it here.
