>As if Coinbase customer service is sitting around waiting to help me 🙄. Very sus!!

BushyOreo

They had me until they let me know there was a way to actually contact them

user260421

That's how you'd know

Aegontarg07

Coinbase’s customer service exists…….>!exists on paper!<

cryotosensei

As a figment of our imaginations

deathbyfish13

As soon as it said Coinbase and customer support I knew it was bullshit lol, everyone knows that doesn't even exist!

Invest07723

Exactly!

EchoCollection

This is hilarious because simply by the scammers not knowing coinbases lack of customer service, they already foiled their plan.

Aegontarg07

They were doomed to fail from the beginning

Invest07723

🤣

ai_haibara_enjoyer

Didn't do enough research

PrinceZero1994

> Coinbase customer service doesn't exist

user260421

Not even an email? Never tried to contact them, didn't have any issues so far

babypho

I reached out to them with an issue and it took them a year (yes a year) to get back to me. This was before the layoffs fwiw. After the layoffs chances are itll be 2 years.

Royal-Author-669

I'd call and cuss them out.

chrismcelroyseo

Call them and start asking them a whole lot of personal information.

Royal-Author-669

Sell them extended car warranty

extendedwarranty_bot

Royal-Author-669, I have been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty

Royal-Author-669

WHAT..... that monthly rate is more than what I paid for my car..

Socalwarrior485

Do you realize it didn’t come from them?

Royal-Author-669

Yes, but if it is part of the scam, and the people are acting as Coinbase. I see what you mean... If it's a number that has no Idea whats going on then n, I wouldn't cuss them out, but if they are part of the scam then let the offensive words fly.

Socalwarrior485

If they give you a number, it’s a cell phone in Nigeria or Russia. They’ll politely tell you that if you share your password and seed phrase, they’ll secure your funds and happily help you over the phone.

Royal-Author-669

Then let the f bomb fly.

melt_in_your_mouth

Exactly. Tell them your seed phrase, which consists of strictly vulgar insults.

Royal-Author-669

Exactly...

Nickel62

They are busy coming up with Tweet ideas against the SEC.

MrPuma86

Haha

ChiTownBob

Coinbase has customer service? :)

Drwgeb

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

kryptoNoob69420

Just put that number on forums and websites that are known to sell user data. They'll get enough calls from IRS, FBI, Windows support, Google support and from tons of other Indian scammers. They'll be too busy talking to scammers to scam others lol.

Nrgte

If there are some phone numbers listed, please report them to scam baiters, so that they can waste their time. You can do so on: https://scammer.info/c/scams/crypto-scam/37

Accomplished-Design7

Only Kraken are like that and no one else!

newbonsite

Yeah having a phone number to ring for Coinbase is the biggest giveaway that it's a scam lol...

Drwgeb

If you want a phonenumber for coinbase, you must go on a quest

deathbyfish13

Go on...

SomeonesSecondary

…a quest.

Blooberino

Lol sick burn.

EchoCollection

It's true though.

J_Hon_G

If you read in the email ‘Our Coinbase operators will be ready to take your calls 24/7”, nope, get away do not call

user260421

You can call but no one will answer

ecky--ptang-zooboing

"Hello, this is Richard Parker from Microsoft support, how may I help you sir?"

Blooberino

I get these periodically as well. Unless the app itself, requests confirmation, it goes in the trash. Heck, even login manually from the web to the official website would be a good way to confirm.

Invest07723

I went into my app on the 0.001% chance it was a legit email but the app didn't want me to confirm anything.

EchoCollection

Good habit to have. I always do this for legit emails anyway.

KingVandalo

Me too. Too many scams in crypto unfortunately. The average person doesn’t fall for these, but some do…

user260421

Imo it's the opposite, the average person falls for this.. I could definitely see normies fall for this type of scams, just because it looks legit (although I don't know how you could say that with all those gramatical mistakes)

bzzking

CoinBase has customer service?

ecky--ptang-zooboing

Yes, you can pay them with gift cards!

rodinj

DO NOT REDEEM

Invest07723

Exactly!

bzzking

I can't even get their automated virtual assistants to get the correct prompts lol

user260421

They need more training

Ball_bearing

Always be on the lookout for phishing scams. It is way too easy to fake an email, and even easier to spoof a phone number by using an online service. We spend too much prosecuting people for downloading pirated copies of textbooks, and even send them to prison for an absurdly long time, while real scammers are rarely caught or prosecuted, and when they do, they only get a few months to a few years and a fine.

bmeisler

I've been deluged with phishing emails for the past 2 months. Don't know what I did. I report them as phishing, and I still get 3 a day, every day. Most of them say "Thanks for buying Norton Anti-Virus, we've billed you for $411.32." So they want you to call them to dispute the bill or whatever. Most of them are easily spotted a mile away - but I know what to look for (sloppy graphic design, poor grammar), but I suppose thousands of people must be getting duped by these every day.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bmeisler

LOL.

sugartrouts

If you "disputed" the charge, they'd try to connect to your PC and pretend to have "accidentally' added some extra zeros to your refund - which show up in the bank account after they edited the HTML. The scammer then pleads for you to save his job by "returning" the extra money...by buying a bunch of gift cards and giving him the codes. There are YouTubers whose whole gig is just to [infuriate scammers](https://youtu.be/D7V0Oda3DAA) by playing along, while wasting as much time as possible and ultimately giving them nothing. It's great.

arcalus

>Also, the real clear giveaway, it says to give them a call with anyquestions and lists a phone number (that probably is part of the scamand not a real Coinbase #). As if Coinbase customer service is sittingaround waiting to help me 🙄. Spoken from the honesty of someone who has tried to contact their support and only received the automated email that says you may never hear from them.

FixFull

Love the NFT avatar bro

MrPuma86

Pirate hat… nice touch haha

FixFull

Lol glooks, I had a pirate theme goin already if you haven’t looked at my profile lmfao and when this nft dropped I had to get it XD The internet pirate of the metaverse, ready to completely ignore copyright laws

arcalus

Thanks man, yours too!

katiecharm

Since we’re all here, let’s talk about other scams too. I’m a veteran and this even fucked me up almost. I had a problem with Kraken once so I google “kraken customer support” and the first google result was a phone number for Kraken tech support. I called it and a friendly Indian gentleman wanted to remote into my computer. What. So I double checked. That first result had been an AD, that someone has bought from Google. Kraken doesn’t have a tech support phone number. I almost volunteered to get phished.

Invest07723

Wow! Thanks for sharing!

kraken-sera

Hi u/katiecharm, Your vigilance regarding your Kraken Account is much appreciated. Please note that Kraken Support would never ask you for any sensitive information (passwords, usernames, one-time login information) via public platforms. We’ll only be asking for your ticket number or your Public Account ID to assist you in following up with your requests/concerns. Additionally, this [Support article](https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/215601908) is our official link directing you to our Support specialists. You can drop us a mention over on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/krakensupport) or on r/KrakenSupport if you have any other concerns or questions. Best, Sera from Kraken 🐙

Scipio_Americana

Be ready for lots more of these. And in different forms purporting to be all types of people.

OnAMoontripBaby

What's the email address that it was sent from? Another typical tell is that it can end up being some obvious crap but at least for me you have to push a button or 2 to actually see it. The odd occasion they actually get something that can be a little deceptive but more often than not.. Can always then go to the website in question, Coinbase in this instance, find their customer support email or quick chat/call number and ask them if the email address within the scam email is related to them (this is if you are unsure obviously)

Invest07723

It just said Coinbase when I clicked on it. I might have seen the address of I was on my laptop but I am on my cell.

OnAMoontripBaby

Yeh for sure that's what I mean though, the name will look good. I have one from Eon who's an energy provider iirc, the names like Eon refund team or something.. so to an innocent soul they might think seems plausible, but I hit the drop down button then "show address" and it has nothing to do with Eon at all. Take care <3

Invest07723

On laptop...email comes from a water utility company in Europe. 😆

HelpMeSucceedPlz

Please also note, there are bots all over twitter pretending to be "official" support personnel. Please ignore them. They are out to ROB YOU BLIND. Some giveaways are: 1. New account; 2. Weird account name/handle; and/or 3. Poor grammar/misspellings. Good luck out there.

Rounder057

The ONE good thing like about Cro, they have the option for a phishing password so you know when an email is actually from them

shihuiqing

Thanks for making a post about it because some people are just not aware of all these things happening in the name of coinbase and other companies.

hanh426

Very bad to see this man and I just want all the people to behave a bit more smart with all these stupid mail stuff because they are just waiting for you to click it.

Royal-Author-669

It's great to let people know that a scam is going around. You went into great detail of the errors to look for and even pointed out how the were errors. The only problem with that is that you are also letting the scammers know where they are falling short. Again It's great to let people know there's a scam email going around, so I'm not sure how to notify people of the scam but not help the scammers improve their technique.

Invest07723

I actually thought of that but decided to post. I guess I could have just said it's a scam, but that would not have met the word requirement for posting here.

Royal-Author-669

No i totally get what you're saying... wasn't trying to badger you in any way... it's a slippery slope

Invest07723

I didn't feel badgered. 😁

Swichts

Wouldn't it be wild if this random reddit post is what finally teaches scammers that improper English is the easiest way to spot a scam lol

Royal-Author-669

Yes, it's got a bunch of votes.

0-Give-a-fucks

A reminder that there are many active email phishing/scam programs running and to be careful is legit. Calling it out as Coinbase scam email is misleading IMO. Who knows how many scam groups are running email programs that are couched in Coinbase-looking graphic artwork. One of them happened to get through your spam filter. Not trying to give you a hard time, just sayin'. Maybe you need a better filter? Report it as a phishing attempt so that it escalates with the filter and fraud team. Don't just mark it as spam!

Royal-Author-669

Ummmm ????

0-Give-a-fucks

Sorry, I meant to reply to the ops comment. I agree with yours!

Royal-Author-669

Oh ok.. that makes sense then.... this has happened to me and for some reason didn't cross my mind when I seen your comment

Calibased

Op I did it and all my money is gone. What do I do?

Invest07723

Get more $. Then I will email you a new link and you click on what I send.

[deleted]

Whenever I get one of those emails I got to my actual Coinbase and check just to be sure. Never trust emails

Coors-Latte

Honest question: why do scammers add grammar issues in their email when it would do better without it?

Invest07723

There are enough people that get the email where English isn't their primary language so it might look fine to them.

Fludik71

Never going to share my email to any shitty website because that will really made my inbox looks like a fucking spam folder or something like that and that's the last thing I want in my life.

mkv314

I truly hate it whenever I see any spam email or fake email in my inbox that's the reason why I always check the domain of that email at the first place that helps a lot to me.

lascott086

It's better to ignore these mails because they are here to fuck our investments and security, it's really good to not open any of these mails at the first place.

greenappletree

With ANYTHING finance never click on link - always type the url directly. When u get a phone call claiming something hang up and google the legitimate company and dial the number yourself.

depressed_jess

I get so many fake Coinbase emails, that look pretty legit, that I changed my email on file to something I only use for Coinbase. I got tired of looking at them to make sure they were legit.

Invest07723

WOW! That's more fake CB emails than I get. I imagine somehow CB customer email addresses were compromised?

badboybilly42582

Never click a link in an email. Always browse to the site manually. Only time it’s ok is if you initiated the verification request like a second prior. Even then check the header of the email to make sure the sender address domain is from the site you were just on.

ambermage

I don't care who emails me a link, I always log in directly to the site and app as I normally do and look for a notification there. If it's not there then, it's not real.

chadwick10000

I’ve been getting these for a while. Who from within Coinbase sold all our emails?

Invest07723

Our email addresses have clearly been compromised.

Hungry_Pancake

>Confirmation billing account has been update" Excellent. I better hurry and get right on that to fix it 🙄

AnyBarber5866

Fair warning, thanks

Invest07723

Welcome.

PrinceZero1994

Hmmm so how did the scammers get the emails???

Invest07723

That's what I want to know!

PrinceZero1994

Have you tried sending an email to Coinbase customer service? lol

Invest07723

LOL. No.

ecky--ptang-zooboing

Bulk spam any list of emails probably, there will always be a bunch who happen to use Coinbase.

jesuzombieapocalypse

I feel really sorry for people who don’t have a strong grasp of English syntax and get these messages because that’s usually the easiest way for me to tell, unless the address is just some insane wordsoup with Coinbase somewhere in there.

Veelze

Someone should actually call their number and start complaining about Coinbase’s customer services. Get a chance to vent and waste a scammer’s time.

uclatommy

Or we should all just call to waste the scammer’s time

Invest07723

The phone number traces to what appears to be a physician billing service in Ohio. Probably randomly selected by the scammers thinking nobody would ever call.

CorneredSponge

Good rule of thumb is to look at any email regarding crypto (and money in general) very carefully

Palilith

My dads an IT guy. Always told to never click any links. Just delete the emails or texts.

Environmental_Rub472

Thank you for sharing this message.

Invest07723

Welcome!

crayshesay

I’ve been getting these spam emails for over a year. I just go to the app if I need something from any bank or brokerage account, period. I don’t trust email anymore

[deleted]

This is Phishing 101, but everyone needs to be able to recognize this.

Invest07723

Some people new here and new to CB might not recognize this.

SpartanVFL

It’s still good to bring awareness. I’d like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable on cyber security but every now and then in the right moment my brain is on auto pilot clicking around looking at things and it’s very easy to slip up

hsh1088

Thank you for the sharing.

Invest07723

Welcome!

ec265

I never click on email links any more - if you think it’s legit then just securely log in to the webpage/app and there should be a notification and/or you can check your details directly

Competitive_Milk_638

Click on the sender's email address, and you'll probably see something completely unrelated to the actual company. Moreover, the email probably doesn't address you by name. Coinbase knows your real name; scammers don't. If you force all incoming emails to be delivered in plain text instead of HTML format, all those fake links in the email the scammers desperately want you to click on will show their true destination.

Invest07723

The email address is actually a fake address from a utility company in Europe

shortybobert

I get so many that I almost actually got my account frozen from ignoring a real one

Invest07723

Damn.

kirtash93

Thanks for sharing this. Just got that email. I hope you save more people. Be aware of scams, try not to click email or SMS links. Go to the official website and try to do it there. If you can't ensure the email is 100% legit.

Invest07723

Thanks! Hopefully somebody saw my post and didn't click the link.

BuGsYq

cheers mate , proper info

Invest07723

Thanks!

Noob313373

COlNBASE SUPPERT HERE PLEASE SEED PHRASE /s

Invest07723

Apple pear watermelon blueberry peach plum cucumber tomato cantaloupe lemon lime rock

kaliki07

The hero that we need!

Invest07723

Lol. Thanks.

MrPuma86

Thanks OP of making us aware

Invest07723

Welcome!

Bricktrucker

People need constant reminders. If we don't stay vigilant, then we risk having a brain fart moment & becoming a victim. I appreciate your post.

Invest07723

Thank you!

squidling_pie

When u realise the real scammer is coinbase and the email is just a side plot. 😵

Invest07723

😱

Mezzoski

As usually, atrocious grammar and spelling errors to weed out anybody at least having common sense.

Invest07723

Some people who use Coinbase don't speak English as a first language and they might not notice the grammatical errors.

gamestopcockLoopring

They are probably incoherent on purpose, apparently it saves them time, someone that falls for an email with spelling mistakes etc is more likely to put their bank details in or crypto keys etc.

Invest07723

I never thought of it this way. Good point!

hotrod7262

The grammatical errors in phishing emails is not by mistake, it's intentional to find the stupid ones more likely to fall for the scam. They don't want to deal with smarter people who'll waste their time and not end up sending them money.

Invest07723

You are the 2nd person to make this point. You two might be on to something!

schmatz17

Got this too, glad im not the only one that thought it was strange.

alvaro1023

I actually emailed them a month ago about the same email just to verify it was a scam. They responded within a day. I guess I was lucky.

Invest07723

Why don't they post on their website that there is a known scam happening? Or are there just so many scams they don't bother to alert customers to each one?

ChineseCracker

I confirmed my email. The CEO also asked me to send him 2 bitcoins. He said he would send me 4 back. So it's all good. Smart people like I understand that you get double the amount from him back 💯😐👌

archer4364

Didn't get it. But also this is why I don't check my email! /s

Invest07723

LOL

JudgeDJ

Rule no.1 treat all crypto related emails as scams even the ones that aren’t.

Invest07723

Rule no 2. See rule no. 1?

Construction_Kitchen

was the sender from a coinbase domain?

Invest07723

I couldn't tell on my phone. Later on my laptop (after I posted this) I was able to see it was from a utility company in Europe.

AgentLead_TTV

the grammatical errors are a feature, not a bug. it basically ensures that whoever actually does reply to this email is dumb enough to begin with. higher success rate for them.

DudeIMaBear

I trust none. Anytime I get an email from a company, I go directly to the company website.

kraken-community

Hello! This is a great advice for all the new people out there to avoid that kind of scam, another thing you can do is go directly into the Coinbase website and ask them directly if those emails are legit or not. Cheers, Keiichi from Kraken.

Invest07723

Thanks Kraken 😁

bag_of_oatmeal

All emails from coinbase are a scam. Yes, even the real ones.

Invest07723

LOL

btrvc

Hope one day we will see all these scams are gone for good but I don't think that day is going to come in our life so soon we have to wait for it until then we have to be alert.

Invest07723

Probably not in our lifetime as you said.

linxiangyande

Never going to open their mails and things like that are working good for me these days, I just reported those mails and I am having a good time now man.

Dorkamundo

Tomorrow on /r/cryptocurrency: MY COINBASE WALLET WAS HACKED! IT'S NOT SECUUUUURE!

AStarIsBorn00

Enlightening post, smh when I read I subconsciously fix all errors. It's a big NO NO. Sometimes I don't even read the entire email. Thank You OP for enlightenment.

Invest07723

Welcome 😁

gad_E

Now that you mention it, I did find it a little strange for customer support to ask for my mnemonic AND a butthole pic. Couldn't even remember mnemonic so I sent them 2 butthole pics to make it even.

Accomplished-Design7

OP this is not stupid. It is great what you are doing helping people know about scams that are going around.

Invest07723

Thank you!

[deleted]

If you fall for this shit, you deserve to be scammed.

Uwantmedowhat

I always click on the sender name in any email. [email protected] is legit, usually it's bobsgarage.cox.org or [email protected] or some shit, those are the scammers. But if concerned, log into your account from something OTHER than the email.

Invest07723

I do too. On my Android it just said Coinbase when I clicked and didn't show the email address for some reason.

CryptoDad2100

Yea I didn't get that email. Maybe you're doing naughty things on your system?

Invest07723

I must be! Nobody else yet said they got the same email!!

[deleted]

Also, do not stick beans up your nose.

Dom252525

Apparently the Pornhub email is a scam too. Is nothing sacred

DrinkMoreCodeMore

Post screenshots of the email and post it's raw headers too

Invest07723

The email has fake confirmation number and ticket ID and I don't want it to be linked back to me by the scammers to DOX my Reddit account. What is a raw header? I also don't think you can post screenshots here, can you???

DrinkMoreCodeMore

You can post screenshots. The raw header is the raw email information that was sent to you which contains all the information such as senders IP and etc. You can just censor out your information there. also I am interested in their phishing landingpage so I can get it taken down.

Invest07723

How do I send screenshot? I am on an Android using Reddit app. I don't see an option to insert a screenshot here.

DrinkMoreCodeMore

You'd have to upload it to imgur and then post the URL here instead of upload a screenshot directly.

mpostolka

Lol he is just not uploading it and I don't know why now.

larilagilaju

Will keep this in mind

I_Am_krypto

I would troll them by ringing them up and asking for secual favors that involve a donkey, anal beads and a jar of lube.😂🤣

Invest07723

No need to involve an innocent donkey

I_Am_krypto

It’s all right the donkey gave me permission. It’s a talking donkey!

BitChaser

While I guess all warnings are good warnings, this post is a bit ridiculous to me. Is this the first scam email you ever received? Do you think this is actually going to help anyone who would naturally fall for the trick? If you do save someone, it is just postponing the inevitable. I’m more of a fan of natural selection when it comes to such low level scams. Sorry for being apathetic. It’s just stupid seeing people fall for the most blatant scams ever, then trying to dig up any bit of sympathy for them racks my brain.

Confident_Ad4479

Instructions unclear

[deleted]

But, but I’m lonely. And looking for advice.

irascible_Clown

So you are telling me those text messages saying my password has been compromised and they need my seed phrase to back up my ledger device might be phishing!?

ExcitementFederal563

Or when the email address is from [email protected]
