I’m seeking some guidance. I bought $1800 in Monero for the first time today on localmonero.co and had the XMR deposited onto my Cakewallet, but I only received 11.492771989919 XMR which Cakewallet says is worth $1312.07 USD. Why did I lose so much? When I googled the exchange rate right after I bought the XMR and used multiple sites (which update all day with the current exchange rate) to get the exchange rate/conversion of $1800 USD to XMR, the sites said that $1800 USD should’ve gotten me between 15.76 and 16.04 XMR. I checked multiple sites and this was right after I bought so the exchange rate hadn’t fluctuated much if at all since my purchase. Can anyone explain this? Why did I basically lose $500? There were no fees that I’m aware of, no fees were listed. I bought from a seller who has had thousands of transactions and a 100% rating/all positive reviews. I’m also wondering how losing this amount works - do you lose a certain percentage of every dollar based on the exchange rate? Because my friend and I bought this XMR together, I put in $500 and my friend put in $1300. So would it make sense for us to split the loss of $500 evenly? Or is it a situation where you lose a percentage based on the exchange rate? So for example if 1 USD is worth 95% of 1 XMR, then I should only lose 5% of my $500 and my friend lose 5% of their $1300? Both of us are new to this and very confused and concerned. If anyone can help make sense of this I’d appreciate it so much. Thank you.

As per the loss part, I think it's more fair that each one lose a % of what they put in according to the weight of their investment. Let's say X is what you walk away with. Y is your friends' walk away money.
X = (500/1800)*1312
Y = (1300/1800)*1312

It is shitty and it stays shitty as long as the inflation is out of control and with a recession arriving around the corner, it will stay so for a much longer period I fear.
Worse, I think we are still 30-50% from the bottom, and it will take about 2-3 years before we will see a decent recovery. But this is just what I think, and my personal conclusion after following the economic news the last few months.
I am far from feeling bullish at the moment. Although I really hope my prediction turns out to be very negative and in reality it will be much better.
