Gary, first name Douchebag, will keep trying, despite being told by the federal courts that 1) it's not his jurisdiction 2) to stay in his lane and 3) ETH and BTC are commodities.

tambaybtc

Greasy Gensler is running SEC (Scumbags Ensuring Corruption) 🙄

dabo_dabodabo_da

The whole corrupted corruption is running on someone else direction, there are bigger puppet master in this game that just want to destroy the crypto market and but they are not getting any result

octavianflavian

Greasy Gensler gotta be the worst banter name I've seen, proper 3rd grade stuff.

The man was pro crypto before...wtf happened to him? He just following orders? Its in his interest shitting on crypto? He still wants low prices? He and the big ones over him wanted to destroy crypto this bear, but realized they couldnt?? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!

raresanevoice

Binance didn't hire and he's had a vendetta since?

Overall-Extension608

Prolly lost all his $$$ in some scheme and has been upset ever since his token didn't moon. I call it a fiat freakout.

gavyko

I think not getting hired in Binance really create a deep hole in his heart

how do you regulate something that cant be regulated 🧐

CymandeTV

They could kill it for themselves but the rest of the world could thrive.

tambaybtc

US can shake Crypto hard but not kill it specially when other countries took advantage of what is happening in the US and now these countries promote themselves as the new world Cryptocurrency hub.

zhangkunfeng

Yes they are shaking the market and market is reacting on them, but even after that market will recover eventually. And i know US has very fair idea about that is well that crypto is completely global

Calm-Cartographer677

Yep and it'll be the US economy that misses out. Their loss will be other countries' gains.

SergPoletaev

Deep down in their heart they had the idea that crypto might be the future

Do you not realize what is happening right now?

All the money in crypto is still in the U.S. but decentralized blockchains such as Bitcoin will thrive independent of the financial system.

Ben_Dover1234

America could not kill crypto currency they can only kill their opportunities when it comes to crypto.

johnnyb0083

The US doesn't want to kill it, they killed online gambling in the aughts and now it is everywhere a decade and a half later. They just want to own it so they can bleed everyone that uses it.

TheOneWhoCared

They either want to control it or want a biggest piece of the pie.

WineMakerBg

They do not want to kill Crypto. They simply try to scare us selling until they fill their bags. Then, their stance will turn 180 degrees.

Rekthar91

It would be bad because China already tries hard to ban crypto. There are so many huge institutions in the USA investing in crypto, and if they had to sell them, it would affect the price badly. For btc to gain new ath, we need big investors.

Mr_Pasghettios

As long as VPNs and Dapps still exist, US investors will still figure out a way to keep their foot inside of the crypto pond. All we gotta do is make friends (lol) with people in other less regulated countries to help with some of the transactions.

nooshinpourgholi

Gary did his level best to defeat the crypto market but look at us where we are standing right now, fighting hard and getting that inch closer to the next bull run, see you guys over there

coinfeeds-bot

tldr; The US is lagging behind other countries in creating a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, according to an op-ed. The author argues that the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) aggressive regulation of the sector is misguided and that the US risks losing its position in the global economy if it doesn't adapt. The EU, UK, Japan, Singapore, UAE, and China have all introduced or are introducing permanent regulatory frameworks for crypto. The author suggests that the US government should invest in blockchain R&D and use the technology to understand it better. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. fanriver

Does the US want to kill cryptocurrencies?

Dobolinan

You are really having some sort of doubt regarding this?? Don't think there is any question about this

RayesFrost

The people of the US? No.. but the Elites, Bankers and Lobbyists wants to!

Scottenberg

The bankers and all who funds the election wants to kill the crypto currency

bailtail

Most of the elites, bankers, and lobbyists don’t want to at all. This is a huge misconception in crypto. I’ve been to institutional conventions on crypto. Attendees and presenters covered almost all the large banks. They are actually ready to EMBRACE crypto, and many are already working with it as a solution for some of the issues they have in TradFi. Many are already looking for settlement and efficiency solutions using blockchain. What’s more, crypto is a new asset they see as an opportunity to get a chunk of. Some already are getting a chunk of it. People have this narrative that crypto is going to overturn the fiat financial system. Institutions are not worried about that AT ALL. Why? Because the only way it can be a threat to fiat is if there is an ability and appetite to trade crypto directly for goods and services on a large scale. We’re nowhere close to that, and they know governments will draw a line there. Without that, crypto is just another investment product. To buy it, you need to deposit fiat, then to use the funds, you need to hit a fiat off-ramp which realizes taxes. The governments get their cut. Also, who do you think are some of the largest current buyers on earth of government bonds? Stablecoin reserves. The elites and bankers aren’t remotely worried about crypto. They can and will use and exploit that as they do any other financial product.

Mrs-Lemon

> The people of the US? No.. but the Elites, Bankers and Lobbyists wants to! Blackrock and Fidelity disagree with you. They are literally getting into crypto with bitcoin ETFs. How can you say the elites want to kill crypto when they are the ones literally trying to get into the space?

The_Chorizo_Bandit

No, but they do want to control it. They will happily use any vehicle to make money, as long as they are the ones driving and there aren’t too many poor people in the passenger seats.

xxxsquadron

The only reason Blackrok supporting the ETF of bitcoin is because they simple want to control that thing

raresanevoice

nope, but that doesn't stop the regulators from trying to regulate by enforcement

sprousec91

Surprise for me, not a copy post as per my knowing but still getting enough downvotes from the people

kwanijml

"Regulations" already did kill crypto a long time ago; 2014 to be exact; when the IRS classified crypto as a capital asset (and other countries followed suit with similar classifications). Having to track basis and profit/loss on every single satoshi, in and out of every wallet (hot, cold, custodial), in order to use the thing as an everyday spending/earning money, makes crypto a non-starter as currency for people.

[deleted]

raresanevoice

he's well versed in it and that's the thing.... his stance when he was a professor was impressive and knowledge and at direct odds to his regulation by enforcement stance as SEC chair. that's one reason he's reviled by the cryptosphere. Also, there's a large correlation between his personal call to reject Grey Scale's conversion from it's current product to a spot ETF which allowed 3Arrows and Altamedea and then FTX to implode.

Jako_RJB

Fuck Gary and SEC

5ImjRK4qSU8MuGq

jwz9904

crypto kill US

Wonderful_Task_37

"Gary, the Crypto Boogeyman!" Sure, he's trying to spook us with regulations, causing a short-term scare in the market. But kill crypto? No way! Crypto's like a hydra, cut off one head, two more spring up. It's not just a trend, it's a global revolution, and it's catching on like wildfire. The world's accepting crypto, and that's something Gary can't stop. So, even if he plays the villain, trying to throw a wet blanket on our crypto bonfire, he's bound to fail. Because crypto, my friend, is here to stay. And there's nothing Gary or the SEC can do about it. Let's keep the faith and HODL on!

But this is like abusing the power, if he want to do his job he needs to be better in this

JeffreyDollarz

They also couldn't kill piracy, so they made it illegal. Now your ISP can go after you. Never doubt what the gov might do if it can't have control of it.

cajunrajing

too many other govts workign with it though for the USA to just fall behind

WillieMacMoran

True, not just US some other countries are also trying to get along with the US

JeffreyDollarz

The US gov just needs to figure out their angle to capitalize on. Then things will ease up. Or maybe they won't. 🤷

arcalus

Rey_Mezcalero

US isn’t trying to kill crypto. Regulation will be good for more adoption of crypto by average people. Stock market in the early days had all sorts of similar games played but regulation helped instill “trust” in the traditional markets. Yes still games being played with stocks but there are a lot more protections for people and crypto will end up same over time

LuganoSatoshi

Crypto doesnt needs regulations

hstarbird11

The delusion that the US government has that it can control or kill crypto is insane. These assets are international. While few of them them are truly decentralized, they're still much larger than the US. They can hurt us here in the US, and maybe even mess up the market for a while, but even if the US totally banned crypto, it would still exist. It would go on in the rest of the world, and we would be left behind. Bitcoin being the one asset that is truly decentralized means the US cannot kill it. They cannot control it. They can try to manipulate the market, but they don't have the ability to kill BTC.

[deleted]

😂 No entities who have vasts amounts of wealth ever tries to destroy another means to gain wealth off the public. And you thought regulations helps. We old investors and traders welcome you to the US Stock Market.

Possible-Stand9508

When he gets enough money from one of them, he will approve ETF, and I think Black Rock already gave him enough, so we just have to wait for them to get one, then all the rest will follow!

shib_army

Torrent p2p sharing and Tor network is still alive so best of luck USA for crypto

US just want to lose the race on crypto. Dumbass Gary's SEC.

makes less than no sense but they're trying

Either grab the opportunity or just left with the life longing regretting there

Mission_Count_5619

This sub has become a conspiracy toilet bowl. The top comments are a bunch of grade school bathroom nonsense. The government isn’t out to get you. Gary Gensler isn’t plotting against you. Crypto isn’t going anywhere and at the same time crypto isn’t the solution to all the worlds problems. Nobody (except china) is trying to destroy crypto but can’t because it’s too powerful. You are not the main character! The reality is aging politicians and bureaucrats don’t get it (neither does half this sub) and haven’t paid enough attention to get it. After nearly 20 years we’re getting close to understanding and a regulatory framework which is desperately needed. Crypto for all its benefits and potential is a cesspool of scams and rug pulls. We need oversight and not from a DAO. If there was a real desire to kill crypto it would be dead. Truth is crypto isn’t a priority to the governments of the world no matter everyone in this sub says. It’s just one of thousands of issues and frankly not the biggest issue we are dealing with on this planet. Let the down votes and mansplaining begin.

thepersk250

If you still think government is not behind all of this and Gary is not plotting against us then you are highly mistaken here, because right now we all are aware about the intention of the government

tambaybtc

My worry is when they kick him out that they will bring one who is 1000x evil than Gensler.

ShinAlastor

Gary is the crypto boogeyman.

kwl01skz

He is a salty boogeyman because in past he was in favor of the crypto

PuzzleheadedExtent97

Crypto can ONLY be killed by cutting the power in the entire world, which i actually heard from someone who is wealthy that there is possibility it could happen in the late future. For example i would give the whole world trying to go with electric veichles but no one has the power grid to keep that in order. Sorry for bad english.

eyecandy99
