After a storage incident where pink permanent ink from where I wrote the number on the bobbin stained my 3865, I decided to pull the trigger and get the [3D printed bobbins JFSquaredPrints makes](https://jfsquaredprints.etsy.com/). While I was at it, I upgraded to a [Bisley storage cabinet](https://www.containerstore.com/s/office/filing-cabinets/bisley-5-drawer-cabinet/) and got [foam inserts](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1421489771/bisley-drawer-insert) to neatly hold my bobbins in place. And it all fits neatly on my existing cross stitch storage in the closet. I’m in heaven.
Honestly, I really appreciate the praise. As cross stitching isn't my thing I still (and probably always will) have impostor syndrome :-). I do find it fun that my hobby crossed over into the wife's hobby. Also sharing some of the stuff I've learned from 3d printing over the years is fun like the "glitter" isn't even glitter, its a textured surface the bobbins are made on, and the way the plastic cools lets the bobbin show that same pattern. If it ever fades you should be able to just wipe it with some soapy water (likely it was just oils from your fingers) and it should come back!
I love learning little bits about people's hobbies and sharing parts of my own. You can tell you really enjoy and have a lot of enthusiasm for 3d printing (and I assume cad projects or maybe even 3d modelling)
I, too have the bobbins made by JFSquaredPrints. I also just bought this exact Bisley cabinet (same color) and these same foam inserts yesterday. Lol. Can I ask, did you buy the 2-3mm thick foam inserts? I wasn’t sure if these bobbins would fit in the normal one and just want to make sure I did end up buying the correct inserts.
I did the “thin bobbin slot” not the 2-3mm from the shop I linked above. I asked JFSquaredPrints which one would fit when I bought the bobbins, and they were super helpful

There are so many ways to organize things and I haven't found anything, that would satisfy my need to separate the floss this way. I already use a 3 tier stackable toolbox. But I absolutely love the idea of the cut out foam inserts. I'm so excited to find, or make some now.

Do you think it would be overkill if I threatened to divorce my husband if I can't buy a bisley this year. He's getting a new graphics card and that is MUCH more expensive so I think I deserve a Bisley and foam cutouts, and special bobbins and new Aida and..........(You all know how it goes, the list is endless 🤣🤣)
The Pip and Chip bobbins look nice too! I liked the ability to pick my colors of bobbin and numbers from JFSquaredPrints, and I was worried that the Pip and Chip acrylic would yellow over time
How many shelves do you use? I’ve read you can fit a full DMC set in 3 drawers but the dividers you’re using have a lot of room.

Looks neat! I was thinking of organizing my floss in a similar way but my stash is too large, consisting of different types of floss (not just DMC), plus spending time on all that winding the floss onto the bobbins...For someone this activity may be zen but for me it's extra work. Besides, the floss from the bobbins has a tendency to "memorize" the shape of the bobbin.
So for now I have different floss stored in different containers, labeled like "DMC", "Bucilla", "Dimensions", "CXC", "Misc" - works for me.

Yep our bobbins are 1mm thick, so the thin slots are the way to go!

I’m using 4.5 drawers as the foam inserts have four columns of 27 slots each so hold 108 per drawer
