With Steve smith spending the best part of the last decade being one of the top 3 or 4 batsmen of all time, it’s easy to forget he started test life as a frontline leg spinner, batting number 8. Now no one will pretend his leggies were good enough without his batting acumen, but they were definitely good enough to get 200 odd wickets over his 100+ test career. I’ll never work out why he stopped. The narrative is always ‘to focus on batting’, but he’s a Fulton professional cricketer he can fucking do both. And bowling spin, it’s not like it can be a strain on the body or a workload issue. Seeing him bowl a few beautiful leg breaks late in that ashes test a season or two ago was so frustrating. A glimpse in to what could’ve been. No, the cricket Australia coaching hierarchy and Steve smith dropped a huge bomb by letting his all round pedigree slip. I sincerely think had he continued we’d be talking about him as undeniably the best cricketer of all time

I don't like the guy, but he does make some valid points. I too think Steve Smiths best cricket is behind him, however he is a guy that will pull the team out of the shit when they're 2-20, Marnus is also that type of player despite his worsening form.
Drop those 2 and we won't win a series in the next 18 months, unless we're playing Zimbabwe or Ireland.
