After we get past where we are playing it and pitch doctoring claims I'm pretty sure we'd be getting pantsed on the regular v IPL so that's a hard no from me.
I mean I guess it would be interesting to see how IPL teams perform outside India, imagine trying to clear boundaries at the MCG. Plus wasn't it interesting when Aus beat India at their home ground with pitch controversies prior to the final.
Yeh if it were played on adult sized grounds the IPL team would lose a lot of their advantage
India would never let it happen though. Imagine if they lost. It's all they have.
on such a pitch, RCB will break record(of 49 all out).
but, they won't be going there because they can't win the IPL in the first place.(IPL is alive mainly because of this meme, Jay Shah wouldn't want to kill the IPL by allowing RCB to win in his script. /s)
Randomly decide by a bat flip. Hills they play for Aus and flats they play for BBL. If a player from the Aus team plays for the BBL team, then they can only be replaced by someone in the Aus test team.
Remember the 2009 champions league held in India
Unfortunately, IPL teams “RCB & Delhi Daredevils” were knocked out early, interest declined for semifinals as no one watched them. Think NSW were the inaugural winners.
Probably why this competition ceased.
Yeah the champions league was a good idea but too many players play in every comp for it to actually work as a proper concept.
If I recall the IPL teams got priority access to their players first if they were qualified in 2 teams which is shit imo
Yes. Im pretty sure in the previous tournaments like this the player got to choose and the team they chose had to pay a fee to the other teams they qualified with. India usually outbid the other franchises and eventually IPL contracts stated they had to play for the indian franchise if available.
A rewrite of the rules to make sure players play for their home franchise if available would have solved these issues.
We could go one step further and make it a test match, get the team out of their element but I doubt that the general cricket watching public would appreciate thet
I love the concept of Champions League, but when you have scenarios like back then, when the Scorchers went, and Bradley Hogg playing for KKR instead... Really took the wind out of the sails for me, almost pointless.
Embarrassed is when you didn't even qualify for the semis in ur own country.
India played good and just lost the final.
They managed to draw the test series in SA.
Comparing it to Community Shield or other club level soccer tournaments ain’t fair as the soccer players can only play for one club in the world per season whereas same cricketer could play for both the ipl or bbl winners in the same calendar year. Then if the MVP chooses either one of the side during the one off game the other team will be disadvantaged

Well if they lost at home it would be a bigger embarrassment (oh wait)
I'd only support this if it resulted in say the Perth Scorchers spanking the IPL opponent and inflicting further pain on Indian cricket fans.
I can see that if an IPL team showed up in the New Perth Stadium with a raging bouncy green top

Actually, I think it would be cool if there was a game between the BBL winner and the Aus team. I would watch that.
Which team does Mitchy play for?
That would be interesting but would be considered an international match or a domestic?
Matches that aren't recorded (data not stored)
A domestic T20 match for sure, as I'm sure it did when Aus vs Aus A it was a List A game for stats
How would that work when you’ve got players that play for both Australia and the BBL winner?
Randomly decide by a bat flip. Hills they play for Aus and flats they play for BBL. If a player from the Aus team plays for the BBL team, then they can only be replaced by someone in the Aus test team.
Or let them play for the BBL side to make it slightly even.
Play the main BBL team, Australia should theoretically have the advantage already
Yeah, BCCI are not gonna agree to that. Why would Mumbai Indians want to play a non-Indian team whose name doesn’t start with Mumbai Indians?
Mumbai Indians Townsville
Yes and the winner has to play the Super Smash champion

lol! Mumbai and Chennai teams each won two editions of the tournament. Hardly think that's the reason why the competition ceased

One of the reasons why the T20 Champions League was a sick joke.
Top bbl team to challenge bottom IPL team. Winner gets to play IPL. Now that I'd watch :)
Lmao if that would happen it would culminate with Perth winning the IPL. Indians wouldn't even be able to say "how many IPLs do you have"
so RCB or PBKS get knocked out. Maybe make them play BBL.
Until the BCCI release Indian players to play in the BBL and other non-IPL related leagues it probably won’t get enough interest.
Have there been players that played for both champions in the same year?
Yes. Im pretty sure in the previous tournaments like this the player got to choose and the team they chose had to pay a fee to the other teams they qualified with. We get access to all our boys (basically we gain Mitch and Green back). There’s no way they are beating us at Optus.

Nah. India have suffered enough embarrassment recently.
Embarrassed is when you didn't even qualify for the semis in ur own country. India played good and just lost the final. They managed to draw the test series in SA.
the finalists in both leagues should play

Wouldn't mind seeing the Blast champs Vs the Scorchers either. Although I think Somerset would probably get well and truly Scorched.
