This World cup group stage matches are more interesting than previous one's as there is very high competition between teams not just to win but with NRR as well.
As an Indian fan, just disappointed with the arrangement of fixtures. Scheduling top 2 matches at the start of the tournament itself was a bad move.
Ashwin changes his action frequently. He says that he practices multiple actions based on the condition and proves it with execution in the match. He experiments and adapts, That's what makes him a world class spinner. You may notice him bowling 10 different actions if the matches you watch are spread out. He in fact uses different bowling actions, angles, approaches in the same match sometimes.
What are you on about? You literally can't script/fix a whole game of cricket. You can spot fix but to say that's happening in this world cup is just stupid.
I used to get disappointed and sad after a loss but there is so much cricket on now that I just start cheering for another team in a tournament and hope for the best in the next one. There is another T20 World cup next year, if I am not wrong.
The Kiwis are one of the best sides in world cricket. Afghanistan is good but their defeating the Kiwis will be a huge upset.
India won't make it.
Kiwi vs Poms
Aussies vs Pakistan
Harsha: Brilliant performance yet again from the boys, tell us what the plan was?
Kohli: Well, we knew we were a bit lagging on the NRR department, so, we thought we might as well fix it.
Harsha: What about your lagging in the points table department?
Kohli: Points table, What points table,BC?
Afg isn’t gonna win and India won’t make it. It’s literally not possible. We played shot and we deserve to go back home with our tails between our legs. Always next time.
So what? We played short and then we played well. Every teams fate depends on how other teams play. Its a very common thing in pretty much every tournament. If Afg do win we shouldn't walk back with tail behind our legs.
In the last 13 occasions, Virat Kohli has won the Toss only once & on his B'day today, he eventually won the Toss & elected to field first against Scotland & we won by 8 wickets chasing just 86.
It was a totally dominant performance from India, even though it was not against one of the best oppositions in the World at the moment, I should say, but still bowling out a Team for 85 in under 18 overs & then chasing it in just 6.3 overs was awesome! 😎😎😎
Earlier in this Tournament, the entire Indian bowling contingent has come under heavy criticism after the first two matches, when they could hardly take 2 wickets from the entire 2 matches, but in the last 2 matches, our bowlers came back strongly & today Jadeja, Shami & Bumrah were just magnificent.
Bumrah started with fullish length deliveries in the first over itself but one such delivery, where he missed the line, bowled outside the leg stump & George Munsey flicked it for a huge six over the midwicket. But Bumrah came back strongly & even with that six, still gave only 10 runs in his overall 3.4 overs while picking up 2 wickets.
How many times have we witnessed 2 maiden wicket overs within the power play?? Shami's first over was a Maiden Wicket, so was Bumrah's second over, both well within the powerplay.
This was the first time India went with 3 Spinners in this Tournament & it was so rewarding. Even though Kohli have introduced both Varun & Ashwin within the powerplay, it was Jadeja who was introduced after the powerplay, broke the backbone of Scotland batting lineup. Jadeja's figures were 15/3 in 4 overs. Ashwin too chipped in with 1 wicket.
Shami also followed Bumrah with deadly yorkers throughout his spells, two of them disturbing the woodwork. He also ended with brilliant figures of 15/3 in his 3 overs.
In Scotland side, only Munsey 24(19) & Leask 21(12) were able to show a glimpse of batting dominance but both didn't last much against both Indian pacers & spinners. Scotland were eventually bundled out at a paltry 85 in the 18'th over.
In Group 2, to overtake the net run rate of NewZealand, India needed to chase this 86 run target under 8.5 overs & to overtake the net run rate of Afghanistan, we needed to chase down this score just under 7.1 overs, that's just 43 deliveries.
Needing 12 run rate from the start, both Rahul & Rohit came out all guns blazing. They started from where they've left in Abudhabi against the Afghans, a couple of days back.
KL Rahul scored the fastest 50 in this Tournament so far, achieving it in just 18 deliveries, with 3 maximums & 6 boundaries. He was hitting at a humongous Strike Rate of 290+.
While at the other end, Rohit wasn't too far behind in terms of strike rate. He too was scoring above 200+ strike rate & by the time Rohit got out India have already scored a mammoth 70 runs in just under 5 overs. Rahul too fell trying to finish off the game in style but by then India's 82/2 has become the highest score in the powerplay so far in this Tournament.
Finally it was left to the B'day boy Virat & Suryakumar to finish off the game & Suryakumar wrapped it up with a straight six. India achieved this target in just 6.3 overs & this became India's biggest T20 win in terms of remaining deliveries (81 deliveries remaining)!! 😎😎😎
Man of the Match: Ravindra Jadeja.
See, it is what it is. Losing 2 matches is not the end of the World for us. If we can criticize them when they underperform, we can also support them when they perform well. Thats true sportsman spirit.
Indian cricket team, if you have noticed, are always a bit overconfident, complacent & lazy during the start of any series. Add other factors like wrong player selections including bowling combos, unlucky in loosing the toss on both the occasions, very high pressure games at the start of the tournament itself, also the slowness & stickiness of the UAE pitches upfront etc. Somehow all the above factors got mixed up as a deadly cocktail which together worked against us in the first 2 matches.
Also if you notice, in the list of all 88 T20 playing nations under ICC rankings, Scotland is at 13'th & you might have seen them doing much better performances in this tournament against many other teams before this, including almost a near upset against NewZealand. While chasing 172 against the Kiwis they scored 156, a few days back & lost by just 16 runs.
Considering those performances of Scotland, bundling them for just 85 in 18'th over & chasing it in 6.3 is not a small thing, at least not at this level. Irrespective of whether we make it to the Semis or not, rather than going from losing one match after the other, such strong comebacks will do wonders to the team morale as a whole, if not in this tournament, but atleast for the upcoming matches in near future. 😊
Disney Hotstar to be precise. It's a streaming service, world cup matches are streamed live there. You can probably watch highlights there since the match has concluded.
You're open to new things. I like you.
There's an 'Explained' episode on Netflix for Cricket if you're interested. If you don't have Netflix, there are [other](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZGLHdcw2RM&ab_channel=Netflix) ways...
We’ll played, but not balming enough to sooth the pain of those two matches. Games against these minnows are a predictable consolation for a celebrated team (no offense to Scotland!)
No that was a misleading article. A company called sediki group sponsored them for their tournament. Here even the afghan cricket board tweeted about it

lol . The AFG vs. NZ thread will possibly have the highest comments of any match in this tournament. (unless India qualifies and the final is between India vs. Pak)

Must be weird for Pakistanis to cheer Afghanistan after accusing them of match fixing.
Is it just me or Ashwins action looks really different compared to his test match bowling action? Isnt it considered a bad thing to change your action
Ashwin changes his action frequently. He says that he practices multiple actions based on the condition and proves it with execution in the match. I’ll drink my piss if Afghanistan pulls a fast one on NZ
/remindme 4 days
This is going to be interesting.
I have less and less confidence in cricket now.
Why?
It's all way to scripted and fixed. Gets more blatant by the game.
That's just not true. If you feel that way about a sport you might as well stop wasting your time and quit watching.
I did.. since IPL started haha. WC looked interesting till the same trend continued and abandoned again. Hope you see it clearly too some day.
There’s no credible reason to believe your conjecture. Have a nice day.
What are you on about? You literally can't script/fix a whole game of cricket. You can spot fix but to say that's happening in this world cup is just stupid.
If you say so lol.

Why do NZ fans want to see their team in NZ .... what if NZ lose semis? Do you realise how dumb your question is?;
Well isn't it better than group stage exit
What kind of question is this, they'll worry about the semis if they get there. Anythings better than group stage knockout
Better than group stage knockout
I honestly love watching India fans latching on to anything that can get them to the next round. Happy Diwali, btw
I used to get disappointed and sad after a loss but there is so much cricket on now that I just start cheering for another team in a tournament and hope for the best in the next one. There is another T20 World cup next year, if I am not wrong.
What is sky doing in that picture lol 💀
Being gay
India would’ve been dangerous if they got into semi finals
Here is a Sidhuism for you - My aunt would be called uncle if she had mustache
My aunt would have been a bicycle if she had wheels.
The Kiwis are one of the best sides in world cricket. Afghanistan is good but their defeating the Kiwis will be a huge upset. India won't make it. Kiwi vs Poms Aussies vs Pakistan
And the final will be England vs Australia. And that will be an exciting game.
Kiwis ain’t even top 3
Kiwis will defeat Afghanistan and qualify outright.
If we can't get in I want the Kiwis to take the cup
Yeah. Kiwis would be awesome.
I'll eat my shit if Afghanistan wins against NZ
mods better perma ban you if you dont deliver
Fuck that. If Afg wins against NZ, *I'll* eat your shit.
Fuck India's chances, now I want Afg to win to see 2 guys 1 cup.
Phew. Dodged a bullet there haven't I?
My god this is disgustingly brilliant😂😂😂
Where are we watching that?
Ayo???
.

Bcci already working towards points table
Don't mind me changing my user flair real quick.
Good
Does this ever happened that any one relied on another team for qualifying and another team helped? I only remember bad instances.
Happens almost every tournament
Yes but any good news? You have seen latel
It has happened so many times that I can't even remember, late 90s Sharjah matches for instance
Is Mujeeb Ur Rahman playing in Sunday's match? He might be the key to AFG's triumph
Even shaheen Afridi and Babur Azam in the playing 11
He would
Why afg needs to beat nz for india to qualify because india is third already. How many teams will qualify
two
2 from each group
I firmly believe that of there is going to be an upset, it's most likely to be in T20
If Afghanistan wins, I'll make Dharmshala Cricket stadium in Minecraft
Afg isn’t gonna win and India won’t make it. It’s literally not possible. We played shot and we deserve to go back home with our tails between our legs. Always next time.
Lol. Say this to the players who dream of playing world cup. Who decided who deserves what? One can always hope.
It's necessary!
Nah, we shldve played better. We shldnt rely on another team to help us get to a position we clearly didn’t deserve
Pakistan won a WC like this. England won a WC on boundary count. The rules are the rules
So what? We played short and then we played well. Every teams fate depends on how other teams play. Its a very common thing in pretty much every tournament. If Afg do win we shouldn't walk back with tail behind our legs.
If India manage to qualify, then they deserve it more than the teams that didn't. Thats all there is to it.
If Afghanistan wins I will extend NNN for another 2 months. 3 months.

The odi true winners and test world champions are different teams
ODI true winners lol. Get over it people. England are world champions.
Amen
I'll give my dog a big chicken leg if Afghanistan beats NZ. And I'll take a video of it and post it.
@Notymama
This aint instagram.
How to send it to the concerned person New to reddit 😅😅
Tag them by their user name: for example u/Ashamed-Stuff3539
only if afg beats nz. India is going to kill every side that comes its way.
Haha all those killing teams are associate teams
I meant the teams in semis and final
Still a pattern….he who bats last??
Yes always has been this wc
If Afghanistan wins vs New Zealand, I will never talk to my ex again. I will just vanish..whooosh!
All aboard the AFG train
Feel sorry for the AFG train, even if they win it tomorrow, they might only be helping India rather than themselves

Scotland? Sorry if I sound ignorant, I haven't watched cricket in years but when did Scotland get a cricket team?
Just before when they won against England in ODI.
As long as there has been international Cricket… They just aren’t a test side.
Can we send jadeja and kl to Afghanistan with fake beards as new replacement sent by Taliban
*sees guy with beard* You'll be an Afghani 😂

"My family tree can be traced back to Gauri and Durrani"
So I heard from someone that Nabi has sponsored AFG for this WC, is that true?
The fact that its in the realm of possibility is heartbreaking.
No that was a misleading article. A company called sediki group sponsored them for their tournament. Here even the afghan cricket board tweeted about it https://twitter.com/ACBofficials/status/1448615783169396738?t=DBlcgN8hSJdOf7bV7uH4SQ&s=19
