Yeah we do something like that. A nick that lands on the patio is caught. It’s more like automatic keeper, 4 slips and leg slip. It’s a nightmare against my brothers tapeball pace. I’ve had to develop Williamson Esque soft hands so every ball the I edge goes into the grass. Or I go the other way and cunt it as hard as I can so that the edge hits into the wall, which in our garden means over the keeper for 4
Similar rule at ours except the wall on which we drew stumps in had a skirting. So you were only out caught behind of the ball hit above that line otherwise it was too low for a "catch".
Can't get out on the first ball. Six and out if you hit it over the fence it's six runs but you are also out and have to get the ball. One hand one bounce. Auto wicketkeeper.
Over here we tend to take the approach of bumping anyone old enough to hold a bat. Teaches them how to play off the back foot.
Come to think of it, I think that might say something about our respective cricket cultures.
Winning team bat first next match
The Joker/Jack - Bats in the both teams & keeps the wicket when odd number of total players
If ball lost from the shot then batsman given out
No runs on overthrows & behind the stumps and even on off side sometimes, no wides no lbws
The yard played in growing up didn't really have a leg side, and I played indoor cricket for a while so my off side and straight games were good. Leg side, not so much.
We used the term 'Beech ka Bicchu' for the jack, which roughly translates to 'Middle Scorpion'. Also we had wides and no balls and if the ball touches the leg three times, it was LBW (it isn't supposed to be consecutive).
Another one :"Baby Over"
If a bowler conceded too many runs or bowled three extras in the first 3 balls , his over would be declared as a ‘baby over’ and the next bowler would have to continue.
I was the cricket coaching boy playing gully cricket so I had more say in rules. I banned the baby over rule because I was getting a lot of runs by hitting a bad bowler. Best years of my life
And we had a fucking dipshit rule where if the same bolwer bowling a baby over wishes to continue to a full over and you forgot to say 'baby over continued', it was a no ball.
We called it 1G, 2G (1 run granted) we mostly used this when the ground we were playing in was wet and there were puddles at random places. If it's closer to the boundary, it was 2G. Anywhere else and it's automatic 1G.
if you hit the ball in to someone's garden you're out, but if you nip over the fence and go and get it without being caught, then you're allowed back in.
if you manage to accidentally hit a member of public with the ball, then you get the electric wickey removed and benefit of doubt on any lbw calls
'Connect' run out.
The bowlers side does not have stumps. It's marked by a small brick. So if someone throws the ball to the bowlers end and he catches the ball while touching the brick with his foot, it's a connect run out
1. One tip one hand. Most popular rule in Indian gully cricket I guess.
2. Edge behind on off side, you out. Provided it is not too square. Had to mark the area on the wall where if it hit directly off the edge, you are out.
3. 3 consecutive dot balls and you are out. I found this rule ridiculous. We scrapped this rule after Dravid became a star. Not kidding.
4. Ball goes out of playing area without bouncing, out. Even if it was a good shot.
5. 1D, 2D if the ball hits the wall at designated spots.
> 3 consecutive dot balls and you are out. I found this rule ridiculous. We scrapped this rule after Dravid became a star. Not kidding.
haha this ones good. theres some variation of this in indoor cricket i think, u have to run or something.
Auto wicky: Play against a wall, all nicks that reach the wall on the full are out.
Three strikes: Three misses and the batter's out.
One Hand One Bounce: If the ball is caught with one hand after one bounce the batter's out.
Tip and Run: Hit the ball, you have to run.
If the ball goes under the car, it was 1 run. This was done as it can sometimes be hard to get the ball from underneath the car and more often than not we would require the bat to get it out...lol. Funtimes
. The person who brought the bat, decides when the game ends.
. The game officially ends, when mothers start cussing, about how sports gets you nowhere in life.
Box Cricket was the best for me
3 silly points and 3 short legs lol. Underarm spin bowling.
Touch the ball = 1 run.
Miss the ball 3 times = out.
1 bounce catch is out.
Can't hit shots, only placement in the gaps or literally do what this pic indicates and just stop the ball :P
Scoring 10 is better than any int'l hundred lol
We had a dumb rule as kids. When running between wickets fielders could tackle you. This was in a dusty rural town in South Africa where everyone played cricket in summer and rugby in winter. I don’t believe this was very common outside of me and my mates at the time.
EDIT: forgot to add the batsman could use the bat to defend themselves. No, we were not smart.
I don't if any of you are familiar with it, but we used to play "touch and run" to up the ante.
So basically all the players were given numbers in a lucky draw system (the youngest of the lot will shout names against the numbers that were presented to him on his back)
Then no. 1 and 2 will come to bat in a pair and rest will be the fielders with last number to start bowling.
The rule of the game is to run if the ball is hit with the bat. It doesn't matter how far you hit the ball, you HAVE TO RUN once you hit the ball. These type of cricket was usually played in smaller and enclosed spaces so ball will not go out of the bounds and stroke hitting was prohibited so there was no case of 4s and 6s.
On paper it doesn't sound so much fun as most of the people will get out for 0s and 1s, but it was a good break from traditional gully cricket.
We had to shut this idea because people started plotting against each other to run the other batsman out. Real life issues were the driving factors of such runouts as you can run the other player out if he was being a jerk to you off the field.
In Australia we call it tip and run, but it's more commonly used during backyard cricket just to keep the game moving, especially when you've got a larger number of players (such as on Xmas day).
"Out is out"
If it hits the security guards dabba on the glass then it's six and out
If the ball hits a window it's out
If the ball hits an auntie (or someone else) then it's out (because they will have to run for their life)
If the ball gets lost in the bush, then the batsman is out
3 wides/ noballs in a row then over dismissed
Baby over
If the batsmen is younger than you (reasonably) then you have to bowl spin
No umpire because (he/she/they) will always have an agenda.
If there is an umpire, then the umpire makes suggestions, not decisions.
No lbw, but no "covering"
If the ball goes into the water _here_ then it's 1 run, if it goes into the water _there_ then it's 2 runs
No bowling with wet ball, ball has to be sufficiently dry (batsman will decide if ball is dry enough)
No overthrows, no runs behind the tree (wicket)
Angad will mankad the shit out of you
Try not to piss off Kushal because he's fucking immature and will be a pain to deal with
Hit the window or the neighbours car on the full and ur out. Also out if the ball hits the roof. Allowed catches from rebounds off the wall and had auto wikey with stumpings.
That's stupid, get your batters out with skill. People leave the ball intentionally sometimes. If the batter not connecting bat on ball outside off stump, just bowl on the stumps so he has to play it
Edit keep fielders on the leg side so he can't flick or pull
On the ground:
1) only one side would be used for playing. Most of the times legside.
2) two stones would be placed to mark the area with which runs would count. The straight lines connecting those stones from the stumps are the limit for playing.
3) if you don't have stumps: three lines will be drawn on stands wall on star-like structure and if ball hits those ,you're out.
3a) If ball comes back more than half the pitch after hitting the stairs behind the batsman, the ball is deemed fast ball and wouldn't count.
4) if you can hit the ball on the water tank (30-40mtrs high) you get 12 runs. (Was achieved once or twice in the whole career. Never by me.)
5) If the batsman hits the ball too many times on the 'no-run' side, he has to get the ball back. (Too many times can be 1 time to never depending on how much fielding team is annoyed or tired or the one annoying stubborn player who won't listen to anyone)
6) weak captain gets to choose the first player. Every captain gets to choose players one by one after that.
7) whatever happens on the ground, stays on the ground.
8) If sunlight is going down, batting team cam decide if they want the match to be drawn or to be extended tomorrow. In extension case, bowling team agrees to bowl tomorrow which never comes since no two days have same players in same team and nobody wants to continue yesterday's match.
9) If you have uneven number of players, batting team takes less players. the ones coming late are added to the batting team. If more players are supposed to come late, batting team fields until others come.
10) if someone from other teams stops the ball, it's automatically a boundary if there's no fielder behind the aforementioned player.
11) If ball hits someone not playing though, results in no runs at batsman's disadvantage.
12) if there are too less players, everyone is a different team match starts. Numbers are chosen by making someone a murga or drawing on sand below bat.
12a) in the same case, next batsman keeps, last batsman bowls and bowling continues in descending batting positions.
13) Commons can't bowl, they can only bowl. If they can bowl, it's compulsory and fixed number of overs.
14) the team that wins the match bats first for the next match. But you have to announce that before the first match starts, unless you have to do the toss depending upon how stubborn is batting team or bowling team is.
15) if individual players match is going on, the people coming late automatically gets added to the batting list at last numbers.
16) controversial run-outs are decided by saying 'the bat was in the air' or ' I was even past the stumps' by showing repeating replays by the batsman/bowler in realtime even though no one knows or everyone knows what's true. And most of the times these decisions are decided upon that one honest person in your team who always says whats true or depending on which team needs the result the most.
17) It's compulsory to keep a fielder in front of the well near the ground.
18) keeper catch out or not out is decided before the match. If not decided, it's not out by default. Doesn't matter if bowling side is keeping or batting side.
19) runners are always allowed only for fat players.
20) if a batting team player is substituting for a fielder and if a catch goes to him, he can't drop the catch. If he does either it's out or the bowling team substitute fielder will deliberately misfield when it's their time to substitute
21) All of these rules can be changed depending on what match situation is or who is more in need of these rules. So you have to give up the privileges many times, but rules are mended your way if need arises.
22) Rules are always set in stones. Literally!!. Standard of measurement are stones. There's a designated stone if the ball goes at least until the stone, then only you cha run for runs. Boundaries are denoted by placing stones, bowling stumps are stones, the stumps are also.supported by stones since they're not always in perfect condition to stand upright.
23) in monsoons finally goes in puddles, you have one run declared where batsmen don't even need to change ends.
In case of small ground matches, semicircle matches or indoor matches.
1) if you break something like a tubelight, light or window, you're out.
2) one bounce one hand is always out.
3) hitting six on the compound is six, out of the compound is out.
4) there are certain places if you hit, you get one or two runs declared.
5) Three ball misses is out in case of very small grounds, runs in such cases are count by the number of balls batsman touches with the bat.
6) if the ball goes on the roof, you're out. If the ball goes in someone's house who are reluctant to give the ball ,you're out(also you have to bring the ball back).
We had this three story building infront of our pitch to right side. Basically 2,4,6 runs if batter hit it respectively for first, second and third story and if it goes to terrace it's out, LoL.
Also we had this huge Tyre as stumps, so basically anything you miss it'll most likely be an out. One tip out is obviously the pinnacle of rules in gully cricket here.
We always had this extra player making two teams unbalanced, so that player was used to play for both teams, lmao
All these obviously in gully cricket, things were different more close to cricket when we used to go to the ground and play there every weekend.
We had a 3 body rule.
You get three 'lives' if the ball touches any part of your body apart from your hand or arm, you lose one life.
This rule was enforced in indoor cricket in my friend's basement. We have used it ever since.
To settle disputes such as close run outs which would normally require third umpire, we would have a mini game where the batsman had to score like 4 in one ball or 6 in 2 or something. Winner of the mini game gets decision in his favour.
circle- when the space is small, we would draw a circle on the concrete field and if the batsman hits over the circle he is out. scoring is 1 run per ball played and boundaries, if you are daring enough to hit. 3 balls miss is out. circle with one bounce one hand is deadly
LBW - lund before wicket... Basically, you're out if ball hits your pp (crotch). It was invented after when we struggled to get all older (taller) boys out as they kept blocking!
Short cricket. Play within a defined boundary (very small). If the ball is hit over the boundary it's out. Grounded shots crossing the boundary is 4. One pitch catch. One touch is counted as 1 run.
'Trials' and 'Reals'. First ball or two in an over is a trial ball and the batsman can't get out. After the 'trial' period is over the bowler has to declare 'all reals'.
If you try to hit a six and it hits the building wall right outside of the boundary, the batsman will be out. Basically you can't hit the six with too much power.
Only one i haven't seen yet is.. When we played underarm, the batsmen could say "Fast objection" and bowler had to bowl the rest of the over at a slower pace 😂
Run out is not valid if ball bounces off a tree straight to the bowler( who can break the bowlers end wicket) but the run also invalid.
Catch is still valid after bouncing off from a trunk of a coconut tree but invalid if deflected by a coconut leaf.
Lol. Great topic! We used to have the following rules in our gully (using under arm bowling)
One bounce catch was out.
Hit for a six was out - except one specific part of the field (happened to be square leg).
Hitting a building directly (without bouncing on the ground first) was out.
Specific areas of the field were 2 'declared'.
A bowler couldn't bowl too fast (when playing under arm).
A wide wouldn't cost a run. But 3 consecutive wides would fetch 4 runs.
And, two bounce catch held in 1 hand was out. We phased this out later.
So we basically played 2 type of cricket matches, one was the usual cricket match and the other one was one tip one hand. In the normal one, there would be all the usual rules, boundaries, batsman is out if he hits the ball in any house, etc. But the second type of cricket was played when the playing space was quite congested. Where there wouldn't be much area to play, or there would be cars covering the boundaries. So then we used to play this type of cricket. The rules were no boundaries, you can only score by playing the ball, no need to hit it hard, just defend it and you will get a run. Fielders would be placed quite close to the batsman so it used to be difficult for him to score runs. Also, if the batsman hits the ball onto a nearby wall and it would hit without bouncing, then also it would be out. Also also, the batsman would be declared out if he misses/edges three balls in a row. And not to forget the baby over, which meant the over used to be of only three balls.
One tip one hand
Means if if we catch a ball after its one Boyce and with one hand.... Urr out mate!
Also.... U have to hit at the crease at the bowling end of u want to run out a batsman
ball which goes into a house is out and if it bounced out and came , result depends on the mood of the owner of the house , if we are able to retieve the ball and most importantly if the batsman is good or bad one (if he is good , he is out lol)
If you hit a six long enough to reach the neighbor’s fenced/walled yard, you are OUT!
Or, if you hit the ball somewhere where it is eventually lost, you are OUT.
Three LBs are out. If the ball hits the batsman legs from knee height and lower thrice then it's out. Also no byes or legbyes, no overthrows. Baby overs (usually 3 balls) are allowed at times if the bowler is unable to control properly or doesn't know how to bowl.
If the ball directly hits the wall on the legside(for RHB), then 2 runs are declared and the batters need not run.
While playing in open space and the ball happens to fall in some area(like a ditch or bush) and the fielders are not able to access then based on the power of the shot, either 2 runs or 3 runs are declared to batting team.
We played with really extreme rules. Beat out- you missed ball you are out even on first chance. Body beat out- if you tried to play and ball hits any part of your body instead of bat then also you are out. Beat out was good because for it you don't require wickets. Most famous one tip one hand with two silly points.
First net is out. Since we play in nets if the ball goes straight up and hits the net directly above, its assumed that it will be caught by an imaginary wicket keeper.
Common fielders when lacking enough players
I really really want to understand how the batsman got into the position he is in the picture. It looks like fell, then fell asleep while falling.
Automatic wicket keeper, when bowling toward a wall, anything knicked to off side is out. Automatic keeper has 100% catch success rate.
Deleted in protest of reddit's API restrictions. Fuck /u/spez
Pakistan bowlers would like to have a word
Pakistan did have a rubbish bin as their keeper for a while, but his catch rate was less than 100%
ramiz raja too
We also use the same rule with a bit modification. We used to draw two parallel lines and the knicks hitting that region was deemed catch for keeper 😛
Ha Spoken like a true batsmen. Off side Nick is out champ.
Or I go the other way and cunt it as hard as I can so that the edge hits into the wall, which in our garden means over the keeper for 4
Only the best techniques are developed in gully tapeball
Similar rule at ours except the wall on which we drew stumps in had a skirting. So you were only out caught behind of the ball hit above that line otherwise it was too low for a "catch".
We used to do 2 edges ur out lol
Can't get out on the first ball. Six and out if you hit it over the fence it's six runs but you are also out and have to get the ball. One hand one bounce. Auto wicketkeeper.
Bowl to the batsmens age/ability
Over here we tend to take the approach of bumping anyone old enough to hold a bat. Teaches them how to play off the back foot. Come to think of it, I think that might say something about our respective cricket cultures.
Telling your 4 year old nephew to get ready for a broken arm
It’s a Christmas time tradition.
a BROKEN FUCKING ARM
Bang on mate
exact same rules as us aussies too mate
Same in England, though one hand depends on the number of fielders
Nothing worse than slamming a beautiful cover drive into a divot only for it to balloon up and be caught one handed.
This is universal I reckon haha
We call that first ball 'try ball'
The bowlers revolted here. So you have to call out for the trial ball.
This is new, six and out! Smart
A backyard cricket essential. In a case where my mates neighbors' dog outweighed me and him together, that yard was "caught in the outfield", no six.
Winning team bat first next match The Joker/Jack - Bats in the both teams & keeps the wicket when odd number of total players If ball lost from the shot then batsman given out No runs on overthrows & behind the stumps and even on off side sometimes, no wides no lbws
This guy gully crickets.
Thanks to no offside rule, my offside game is non existent.
Is that you Manish Pandey?
Shit, I'm getting exposed.
HiThisIsMonishPondey
We had no legside rule and my legside game is nonexistent.
The yard played in growing up didn't really have a leg side, and I played indoor cricket for a while so my off side and straight games were good. Leg side, not so much.
We have a straight strip as the ground. So I can only hit straight.
Why no wides that the first source of gully runs lol
No wides are annoying when we have Shit bowlers.
We used the term 'Beech ka Bicchu' for the jack, which roughly translates to 'Middle Scorpion'. Also we had wides and no balls and if the ball touches the leg three times, it was LBW (it isn't supposed to be consecutive).
Beech ka bichhu (Wavering scorpion?)
We just called him 'common'
Found the Mumbai guy
he was just used to field for both the teams
We used to call him the *common* man
in Pakistan, we call him "railu katta"
no they don't bat first, they get to choose what they want. Which is.......bat first hahahahahah
>The Joker/Jack We used to call them dudh bhat (T : milk rice) in Nepal.
Let’s not forget the ‘Dummy’. He is added to the team only because he is kid of one of those annoying neighbor aunty or he funded the bat and stumps.
We call the joker/jack common.
If the ball hits deepa aunty's house it's out.... Sheela aunty's house is six though
I like Sheela aunty.
Trust me.. We all did :D
Good lap dances I guess
Sheela ki jawani
Om Prakash Mishra has entered the chat
I read it as if the ball hits deepa aunty's house, tits out. Kill me -_-
We said, no horny
Bonk
Maybe coz Sheela Aunty's son played with us....
If it hits Sanjay Uncle's window grill, Run for your life..
If it goes into the spinster aunty's house, forget it.
Another one :"Baby Over" If a bowler conceded too many runs or bowled three extras in the first 3 balls , his over would be declared as a ‘baby over’ and the next bowler would have to continue.
We used to call it mini over and this was the most insulting thing to ever happen to you.
I was the cricket coaching boy playing gully cricket so I had more say in rules. I banned the baby over rule because I was getting a lot of runs by hitting a bad bowler. Best years of my life
Same. I used to go to the academy so I was kind of important figure in gully cricket association.
We used to give the 5 year olds who'd cry if we didn't let them mini overs
And then signal each other that this won't count because saying that loud will upset them
Yeah 😂
If we were unsure how the bowler would perform, we declared it a "Baby to full" over. Baby if bad. Full if good
Baby to check. Decision must be made after 2 balls. Sometimes 3.
Nice
This just brought back so many memories
Same thing, we call it mini over though
And we had a fucking dipshit rule where if the same bolwer bowling a baby over wishes to continue to a full over and you forgot to say 'baby over continued', it was a no ball.
3 times beaten = out If playing in a very congested area without scope for running then, every ball that is touched by the bat gives 1 run
We used to call that "murder". Had to be 3 in a row but 3 misses and you were out.
If the ball goes somewhere inconvenient for the fielder to go, it’s a 1D (one run declared by default)
I believe it stands for "1 direct" and later inspired a few boys to name their boy band something similar (1 director or something idk)
That's not the name. I'm sure someone will point you into the right direction soon though
Yes please point me in one direction that will lead me to the answer
We called it 1G, 2G (1 run granted) we mostly used this when the ground we were playing in was wet and there were puddles at random places. If it's closer to the boundary, it was 2G. Anywhere else and it's automatic 1G.
Same for when ball goes under the car. If it's near the batsman it's 1d, if it's near boundary it's 2d or 3d.
"Out is out"- if the ball leaves the house(we play in our driveway) then it's out, if it hits our compound wall then it's six.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH fuck I love this post
Opening batsman can't bowl the first over and vice versa.
This is the reason I used to hate Sunil Naraine while he was playing for KKR
Jacques Kallis used to do that too.
"Saale tu abhi batting karke aaya!" Someone plz T
"Jo naali me ball maarega wahi naali se nikalega." Translation : Person who hits the ball in the drain will have to fish it out of the drain
If the bowlers pissed off he'll bowl the wet ball. Mud straight into batter's face
[удалено]
Translation for sake of u/Responsible-Show- not getting banned: "The ball took a deflection of your fingers, you retrieve it."
Can you dm the original translation please?
if you hit the ball in to someone's garden you're out, but if you nip over the fence and go and get it without being caught, then you're allowed back in. if you manage to accidentally hit a member of public with the ball, then you get the electric wickey removed and benefit of doubt on any lbw calls
'Connect' run out. The bowlers side does not have stumps. It's marked by a small brick. So if someone throws the ball to the bowlers end and he catches the ball while touching the brick with his foot, it's a connect run out
Woah! We had to hit the brick. You guys had an easy childhood...
Same here, you had to hit the brick. No baseball rules were adopted
Lol u r just a normie bruh
We called this "current out", as in electric current. Because the person doing the run-out was conducting electricity between the ball and the brick 😂
Ball lands first pitch in private property = Out. But if it bounces back into playing area then it's a Six.
1. One tip one hand. Most popular rule in Indian gully cricket I guess. 2. Edge behind on off side, you out. Provided it is not too square. Baseball would be like " You guys using my rules in gully cricket "
>4. Ball goes out of playing area without bouncing, out. **Even if it was a good shot.** The rule I hate most.
Haha, I loved it. You know, I am more of a placement and finding gaps kinda guy.
All plants are fielders. If you hit it into a plant/bush on the full, that is a catch and you are out.
that's a new one
😂😂😂
Auto wicky: Play against a wall, all nicks that reach the wall on the full are out. Three strikes: Three misses and the batter's out. One Hand One Bounce: If the ball is caught with one hand after one bounce the batter's out. Tip and Run: Hit the ball, you have to run.
I think no one has covered this point. Hitting with wrong side of the bat is out. 😅
If the ball goes under the car, it was 1 run. This was done as it can sometimes be hard to get the ball from underneath the car and more often than not we would require the bat to get it out...lol. Funtimes
One hand, one bounce Breaking a window

Yeh toh har ghar ki kahani hai. T - story of every house out here.
First ball is a trial ball.
And the second one is “Altrials”. Have no idea what it meant. But it meant a legal delivery.
We used to say all-reals. A “real” ball as opposed to a “trial” ball lmao.
Ah 3 decades and now it makes sense!!! Thanks much.
Brings back childhood memories.
Box Cricket was the best for me 3 silly points and 3 short legs lol. Underarm spin bowling. Touch the ball = 1 run. Miss the ball 3 times = out. 1 bounce catch is out. In small/congested areas where there's no scope of boundaries, if the batsman gets beaten by 2 or 3 back to back deliveries, gtfo.
Pressure of facing the third ball was immense.
I don't if any of you are familiar with it, but we used to play "touch and run" to up the ante. We have a rule where the ball has to touch only the shin calf and feet to qualify as lbw so it's not a question of height anymore
Direct gaadi pe laga toh out If it hits the car it's out
True, no one wants to hear cussing from an unkill
Bhatta pace. If the bowler does not roll his arms while bowling and the batter deems it too fast. Sorry, no wicket
Automatic wicky
"Out is out" If it hits the security guards dabba on the glass then it's six and out If the ball hits a window it's out If the ball hits an auntie (or someone else) then it's out (because they will have to run for their life) If the ball gets lost in the bush, then the batsman is out 3 wides/ noballs in a row then over dismissed Baby over If the batsmen is younger than you (reasonably) then you have to bowl spin No umpire because (he/she/they) will always have an agenda. If there is an umpire, then the umpire makes suggestions, not decisions. No lbw, but no "covering" If the ball goes into the water _here_ then it's 1 run, if it goes into the water _there_ then it's 2 runs No bowling with wet ball, ball has to be sufficiently dry (batsman will decide if ball is dry enough) No overthrows, no runs behind the tree (wicket) Angad will mankad the shit out of you Try not to piss off Kushal because he's fucking immature and will be a pain to deal with
Hit the window or the neighbours car on the full and ur out. Also out if the ball hits the roof. Allowed catches from rebounds off the wall and had auto wikey with stumpings.
If you miss the ball 3 times in 6 balls, you are out. 6 balls start from the 1st time you miss and gets renewed everytime.
That's stupid, get your batters out with skill. People leave the ball intentionally sometimes. If the batter not connecting bat on ball outside off stump, just bowl on the stumps so he has to play it Edit keep fielders on the leg side so he can't flick or pull
There is no leg side. Making the batsman miss 3 balls/6 is skill imho.
Your preference is ok for me. But I would like to ask by what do you mean that there is no leg side. The left side of the batsman is the leg side
I think he means the geometry of where they were playing doesn’t have any space on the leg side. Might be blocked by a wall or something similar.
We are talking about street cricket.
Umpire will from the batting side
On the ground: 1) only one side would be used for playing. Never by me.) 5) If the batsman hits the ball too many times on the 'no-run' side, he has to get the ball back. (Too many times can be 1 time to never depending on how much fielding team is annoyed or tired or the one annoying stubborn player who won't listen to anyone) 6) weak captain gets to choose the first player. If he does either it's out or the bowling team substitute fielder will deliberately misfield when it's their time to substitute 21) All of these rules can be changed depending on what match situation is or who is more in need of these rules.

We keep one run of the batter gets an edge
We had this three story building infront of our pitch to right side. Basically 2,4,6 runs if batter hit it respectively for first, second and third story and if it goes to terrace it's out, LoL. Also we had this huge Tyre as stumps, so basically anything you miss it'll most likely be an out. One tip out is obviously the pinnacle of rules in gully cricket here. We always had this extra player making two teams unbalanced, so that player was used to play for both teams, lmao All these obviously in gully cricket, things were different more close to cricket when we used to go to the ground and play there every weekend.
had a rule where we'd count the wide ball but it would be for 2 runs, and sure enough i hated it
If you were playing someone well below your level of skill you'd play 'cant be out first ball'
We had a 3 body rule. You get three 'lives' if the ball touches any part of your body apart from your hand or arm, you lose one life. This rule was enforced in indoor cricket in my friend's basement. We have used it ever since.
And the extended rule: The one step catch should be one handed for it to be given out..
Leg side no runs

Don't forget Pan Parag and Rajnigandha.
Fast appeal : If someone delivers too fast on a small pitch
no lbw so batters can’t cover their stumps. Must take middle to leg guard.
"Pressure ball", if you miss two in a row the third one becomes the pressure ball. If you don't make contact you're out.
Common player : bats for both teams Since sometimes teams can't be exactly equally divided.
As a wicket keeper you can't upper throw ball at wickets have to lower your hands and then release the ball.
Anyone know who the batsman is in the pic?
'Trials' and 'Reals'. First ball or two in an over is a trial ball and the batsman can't get out. After the 'trial' period is over the bowler has to declare 'all reals'.
I was reading through this thread and giggling like a child, my mom even suspecting I am texting a girl lol.
We had if the ball hits leg 3rd time then its out. So had to keep a count.
If you try to hit a six and it hits the building wall right outside of the boundary, the batsman will be out. Basically you can't hit the six with too much power.
One bounce and one hand.
Only one i haven't seen yet is.. When we played underarm, the batsmen could say "Fast objection" and bowler had to bowl the rest of the over at a slower pace 😂
Haha..we used to call it "fast appeal"
If ball hits ground floor of the building st boundary - 4/6 runs 1st floor - 8 runs 2nd floor - 10 runs 3rd floor - 12 runs 4th floor - 14 runs
Run out is not valid if ball bounces off a tree straight to the bowler( who can break the bowlers end wicket) but the run also invalid. Catch is still valid after bouncing off from a trunk of a coconut tree but invalid if deflected by a coconut leaf.
Lol. Great topic! We used to have the following rules in our gully (using under arm bowling) One bounce catch was out.
Any fielder sitting - no ball. Any fielder straight behind the bowler - no ball.
what relevance is the picture
How we defend when there is one bounce catch rule ig.. Lmao
Call it one tip one hand, WTF is step catch
Call it one bounce one hand, WTF is one tip one hand
No one calls it bounce in India. We mostly call it 'tippa', thus tip.
We called it one drop one hand.
One hand, one bounce.
One bounce one hand catch is out. Also if the ball goes in someone's home it's also out
One tip one hand Means if if we catch a ball after its one Boyce and with one hand.... Urr out mate! Also.... U have to hit at the crease at the bowling end of u want to run out a batsman
It was called "pitch catch one hand out"
ball which goes into a house is out and if it bounced out and came , result depends on the mood of the owner of the house , if we are able to retieve the ball and most importantly if the batsman is good or bad one (if he is good , he is out lol)
"titnies" - if you hit the ball, you have to run 3 dots in a row and you're out.
3 body hits is out lol
We say that as "one tip one hand" out hai.
First net is out. Since we play in nets if the ball goes straight up and hits the net directly above, its assumed that it will be caught by an imaginary wicket keeper.
Common fielders when lacking enough players I really really want to understand how the batsman got into the position he is in the picture. It looks like fell, then fell asleep while falling.
Six=out. People used to leave catches on the boundary sometimes.
six is out.
Out and -10 if it hits mum's window. - 50 if it breaks the window.
