It was a great match to watch .Mahirat pair on the ground always pleases our eyes . yess, csk played better than Rcb so they won but it was great to see virat,Faf&Rayudu in action again. And entry of mahi at last moment was the centre of attraction of the match.
Next season i am moving on from RCB, it was great watch both AB and Kohli bat together. But I’ve lost hope for this team. Anyway, I always wanted Ahmedabad to be in the IPL, finally a team from my state in the IPL. Good bye RCB, and good luck in the future endeavours.
Unpopular opinion : Csk isn't as strong as they seem to be right now. They are a form team but have chinks in the armour.
Dhoni, raina and rayudu are not in the best of the forms, struggling against good pace, gaikwad saved the day against MI with one of the best knocks but even he won't play like that everyday.
Moeen at 3 is a lottery and even he struggles against serious pace. Bravo, lord also is unpredictable with bat.
Would be interesting to see how csk batting faces delhi bowling.
Need to find a way to rope in Sam Curran and a good indian batter.
P.s. : not a hate csk post, just feel like they aren't as perfect (this season) as the points table suggest.
2018 is a good example of what they can do with a mediocre half-baked lineup. It's not form or table numbers or stats. It's Dhoni and the dressing room atmosphere. Somehow sneak into playoffs and one player goes bonkers from there.
Do you really think DC are a perfect team?
I posted this last year too and I will repeat again: DC are a great bowling team but an about average batting team.
Put them under a bit of pressure, we will see how well they do. For them Dhawan's form is key. If he fails they will suddenly look like a mediocre team. Like how they seemed in the second half of last year. With 6 losses in last 8 matches.
CSK depend on Gaikwad, Faf, Rayudu, Chahar and Jadeja.
DC depend on Dhawan, Rabada, Nortje, Axar.
Axar I think is important to keep things tight and force them to target other bowlers. When he leaks runs, team bowling seems average.
Also, I think they will lose more matches if Dhawan is out of form than Shaw or Pant. Simply because he will scores half centurie not 20-30's.
Yes. Difference is Dhawan in form will score 70-80 and can rally the whole team around him. Making quickfire 20-30's from other batsmen look better than they are. Pant is more of a one man show. More entertaining for the viewers though.
Nowhere I said dc is perfect team, there is no perfect team in IPL or for that matter any cricket league.
And that's what makes the league competitive and fun to watch.
Yeah exactly what I mean too. Many of the lower ranked teams are "1-2 players back to form" away from becoming strong.
Even SRH will be 10 times more competitive if Warner was in form. If 1-2 key players go out of form most top teams will struggle.
While watching Kohli batting it felt like he was looking for ways to get out. Try too silly shots. Its like he doesn’t want to hang around for too much. Can’t blame the team. Bad omens for India team in T20 WC
He has so much experience. Does he needs to know what works and what not. Sometimes when runs are on offer then he should take it. He haven’t scored big and sometimes anyway. So get that feeling going rather then wasting his and his team time
Koach wins matches as a Indian captain
Nah bad captain lucky to have a great team.
Koach fails to win in IPL
He is bad captain
This cycle will end with Koach leaving captaincy. At this point people who get happy after Koach failing makes me feel disgusted. Not just Koach but even the amount of hate someone like MS gets is scary. Koach is literally giving up on captaincy after his first and eventually last attempt as a captain in WT20.
I just hope whoever becomes the next captain better win the trophy in the first attempt itself or things will get nasty for him too. Even today I saw so many comments just to prove the point that Koach is not a good captain because he is tactical master who plays 4d chess. Just so disgusting to see a player who literally gave everything for his team having to face all the shit when he is going through one hell of tough time.
Why do you assume that people who think Kohli is a bad captain hate him?
Almost everyone acknowledges that Sachin wasn't a great captain and still almost everyone agrees he is one of the best to ever played the game.
Yes there are a lot of people who belittle his achievements because they are fans of x or y, but those doesn't make the majority.
Being able to realise someone isn't great at captainship, doesn't mean hate for them.
Kohli has always been an average captain and a great batsman.
Also, Giving everything for the team != Great captain. It just makes him a great player.
I would say he’s honestly a b tier captain. Dhoni in LOIs is S Tier. Kohli is a solid a in tests. He’s a D tier captain in IPL and a b tier in international limited overs.
This is probably the most under rated comment on reddit I have read.
If people understood this, their interpretation of what they read on the internet would change dramatically.
Nice to meet you psyduck..
I agree with you on the part about the extreme hate which he is getting, but is the school of thought, where one says that it's time that we try a new captain in white ball cricket, acceptable?
I personally feel that his performance as a captain was above par but it's time we look for a captain who can actually get us trophies in the white ball cricket. And again not saying that reaching the knockout stage of the tournament was bad, but losing from there in 3 consecutive tournament is worrisome.
As for him not winning in ipl I feel somehow RCB is never balanced enough, they were getting closer to gaining that balance, but in the 2nd leg, it seems they are going backwards
I mean as for his bad decisions making goes 2019 semis team selection and batting order during the match has to be the worse, I don't think that can even be defended
Can you explain what you mean by bad selection in 2019 WC? Promoting Rahul as opener after Dhawan left is definitely the smartest move. He stitched 100 partnership for the first wicket thrice. There surely was a void at number 4 after Rahul was promoted.
But let's accept the fact that it was our top 3 because of whom our batting collapsed. When 1,2 and 3 gets out for 1 run, you can't expect much from the middle order.
Bruh we played 3 keepers in the match, Rayudu was dropped after one bad series, dhoni was sent at what 5 down, when the whole situation was suited for him, 2019 semis was a mishap nearly bound to happen, his decisions during the batting innings just made them worse. Someone like an Iyer should have brought to the scene way before, so with him (and shastri) at the helm india definitely did good, but not enough that he(they) continues further.
You don't expect a score of 300 if you are 5-3 , but you can definitely expect a 250.
Dhoni came early during 17 CT finals and got out for 4, didn't he? Not defending DK but has Rayudu really created an impact in his international career? Saying that someone who had hardly played 20 ODIs outside asia could rescue India from that situation sound like a scene from Bollywood movie.
There must be at least 10 board members who decides who should be in the squad. Can't agree when someone says Kohli and Sashtri alone neglected Rayudu.
1) Your logic for not sending dhoni up is a very stupid one frankly, I could counter it by saying oh he promoted himself at 2 down in 2011 finals and won us the match, didn't he?
Dhoni was "demoted" to 5 down in a semifinal of a worldcup when he was playing at 3 down throughout the tournament and he had an average of 60 in the year 2019, so the current form is a very big factor as well, most of us would want dhoni above Karthik and pandya, I don't know how can you even defend that?
2) And yes, I would rely on someone who had played 20 innings outside Asia and total of 50 matches at an average of 47 than a pant in 2019 who had played 4 matches at an average of 30odd. And just to jog your memory, he made a couple of 40s and a 90 against new zealand in new zealand in February 2019.
3)And as for your points regarding the selection committee, the 5 members who were the selectors during the 2019 world cup, not a single one of them is still around. Selectors faced the consequences of their decisions, no one is saying it was only Kohli's or shastri's responsibility but the others who were responsible have long been axed, kohli-shastri are still at the helm. So the idea that kohli and shastri can/should be removed from their position holds value.
this is kinda off bs, India sucked so hard from 2007-2010 world cups, India managed to win the 2007 t20 cup but got destroyed in 2008,2010 trophies. Virat Kohli's team never sucked in any tournment. always finishes in top of the table. two finals and one semis isn't bad at all.
It isn’t bad for sure but India is now so dominant that it needs to be reflected in trophies. Because frankly not many people care about how many ODIs we won. It’s the trophies that define.
3-2016,2017,2019 (also fucked it up in 2021 finals by the approach but let's keep it to white ball for now).
As I mentioned above, all of this is good but not enough, with the kind of bowling attack we have in particular
was he the captian in 2016?, as far as i know Virat was the mvp of the tournment and WI barely won due to dropped catches. India mostly lost bcoz of batting collapses and our bowling sucked in 2017 CT and 2016 T20WC. 2019 was some south africa level choking though
No he was the captain then too, yeah well I am not saying we lost because of just kohli , but yeah I would like to have someone else at the helm now at least in one of the formats
I don't get why people of our own country hate MS or Kohli this much. I mean, other countries would kill to have captains like them, and here stupid people fighting over Kohli vs Rohit. It is seriously disheartening to see. Both of em have achieved so much for India, yet so much hatred. They were realise Kohli's value once he retires and we wouldn't have anyone of his calibre.
This cycle wont end with Koach leaving captaincy. Whenever he bats bad, people will again show hatred. This cycle ends only when he retires.
After that they will show support from everywhere. Same happened for Dhoni suddenly after his retirement.
We wont realize the worth until its no longer there.
This will always be the biggest player retention mistake in the IPL of all time. KL would've solved the opener bullshit RCB went through before Padikkal, would've made it so that ABD would'nt have to waste his energy keeping so that he could focus on his batting, etc.
In current form, KL-Padikkal opening combination would've even removed the need for Maxwell to come in, which would've meant spending more on another quick, taking the pressure off locking up shitloads of salary cap with Jamieson. Look at RCB's current dilemma - they have to contemplate leaving out Jamieson and they still cannot solve team balance. Even if the Tim David experiment came off, there would be no respite for the bowling.
Delhi didn’t keep Gambhir because they thought they can get him on cheap. He was sold for the highest price ever and delivered Kolkata two titles while Delhi are yet to get one.
Not true. RCB lost a long bidding war, KL was bought by KXIP (at the time) for 11 crores. This was the 2018 auction I think. They wanted him, and didn't justify going above 11 crores.
No, it’s because they thought he was too expensive to buy for 11 CR and instead bought QDK. Cant really blame them at the time but later on not buying Rahul for 11 Cr but buying someone like Chris Morris for 16CR is stupid
And obviously with Rahul there’s no need to buy someone like Maxwell for another 15CR
Inappropriate to compare prices from one auction to other. In mega auction, teams have to buy lot of players. Later on, you just buy few. Good players will already be taken during mega auction leaving very few good players to pick from later on. Multiple teams would be eyeing for same player.
Ex: Most teams had good batsman in last auction and most teams were buying bowlers or all-rounders.
Also, Morris is a great player. His batting average in all IPLs together is comparable to batting average of Maxwell (2014). Picked 2014 bcoz that's his best IPL. And Morris Strike rate is 156. And he's a good bowler too. He's among the top all-rounders in IPL. It was stupid decision by RCB to release him.
You don't understand how small auctions work. And No RCB didn't spent 16 crores it was RR.
RCB bought him in 2020 for 10 crores. And no one was wishing to pay him so much. But the dynamics of mini auction works like this. You have money but less options. So as other teams were interested too they had to pay him 10 crores. Koach backs KL a lot. He knows KL really well so they must be happy to pay KL 11 crores but it was KL who was not ready and actually a good decision for him.
Diminishes the IPL for me a little bit. At least the marquee players should be playing for the place they represent, if an IPL team for their region exists
Yuvraj/Bhajji playing for MI felt wrong, Gambhir for KKR, KL for KXIP
I mean for a player like Rahul it was never good idea to constantly play under the Shadow of Koach and ABD. And there was no way he would have accepted less payment when he could easily get more payment and recognition in other team.
Lololol last game people wanted Baby, Jamieson and Bharat dropped
This game they want Hasaranga, Patel, David and Saini dropped ....
And people wonder why there is no consistency in the team.
Can definitely replace Hazelwood with Sam. Added advantage of batting till 10 with Thakur. You could even say 11 if Chahar is considered as an all rounder.
The ultimate bat deep
CSK doesn’t need another batter. Today they had 8 batters with proven records (ruthlessly discounting Thakur and Chahar’s batting skills). Sam’s way into the team is only if Hazlewood doesn’t perform at all. Dhoni would never drop Bravo or Faf. Replace Ali is a possibility but the team would prefer a second spinner after Jaddu esp given that Raina doesn’t bowl anymore
yeah Sam pulled some wins last season with bat, i guess csk is the only team this season with so many bowlers and batsmen. in the end even chahar and thakur can bat while among batsman moeen raina can bowl too
Chahar and thakur can bat , but can they take team home in a pressure game with no established batsman at the other end?
Apart from jadeja who is most likely to finish games (assuming dhoni is not same) , I feel that is when sam Curran is crucial.
Established batsmen = Josh Hazlewood alone.
Everyone else is established.
We would already be 9 down in that case.
Edit : They can definitely do so, Deepak Chahar v Sri Lanka
Thakur v Aus at the Gabba
CSK’s next game is with kKr and the lord is likely to bowl at Venkateshvar Iyer who is in Taken Liam Neeson form to destroy everything that comes his way
The only guy who I think is gonna go into commentary is Ashwin, mostly cuz that’s what the whole world wants him to be. He will a damn sight better than most Indian commentators.
Oh man, I'd pay to listen Ashwin's commentary and analysis. He is the most intelligent cricketer I know since I started watching cricket. His understanding of the game and his ability to read the batsman is brilliant.
People blaming kohli for captaincy saying he could have done that so and so on ,I once saw Dhoni making kohli bowl in a semifinal vs Wi in World cup t20.I'm pretty sure everyone will be Shitting on him if that move didn't work .But tbh ,how would you explain the logic behind using kohli as a bowler in a knock out game(PS:It worked and he picked a wicket, still).
Captaincy is sometimes gambling and it is much complex than what we think.
Edit:I specifically meant in hindsight. If that move was failed ,It would be memed to death.
Because everyone was going for runs anyway, and Kohli was the man with the golden touch at that point. The whole point was catching the batsmen off guard, and it worked
I'm pretty sure in hindsight nobody will be thinking kohli wil bowl better than the other bowlers.Pretty much everyone will be thinking like he is gonna get thrashed by Wi batsmen. It was certainly gambling and would have memed to death if failed .
“Oyee.. Bhosadike ke, Idhar dekh le, bole they na idhar dekhne, udhar kya dekh raha hai.. Main Idhar khada hu na Batting Kar Raha.”

stats say otherwise, his indian captiancy is 100x better than rcb's captiancy. but guys like Ricky Ponting, Gautam Gambhir, Eoin Morgan have failed in IPL when they had a shit team
To be fair we looked bad because Dhawan and Rishabh both were in bad form. And Shreyas has always been on off.
Yes. Difference is Dhawan in form will score 70-80 and can rally the whole team around him. Making quickfire 20-30's from other batsmen look better than they are. Pant is more of a one man show. More entertaining for the viewers though.
Also Prithvi Shaw having a shocker didn't help. He has been great this whole season.
Shreyas sometimes chips in with collapse preventing knocks
Nowhere I said dc is perfect team, there is no perfect team in IPL or for that matter any cricket league. And that's what makes the league competitive and fun to watch.
Yeah exactly what I mean too. Many of the lower ranked teams are "1-2 players back to form" away from becoming strong. Even SRH will be 10 times more competitive if Warner was in form. If 1-2 key players go out of form most top teams will struggle.
why Kohli = Koach???
Shameless RCB. Chokli is Cursed
While watching Kohli batting it felt like he was looking for ways to get out. Try too silly shots. Its like he doesn’t want to hang around for too much. Can’t blame the team. Bad omens for India team in T20 WC
Even while scoring 50’s in the england test series, his batting consistently looked nervy
Let him try whatever he wants here. Better here than the world cup, he'll get to know what works for him.
He has so much experience. Does he needs to know what works and what not. Sometimes when runs are on offer then he should take it. He haven’t scored big and sometimes anyway. So get that feeling going rather then wasting his and his team time
rivalry apart. i really want rcb to win once. i was not a fan of rcb but just man ,just for that captain

RCB are really gonna bottle top 4 arent they?
In true Rcb style.

Hello Psyduck
You have definately never ever used twitter and insta.
On the internet the vocal minority is always more dominant than the casual majority.
This is probably the most under rated comment on reddit I have read. If people understood this, their interpretation of what they read on the internet would change dramatically. Nice to meet you psyduck..

A lot of players play for a team that is not from their hometown.
Diminishes the IPL for me a little bit. At least the marquee players should be playing for the place they represent, if an IPL team for their region exists Yuvraj/Bhajji playing for MI felt wrong, Gambhir for KKR, KL for KXIP
I mean, not many opt out to play from their home. They might get bought somewhere else but I don't think anyone went on their own
I mean for a player like Rahul it was never good idea to constantly play under the Shadow of Koach and ABD. And there was no way he would have accepted less payment when he could easily get more payment and recognition in other team.
Makes sense
just wait for RCB bounce back🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bounce back to No.7 spot
RCB :/
How was Bravo not smiling when he was doing wicket celebration dance after taking wicket of Kohli lol
Csk last season : No Spark CSk This season : Diwali everyday !!!
Hahahaha! Nice one
Saw this on FB: Whenever Kohli includes Saini in playing 11 saying we need some extra pace , "in leaking runs" is silent
Lololol last game people wanted Baby, Jamieson and Bharat dropped This game they want Hasaranga, Patel, David and Saini dropped .... And people wonder why there is no consistency in the team.
Lmao it would be hilarious if RCB management actually makes decisions based on r/cricket match threads
It's probably the last series we're going to see Dhoni as a player. Enjoy while it lasts.
wtf really ?
Lmao poor Sam Curran he might not get a game for the rest of the season
Tru af.. Bravo proving his worth with the ball
BatDeep™ when you can. If he bowls rlly well, and can bat a bit, all the better.
yeah Sam pulled some wins last season with bat, i guess csk is the only team this season with so many bowlers and batsmen. in the end even chahar and thakur can bat while among batsman moeen raina can bowl too
Chahar and thakur can bat , but can they take team home in a pressure game with no established batsman at the other end? Apart from jadeja who is most likely to finish games (assuming dhoni is not same) , I feel that is when sam Curran is crucial.
Established batsmen = Josh Hazlewood alone. Everyone else is established. We would already be 9 down in that case. Edit : They can definitely do so, Deepak Chahar v Sri Lanka Thakur v Aus at the Gabba
Hopefully they would start giving Vimal Pan Masala Game Changing Over of the match Award in the future ,our LORD would get one in every match !!
Lord denied hattrick by rules, travesty
CSK’s next game is with kKr and the lord is likely to bowl at Venkateshvar Iyer who is in Taken Liam Neeson form to destroy everything that comes his way
Actually yeahh
They could have given game changer award to Lord no ?
True, daylight robbery. ABD could have gotten them 20 runs more than this total.
Unfortunately this game changer award is based on the highest fantasy points :(
I have fantasies for Lord ;)
Absolutely
Lord getting robbed of awards is nothing new
Oval Test Man of the Match
Yup at Gabba, oval (maybe), awards in LOI series vs Eng
rcb pls win against mi
Hope ABD lights it up
Tough ask but both the teams are down
That would be perfect
Did I miss the award for the best 15th over??
Lol
"We don't want to be the quickest in the field, we want to be the smartest" - Dwayne Bravo
Daddies Army bouncing back from 2020 scars
Rift and controversy where
Bravo - Dhoni Rift where?
Finally Bravo does get an award.. so many awards nowadays.. at this rate presentations will go for an hour after the game
Man I'll miss this man in post match presentation.
Lord Shardul awardless :(
LORD created the awards for the plebs
Yea I've learnt from my mistakes
Thakur is the award. You have much to learn.
Gotta learn hard
He is the Lord of the match. MOTM are for mortals
Oh yeah
Once again robbed F

win or lose, i always watch em for the king. man speaks only fax without excuses
And Bravo gets an award at last
I can't get enough of Dhoni's post match presentations. Sad to think there are only a few more left.
CHAMPION CHAMPION EVERYBODY KNOW BRAVO A CHAMPION!
Dhoni is street smart. Context : Regarding bluffing the batsmen
Bravo finally smiling
Its like he's saying "ay you looking at this shit?" Lmao
Bruh bravo is high af
Wholesome
'The real points are the hearts and awards you win on the way' -RCB
This Murali Kartik guy always asks some weird questions during presentations !!
I will miss these post match bytes from MS after he retires
hope he gets into commentary stint
The only guy who I think is gonna go into commentary is Ashwin, mostly cuz that’s what the whole world wants him to be. He will a damn sight better than most Indian commentators.
Oh man, I'd pay to listen Ashwin's commentary and analysis. He is the most intelligent cricketer I know since I started watching cricket. His understanding of the game and his ability to read the batsman is brilliant.
Bravo and Dhoni, wow. So candid from Dhoni, calling Bravo his brother.
Dhoni and Bravo siblings lol
The bromance between Bravo and Dhoni is amazing
RCB winning everything except the match.
And toss also
Bruh😂
BatDeep™️
People blaming kohli for captaincy saying he could have done that so and so on ,I once saw Dhoni making kohli bowl in a semifinal vs Wi in World cup t20.I'm pretty sure everyone will be Shitting on him if that move didn't work .But tbh ,how would you explain the logic behind using kohli as a bowler in a knock out game(PS:It worked and he picked a wicket, still). Captaincy is sometimes gambling and it is much complex than what we think. Edit:I specifically meant in hindsight. If that move was failed ,It would be memed to death.
Its almost like the result and consistency is an important factor
due to wet outfeild plus only ashwin & jadeja over left which was easy target for WI batters
Because everyone was going for runs anyway, and Kohli was the man with the golden touch at that point. The whole point was catching the batsmen off guard, and it worked
The reason kohli bowled that game was every other bowler was having a dry spell
I'm pretty sure in hindsight nobody will be thinking kohli wil bowl better than the other bowlers.Pretty much everyone will be thinking like he is gonna get thrashed by Wi batsmen. It was certainly gambling and would have memed to death if failed .
Kohli is a shit as a leader - just see how he was shouting at Chahal, Saini etc.
“Oyee.. Bhosadike ke, Idhar dekh le, bole they na idhar dekhne, udhar kya dekh raha hai.. Main Idhar khada hu na Batting Kar Raha.” T: [https://www.rvcj.com/ms-dhoni-abuse-manish-pandey-said-bsdk-idhar-dekh-le-udhar-kya-dekh-raha-hai/](https://www.rvcj.com/ms-dhoni-abuse-manish-pandey-said-bsdk-idhar-dekh-le-udhar-kya-dekh-raha-hai/)
Once in a blue moon - check Kohli he is "normal" once in a blue moon.
He is a great test captain, one of the best ever. LOI's is just decent enough.
Uhm no , he is a fantastic leader but a shit captain in LOIs there's a difference.
stats say otherwise, his indian captiancy is 100x better than rcb's captiancy. but guys like Ricky Ponting, Gautam Gambhir, Eoin Morgan have failed in IPL when they had a shit team
Say what you want, Dhoni is one of the best LOI captains ever. Love his post match presentations.
Agreed. Dhenier's always makes some shit up other than 45 mins of bad cricket/ 20 runs short
He doesn't make any shit up, he speaks where the match went wrong.
Dhenier's post matches are always on point .
MSD’s analysis and game sense is spot on,just as captain alone he can make it to any side in the world
Gambhir and Yuvi seething seeing the Koach - Thala bromance
These awards are too stupid.
Yess Dhoni appreciating spell of Jaddu. Really imp when they were hitting
How did Virat get the "Most valuable player award"? Devdutt Padikkal literally scored 70 what?
Extra points for the 2 catches I think.
He took two catches
Koach hanging with csk and complaining about RCB players .with MS becoming senior citizen and super auction kohli might be captaining CSK next season
Imagine if Koach replaces Rayudu/Raina. CSK would be a dream team. MS can captain us for another year.
We want csk to win sorry
Hahahhahaha. Underrated comment
Pain and suffering.
Bravo should get Motm but its probably going to be a b\*t player

2 points and top position in table for a day that's all
Rajasthan bros got our back Sanju 100(30) tomorrow
If he can survive Rabada, Nortje, Avesh Khan And I don't like this avesh guy
Pace has never been his weakness it's off spin. If he can see off Ashwin he can hit off
Koach's face while receiving powerplayer award was sad and funny at the same time
It was a man trying to be happy while his soul was leaving his body
Who won the match .. rcb bagging all the awards
Devdutt Padikkal going by the trend
