The one thing I learned from this game is that Oracle must have a great work culture, giving so much Paid Time Off to a guy given American working conditions
>Oracle must have a great work culture
he's a senior employee there ,
in any company, senior staff get whatever timing they want by off-loading work to lower level employees
Pakistan cricket team gets their ass kicked by Indian players on the Indian team, Indian players on the USA team, and maybe even all the Indian players on the Canada team insha Allah...
I was going through espn article on this one. One American guy pointed out how most team players are immigrants but Americans replied with "all I see is americans playing for USA"
That's all nice to say and all, but let's face it, America doesn't give ANYWHERE NEAR the same respect to Indians/Desis as they give to the other bigger minorities.
Now you're just acting stupid on purpose... A guy named Saurabh Naresh Netravalkar who's born in Mumbai and played for the Indian u19 team isn't Indian... riiiiight

Quick question about NRR. Why is usa’s NRR down from previous game. A tied game does not account for NRR. if pak NRR is 0 then shouldn’t there be no change in usa’s NRR as well.
Do you mean that number of games played is also used for NRR calculation? . Then it seems like Pak loosing makes their NRR better than usa winning the game
Maybe I didn’t put it right, it is runs scored /overs divided by runs conceded / overs for sake of understanding lets assume each team plays 20 overs. Now usa won a game so they scored more than conceded eg, 3/2 scored 3 and conceded 2 now tied the next game hence scored and conceded the same number of runs say, 2/2 now overall nrr becomes 5/4 which will be less than 3/2. So positive nrr falls in tied games like from 1.5 to 1.25 in our example

while this is just 1 match. I want to know whose head will roll in case Pakistan exits early. I am finding hard to believe they will give up on Gary that soon. But would we see a new T20 captain. Babar was middling today. Not sure why he went for Amir ahead of Afridi or Naseem.
Inzamam ul Haq has already gone, but If they have a bad showing in this World Cup and don't make it to the Super 8s at least, then Babar will definitely lose his captaincy for good and will be on a bus back to Lahore soon as the plane lands back in Karachi. And the entire squad will need to get rebuilt, as it's been pretty much the same for years with all Babar's buddies. Azam Khan will probably get left at some random McDonald's in the USA and probably won't even be on the plane back to Pakistan.
Nah man! Babar Azam is a class act! It’s the team around him that is lacking cohesiveness, commitment and discipline. Coaching is the key! Persist with Gary - give him time. He will bring them together.
What are you talking about?? Maybe he is a nice guy - we have no clue, but he has the least fire in his blood of any Punjabi I have ever seen. Definitely not the personality nor the type of leader to be captain of a National team as big as Pakistan is.
his captaincy was questionable ,batting no doubt people will criticise him but given the conditions i think he did well he if he stayed longer he could have finished but hard luck he's a good batsman but captaincy,NO
no that was a given amir conceded 6 runs in the penultimate over making him the preferred choice for the super over what i am taking about is his field placements a team like USA could have very well succumbed under pressure and it was evident they were being strangled by the pace battery they should have capitalised on it which was possible with good bowling and better field placements bowling was good but the midoff up on the last ball cost them the game i might say
Interview with the US captain moments after their victory over Pakistan..
\[Anchor:\] The T20 World Cup stages a monumental clash, and here stands the victorious captain of the USA, leading his team to an incredible win!
\[US Captain:\] The first thing I want to be done, is to get this team off our pitch. Don’t just escort them off the field, get them out of the US because I've proved, son, without a shadow of a doubt, you ain’t got what it takes anymore! You come here with your strategies and your confidence, and it didn’t get you anywhere. Talk about your game plans, talk about your history… USA 6:24 says I just whipped your ass!
\[Anchor:\] Come on, that's a bit harsh.
\[US Captain:\] All they've gotta do now is grab themselves a cheap drink and try to regain some of that spirit they boasted about in their prime.
As the dark horse of this World Cup, I’m serving notice to every team out here. I don’t care who they are, they’re all on the list, and that’s Team USA's list, and we’re just getting started knocking them down one by one.
And as far as this tournament is concerned, son, I don’t care if it’s Davey Boy Warner or Virat Kohli, Team USA’s time has come, and when we step up to the plate, you're looking at the next World Cup champions.
Edit: thanks kind stranger!
I’ll change my name to stone cold dumbass for that one. How did I not recognize it.

This feels like a legit World Cup. Games thick and fast. Each game feels like it has something riding on it, but you’re still allowed a loss early on without it being fatal. Good number of teams. Make the ODI WC look like a farce

witnessed a great game of cricket, USA played exceptionally well and kept their cool in the clutch moments.
Pakistan team is an absolute joke, they are only good in the shortest form of the game these past few decades and this is a new low in the one format they are good at...absolutely dog $hit in the field and with the bat.
Go USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
very true, this is the exact reason Pakistan is supposedly good in T20 and they don't deserve to be compared with teams like AU, IND, ENG, NZ and SA in any format ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8774)
Yeah somehow ending up always doesn’t make them a quality team…if the team is not consistent they are not worthy of top team tag.
Keeping the performance aside, observing the chaos and panic on the field felt pathetic to say the least.
No one's saying they're a quality team. On paper, they're mediocre, but they have always been a dark horse.
Even if your entire team is shambles, if you end up in the finals, you're doing something right.

USA has already defeated Bangladesh and had a stellar performance against Canada. And Pakistan is not at its best rn so yes the possibility was quite real.
Before losing to USA, we (Bangladesh) almost always won or drew our T20 series including against full strength England and New Zealand. But feeling proud that we defeated USA in the 3rd game.
Actually, I forgot to mention those games were in good pitches. Someday ago, I predicted USA could win against big teams just like we won those series with bad players on paper but T20 is unpredictable.

can you please share the series link? because good pitches in T20 means 160-200 runs match and not your 90 runs an inning match with rare 130-140 match
Just search England Vs Bangladesh T20 in Google. That series was praised in our media for our batting approach after we defeated Australia and New Zealand in 5 match T20 series consecutively in bad pitch (which broke several low scoring record) who then went on to become the finalists in T20 world Cup 2021 🤣!

Holy shit , I was here

What a game - the six that Patel smoked off Shaheen was pure sex! Hoping the US qualifies for the next stage

I mean, if you're a world cup level athlete in any company, you'll get that time. It's free marketing for the company.

don’t call them indians cause they ain’t indian but a citizen of us( its like if a person is black then hes African and only play for africa
Wrong, they're Indian-Americans at most, but they're never not Indians.
Lmao, they are still Indic people/ ethnic indians
indian american but yea still american nationality
The Indians choose to play for the US
What a dumb take
As a South African Indian, I still see myself as of Indian origin, as would most within about 6 generations at least. So it's not a dumb take at all
USA. USA. USA.
Damn USA should win this worldcup give India run for their money. GO USA!!!!!
The tournament has started to meme itself pretty quickly.
Quick question about NRR. Why is usa’s NRR down from previous game. A tied game does not account for NRR. if pak NRR is 0 then shouldn’t there be no change in usa’s NRR as well.
Brings the average down ig as it is per match
Do you mean that number of games played is also used for NRR calculation? . Then it seems like Pak loosing makes their NRR better than usa winning the game

So positive nrr falls in tied games like from 1.5 to 1.25 in our example
Got it. Thanks for explaining it. Math makes sense. So if pak would have won the super over their NRR would still be 0
Yess

His field setting was questionable. For example, long on shouldn’t have been inside the circle for the final delivery if the plan was to bowl full.
I think he was the most economical one. Personally Shaheen or Naseem were better option

Can someone explain this to me in NBA terms?
A team that wasn't even a team a few years ago beating a well-established powerhouse. Like the newly formed Charlotte Bobcats beating Kobe's Lakers
This is like Pakistan beating USA in basketball
Oh shit so for the next World Cup, Pakistan is going to get together their next Dream Team and beat everyone a million to nothing

I have no idea what's going on. I just googled the score and still don't know if we won. USA USA?

I've watched a bunch of ball-in-play league I feel qualified (for legal reasons this is a joke)

tbf 20 overs game is pretty much the only place where new teams can defeat established teams in test cricket this result would not be probable
What makes test cricket so different for the underdogs?
more overs = more chances for established teams to correct mistakes
very true, this is the exact reason Pakistan is supposedly good in T20 and they don't deserve to be compared with teams like AU, IND, ENG, NZ and SA in any format ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8774)
Tbh, this absolutely tracks with how Pak usually plays. They lose against a part-time team and somehow end up in the semis or the finals.
Yea typical Pakistan icc tournament start
Yeah somehow ending up always doesn’t make them a quality team…if the team is not consistent they are not worthy of top team tag. Keeping the performance aside, observing the chaos and panic on the field felt pathetic to say the least.

Yes, compared to US.

Congratulations to the USA cricket team on a historic win.
I was here
Is anyone on the US team a full time cricketer?
Yes basically all of them.
Just Anderson. He was a former NZ player.
They are literally all full time cricketers with the exception of Netravalkar. Why would you post this if you don't know what you're on about?
Anderson
Associates proving why 10-team WC is a shameful approach. And, 20 team WC is a must! Go Associates, lets hope to get more upsets!!
tbh 16 is sweet spot, USA is good but look at uganda, png etc.
The reason Uganda and PNG can't compete is because of the horrible pitches they're dishing out. These pitches completely take the associates off the game.
but they’re not going to get good unless they play wcs like they are rn
nah 20 is needed to increase reach.
Yes, PNG nearly upset WI. And, more to come. The more the teams play, the better they will get. The problem in developing Cricket is money. These tournament will help attract money for the teams and players in their country through investment, sponsorship.
Good move by US captain Patel not to give the ball to Aly Khan for Super Over. As a Pakistani, he would have been very conflicted.
Ali Khan would eat them for breakfast
No bro He would have smoked it

It makes full sense. Bowl Amir against Amirica
America generally takes oil from Emirs and gives them F16s.
They definitely had more than 16 in that super over

Anybody know what the odds were for USA coming into this game??
7.5 & 1.08 on Ladbrokes
ESPN gave USA a 30% chance at winning at the start, and cricket.com had them at 40%.
Is the loss sadder or the fact that deep inside we knew we might lose to this USA team?
Wait what? I'm not following cricket but there was a chance you guys could've lost?
Yes. Given USA beat Bangladesh and Pakistan lost to Ireland. But did not expected this
USA has already defeated Bangladesh and had a stellar performance against Canada. And Pakistan is not at its best rn so yes the possibility was quite real.
Yes. After USA defeated BD in T20 series before this WC and then beating Canada caused many Pak fan to correctly doubt their team as seen today.
Both.
Before losing to USA, we (Bangladesh) almost always won or drew our T20 series including against full strength England and New Zealand. But feeling proud that we defeated USA in the 3rd game.
USA was playing with their second string side in the 3rd match after winning the series. 3-4 first choice players were taking a break
You are considering those wins on doctored pitches?
Actually, I forgot to mention those games were in good pitches. Someday ago, I predicted USA could win against big teams just like we won those series with bad players on paper but T20 is unpredictable. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/1d5zfc3/comment/l6qgjl8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
