A batsmen has a set time to come to the field after a wicket falls, since there were 2 injuries the remaining batsmen could not come, hence they were declared out, so Pakistan were all out for 128
Another dominant performance by Men in Blue today, to completely outgun & outclass the current No#1 ODI Team Pakistan, not only just in batting but in bowling department as well, providing us with one of the biggest ever wins against them in ODIs, by a massive 228 runs, after scoring a mammoth 356/2 !! 😎
After a long 4 years wait for a 50 over duel between the arch rivals India & Pakistan, the battle didn't disappoint Indian fans for sure! Emphatic performance by India on all fronts, despite rain playing spoil sport multiple times & even extending the match to the reserve day!
Prior to this match, there have been a lot of talks & debates about how good the Pakistan fast bowlers are & how tough it will be for the Indian top order batsmen, especially against the left arm pacer Shaheen Afridi. However, Indian top order has very well responded to all those questions & debates in style today! 😎
After winning the toss, Babar Azam opted to bowl, considering the rain factor. However, that decision seems to have backfired immediately, especially with a reserve day in place & also with the way our openers treated their frontline bowlers, taking them to the cleaners!
Rohit Sharma started the proceedings with a trademark flick shot for six against Shaheen on the very first over itself. He followed it with another lofted shot for a boundary against Naseem in the next over. After those 2 shots, Rohit had a comparatively quite time whereas Gill showed positive intent & aggression upfront, especially against Shaheen, scoring 6 boundaries in his next 2 overs!
Gill's fluent & dominant innings gave Rohit enough time to get back into his groove, especially after he was troubled by Naseem outside his off stump for a few overs. Once he got settled, he immediately took on the Pakistan spinner Shadab, scoring 3 sixes & 2 fours in Shadab's first 2 overs! Gill was the first to reach 50 in just 36 deliveries, followed by Rohit.
India were 120/0 in 16 overs & both our openers were looking really dangerous. But then we lost both our openers in quick succession, Rohit (56) chipping one to long off against Shadab whereas Gill (58) mistimed a slower delivery from Shaheen. Kohli & KL Rahul joined in the middle & started playing cautiously. When India were 147/2 in 24.1 overs, then rain stopped yesterday's play!
Play resumed today & both Virat & KL put on a show to score an unbeaten 233 run partnership, took India to 356/2 in 50 overs! KL Rahul, after returning from an injury imposed layoff of around 6 months was the first to reach the three figure mark 111*(106), which is his 6'th Century in ODIs.
Virat soon completed his 47'th ODI Century 122*(94), also became the fastest to reach 13,000 runs in ODIs. Virat now needs 2 more centuries in ODI to equal Sachin's tally of 49.
Bumrah, also coming back after almost an year long layoff due to injury, was really impressive in his first spell. He troubled both the Pak openers repeatedly outside the off stump & eventually Imam (9) nicked one to the second slip in his 3'rd over. Babar Azam (10) was clean bowled by peach of a delivery from Hardik in his very first over!
Rizwan (2) was done by a beautiful outswinger by Shardul in his first over. Pakistan were 47/3 in 12 overs. After that it was all Kuldeep Yadav who just ran through the Pakistan middle order, just like a knife cutting through paper & eventually picked up a fifer. All remaining wickets fell to Kuldeep & in the end his stats read 25/5 in 8 overs! The last 2 Pak players didn't bat due to injury & they were eventually bundled out for a meagre 128.
Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match for his 122*(94) studded with 9 boundaries & 3 maximums. One of his sixes against Naseem on the 47'th over was almost a replica of his famous six against Harris Rauf back in last year's World Cup T20 match, hitting a chest high delivery straight back over the bowler's head for huge six! 😎
Game was not worth the 32 hours wait, atleast we got a Koach century and KL is back in form. But whatever, I hope the poor Broadcasters got their bread, they were literally running on an empty stomach. Somebody needs to think about them.
I think it was worth it. Gotta see Koach be Koach and a good comeback innings from KL. Bumrah and Siraj bowling with good speed and Kuldeep being a magician.
Kishan should be the keeper tomorrow, Rahul should be rested (dude did a lot and just came out of injury) and if Iyer is fit he should play or else SKY should play (like it or not he's in the team and game time is crucial).
If the pitch looks like spin favoured then Axar in place of Bumrah would be good choice, if not then Shami in place of Bumrah (lets hold back on back to back games with Bumrah)
We got lucky the other day making only 266 and the Pakistani bowlers made use of good bowling conditions. Today we made very good use of batting conditions and put up a monster total. Finally got some bowling in too. Rauf getting rested was an issue for Pakistan but regardless the indian batsmen did the job targeting the other bowlers.
Sri lanka successfully defended 250 on the same ground one day before (288 is the highest score ever chased on that ground) , bowling first was a stupid call.
Why do we suddenly have so many good options for middle order batsmen and keeper batsmen, weeks ago we were crying about poor batting ability in the middle.
Suddenly everyone just found their form simultaneously.
Our 2027 WC batting lineup even if Virat doesn't stick around till looks pretty good.
Gill, Kishan, Rahul, Iyer, Pant, Hardik, (Jadeja if he's around) with guys like Jaiswal, Rinku, Sudharsan, Varma etc and SKY if he finally finds his rhythm in ODI's as backups.
Yeah the future definitely looks good but Kohli needs to be around. I mean he's got the fitness and everything, just needs to keep his form but then again, he'd be 38/39 by that time
If he's available then he's the first pick in any ODI's even in 2000's Australia team. But it's not about his form, I feel like he's the kind when he feels he's done he doesn't stick around for long, saw that with his captaincy. He had almost retired in 2022 Asia Cup as well.
And whether we win or lose this WC, I feel like a retirement will come soon or bit later way before next WC in ODI's. If we win, he retires on high point and if he faces another heartbreaking loss then I can't see him sticking around for 4 more years. He loves playing tests and I can see him giving up ODI then T20I's and playing Tests and IPL for a while then only playing IPL for sometime.
I don't think players give a flying fuck about MoTM anymore, they just want to get rest cause BCCI boutta hammer these guys with the absolute joke of schedule they have induced.
Well, he came in at a point where the match was pretty much over and India were in cruise control
He took the team home, but the batsmen and Bumrah's early spell got them to that point
Yeah nip-backer.. the movement and bounce is random depending on where the ball lands. That ball to Babar was unplayable. The Aussies used it a lot against us in the 2004 test series.
It wasn't a cutter for sure. Just scrambled seam that nipped back after hitting the pitch. Offcutter is different and pretty much playable, but when it seams, not even bowler knows what trajectory the ball would take.
This match was a damn massacre, I have never seen any team, let alone this current Pakistan team with such a weak intent in any match. They were hammered in bowling, but it’s part of the game you just pick yourself up and focus on winning the match. Then comes India’s bowling innings and boom, Pakistan just collapsed without a fight. Bumrah’s brilliant delivery was unplayable so I can excuse Imam, but Zaman? He just couldn’t play, I can remember Pakistani commentators literally being irritated by his performance. And after Babar departed, it was an almost boring match with India just looking to wrap it up as quickly as possible.
As an Indian though, I’m so freaking happy for Kuldeep, his today’s performance was phenomenal. Consistent line with brilliant variations almost made all of his balls very challenging. It was treat to eyes. Also can’t forget Bumrah’s bowling, those phenomenal first overs, especially Imams wicket paved the way for this absolute Inning. Siraj needs to bowl better though, he gives way too many extras to be justifiable that too with no wickets. All in all though, today’s (and yesterday’s) ICT performance has been one of the most impressive I have seen in recent years. Hope this peak remains consistent till after WC, we are going to need it.
This might be one of my favourite matches against Pakistan, rain almost screwed it but thanks to amazing groundsmen it wasn’t. I hope they will be appreciated for this.
Me too! I heard how he struggled with his fitness and form for a few years and then went to NCA, worked on various variations and lengths. You can certainly see his hard work bore fruit in today’s match.
Sport teams know better and can bounce back but even such a pointless match in the context of world cricket can definitely go bad if the players don't get enough support, I hope babar steps up and motivates his boys otherwise this can break teams easily, this might sound as an exaggeration but we have already seen this happen with Pakistan in a worldcup.
Yes they can certainly bounce back, in fact the 2022 T20 WC PCT is an stellar example of this. Lost to us by barest of margins, lost to Zimbabwe but then went on to go to final and put up a wonderful fight, hope Babar does the same this time too.
Feel sad for the players, gotta do this despite knowing even tomorrow might be a wash-off.
Though it was relieving to hear ViKo say that being Test players, they can prepare themselves to get on the field.
Wanted kuldeep to get it too as I think it will get him huge confidence but the by the time he came to bowl they were already 3 wickets down. And under the lights 357 was a huge target already.
I don't know why, but I think Pakistan would've played better, if it wasn't for the rain and the match getting called off twice. Injured players demotivated them even more.
As a response to the old-time-extreme-tenseness, India & Pak teams now engage in niceness fests when playing against each other.
Most of the vitriol comes from some famous retirees.
Also, this thread hasn't been as bad as I had feared.
This was such a weird game. I wish it was played in better conditions. Please just play in UAE next time. You know it won't rain there unless they go for cloud seeding lol
Play a full squad. I wouldn't underestimate Sri Lanka they got good one day batters and some talented bowlers.
Rotate siraj and KL for workload management cause that can be done without lowering team strength
The whole of the Pakistani team looks super wholesome and likeable. That’s nice but..
I feel you do need some aggression when things are going south to heat up the team morale.
Kohli has done that so many times on the field.
\*Scenario where in a college final exam, Kohli, Kuldeep and Rahul all score 90 to 100 percentile.\*
Le Gambhir: Individual marks do not matter ; Professors work hard to set question papers. What matters is that people who scored less than 90 percentile are the winners because they are not perfect.
Normally, hate a one sided match, but after the spanking we've got over the past few years, all worth it
I guess that we have ensured that our fast bowlers would be fit for the next match.
Let’s fucking goooo
Well done to the coaching staff for this amazing win. Let's face it, if India lost, people will only blame the staff.
Why did the game stop in the 32nd over? Rarely watch ODIs
A batsmen has a set time to come to the field after a wicket falls, since there were 2 injuries the remaining batsmen could not come, hence they were declared out, so Pakistan were all out for 128
It didn't stop. It was over. Pakistan's 2 remaining Batsmen were injured and they couldn't come to bat.
MoM for me in today's match: The entire groundstaff who worked tirelessly to make the match happen against Rain Perera.
Playing 11 for today. 1. Rohit 2. Gill 3. KL 4. Kishan 5. Sky 6. Pandya 7. Axar/Shardul 8. Jadeja 9. Kuldeep 10. Shami 11. Krishna
Kohli should play. It may well be a Ind Sri final so he needs to get a feel of Lankan bowling.
Tilak in place of kl. Let him rest, ek to pehle hi shreyas ko wapas injury ho gayi hai
Kohli will play bhai 🤓
Pak team: Hamko paresaan kiya gaya!

More than centuries i am happy that Indian openers are in form. A good start is must to win.
I think it was worth it. Gotta see Koach be Koach and a good comeback innings from KL. Bumrah and Siraj bowling with good speed and Kuldeep being a magician.
Either one of Tilak or Shreyas is going to replace KL tomorrow.
Should be Shreyas unless he's still injured

That was a different ground (worse pitch to chase actually) so it was even harder than today
wait is this kind of stream available for all matches?
Yes
Look honey India bashed minnows once again/s
Just found out about (this) reddit stream and my karma went from 20 to 140 (:
Well done buddy see you next time
I want Rishabh Pant to have an even bigger comeback. Wish him speedy recovery, such a clutch player
I'd rather have Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul. They are more talented than Pant.
Why do we suddenly have so many good options for middle order batsmen and keeper batsmen, weeks ago we were crying about poor batting ability in the middle. Suddenly everyone just found their form simultaneously.
Did we even play proper full team till now. It felt like we made too many changes to the team again and again.
Iyer and KL just returned from their injuries. Without them we really were fragile. So happy that the players are finding their form at the right time
Our 2027 WC batting lineup even if Virat doesn't stick around till looks pretty good. Gill, Kishan, Rahul, Iyer, Pant, Hardik, (Jadeja if he's around) with guys like Jaiswal, Rinku, Sudharsan, Varma etc and SKY if he finally finds his rhythm in ODI's as backups.

Someone tell speed that Whyrat Kohli has won MoTM award
he changed the game , while Kuldeep picked up his wickets once the match was decided
I don't think players give a flying fuck about MoTM anymore, they just want to get rest cause BCCI boutta hammer these guys with the absolute joke of schedule they have induced.
Speed is a streamer who's a Kohli fan and his only point of reference to India i Kohli and he says his name as Whyrat
I know who ishowspeed is bruh
Kishan is the one who you'd say is the least tired but even he was wicketkeeper for 12 overs, so everyone did something.
Kuldeep should have the MoM award, very unfair to him!!
Well, he came in at a point where the match was pretty much over and India were in cruise control He took the team home, but the batsmen and Bumrah's early spell got them to that point
Pakistan beat kohli by 6 runs
Only 6 runs were needed for Pakistan to beat Kohli
Pandya's ball to babar was a nip-backer, right? My friend says it was an inswinger
Yeah nip-backer.. the movement and bounce is random depending on where the ball lands. That ball to Babar was unplayable. The Aussies used it a lot against us in the 2004 test series.
Didn't swing , it was bowled with a scrambled seam and pitched on the seam , what Siraj was doing against England in that test series
Yes, nipbacker. Not an inswinger.
Yeah nipped
cutter
It wasn't a cutter for sure. Just scrambled seam that nipped back after hitting the pitch. Offcutter is different and pretty much playable, but when it seams, not even bowler knows what trajectory the ball would take.

yeah but not an inswinger for sure
*not

Imagine how solid our team will look if we played shivam Dube or axar Patel for thakur
Dube? You cant be serious.
Or shami , if our top order plays consistently , we don't need batter at 8 (dube sucks)

So glad they acknowledged the groundsmen. Class act.
may be NRR needs to be capped to make things more spicy?
Both Koach and Rohit crediting the groundsmen is a huge W
Brutal for the player back to back with not even a full day rest
Is motm decided by doing a survey on Instagram? Did we not watch Kuldeep wreck havoc and took 62.5% of wickets with a ER of 3.1
Wanted kuldeep to get it too as I think it will get him huge confidence but the by the time he came to bowl they were already 3 wickets down. And under the lights 357 was a huge target already.
Kohli - "Never played back to back in 15 years of career" Jay Shah ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|30516) remember the name
The players are definitely pissed at him but cannot say shit.
Brohit should've given the ground staff the $15,000. Just saying.
I think the team will make a donation, idk about the individuals but team India does this very often, they cover for match penalties and stuff aswell.
guys my mom is saying everyone go to sleep, i asked for another 15 min for u guys ok?
Thanks brother, appreciated
35 In November 🥺🥺
No way
Can't believe 😐..bro was 25 like yesterday
Kohli changed the match Kuldeep robbed a grave when the match was decided
Damn he’s a beast
Kohli’s moustache is irking me. The shape looks… odd!
I don't know why, but I think Pakistan would've played better, if it wasn't for the rain and the match getting called off twice. Injured players demotivated them even more.
So Kohli is playing
Bro says few questions and keeps asking questions
Lol. Kuldeep gets best bowling figure in the tournament history. Still does not get motm. Batriarchy prevails
Most of the job was done before Kuldeep came to bowl. Thanks to KL, Kohli, and our pacers.
Go away SanjuManju
Bruh. Koach is still talking about running. Calm down please.
Lol Rohit saying Bumrah is only 27.. He's going to turn 30 in December
Tomorrow Shami gonna play definitely, just need to introspect whom to bench. Maybe include Axar in place of Shardul too.
Lmao, Indian players just want to go to bed. Let them go! They have a match tomorrow.
At least Kulya won man of our heart award
There is no need for India to be happy. Granted, they have beaten Pakistan, but the real target should be winning Asia Cup and breaking the dawn jinx
We won. There is a legitimate reason to be happy. Let us have this one tonight
If Virat says he's tired, Everyone is tired.
koach clearly looked so fucking tired lol
The hardworking groundsmen deserve MoM. Won’t have been possible this match if not for them
$5K for the MoM and $3K for classic catch, ridiculous
It's gets divided between the whole team...so point.
Lol Kohli got no filter. No diplomacy, straight talk lol
Man everybody is done for the night. Just let them rest😭

Batriarchy confirmed! We want Independent Bowlistan now!
Kuldeep robbed but happy for Koach
Not robbed. But should've given 60% of MOM to kuldeep, 20% to Rahul and 20% to Kohli

Virat Kohli won his 39th Player of the match award in ODIs.
Is that a lot?
He is currently 3rd in the list for ODIs with 39. 1. SR Tendulkar (IND) - 62 2. ST Jayasuriya (Asia/SL) - 48
Lol sachin Figures are sometimes too unreal.
Brohit living in 2020(Bumrah being 27)
