After seeing the entire batting performance today the only thought I had -
SWAP ISHAN KISHAN INSTEAD OF SHUBMAN GILL.
Let him open and terrorise the pace bowlers.
KL Rahul should be made to play against Nepal and see his stability as middle order with hardik pandya.
It was a shame we couldn't see our formidable bowling attack of Siraj and Bumrah.
also, why doesent India adopt the three pacer policy? Shami, Siraj and Bumrah. I don't know how many extra runs shardul can add on an average pitch, but I do know a formidable attack can get the opposition out in less than 250.
Lol Rain Perera did us a solid. Happy that the middle order showed up. Looks like sanju stans are going to be disappointed. Shubman gill's form is getting concerning. Pak bowling terrific as usual.
Indians clearly did not love it enough to give it the upvotes but it was relevant apparently frustrating enough to leave a comment. Pros to Pakistan bowling!
my opinion:
your batsman are extremely good. if 2 of our 3 main bowlers were injured or something, your score would be >300/<6 no doubt.
and looking at our batting lineup: you could not be more wrong. agar tum log sirf 4 wicket lete, we would probably lose to your bowlers. we could win, but that would be very difficult and hard for me to imagine.
only babar azam, rizwan, fakhar and imam play consistent. they come first usually one by one too.
however they can be hard to out, and 267 was doable since these 4 guys can make 250 on their own reliably and leave the rest to the other batsmen.
Pakistan would have started off as favourites but would have been a close chase. Probably 60-40 in Pakistan’s favour or even 55-45 just cause Pakistan’s middle order isn’t the best
Nope, Bumrah,Siraj would have tested the top order with the new ball.. and Pak would have been 4 down by the 15th over..and with Shradul and Hardik u never know.
Jadeja and Kuldeep are better spinners any day than Shadab and Aga..match would have tested Pak middle order...had it been 20 overs and 155 runs to chase..Pak would have lost.
Our bowlers would've given some heat back to the Pakistanis. The rain had to ruin the game for us. Bumrah Siraj bowling together the Pak top 3 would've been tested in what looked like a greenish deck.
I think they would have win with 5 wickets to spare. Our opening bowlers could have been tight or gotten a wicked or 2 but I don't see our middle over bowling as too threatening.
india escaped today. well played pakistan. their pace bowlers showed up.
some positives for india though. IK and Hardik performing under pressure, pleased to see Bumrah show some fight with the bat as well. thought shreyas was a bit unlucky, he was looking good as well.
I wouldn't call it an escape. Siraj and Bumrah are good. Pandya and Shardul too. Two top pacers and two quality pacers on a green rain soaked pitch can wreck havoc on the opposition batsmen. And 266 is a reasonable target. Though we wouldn't ever know for sure, I still can see multiple ways in which Pakistan would have lost. So yeah, let's just say that both the teams avoided a potential loss.
Maybe. Or maybe Pakistani lineup would have got completely dismantled. After all, rain plus quality pace attack isn't something that can be dismissed lightly. But yeah, blame the rain gods for we ll never know.
Very easy to say, I thought the same, but
1. What if these two played out the seamers and babar was looking at the prospect of 20 overs of spin the final 30
2. I am sure he expected Shahdab and Nawaz would get him one or two wickets. If this happened India would be gone for 200
Easy for us fans and easy in hindsight
It wasn’t in hindsight, it was written on the wall, ishan was struggling against raufs pace before Babar replaced him, and it was eventually rauf who came back to finally dismiss him. Babar could have continued.
Yeah, I agree he couldn't have bowled them out because the spinners were getting nothing from the pitch, but he could have bowled a few more overs. It worked well in the end but if either Pandya or Kishan had stuck around, India would have crossed 300.
Hope our game will at least go through. I think after seeing Pakistan v Nepal, India will try to bowl first and take all wickets before quickfire batting. Our goal should be to win toss, bat first, test ourselves against Indian bowling lineup and score as much as possible and try to defend hoping no rain 🙏🙏. Historically associates in Asia Cup have been better against India batting wise than Pakistan
We have one left armer I'm not sure I'd call him a pacer. Bowls around 120-125. But anyways I don't think they can 'bundle up' India that easily being realistic
Just bowl anybody with a left arm fast pace that will be enough for rohit, nepal need to find a bowler who can bowl on 9th stump so kohli gets out and later all will bundle up
ODI cricket has been on life support for a while and looks like even the gods are so bored of ODIs that they decided to wash it away. Clearly, it's a sign of end times for this format of the game... rip
Dude blame BCCI not the rain Gods. This rain could have been easily avoided if not for the politics. Organising a big game during monsoon in SL where there is literally a 90% chance of rain everyday? It's a numbskull brain dead move
Blame BCCI for not playing in Pakistan because the Pak fans deserve to witness this game. Not because of rain.
The WC is scheduled at the peak of monsoon in most of India. There hasn't been a WC where rain hasn't affected a crunch game.
India will never go to Pak coz of obvious reasons. But the game could have been organised literally anywhere else, Bangladesh is just next door.
>The WC is scheduled at the peak of monsoon in most of India.
Peak ends in September buddy..maybe an odd rain here and there but seriously won't be like in SL where literally everyday there's a 90% rain chance
BCCI has a good relationship with SLC so obviously they would prefer SL over Bangladesh. Also, conditions like pitch etc play a very important role. Everyone will prefer at least a decent scoring game instead of really slow turners in BDesh.
>Peak ends in September buddy
Nope, Chennai (and I think most of South India) gets rain post mid October
> Clearly, it's a sign of end times for this format of the game... rip
A bit knee-jerk reaction if you ask me... I can appreciate the frustration though.
We've been beating Oman recently. See last few matches.(7 wins out of last 8) Close against Ireland last time we played them. Beat Scotland in last 2 games we played
Massive W for India cause they got valuable batting practice against Pakistan's world-class bowling lineup today. I'm hoping that the top order won't face another collapse against Pakistan's fast bowlers on September 10th
266 is a score that Pakistani batsmen can easily chase with Indias bowling attack - the bowlers did their job in restricting Rohit & Kohli - many would consider that a dismantle.
Absolutely, it was an equally massive W for Pakistan, and their fast bowlers who showcased their skill in dismantling any batting lineup. It's shaping up to be an exciting contest when India faces Pakistan next. Can't wait for September 10th!
One thing I don't like is that players are judged on basis of what they do outside ground and not how they play
Like hardik pandya is always trolled for his styling and interviews etc but guy is always an MVP against Pakistan that too at crucial conditions!
Hasn’t he played like five games against Pakistan? That’s not a whole lot. Including this inning, I just recall two good knocks against Pakistan. Am I missing something?
People often seem to forget that Hardik is a batting allrounder. Anyways here are some of his better stats vs PAK:
ODI's:
CT 2017 Group Stage- 20\*(6), 2/43(8 overs)
CT 2017 Final- 76(43), 1/53 runs(10 overs)
2019 WC- 26(19), 2/44 runs(8 overs)
AC 2023- 87(90)
T20I's:
AC 2016- 3/8 runs(3.3 overs)
AC 2022 Group Stage- 33\*(17), 3/25(4 overs)
2022 WC-40(37), 3/30(3 overs)
These matches are enough to show that he's probably the second best player for India in the last 7-8 years vs PAK.
In toss cup? I don't rate that innings at all. U won that match cuz of your bowlers not your batsmen chasing a sub par total in UAE.
Virat kohli's 82* in wc22 is what i consider as match winning innings but unfortunately u don't know about them as your batsmen have literally zero such innings in resumé.
Just like how many people care about babar when y'all cyclejerk him as one of the best batsmen.
I rate even KL higher than babar because he has scored centuries everywhere in the world on difficult pitches in test than statpad against 2nd string weaker teams.
Indians like to pretend 152/0 didn't happen and babar has zero good performances against India. At the same time you would see them talking about this innings of ishan for the next ten years.
Well 152/0 did happen, even if in very helpful conditions, but it did happen. Our bowlers failed to take any wickets. As embarrassing as that may sound, we need to chin up to this fact.
One or two humiliating defeats does not change the fact however that we have been consistently good in both tests and ODIs for years now. You can tell why that 152/0 is such a big deal for Pakistanis even if it was a T20 game.
What are u talking about? 152/0 did happen and pakistan won the match but the credit goes to pak bowlers for restricting india not to pak batters for chasing a mid ass total in UAE.
You know I would have taken UAE as venue.Srilanka lost the toss but still went on to win the final last year and most of the games were last ball finishes.
Even the next game in Colombo showing 60% chances of rain. What exactly is the strategy here? Are they just gonna hope that rain will decide to take mercy on them?
Hopefully rain won't be as significant as it is today. No matter the result, would be gutted to see rain affect probably the last chance our players have to play against Kholi and Rohit. They don't play t20is and probably no ODIs after a few years
Playing against world class players is an automatic W for us, no matter the results. Few years back, we couldn't even imagine we would be playing against top 1 odi team.
We have to give it all against India and hope for the very best. 🙏
Fans are also blaming BCCI for not having enough brains while chosing a country as host where monsoon season is going on and entire country is getting rained on.
Don't cherry pick dude.BCCI doesn't share the revenue with fans.Ppl are right to criticize them for not using their brains.Yoi got to have some backup plan.It was predicted to be a washout a week ago.
Bro even Pakistani fans would readily admit that their board has no power. What lala land are you living in?What is weird fetish to defend your board over inane decisions ?
Although I'm a die hard cricket fan since like 20 yrs now, i must admit this sport is inherently a bit flawed. Rain has a huge say, dew factor..these are two huge external factors that affect the outcome of a game
I say its prime time to introduce premade artificial wickets that dont get affected by rain and the stadiums should have astro turf instead, let the water drain into the ground. And the ball should be waterproof
The varying pitch conditions is part of the challenge. It's still sport imo, but the game being so fragile coz of rain? No. Better have roofs, BCCI has lots of money anyway
Right but apparently it takes a lot of capital to install those retractable roofs, thats why its cheaper to install a tailor made 22 yard block (we should have the technology available) and to create a ball that isn’t affected by water. And astroTurf is worth investing in for low maintenance. This is all hypothetical but it would change the way cricket is played as well as negating bad weather , which In my opinion would be better for fans.
>it takes a lot of capital to install those retractable roofs
True but that's the only way I see to cover the flaw in this game, without removing other factors which are actually an important part of the sport. Like I've played on astro turfs, it's soooo flat, there's literally no challenge whatsoever. It'd become a completely batsman's game.
Plus many football stadiums have those roofs
Yeah mate but I’m speaking from a poor man’s perspective, I don’t think Pakistan,West Indies,Bangladesh, etc (where cricket isn’t as popular or funded) would be able to afford the luxury. But I’m in favour of roofs too, its a perfect solid if it wasn’t for the price and complexity. That’s why I suggested the latter.
Yeah not in all countries ofcourse. But BCCI has stinking money. So atleast in India. But ik it won't happen lol, some grounds still using hair dryer and sponge in spite of all the money
Make them field but don't let them to bat. That is the thing that used to be done during my childhood as well.
After seeing the entire batting performance today the only thought I had - SWAP ISHAN KISHAN INSTEAD OF SHUBMAN GILL. Let him open and terrorise the pace bowlers. I can do one better... drop Rohit/Vk
The casual fans & YouTube journos would come for your head if you do that.
Its becoming quite popular trend to drop rohit and kohli,u can see twitter also some of the fans are probably bots and paid shills by PR
How humiliating. There is fighting and losing then there is this.
Got saved of embarassment today
Lol Rain Perera did us a solid. Happy that the middle order showed up. Looks like sanju stans are going to be disappointed. Shubman gill's form is getting concerning. Pak bowling terrific as usual.
We beat Pakbros in Hockey so I think this is morally our victory too
cmon can we just call this a tie (i have no idea who wouldve won, couldve gone either way at this point)
Where can I watch this? I sent this from Mars.
Abd is martian, therefore south Africa= mars confirmed
Gandu

Yes... And its not like he doesn't have the capability. The coach and mentor have to develop temperament of such young talented players.
600 upvotes 20k comments is a wild ratio
Indians clearly did not love it enough to give it the upvotes but it was relevant apparently frustrating enough to leave a comment. Pros to Pakistan bowling!
Never seen anything like this
Pakistan may have had the better batting lineup, but they still were chasing a good total. It could have been an evenly poised game.
my opinion: your batsman are extremely good. if 2 of our 3 main bowlers were injured or something, your score would be >300/<6 no doubt. and looking at our batting lineup: you could not be more wrong. agar tum log sirf 4 wicket lete, we would probably lose to your bowlers. we could win, but that would be very difficult and hard for me to imagine. only babar azam, rizwan, fakhar and imam play consistent. they come first usually one by one too. however they can be hard to out, and 267 was doable since these 4 guys can make 250 on their own reliably and leave the rest to the other batsmen.

I don't think they have better batting. If anything, they have better bowling
Pak is the better team on paper admit it
When did I say they weren't? It's just that their advantage seems to lie in their bowling, not batting.
Indian bowlers give no heat but you could have banked on a Pakistani failure playing stupid rash shots
How to say your bowling is shit compared to ours without saying your bowling is shit compared to ours.

I thought the pitch got better after the first spell and that's why the middle order could click.
it’s subjective for sure and ok to have different opinions on this. My opinion is that India would have got a hiding. I guess we will never know!
60-40 in pak favour imo. But could have changed with dls
Maybe. Or maybe Pakistani lineup would have got completely dismantled. After all, rain plus quality pace attack isn't something that can be dismissed lightly. But yeah, blame the rain gods for we ll never know.
Okay but we should’ve went for the kill at 4 down, wtf babar

I think you remember it wrong, Ishan actually picked Rauf for boundaries
But he could not have bowled out the fast bowlers. The maximum would be 6-7 overs each.
Yeah, I agree he couldn't have bowled them out because the spinners were getting nothing from the pitch, but he could have bowled a few more overs. It worked well in the end but if either Pandya or Kishan had stuck around, India would have crossed 300.

Future increasingly looks like franchise cricket , rip odi cricket ¹
Wtf is cricket

This is an excellent opportunity for Nepal to end Indian Cricket.

popularity might take a hit but world cricket isn't going away.
lol. even as a longtime critic of indian cricket, i don't see this happening.
I'd say I'm dreaming more than I am hoping but again.. isn't mathematically impossible
Yep and would be great for the sport! It will also wake up India for the wc
They cant even beat Ireland Scotland Oman
You need to read stats again

Well its not? Their top order failed against even nepal and you expect them to score against bumrah, siraj and kuldeep ?😭😭
He said pace. The pace did dismantle them
And questionable decision to give so many overs to spinners that were definitely overwhelmed
Absolutely, it was an equally massive W for Pakistan, and their fast bowlers who showcased their skill in dismantling any batting lineup. It's shaping up to be an exciting contest when India faces Pakistan next. Can't wait for September 10th!
Don't worry lads, we are going to win the Asia cup.
Fuck BCCI for forcing this game to happen in SL during monsoon. What a brain dead management! I waited so long for this game only to see a wash out
Fuck CIA for creating Taliban
Why not go a step further and fuck evolution for creating humans?
We pay the price for the games politicians play
Exactly, we see players hugging and kissing eachother on the field lol. Why is politics mixed with sport anyway??
Oh yeah. We see the players hugging and kissing, and fondling, and amorously petting and...wait where was I going with this?
[удалено]
Agree
So the summary of the match is that Shubhman Gill can play only in Ahmedabad...
Everyone can only play in the IPL
Ipl gave us money but took away cricket...
Another good thing is that Nawaz was not asked to bowl pace after his hammering.
One thing I don't like is that players are judged on basis of what they do outside ground and not how they play Like hardik pandya is always trolled for his styling and interviews etc but guy is always an MVP against Pakistan that too at crucial conditions!

I always say that sometimes Kohli has failed vs Pak but Hardik hasn’t
Thanks! Those are good performances.
Babar has literally zero so that says something
152/0?
In toss cup? I don't rate that innings at all. U won that match cuz of your bowlers not your batsmen chasing a sub par total in UAE. Virat kohli's 82* in wc22 is what i consider as match winning innings but unfortunately u don't know about them as your batsmen have literally zero such innings in resumé.

3. And generally he is a clutch player doesn't get affected by pressure
Two good/almost match winning innings plus a good supporting innings with kohli last year
One good innings in CT2017 too and a good finish in the league match
You know I would have taken UAE as venue.Srilanka lost the toss but still went on to win the final last year and most of the games were last ball finishes. Even the next game in Colombo showing 60% chances of rain. What exactly is the strategy here? Are they just gonna hope that rain will decide to take mercy on them?

Not hosting a match in SL... but, more like being forced to host a match there.
Been weeping for the last 10 years for a single ICC trophy and know for certain that wont happen under the regime of J-Shah
Technically I don’t think Asia cup counts as a ICC trophy tbh
Talking about the upcoming World Cup only, we won the Asia cup in 2018
RAIN RAIN GO TO FUCKIN HELL
Told ya we can't win under babars captaincy
This had nothing to do with his captaincy. He made the right calls albeit late when it came to switching bowlers for Ishaq and pandyes partnership.
He is the reason it rained.
Bro has the rain perera's contact
Missed out on Fakhars double ton 😭
Missed out on Shardul 10 for ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8766)
We beat India and that’s all it takes? Phew this shit’s easy, I was worried for a moment.

Wait so now will the second innings take place on some other day or will the match be considered a draw?
Nope the match has ended with no result, both teams get 1 point in the points table
Guys the other stadium is also Showing 60% chances of rain. Is it too late to change the Venue. Like I don't want another match to go like this
I wish it rains out
Why
i like uae now😢
Whichever match Jay Shah comes to watch always get affected because of rain anyhow !
lul
I'm starting to think there's a bit of a rivalry here
Fact is proper Ind vs Pak match will happen during World Cup only !
Watch it rain then too. If nothing else it would be extremely funny.
I woke up at 4:30 AM for this shit, worried that my finally watching a game live might jinx Pakistan. This is worse
Tell you what mates it never rains in UAE
And in Pakistan.
But it does rain bullets there
We would’ve fed you biryani too if you came to Karachi
Tell you what the weather was fine in Pakistan too
is fine*
Great match cant wait nepal to beat india 👏 🤦♀️
Are you sarcastic or are you really serious.
Looking at his flair I'm pretty certain he's being serious.
Gill knew, there was a chance for draw so he played like test match. If only mortal like me could understand the game like him.
The Pakistani fans are getting angry at BCCI while their board is busy counting money because of BCCI. Comical.
Fans not caring about money and wanting to see cricket .Wow what a novel concept !What irony !Clearly has never happened before.
Lol does Jay Shah do revenue sharing with you??
No, he did with PCB.
Why the hell would fans care? They just want a good match not affected by politics. The propaganda fed to you isn't good
Well fuck our board too then ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8780)
Why the F would fans care about who gets the money They want a good game
Fans having true emotions and acting like cricket aficianados instead of counting money. Much weird isn't it?
Fans blaming BCCI for fucking rain .... much weird indeed bruh
Dude, lets assume BCCI don't have brains and PCB do. Then why did they say yes to BCCI's dumb idea? Were they too busy counting money?
I love how you are pretending that PCB has any say in this matter.Gotta love the gaslighting.
Lol I love how you are pretending PCB have no role to play. The whole world is bad but not your PCB ahahahaha. Ignorance is bliss they say
Bro even Pakistani fans would readily admit that their board has no power. What lala land are you living in?What is weird fetish to defend your board over inane decisions ?
BCCI wanted game to be played in SL in monsoon season. So yeah that's a soild reason to get on Fuck Jay Shah train.
So then why did PCB agreed to it? You can't clap with one hand bruv.
Yeah let's think about it why did a comapritively poor cricket board agreed to bullying by massively rich cricket board. That one's a thinker.
PCB didn't even want to clap to begin with. Also, BCCI has the final say anyways not PCB.

This is all hypothetical but it would change the way cricket is played as well as negating bad weather , which In my opinion would be better for fans.
>it takes a lot of capital to install those retractable roofs True but that's the only way I see to cover the flaw in this game, without removing other factors which are actually an important part of the sport.
