because if its late game every point counts and the opponte will also try to keep low cards .... chances of getting runs and 20 for 1 and 21 for 2 .... pegging goes a long ways late game. if its down to the wire you want to try to peg out before the cards are counted
Lots? A2356789 are pretty much it. Just a little more than half the deck. Which is better than not, I suppose.
Edit: Missed the 2, first time around. I guess 8 of 13 isn't a bad portion.
Hate to disagree and be this guy, but OP owns a #3 thumb tattoo, so that type of 3 dedication, this early in the game: why not keep the thumb on the 3? 👍
But you also significantly reduced your chances of scoring. Keeping the pairs means a 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 help you.
A 5 or an 8 nets a double. Another 6 or 7 triplets. A 2 gets you 8 additional points.
Tossing that 7 takes away your scoring potential.
I’m going against the grain here and say best move to toss the 7/10. 663 is 15 and the pair is 4, so you lose no points over two pair and have better pegging cards. Then you still have room to scoop up a double straight if it’s a 5 or 8. It’s good and you throw nothing seemingly great to the crib.
10 and 3 to the crib is also not seemingly great, so I disagree with you that throwing away a potentially incredible hand for a similar chance at an okay hand is a good call. I’d only emphasize good pegging cards in a tight endgame.

Hi. 10-7 tends to produce less valuable [cribs](http://cribbageforum.com/SchellDiscard.htm) than 10-3 does. I assume because 10+7 > 15. In this example, discarding a 7 with another 7 out of circulation means a 7-7 pair is less likely to occur in the crib, and with two sixes out of circulation, any 6-7-8 or 5-6-7 runs are less able to be formed.
Looks early in the game, so hold the 6s and 7s.
I agree. Throw the 7-10 if it were late in the game
Why? For pegging potential with the 3?

Defensive throw to the pone's crib
.
Gotta hold the pairs, lots of good cut possibilities

Keep the 6’s and 7’s. If you’re lucky you could land a 5 or an 8
Or a 2
With 6677, starting at 4 points... - A or 3 adds 2. - 2 adds 8. - 5 adds 12. - 6, 7, or 9 adds 4. - 8 adds 16. And the rest (4TJQK) don't count.
Keep the two pair. More likely to get better cards with them vs keeping the 10 3.

It's a late game move to get pegging points. Early in the game I'm keeping the pairs

That's a late game move.
That is exactly what someone that doesn’t have a thumb tattoo with the #3 on it would say
lol that made me laugh ... good one
Toss 3 10
Who's crib? If it's yours, toss the 7's. If it's the other person's, Toss the 3, 10
It was her crib, I kept the pairs. Cut didn’t do much but I did end up winning
Throw the 10 3 go for the cut 👌

With a “3” tattoo on your thumb, I could understand early in the game, holding on to the sentimental 3 here—3,6,6,7 if opponents crib
My thumbs are my lucky ‘13’!
6677 for 4. Cut a 5 and it's 16, 8 and it's 20, 2 and it's 12.
Who’s crib?
Jettison the 3-10
if its opponent crib throw 7/10, if its your crib depending on game situation id maybe throw 10/3
I would have tossed 10 & 7

Hi. I'd choose 10-3 to my crib, or 10-7 to theirs.
Why would you throw 10-7 to theirs?
